Service person was early, and rude about having to "wait" even though I was also early for the appointment (house not currently occupied, getting ready to move in). Got a quote for $2,600+ for the one project! (The plumber the day before from a different quote gave me an estimate of $350.) Service man claimed he needed to come up at it from the basement, maybe for a much more complicated project (even though when the plumber gets to the bathroom it will already be demo-ed, down toe the studs). Quoted another $1,000+ to install the water hookups for a potential refrigerator (other plumber quoted me $158 for this). Felt judgmental attitude, will not use this service in the future. Don't trust the pricing.
Description of Work: Currently getting quotes from local plumbers to install a new tub drain, and change/update hot and cold water valves to current fixtures (updating a very small bathroom with 1970s fixtures).

Called them to clear a clogged kitchen line. They said they had a service charge (approx. $75) which would be applied to the work if they did it. This was fine. They showed up quickly but the quote to clean the line was over $400! I then called Roter Rooter who showed up and charged only $125 total!

It is a pretty good deal, if anything goes wrong they come out and fix it. They are excellent. They come in and look at my plumbing, furnace, and air conditioning. The guy came and wrote diagrams, tags, and instructions on my furnace, humidifier, and air conditioning. He was great.

I called them Saturday to set up work to be done Sunday to fit my schedule. All of my information was taken and I was told the tech will call me on Sunday on the way to my house. I sat around all day Sunday and no one called and after calling their number 3 times (getting no answer and waiting a couple minutes on hold) I called another plumber. I called Monday to make sure my job was cancelled and it was never sent to a tech in the first place. Also no explaination on why there was no answer at all on Sunday.
Description of Work: No services were performed but I called because I had a broken faucet in one bathroom and a leaky drain in another both required the water being turned off in the house.

We had a large insurance claim which required proof that there was damage. We hired several reputable companies to assist in submitting evidence to validate the claim. Allen Plumbing was one of the companies and it was not a pleasent experience. They put us in a corner by delaying the meeting and then when we were at a deadline charged us 4 times more than would be normal to check the sewer line for damage. We later had the cement removed and when the sewer line was exposed found out it was in very good condition and not only that, but where Allen Plumbing was planning to dig was not even where the sewer line ran. This was on the interior of our house in our main living room.
Description of Work: Had them out several times and should have learned my lesson after the first visit. 1. Replaced unnessessary parts on a air conditioner and after being challenged on it, admitted it was the wrong thing to do and said they would refund the money. It still hasn't happened 2. Overcharged us for a sewer line check, then said it was cracked and gave us a bid to dig up our kitchen floor to fix it. It was not cracked and there wasn't a fix needed. 3. They always seem to find another problem and on the spot want to fix it or they can't move forward with the original issue which then drives up the price of the work being done. 4. Called to discuss with the owner and he would not speak to me.

I was not pleased with Allen Plumbing & Heating. I felt that they were way overpriced. They did do a good job quality wise but the price was too much and I felt a little weary that some of the stuff didn't need to be done and that they might have been milking me to add sales.

After coming out and giving us a good price with a professional presentation on short notice the experience went bad quickly. We ended up choosing to use a different company at which point the sales person became argumentative, rude, and relentless. We have NEVER been treated so rudely in our lives. Any chance of calling this company for our future needs was ruined by the nasty attitude of the salesman.

Company was reasonably promt in visiting my home but offered no alternatives to their amazing price quote. Buyer beware!
Description of Work: Asked for an estimate to relocate gas line to BBQ. Was charged $49 for a service call and $98 for the estimate. I know I should have asked about prices before their visit to our home, but I just assumed it would be free. My bad. And to make matters worse they are poorly rated on Angies List-- I should have checked there first. I called this company based just on a recommedation from our gas company. Allen's estimate for the work involved was $2,902- work was done by another plumber for $350.

. It was a Sunday and my kitchen faucet started leaking badly, under the sink as well as onto the counter and floor. They were able to come in 20 minutes. He had to shut off the water to the house because the valves under the sink were frozen. He said the faucet had to be replaced [true] along with the shut-offs under the sink. He quoted me $720 to do the faucet, which included a new faucet, and $300 for the valves. He also suggested I could get 10% discounts if I bought a service contract for 99/month. I had to pay the 300 because I needed the water back on. Otherwise I would have booted him out right away. I think they get customers because of their responsiveness, courtesy, and their clean, professional look. Their prices are stunningly outrageous.

When I got home from work Jerrod Warner was here running a drain snake in the slow drain. The work was OK but he was being very pushy. Just because she is a woman does not mean he can take advantage of her lack of plumbing knowlege. We do NOT need a $3,000.00 water heater nor do we need to convert to all-electric. She already paid for the over priced enzime to put in all the drains, so I'll let that slide. Maybe it was just this one Tech, but he doesn't seem to know what NO means. Don't let this guy sell your wife a bill of goods.
Description of Work: My wife was complaining about a slow running drain and check a few other things as winter is on the way. She called Allen Plumbing and heating as we have had good service from them in the past.

ALL in ALL,this is a company that I had a horrendous experience with. I would never use them again nor would I recommend them to anyone. I experienced them , IN MY OPINION, to be arrogant, very very pricey, to not stand behind their work and to be rude and insulting and indifferent to their loyal customers . I have also filed complaints with the Fort Collins Better Business and the Consumer Division of the Colorado Attorney General's. Thanks and Good Lucking finding a good and honest and reliable plumber who backs up their work!
Description of Work: My boiler went out in January 2004. I hired Allen Service to replace at a cost of approximately $6200.00. The service bill stated that they had placed ethylene glycol in the system to prevent freezing should the house fall below 32 degrees. In the fall of 2007 I rented this house to two women, who are mother and daughter, and who run and operate a business that does horses camp and horse training and riding lessons in the FC/Windsor area. In February 2008 the pipes that were in a heated area ,the ceiling between the upper and lowest level, house is a tri-level, froze and ruptured due to the fact that the tenents failed to adequately heat the house to prevent freezing. Had the ethylene glycol been in place at a working level the pipes would not have frozen in spite of the two tenant allowing the house to go below 32 degrees in that area. It was below zero that night and the house was not adequately heated by the tenants and allowed to drop below 32 degrees. Allen Service was called out that morning and they denied any responsibility for the pipes freezing and rupturing. I paid them in excess of $1800.00. Plus I paid over $1000.00 to have the sheetrock repaired and painted. Then to add insult, MIke Wilson, Vice President of Allen Service meet in person, without my knowledge, with the tenants over the matter. Again, Mike Wilson both in a written letter and in a phone conversation denied any responsibility for Allen Service on the pipes freezing and the ethylene glycol levels being insuffecient to prevent rupture with 32 or below temperatures. The tenants at the time stated that the freezing temperatures in the home were not their fault either. Then to make all worse, one of the repaired pipes starting leaking in the fall of 2008. Allen Service was called out and they refused to repair claiming that it was not one of their repairs. Since they are the only ones who worked on the pipes just who's repair is it? I had to pay another company $402.00 to repair.

Called because I had a clogged kitchen sink, was told they would charge a $49 service fee. They came out and then quoted $380 to snake my kitchen sink line. I called another service and they came out and charged a total of $89 for the exact same work. I called Allen Service twice and left messages for the service manager, Mike D, asking him to call me back to discuss this quote and to find out if there was an error but neither of my calls were returned.

Our furnace was occasionally not coming on. I called them because they did service calls on Saturday for no extra charge. They missed the appointment time by over an hour and did not call. I called them, but they were decent about it and apologized. It was a Saturday and not a big deal. We did not need any parts, just a cleaning. I had the "tune up" performed, which I think is a waste of money, but did it anyway just to be sure there wasn t a major problem. The tech did show me the parts that could/would fail soon and how to fix them. That was worth the service call since I can replace them if I need to. They do have a coupon on their website. I would use them again.
