Handyman Connection of Golden

The Handyman Connection scheduler was very polite and able to connect me with an installer within several days. When the orginal installer became ill, they called right away and had someone to step into the assignment. He came promptly, provided an estimate after measuring carefully, and was able to set up the installation of the corner round the next day. He proivided quality skills and did some amazing cuts, which hid some less than professional places in the flooring installation (self installed) for which I am very grateful. He was neat and careful and finished product is great putting the perfect final touch on the new flooring.

It went pretty well. We worked with Jerry on the initial estimate (took maybe a half hour). The diagnosis was that they could replace the subfloor section and linoleum and after some scheduling, have things back to normal in a day or two. Jerry was very good to work with. When they actually got into the job, they discovered that the floor was wet enough that it would need some drying time, and that the flange needed to be replaced. A plumber was called, and the flange was fixed same day. After the weekend to dry, they came back on Monday (8/1) to finish the job. Every appointment was kept and the crew was professional at all times. The way Handyman Connection works is that they supply the labor and you supply the parts. In this case, Jerry was willing to purchase some parts or had them on-hand (we reimbursed him), but we bought the linoleum. I have no problem with that; it seems like a very reasonable approach. This job took 5 days instead of 1-2 because of the unknown floor damage. No complaints on that -- rotting wood is not a good idea. Overall, I'm giving Handyman Connection 5 stars on everything but price. They worked with us and worked hard to get things done quickly without sacrificing "getting it right." And, they did get it right. No more leaks and the replacement linoleum was a bit of a bonus for a really tired old bathroom. The price thing... $290 to have a plumber come in for a half hour and replace a $5 toilet flange seemed a little over the top. Most important: problem fixed, and with very little brain damage on my part. Based on my experience, I would use them again.

As work progressed it became apparent that they had no intention of actually repairing the higher of the two vents (about 25 feet high), which was the primary reason why they had been hired. They claimed that the vent was "too high" and that they couldn't carry a ladder on top of their van. I've never encountered a handyman who can't transport a ladder before, and that vent certainly didn't get any higher after they first saw it. I can only conclude that they never had any intention of completing work on that vent, and that they misled my father and I as a ploy to get the additional work. Most of the additional work was done reasonably well, although they were unable to do the wood prep work required on one window before applying exterior paint. My family had to do that prep work ourselves, which partially defeated the purpose of hiring a handyman in the first place.

There were two different people who worked and they did a good job. They were very responsive. It was good experience overall. They were very helpful. They kept suggesting what I wanted to do and answered all my questions. I didn’t understand the way they charged and they worked it out with me. They painted in a different manner and I got upset about it and they didn’t to that. So they replaced some kind of charging issue that I reacted very strongly and they made sure that it didn’t happen. They said that it was standard charge and no one had told me that there was a standard charge. They money issues was little complicated. They had two different workers and one guy was a master plumber and I wanted a master plumber.

They are very good. I prefer them over another company. The gentleman that came out was very professional and very seasoned. They will figure out how to do something. I had them totally rebuild a 20-year old playground. It was one of those big wood ones with a tower on that. That is phenomenal because we spend a lot of time. It also looks great and sturdy. It's just that extra effort that I really appreciate because they have pride in their work. I am going to give them a call this week for installing some cabinets that I got. The price for the last service was in the $300 range. The handyman was here for a number of hours when he last came out. They put up cabinets in a bathroom and they put up towel racks. They put up a picture frame hanging system. They did a lot of odds and ends. They were excellent. Their price was average and right in the market. I would recommend them for their professionalism and the ability to problem solve.

They were great, and I really enjoyed their work. Their price, punctuality, reliability and quality of service were good. They seemed like a well organized professional company. I did not have any complications. I would rate them highly.

I have used them for a couple things. They are pretty good. I thought they were pretty reasonable. The guy was knowledgeable, friendly, and nice. He couldn't have been more helpful.

It went very well. The field supervisor was very friendly and explained what was wrong with the original framing to the closet and why it was deemed unsafe. He also offered a coupon that Handyman Connection offered,which we were not originally aware of. The handyman who did the actual work was very professional, friendly and did a great job. They were able to schedule his services on last minute notice before a major holiday. I would definitely use them again for general handyman services.

Their prices were reasonable. The painter did a really good job and it looks great. He had to do a lot because, we had oil based paint on there before and he had to do all the stuff with the primer which was a lot of work. My overall experience was good. I will be using them in the future.

Jeff came to give us an estimate and said he could also stay and perform the work right away. We accepted his bid and he finished all the jobs in just a few hours. When jobs could be fixed at a lower cost (e.g., sanding and resealing doors rather than hanging new ones), he suggested the least costly method and made it work out as well as the more costly method. Jeff was very professional and easy to work with.

First Estimate: Handyman Connection was easy to deal with for initial estimates. Their craftsman was punctual, and asked questions to ensure he understood that tasks that I was asking for. Price: Their pricing on my tasks were better than several other companies (hence the A grade). I like that they bid on the labor and either let you provide the materials yourself or they can order it/pick it up and give you a receipt for the materials. that way you know you aren't having the materials be marked up on you. Communications and Courtesy: I took a while to decide because of more water problems after the initial consultation, and the receptionist that called to check up on my decision was ver courteous and understanding about my delay. During the projecct the Craftsman was very nice, and he kept me informed of how things were going and what he was doing. He kindly answered my questions what I came down to check progress. Scheduling: Once they were hired and scheduled I received a phone call about 5 days before the job was supposed to start informing me that the craftsman that did my estimate, who I checked references on, and who I specifically delayed the start of the job to get would not be available and they would have to send someone else. I wasn't happy about that but agreed to keep the job with the new craftsman. The original estimate was for 3 days of work. He took 3.5 but mainly because I had a few add-ons. Technical Performance: Once the job started the Craftsman did good work. Since he wasn't the craftsman who did the original estimate we walked through and discussed the tasks, and then he went to Home Depot to purchase materials. It was easy and painless. his drywall and texturing work look great. He covered areas nicely to prevent mud/paint splatter on kitchen cabinets, carpets, etc. my home gym area was installed with custom cuts on puzzle--piece style mats so that they fit snug to the walls and won't shift when I work out. He also got a thick TV component cable snaked through the walls which I was not able to do myself and installed a nice outlet with cable pass throughs where we wanted the TV. The garage floor paint kit was applied properly. It was one of those kits that comes with little color flakes that go into the paint for texture. He ran out of what came in the kit before covering the whole area, and then asked me to run to home depot to get more. I didn't think that this was appropriate, and asked him to go and provide me with a receipt, which he did but I don't think that I should have had to ask. Add-ons: There were some add-ons in the tasks like mounting the TV bracket and TV, and applying a clear coat sealer on the garage floor that didn't come with the original kit. I think that the labor prices for the add-ons were slightly high compared to the orginal task estimates, but he was doing such a good job that it was worth it. Cleanliness: I would have liked it if the kitchen area was cleaned up a little bit more. there was a lot of dust left over after they removed their tarps, but it isn't the end of the world. What did bother me on cleanliness is that job trash was placed in my compost bin instead of my trash bin, even after I told them that there were 3 different bins and to put trash in the right one. I had to transfer the trash from bin to bin myself. I also think that some of the trash from the job should have been removed by the company,but it wasn't. I have some drywawl scraps, and other trash that won't all fit in my trash bins and I'll have to get rid of it over a couple trash pickup cycles.

Everything was fine. The guy waws on time, professional and he did a good job.

The guy they sent out was not consistent with his work and caused me some issues. The company, once I got a hold of them, they assigned another person to me and they stepped in and dealt with the problem and everything passed inspection.

For the most part my experience with the company was pretty good. There were a couple of times they weren?t quite as good. I have used them for about 7 or 8 years. I was satisfied with their price. I would use them again in future.

They did a fine job. The person who came to work on the gutter informed me about the broken tiles on the roof. He was confident and thorough. There are many people working for them and the work depends on whom we get.

They were very responsive. They answered my first call and were able to schedule someone to come to my house for an evaluation the next day. They provided their proposal on the spot by having the handyman figure the work, call the central office and provide the paperwork immediately. These guys were the low bidder (out of 3). The opportunity for improvement was that the proposal was not very detailed as to what work would be done for the price. They mentioned remodeling the closets with doors as requested, but did not detail out the finish, carpet patching, painting / staining, etc. Because of this I ended up going with a "full provider" who had a detailed proposal with complete work (but who's cost was higher). If you are on a budget and willing to do some of the finish work yourself, these guys are worth a call.

Water backed up in both sinks and the dishwasher. It was a horrible mess and I had a heavy day scheduled at work. I called Handyman Connection first thing this morning. The person answering the phone was very personable and customer-service oriented. She told me someone would be here between noon and 12:30. I was relieved because the problem would be fixed the same day. Eric, the plumber, called a little after 8:00 and said he'd just finished an appointment in my neighborhood so he could perform the service right away. I was extremely pleased because that meant I would be able to get to work sooner. Eric arrived within 15 minutes, got right down to work, and snaked the drain all the way to 25 feet to make sure that he had gotten everything out. He ran the water for quite some time to make sure that the drain was clear and I wouldn't have a reoccurence of the problem. He was very efficient, friendly and concientious. He cleaned up after himself and advised me on ways to prevent a similar problem in the future. Then he cleaned up after himself thoroughly. I was extremely pleased with the service from start to finished. And I was able to get to work by 10:00 a.m. The price was extremely reasonable and then they gave me a discount for being a past customer. I was very impressed with the experience from start to finish.

He totally underestimated the whole deal. It ended up that he could not even afford to come out here and do it. He really underbid the job. He kept needing to buy more supplies. The job finally got done.

I had another handyman guy come out and he was fabulous. He was on time and very professional. He understood what I was saying to him. He went and found the product which is hard to find. He managed to replace it for me. It was a kitchen trim piece. The job is just beautiful.

Calvin did a fantastic job. He was able to accommodate some very difficult corners and small piece cuts and was well-prepared with tools.

Performed diagnostics on two lights fixtures and recommended successful repairs to one. Rebuilt area around electrical outlet fallen out of aging plaster/lathe area to firmly and attractively reattach.
