Description of Work: Dave was great to work with and pleasant in all regards. He also guided us with the correct type of roof ventilation we should have. Jose, Chappa, and Salvador did a great job and were kind through out the job. Dave showed up as the job was being finished and started helping the guys clean up. The inspector said the guys did a very good job.

Description of Work: Although we only requested an estimate and did not contract with Troost Roofing to perform the work, they were exceptionally responsive and professional and their estimate was very competitive. We did not contract with Troost as our roof was certified by an inspector and did not require extensive repairs.

I highly recommend Troost Roofing; 3400 West Greenwood Place; Denver, CO 80236; telephone 303-674-4667; to anyone needing a top quality roofing job done by a conscientious contractor. I had previously used Troost Roofing of Denver, CO to do a small repair on my roof when some tree branches knocked a few shingles off. Troost did a good, quick job for me then in patching the roof. Just recently, I discovered a leak in my garage due to a leaky roof under a small floating deck off of one bedroom. I was really crunched for time because we were going on vacation in just 15 days. In fact, we leave tomorrow! I called Troost Roofing for an estimate, and explained the situation and my need for a quick turn-around. Dave Evenson with Troost said he could finish the job before we left on our vacation. I?ve got to say that I have been impressed with Troost Roofing from start to finish. I can see how Troost earned an A+ rating with the Denver Better Business Bureau. Dave quickly answered every question or concern I had throughout the job. He helped me save a bundle of money by walking me through the steps I needed to do in temporarily removing the small deck myself. After the deck was removed, Dave?s crew came in and replaced the roof, despite having to dodge thunderstorms. Troost Roofing finished the job on time before we left on vacation. There were no hidden surprises either, which is always a plus. It will be nice to leave for our vacation tomorrow without having to worry about a leaky roof while we are gone!
Description of Work: Troost Roofing; 3400 West Greenwood Place; Denver, CO 80236; telephone 303-674-4667; replaced the roof under a small floating deck off of one bedroom. Troost installed 1/4 inch Densdeck fire-proofing board and a 60 mm class "A" fire-rated E.P.D.M. fully adhered rubber roof system (40 year manufacturer warranty).

We are pleased that we could correct the Cooley's roofing issues. William did a lot of carpentry prep work prior to our arrival, which was very helpful. He and his wife were very patient in awaiting a time that we could squeeze their job between larger jobs. It was a pleasure working w/ the Cooleys and hope they have an eventful vacation.

They were very accommodating and hope to work w/ them in the future. Again, thank you for including us in your project.

Professional quick and polite. This is our second experience with Troost, and they are a quality operation who I would reccomend unconditionally. They cleaned up after themselves and did not disturb the flower beds which was very important to us. We coud not have hoped for a better experience. They even complied with all of our HOA requirements and knew what they were prior to beginning the job.
Description of Work: We had exensve wind and hail damage. Our insurance company "totaled" our roof. Troost provided shingle options and accurate estimates. We needed a new roof.

The customer's were very easy to work with. Their home incurred wind damage, and Chris and Lori deftly handled the difficult waters of insurance replacement. Their beautiful home now sports a new roof and enhanced ventilation. Chris and Lori were also very patient in awaiting the arrival of some accessory materials for their specific type of roofing that happened to be out-of-stock @ the time of their roof replacement. We thoroughly enjoyed our experience with the customers and hope to hear from them in the future. Thank you for entrusting the work to Troost!

My experience with Troost was excellent. Because my house is pretty old and doesn't have great drainage, Dave Evenson made some great recommendations about how to improve the appearance. He did not pressure me to have him do this additional work, and my friend who is a carpenter finished it in a few days before the gutters were replaced. Dave also recommended larger downspouts which is something my property really needs because I have previously paid the price for bad drainage by replacing some of the foundation. I would have never known this was possible. I am extremely please with the new gutter system. It is a seamless system, which also improves the aestetiocs of the house considerably. This is my second experience using Troost and I would use them again. I think contractors who are excellent with communication, as Troost is, are hard to find. This company is very professional and they care about doing quality work and pleasing customers.
Description of Work: I e-mailed Troost and they responded within several hours of my e-mail. They scheduled an estimate for the very next day and sent me an estimate to replace the gutters on my house and garage. They scheduled with me and had the gutters replaced within a day. From start to finish the process was very easy and the work was done in a high quality manner.

This member has really given her home serious curb appeal. The previous owners had been a bit lax on upkeep, and let parts of the home fall into disrepair. She has done wonders to it's overall condition. Foundation repair, rebuilding walls, installing new fascia, removing deteriorated masonry, rebuilding eaves, and installing new gutters and roofing are just some of the improvements she has engaged in to make her home very attractive, once again. We wish to thank her for allowing Troost to participate in some of the improvements. It was an absolute pleasure working w/ her and hope we will again have the opportunity sometime in the future. Thank you!

The work crew, minus the company owner, Dave Everson, arrived early one morning in early December to shingle the roof. They made it very clear that they intended to roof the entire 25 squares of shingles in one day. The crew seemed efficient and it was obvious they had worked together for some time. Unfortunately, it was dark and below freezing by the time they reached the ridge cap shingles, which were to be installed over a plastic ridge cap. The next day I noticed that several sections of the ridge cap were not fully flush with the roof, and a number of nails were showing between the ridge cap and the roof. I called Everson and indicated this. Everson said he would talk with the foreman about this, and if there were problems that needed correction, the foreman and another person would fix those issues when they returned in a few days to install the gutter. The foreman came back to install the gutter, and he inspected the ridge cap at that time. He said that there were "no problems' and the job was correct as installed. I talked with Everson again about the situation, telling him that there were problems the foreman did not address. Evenson's tone changed entirely. He said that any problems with the roof were my doing, and he believed his foreman. Evenson never came to the job site at any point in the roof contract. He further insinuated that the entire problem, if it existed, was my fault for waiting so long into winter to complete the roof job. This was astounding considering his earlier comments about there being no problems with installations in the winter. Furthermore, he and I had agreed on the timeline for the roof install since earlier discussions in October. He ended up cancelling earlier roof installations at my house in order to do bigger jobs at other sites! Evenson's response to my concerns made it very clear that he was done with the situation, and any problems were on me. Everson's tone on the phone was intimidating, accusatory, and in direct contrast to the early conversations with him. It was clear that he was done with my roof, period. I took pictures of the ridge cap and emailed them to the ridge cap manufacturer. An engineer at the ridge cap company said that the ridge cap installation was the "worst he had ever seen" and that the current installation would have to be replaced entirely as it simply would not work. Considering the extremely unpleasant and unproductive conversations with Everson as well as his unwillingness to even look at the roof, I hired another roofing company to fix the ridge cap at an additional $2500 expense. Short of sueing Troost Roofing, it was clear that no resolution to the situation was possible. I have run a rental house business for over 20 years, and I have to say that Troost Roofing is the worst experience I have had with any contractors to date. All I can say is God forbid if you run into any problems with your roofing job, and God forbid if you get the same foreman who calls all the shots.
Description of Work: Troost was contracted to install top of the line, life-time shingles on our challet style house roof. The roof is a simple gable with a single ridgeline of approximately 25 squares of shingles. They were not responsible for the old roof tear off or decking, as we completed that work ourselves. I have roofed several houses myself, but chose to hire the shingling out due to the steep roof pitch (10/12).

Response from TROOST ROOFING
The owner, project managers, and crew of Troost Roofing take pride in our work and strive for complete customer satisfaction. This Member has deviated from the truth, in their account of the work that we performed for them and the level of customer service that we provided. This member contacted Troost in October to inquire about our availability to install their roof. We quoted them a reasonable price (which they accepted) and eagerly offered them an appointment for October. The homeowner asked that we delay the project date because they were in the process of framing the home. We had no idea that the project would be delayed until the middle of December, in temperatures below 20 degrees. It is customary to increase the price of a project performed under these conditions (or delay the project until the weather improves) but in an effort to maintain our high level of customer service, we agreed to perform the job and at the previously quoted price. Upon arrival to the job site, our specialist advised the member that their framing was out-of-square and the member informed us that they had run into issues during the framing process. After consulting with the member about the issue, we agreed to proceed with the installation, as best as possible. The ridge can only be applied to follow the current frame work. Because the frame installed by the homeowner was not straight or square, neither could be the ridge installation. When Troost returned to install the gutters, we attempted (free of charge) to install additional nails to enhance the aesthetics of the issue, because structurally, nothing could be done. With no further contact from the homeowner for two weeks, we assumed that the member was pleased with his service. He then called and threatened to sue Troost roofing for our inability to overcome previous framing errors (this cannot be done). Taken off guard, we immediately requested to meet him at his residence to discuss any issues that had arisen in his mind. He advised that we were no longer welcome on his property and that he would be contacting another company to attempt to perform the job and fix the framing. We prompted the homeowner to give us an opportunity to discuss the issue, as our contract requests that we be given the first opportunity to correct any alleged discrepancies. This member refused our offer and has not returned our phone calls. To date, we have not been paid for the gutters for this home. We decided as a company to absorb this loss, in an attempt to appease this member for their perception that we did not put forth enough effort to help his situation. This negative report comes as a surprise to us at Troost Roofing. We always have and always will strive for quality workmanship and unmatched customer service. We welcome the opportunity to demonstrate this in the future to all of our current and new customers! My experience with Angie’s List customers has been extremely positive. Every once in a while though, you will have a customer with illogical expectations that cannot be reasoned with. Despite our many efforts, such is the case with this homeowner. Because our goodwill efforts to reconcile have led to nothing other than threats (extortion, suing, withholding payment for work performed), we have closed this matter and will leave it to the homeowner to proceed

Finding this roofing company was my first experience using Angie's List. I wasn't sure how to sort through the companies. First I looked for a company with impeccable ratings, then I looked for the promise that I could e-mail them and they would respond within 24 hours. Only one company did that - and it was Troost. As I looked closer at the information, I saw that Troost really cares about the feedback they get and they respond to it. The estimate for my first roofing project was done quickly and the work was done in two days. Dave kept me informed of what was going on. The roof passed inspection. Because I was so satisfied with the first roof project, I asked them to take on a much more involved roof on an older house. Again, the communication was fantastic and the work was done quickly. I think the price I paid for the work done was fair, and when there was a small amount of additional required work, Dave would call and go over the details and options instead. I HIGHLY recommend this company.
Description of Work: Dave and his team replaced a roof on one of my houses. I was very happy with the experience, so I contacted them to replace another roof as well as gutters.

The whole process from start to finish was well organized and efficient. The tear off took just a day in less then perfect weather conditons (light snow and snow on the roof!!). The install took a few days and they then took us through a review of what had been done and made sure that we were aware of any structural issues (they were only minor and fixed on tthe spot). I would heartly reoommend Troost Roofing for any job in the Denver Metro area. We have since moved out of state and will not be able to use them again.
Description of Work: We were needing to sell our house and upon a recommendation of our real estate broker, we contacted a number of roofing companies and obtained bids. Troost Roofing's bid was comparable to others we recieved but their presentation for the job was the most compelling and professional. The roof was 17 years old and had been through many stressful weather events not the least of which was a 6' snowfall that put stress on the whole structure. Troost took the time to thoroughly inspect the roof and gave us a great assesment of the its current condtion and what the future cost would be if we did not act in a timely manner. Troost then gave us an opportunity to review the many levels of roofing materials that would be best suited for our environment with the commensurate pricing and installation costs. We accepted their bid and they began the process within a couple of days.

Exceptional service, superior workmanship, prompt, thorough, and professional. I would absolutely recommend Troost Roofing. The owner, Dave, recommended a new roof tile that set our house apart from the others in the neighborhood and got it approved by our insurance company so it cost us nothing. The new roof looks so much better than the old roof; it helped sell our house quickly in a terrible market. He anticipated a code issue that saved us a lot of hassle when we sold the house. Plus he went above and beyond to ensure everything needed was submitted to the insurance company and approved so we didn't incur any expense. There was a huge difference in workmanship between our old roof and our new roof. I had no idea what a difference it would make for curb appeal. Dave was extremely knowledgeable and his service was exceptional. Our neighbors had their roof done a few months before and it took forever, they found trash, nails, and debris in the yard for months, and it looked half as good as our roof. Even our flashing looked great. Troost looked at another neighbor's roof and found that the roof was fine and it didn't need replacing. Lots of companies, I suspect, would've been happy to replace the roof even though it didn't need to be replaced. The other bids we got were cheaper, but didn't include everything. Then these other companies were adamant we sign a contract before the details or the pricing was finalized. I wasn't willing to sign a contract not knowing what the insurance would and would not cover. These other guys kept telling me that they'd work out the details after I signed their contract. In contrast, Troost contacted my insurance company directly, made a case for the additional work, and got it approved before I even hired them. The fact that the other companies had been in business fewer than two years while Troost had been in business for over 25 made a huge difference too. They even shoveled the roof off after a storm to get it done on time. I would hire them again and not even bother to get other bids--they made everything that easy. Our out of pocket for the entire roof was $60 and Dave made sure we knew all our choices for that $60!
