I have a Sears appliance warranty, so they did warranty work. Its a sixty dollar co-charge. It was easy, easy. I called an made an appointment, and they were on time. They called ahead, and what I like about their service, they usually have the part with them, and if they don't, someone near them does. So, they can get the work done that day.

They slotted a time slot between 8 and 12. Received a message at 11:20 that they time slot was now 11:00 to 2:00. I had already taken half a day away from work and now they were going to be even later. This is not acceptable. I called Sears and the customer service person said there is nothing they will do for us. I cancelled the appointment.

I made an appointment and waited a week for the repairman to show up between 10am and 2pm. He showed up around 1pm. The salesman was very nice but showed up in a van with different markings than Sears. He inspected my fridge and said the condenser fan motor was out which I had suspected. He had no parts so he left to get one. The old fan blade was so brittle when he went to replace the motor the blade broke. He then informed me that he had no new blade and would have to order one. He then installed the broken blade back on. The fridge at that point made a horrible noise because it was out of balance due to missing one of the 3 fan blades. The repairman then inserted some cardboard so the fan housing unit wouldn't shake as much. He told me the new fan blade would arrive on Monday and showed me how to install it myself so I could save money by not paying Sears another $99 service fee. This appointment was on Jan 27th so waiting until the 31st seemed like an ok solution. I paid the repairman $263.30 in cash and received my receipt. However, the new blade arrived on Saturday Feb 4th an entire week later. While I was at work the fridge stopped cooling and defrosted my entire freezer. I came home to a pool of water in my kitchen and was forced at 3am to clean and dispose of my thawed out beef. I lost about $200 in groceries in total. I have no idea when the fridge broke down and how long my fridge was pouring out water. The fridge side was blowing hot air so all that food had to be thrown away so my family wouldn't get sick from bacteria poisoning. Now the wooden floor is destroyed. It's warped and ruined. When the blade arrived it was not the correct part. The blade was so small it would make contact with the housing unit and wouldn't turn. I called at 10am on Superbowl Sunday Feb 5th and after being transferred and hung up on multiple times a very nice lady set up another appointment for Feb 8th for another repairman to come perform the original service repair. I also now am waiting for Sears insurance to come out to tell me what they're going to do to repair my floor. I do not know how this is going to turn out but it's been a nightmare so far. With the days I have to take off work now for these repairs plus the repair fee I've realized it would have been easier and cheaper to buy a new fridge. After they are finished I will never be using Sears Home Repair again for any services offered.
Description of Work: I called Sears to have my Samsung refrigerator repaired because I noticed it was hot between the two sides and after taking off the back the fan wasn't moving.

We bought a new Whirlpool washer and had to call within a month because the washer kept stopping mid-cycle. It turned out there was too much hair stuck in the drain pipe for it to empty. In looking at it, he said Whirlpool had changed their design this year and it was a very narrow drain, designed to stop money like dimes from getting through. Needless to say our washer is going to have frequent service calls because it cannot push the dog hair through. I am unhappy with that.
Description of Work: We called for the dryer. It was not working properly. He looked at it and said it needed a new belt. That was replaced easily. Then we asked him to check out the washer which was not spinning all of the water out. He said it was a ball bearing that was going out and it would be cheaper for us to get a new washer than to repair the old one. We asked his advice on what kind of washer to get. He said they have had the fewest problems with Whirlpool.

We had repair people come and go for 6 months before they finally figured out the problem and fixed it. There was no continuity of service, as they kept sending out different repair people. None of them were up-to-date on our problem, and recommended solutions that were tried earlier. For months, they could not collectively figure out the cause of the problem. They replaced the control board and some other mechanical parts (none of which needed replacing). We were without a dishwasher for months. Finally, a repair person showed up that had a clue and he ordered the correct part and fixed it.
Description of Work: New dishwasher leaked and was fixed under warranty. The leak damaged a second part which eventually failed. The dishwasher would quit mid-cycle. Repair was made out of warranty.

The technician came on time, was very professional and knowledgeable and indicated that we needed a new lid switch to resolve the problem. He gave me the estimated and I approved the work to be done. He had the part and within minutes the work was done. They have a required 79 service fee and after applying the Angie's List 20% coupon to the labor and parts it cost us roughly $100 to fix not including the service fee.

I was satisfied with the work. they fixed the machine the way they were supposed to. Two men came over and I was skeptical because one really looked sketchy. He kept walking around my house which made me feel uncomfortable. He was weird. Also, they were pretty expensive. I would not use them again.

We were not happy with the person that came out to service our washer. We did get it fixed, but there was some questionable things that happened during that visit. Make sure you get a qualified technician. He was clearly in over his head. He spent half hour outside talking to someone on the phone.

We didn't actually have any repairs. He just charged us for the home visit. The price is fine. They diagnosed it correctly so the quality was great. They identified the problem and fixed it. Basically, they just had to clean out a filter that I didn't know about.

The actual work went fine. In order to get someone to come out they direct your call to India. It took several times to get someone who knew what they were doing to come out and they charge you every time someone came out. They're a little overpriced. Their communication is terrible. The guy that showed up and did the work was fine. I would only use them again if I absolutely had to.

Part arrived after 11 days. Repair person showed up--not a Sears repair person--they must have farmed it out. He replaced the part--about a 15 minute job, then said there was an additional $40 charge. Which I refused to pay! He left after speaking with his supervisor..
Description of Work: Replace part on gas dryer. Service person had to order part-cost $262.57. Then said it would not be delivered for 11 days--no reason why. This was a Sears repair person.

The repair person did fix the workings of the microwave so it runs again, but now the door does not close properly (so I am concerned about leaking microwaves), and the bottom vent panel was reinstalled upside down. I'm very frustrated that we now have to call Sears again and ask them to come back out to fix the repair!

Very difficult and rigid with no decision making authority delegated to the repair people. Will never enter a Sears store again.
Description of Work: I had a faulty dishwasher that leaked and caused $35k of damage. Sears would not even replace the dishwasher after causing this hardship to me an my family. I have been out of my kitchen now for 5 months. Other companies like Whirlpool paid a portion, but Sears did not own up.

If I didn't bring the machine in to him I would have to pay him to come out, pick it up and fix it. They would pay for the repair, but they wouldn't pay for picking it up. They have started to really s*ck. My family is a Sears family; we have always gotten their warranties. It is just something my families have always done. Lately they have outsourced everything and it is really a disappointment. I never did get the lawnmower fixed. I just bought another one. That was stupid. They have high quality stuff. They are nice people. It is not the people that work with you day-to-day that are making the policies. I have everything in my house that is warranted with them.
