Paradise technician (John) came to my home and checked out my AC unit. I live in a condo and it is a unit that has an outside boxy unit and an inside piece that sucks the air in. Everything would turn on but the air was not cold. John opened up my outside unit and ran several tests to find out specifically what wasn't working. He even went to his vehicle once to get an extra piece of testing equipment. He determined the compressor was bad (just wouldn't start) and advised me on multiple options...replace just the compressor, replace the compressor and condensor (the entire outside piece), or even replace the outside and inside parts, which he did not recommend because the inside is fine. After I thought about it and talked to John one more time, I decided to go ahead and replace the compressor and condensor because it was a SUPER OLD unit. John agreed that was a good way to go and he gave me the quote of $1400. The installers came and did the work a few days later, John even let me pay with credit card after the work was done and the installers did a great job. They respected my place, kept things tidy, etc. What really impressed me was John had to do a lot of research because my components were so old, and I had two other companies come out before them and they didn't even run any tests on my system at all...just said the compressor was bad and gave me a large quote. I'm glad I went with Paradise...their expertise saved me thousands and they made it very easy.

John, the owner, kept in contact with me regarding the timing of the visit. An appointment was scheduled and the tech was prompt. Ryan, the tech, was polite, professional and thorough. He gave a very detailed feedback on the state of the air conditioner and advised that it should be leveled to perform even better. He offered to do the leveling, but my husband agreed to do it himself later. I was very pleased with the service provided for such a nominal cost.

I got the Angie’s List Big Deal and I thought they were pretty good. They said they would call me back but I haven’t heard back so I’m not sure what is up.

John arrived promptly and explained in detail what his service would entail. He also explained in detail each step he took in performing the service., In the end he gave my furnace a clean bill of health.

They had a deal online. I bought their deal and they check the air conditioner in two of my houses. As far as nothing goes wrong, the money would be well spent. They did what they said they were going to do. I would continue to use them in the future.

The guy who came to my house was Manuel. He was on time. I used him through an email special from Angie’s List where I got a discount. He was skilled, did his job well and all that, but the primary relief was that he did not try to cheat me. He was extremely professional and very thorough and took a long time going through everything. He went into a portion of my air conditioner system that had never been checked before by any of the service technicians I had used; in fact, I did not know that he could go in there and check it. He was very detailed about what he was finding and the recommendations that he had for operating my system. In the past, I have had people come out to do these annual checkups, and without exception, they had tried to get me to spend a whole lot more money on things which they said absolutely had to be done. I have some understanding of technology, so I doubted their truthfulness and what they were telling me. One of the things the previous technician had tried to do was to tell me that the capacitor on my fan blower motor was bad and needed to be replaced to the tune of around $160. When I questioned him about how he knew it was bad and why I needed one, he could not answer my question. Another guy had told me that my air conditioner was low on coolant and needed to be recharged, which was going to cost me a couple of hundred dollars, and I told him that my system was cooling totally fine; if it was low on coolant, it wouldn’t have been working well. He proceeded to explain to me that it might show up in another way. In contrast, Manuel was fabulous. He went over the same things and found nothing wrong at all. I was extremely impressed with him and was greatly relieved. I would rate him highly and would absolutely use him if I ever happened to have a problem.

Awesome. System checked out fine. No attempt to sell me anything!!! Very different from past experiences when tune-up was a scam to hit me with unneeded repairs. I will definitely use them in the future.

I was very pleased with their services. They called and told me that they were going to be little bit late. They did the service that we needed and I think it was a good pack. I would rate them high overall. Their price was very good. I would use them again the future.

We called to schedule the service and received a very prompt schedule day (the next day). The job was much more detailed than we expected due to our furnace configuration but they were able to go ahead with the job anyway, even though it took his whole day to complete. The owner also called to advise us and the service tech while he was here on how to proceed with the complicated project (they had to move a gas line). The owner spoke to us extensively about house humidifiers, heating bills and recommend changes for our furnace to help lower our bills. Overall, very satisfied. Great customer service.

These units are over 10 years old, but everything is working fine. Just wanted to be sure.

Great experience. They set up an appointment for a specific day and time, not a 4 to 6 hour window like lots of other companies do. They were prompt, cheerful and very helpful. One furnace has a motor that is still working but the technician suggested that it might be getting old and I should consider replacing it soon, There was no pressure to do it now! I was very pleased with the whole experience.

I called and scheduled an appointment for the next afternoon and one of the technicians from their small team arrived right on time. As suspected, the furnace required a new Hot Surface Ignitor and he had one readily available in his truck. In the course of replacing the Ignitor, he also discovered a small clog in an adjacent part. After thoughtful consideration, he was able to easily unclog this element and get the furnace back in operation. The technician also took the time to explain what had happened and what preventative steps I should consider to extend the life of my furnace (and Ignitor). Paradise was friendly, professional, prompt and got the job done efficiently and within a reasonable price. My furnace works better now than it did all last season! I appreciated the high marks found here on Angie's List as the company lived up to them. I'm considering having AC installed in the spring and Paradise Heating & Cooling will certainly be the first company I call!

Excellent, I recommend this company highly. They are GOOD in returning phone calls, which is not common in customer service anymore. They are very reasonably priced, no pressure, no hard sell, just PLAIN GOOD SERVICE without all the frills of the big companies.

I tried my a/c at the beginning of the season and everything was fine. Then in July, I discovered after approx. 3 hrs. water would come from the ceiling - I have a heat pump for my condo. I immediately shut it off and called the company that had serviced the heat pump for the winter last October. They had done an excellent job then and I hoped we were looking at some minor repair on this round. After a thorough search, I was told not a repair but total replacement with just under $4,000 for the outside roof unit. After the other company's high $ estimate, I kept checking around and a friend referred me to Paradise Heating and Cooling. The owner, John Demereckis, went on the roof and believed the unit on the roof was still in working condition. He then came inside, removed the ceiling tiles (which the other company had also done) and found many years of accumulated dust causing the condensation in my unit. After a very thorough cleaning, he said to run it and everything has been perfect since. I would definitely recommend Paradise Heating and Cooling. After this excellent experience, I went ahead and used them a second time - this time in replacing my hot water heater (done on 8/26/10). Again, they provided excellent service, were punctual, and all at a good price. Give them a call for your HVAC needs; you won't regret it.

My electric hot water heater was many years past its expiration date - approx. 17 years actually. And the reset button and I had become friendly enemies. After using Paradise Heating and Cooling for HVAC needs, I scheduled for them to come to replace the hot water heater. (Before my initial experience with Paradise Heating and Cooling, I had checked out several listings under the hot water heater replacement on Angie's List - made many calls - and the range was from mid-$600 to $1,500.) The team - Manuel and Dave - were both very courteous, punctual, and highly professional. I feared coming up to my third floor condo would be daunting, but it was not a problem for them. After they replaced the hot water heater, they hauled away the old one - no doubt much to the delight of our condo association since some people have gone against the HOA rules and simply trashed them in our dumpsters. Overall, it was an excellent experience, one I wish now I had done sooner instead of hoping the reset button would oblige one more time.

We purchased a house that was advertised as all new mechanical in 2007. The inspection revealed that the furnace was 14 years old and installed without a permit and not to code (no air vent to the outside). As part of our concessions we required the furnace be replaced and done so with a permit and brought up to code. We are in an extremely old house made of brick and stone, and installing the air vent required drilling through about 3 feet of solid stone and for a chimney liner to be installed. John, the owner competed against multiple bids for a high efficiency furnace install and provided, by far, the best price. In addition, he notified us of all the rebates and tax credits associated and made sure he had all the paperwork in order for us to send in to take advantage of the rebates and credits. The day of the removal and install went without a hitch. They covered the carpet with plastic walkways so as not to make a mess, and left no trace behind when they were finished. The furnace he recommended came with an excellent warranty and was installed in a timely fashion and with no sales pressure. John even suggested things we could eliminate to help with the pricing IE double blower on the furnace that would take years and years of electric bills to make up for the increased pricing on the unit. John was an honest, old school small business man that really went out of his way to be fair with his pricing and take care of his customer. He knows his trade like the back of his hand and provided an excellent install of the furnace which now runs smoothly and quietly. Never once did we feel he was trying to up-sell or make us buy something we really didn't need. John will always now be our "furnace guy" and next year when we install central air, we will be using him again.

I was making preparations to sell the home. The previous home owner had not run the air conditioning unit for 10 years. I wanted to make certain it was in good working order. I have a seasonal service evaporator cooler as well that served my cooling needs. He was very honest, knowledgeable and cleaned up after the job.
