Excellent experience. See review under "services performed"
Description of Work: Took advantage of Paradise's $69 A/C tune-up and cleaning. A/C unit is 14 years old, but runs well. My fear of any service company is that they will try to upsell, or tell you that things need to be repaired or replaced. Paradise, and their service agent, Ryan, did neither. Ryan was prompt, courteous and considerate, competent, and told me everthing he was doing. He inspected, cleaned, and "tuned-up" the A/C unit just as advertised. He gave me tips on how to improve airflow in house, and how to maintain unit. When I asked him if the freon gas needed replacing, he told me that a lot of companies say you need to replace it every year, but that it is a scam......i.e., if your unit is in good running condition, and maintains its tight seal, then the gas never needs to be replaced. Paradise gave my A/C a clean bill of health. I would use this company again in a heartbeat, and would highly recommend them to others. Good job, Ryan, and Paradise!!!!

Although he arrived quite a bit later than promised, Manuel was friendly, honest, and clearly knew what he was doing. The repair was very good, including explaining things along the way. I don't do this kind of stuff often, but would guess that the price was perfectly reasonable.
Description of Work: A/C was not working, and smoke had been coming from the furnace the first time I turned on the A/C for the season. Turned out to be a burned out transformer.

He was polite and seemed to know what the problem might be, but he did spend a lot of time on the phone. He did not fully explain what I should do in the future, other than to say, if it did not last out the summer, I should consider buying a new unit. Now I am also concerned about replacing the filter. I was left feeling very off base, not knowing if I should be worried about the refrigerant running around in my house or whether it would be OK? As to whether the job was finished or not.. I guess it was as I now have heat and the air conditioner blows cool air. I am one of those people who don't like to complain, I just tend to walk away, but that would not fulfill the purpose of Angie's so I thought I should explain why I would probably not re-hire Paradise.
Description of Work: Ipurchased a coupon on May 7th and made an appointment to have by air conditioner checked out as I was having a problem with it. The unit was operating but the cool air was not blowing into the house. I was called by a technician an an appointment was set for 11:am. I am not sure just which day but within a day or so of the 10th. I got a call the day I called, and another on the morning of the appointment and was advised that they had an opening for an earlier time and was it all right if they came earlier. When he got there it was not the person who had made the original appointment. I know I should have asked for ID but I did not. He said his name was Manuel. This was a coupon deal, and I admit I am confused by the service. I discovered another problem with my Heating unit after I had arranged the appointment, I had turned the heat on and the unit was operational but the heat was not blowing into the house. I then asked him to look at it. I explained that last fall I had a fan in the furnace unit repaired by another company. I was afraid the same problem had re-occurred as the symptoms of "no fan" activity were the same. I showed him the receipt for the previous service and explained I would like to have that checked as I felt it could be the source of my current problem. After her looked at it he advised me that I had probably dislodged some wires when I was replacing the filter and it was not a problem with the replaced device. He then went on to spend a few minutes with my air conditioner. I had mentioned my brother thought it might be a leak. He said yes it was and he had recharged the refrigerant, but could not spend any more time to check to find the leak. I might be all right until fall or I might need to have them come back. This is where it got crazy, as he said the refrigerant had possibly flowed out into the pipes into the house and it could be "sucked" back into the unit on another call. I mean if it was flowing into the house couldn't that be a problem? And he left after running a hose onto the conditioner, without a receipt or any further information. I am not sure this man was actually an employee of Paradise. I suspect he was a sub contractor and if he was he did not identify himself as such.

We apologized to the member for the lack of communication and came back to make sure she was okay with what was done and understood the condition of her equipment. She reassured us of her appreciation and we left on good terms. We will learn from this to keep lines of communication open and make sure our customers are satisfied before we leave.

This was my best experience with a contractor in decades. I will use this company forever! I recommend them.
Description of Work: I has the technician, Ryan, inspect the condition of my furnace as a second opinion. I didn't tell him what the previous company told me. Ryan found that it was functioning fine and nothing needed repair. The previous company inspected the furnace and said that so many repairs are needed that I would be best off getting an entirely new furnance. THANK YOU RYAN! He found a minor problem with the vent from the basement that goes outside from the furnace. He'll be back next month to fix that and to provide us with some new vent covers. Ryan also prepared my air conditioner for the upcoming hot season. Ryan also prepared my air conditioner for the upcoming hot season.

Everything was great. Ryan did a great job troubleshooting our old furnace and A/C in our 100+ year old house. The price was very reasonable. Now our furnace fan works again and the 3rd floor of our old house is cool and comfortable. We'll definitely call on them again!
Description of Work: Check out our ancient furnace, figure out why the fan wasn't working and fix it. Give our vintage 1969 air conditioner a check and refill it with coolant.

I called on Monday and got an estimate. My phone call was answered promptly. I was impressed that John wanted to call me back because he was driving. John gave me several options for my thermostat that helped with my particular situation. Ryan was my technician. He was very professional and took time to answer my questions and show me how the new thermostat worked. He cleaned up after he was finished. He also looked at my window air conditioner per my request. I would like to receive a call within about 30 minutes of the arrival time so I don't have to hang out waiting. I will definitely call this company in the fall when it is time to check my furnace for the season or with any other HVAC questions.
Description of Work: They replaced my wall thermostat with a wireless thermostat. My old thermostat was ripped out of the wall. They also put a wall plate overt the exposed wires.

Manuel arrived right on time and I was immediately impressed by his friendly professionalism. Also he put up with our protective, loud little dogs.... kudos! He inspected all parts of our air conditioner and furnace, and determined that there was a blockage that was keeping our house from being adequately cooled. Basically our AC was having to work much, much harder than should have been necessary. He gave us an immediate estimate and set to work cleaning and clearing... lo and behold, deep in the ductwork was a folded up, dusty, filthy, ancient air filter, probably left behind by the builders 7 years ago. Wish we had called Paradise back then! The final bill was $30 less than the estimate. Already we can see a difference in our AC performance. Odds are, we won't need Paradise for AC services again, but I am confident we will be using them for an inspection of our heating system.
Description of Work: We had an inspection, testing and recharge of our AC, and a removal of a very troublesome blockage.

I used Angie's list to get quotes from 4 highly rated Heating and A/C vendors in the Denver Area... After having Brothers give us an initial bid that seemed very high. It was interesting to see how each vendor presented themselves... some were laid back.. some took the time to cover their shoes before entering our house. Paradise thought I wanted a simple repair and sent a service tech out.. he gathered the details and took them back to their shop. I received a quote which was competitive.. The Owner took the time to come over and go over every detail we agreed to go ahead... and everything was done up to code quickly and we had heat by the weekend... I would recommend paradise heating to anyone.

Technician arrived at the time he said he would. He inspected the hot water heater and then inspected the furnace. He wqwas pleasnat and professional iun his manner and described what he was doing and what he was finding. Upon finding the misisng screws in my vent duct, he wehn t out to his truck and got screws and a power screwdriver and repaired the probelem. He then vacumed the furnace interior and exterior to remove dust and debrie that had built up over time. He then wrote up his insectiona nd findings and gave it to me. He was in out and quickly, but took his time to do the job right. Though he recived a number of calls whiule he ewas at my home, he deferred talkingto the perosn who called until after he left.

On Sept. 23, 2011, we had Paradise Heating and Cooling come and service our air conditioner. It was working all right but had not been checked for a few years. Ryan arrived right on time and got to work. He was very pleasant and knowledgeable, and answered all my questions. He took off his shoes before entering the house, even though the weather was dry. We had arranged to have the service that was covered by a special price, which consisted of checking, cleaning and measuring the outside components. The evaporator is in the attic, and had never been checked, so we asked him to do that for an extra charge. He climbed into the tight space and brushed out the evaporator and resealed the cover. He said it wasn’t very dirty, which I was glad to hear. The charges were fair and just what we expected. Would hire them again.

It was okay. They seemed very knowledgeable and experienced. They did a good job installing the loops for the chains and putting a bracket underneath for extra support. We felt the cooler was very stable and secure. We had such strong chains from the previous installation location, they decided to use our chains instead of providing their own. They did not have the materials (cut-to-fit hard plastic panels and installation channel) for sealing the window on the sides of the cooler. I had to order these myself from the manufacturer (Essick Air) because only the accordion ones were available at Home Depot & Lowe's. It's not a big deal, but it seems like they should have simple materials like this in stock. Also, this delayed the installation a couple weeks until I could get these parts in the mail from the manufacturer. We REALLY did not like how they did the caulking of the panels in the spaces on each side of the cooler in the window. The caulking was uneven, smeared over on the panels, and even had a spot that was too thin so there was a small hole that wasn't sealed. It was sloppy and aesthetically unappealing. Aren't you supposed to wipe off the excess when you caulk? When I pay for a professional installation, I expect them to be more careful and take a few extra minutes to make the caulking look really CLEAN, EVEN, and solid. Some people care about how things look...I would have gladly paid for the extra 15-30 minutes it would have taken to make the caulking look really nice. I was genuinely surprised at how careless and sloppy it looked. There was a mix-up with payment amount just before they left. They asked for a different price from the phone quote we got, but they didn't know why it was different. They tried to call their manager and couldn't reach him for 15 minutes. It was really awkward and frustrating. I wanted to pay cash, so I wanted to pay them for the work at the time instead of sending a check later. I told them to not worry about it and I'll just pay them the slightly higher amount they asked (I was so irritated I just wanted them to leave), but the one guy was trying to be nice and insisted on reaching his manager before he left. He finally reached the manager and confirmed the lower amount. I was glad to have gotten a phone quote, and I completely understand that things can change when the work is done. But this price discrepancy was simply due to a miscommunication with their manager. They should have handled it amongst themselves before coming to do the work. There has been an Angie's List article about people using the bathroom. I don't mind, but I think they should ask first. While we were discussing the payment issue, the other guy (who was talking on his cell phone for a while, something unrelated to the job) just used our bathroom without asking. In the context of the other things I was unhappy about, this really irritated me and I thought it was unprofessional. I even ask before using the bathroom when visiting an acquaintance or friend. I think common courtesy and respect would dictate that a total stranger should ask before using the bathroom in my house. It irked me at the time, but after I looked closely at the sloppy caulking later his use of the bathroom in the context of the whole experience bothered me significantly more. It just started to create a picture of disrespect and not caring. I was going to give them a little courtesy tip (I had already set aside the money before I had a chance to closely inspect the work), but the guy who used the bathroom left in his separate car first. He had chatted with me earlier, so I was surprised when he left without saying anything. It just seemed weird. They left a small bucket of screws on the porch (it was almost empty so I didn't call about it). We thought it was a little strange when 2 days later our cooler stopped working. The float arm screw loosed a little, so the pan in the bottom wasn't filling with water AND the t-connector in the top of the cooler became clogged with some straw (from the cooling pads inside). We fixed both of these things ourselves. We wondered if they would have looked at the inside of the cooler to make sure these basic things were working right, but we HAD only hired them for an installation. No one asked us if we wanted a cooler check-up, and I'm not even sure if that's a service they provide. They were the lowest quote we got, and it was a solid, stable installation. So I am happy about that at least. If I ever worked with them again, I would try to be really remedially clear about how I want the work to look and tell them slow down or schedule extra time so it looks nicer.

I purchased a coupon for an AC checkup. I based my choice of Paradise on all of the wonderful reviews here on Angie's List and I am glad I did! A friend recently had the same thing done with another company and while they did the AC checkup they also gave her a list of "other" services that were needed that added up to $900! She got a second opinion and none of these services were needed, but were designed to frighten her and separate her from $900!!! On the other hand, Ryan of Paradise, was efficient and knowledgeable. He took care of the checkup and didn't try to sell me other services. I am sold on Paradise ad will use them for my winter furnace tune-up and an upcoming replacement of a hot water heater.
Description of Work: I purchased an AC tune-up coupon on Angie's List. Within 24 hours I had a phone call from John Demereckis, the owner, to schedule my appointment. I wan't ready to schedule yet, but, when I called a few days later John scheduled Ryan to come out on a Tuesday at 3:30pm. On the day of service, Ryan was held up by a stopped train. He called to inform me he would be a few minutes late as he was taking an alternate route. Amazing!

It was done on time, it was easy, reasonably priced and done in such a way that I knew I could rest easy.
Description of Work: I have told everyone I know about Paradise Heating & Cooling. John, the owner, is wonderfully responsive and knowledgeable. His staff is professional and some of the nicest people you will ever meet. I've had Paradise work on a evaporative cooler leak -- I wish Paradise had installed the evaporative cooler, originally, but they did not. However, they knew exactly what to do to ensure that the leaking ceased and that we would not have to deal with leaking again. I was so impressed by their work on this job that I have asked them to install an evaporative cooling system over at another property. Be warned: Paradise is very thorough!! If you are looking for some fly-by-night company to come in, do a bit of work and then slap you with an inflated invoice --- don't call Paradise. When they came to evaluate my cooling needs, they also checked-out my furnace and hot water heater -- Today, they installed a new hot water heater because my previous heater had rusted out and was on a schedule to blow! Take it from me, Paradise Heating & Cooling practices old-fashioned customer service. As soon as John answers the telephone; your blood pressure decreases -- He goes the extra mile to make certain that your needs are not only taken care of but that your expectations are met and exceeded. They are simply the best!!
