Our home needed an existing interior drain solution repaired. Using a masonry saw and jackhammers, the crew was able to replace the existing drainage, and restore the basement slab to its original condition. This was a fairly unique project, and Design Exteriors was very detailed in providing plans and estimates up front.

We were extremely impressed with Design Exteriors, specifically their lead designer Sonny. Sonny was amazing with his consultation and design for our landscaping. Not only did he give us a perfect design he made the overwhelming process easy and fun every step of the way. He also went out of his way to consult on other areas of our property and we have found all of his ideas and recommendations to be extremely helpful. Not only was he professional, helpful and enjoyable to work with but he and Design Exteriors were also extremely understanding and flexible when we suddenly had to cancel our project at the very last minute. They could have made that very difficult for us but instead showed nothing but support and understanding. When we are able to do this project, we will most definitely hire Sonny and his team to do it as they have demonstrated nothing but professionalism and integrity. We would highly recommend their services to anyone.

We had a great experience with Sonny and Design Exteriors. I was pleasantly surprised by the amount of time, thoroughness and attention to detail he gave to our project. From the very beginning he spent hours with us going over design ideas which included the hardscaping to the individual plants that would go in. His crew was friendly, professional, always prompt and extremely knowledgable in the work they were performing. Abby, Sonny's Executive Assistant was always quick to respond to any questions or concerns we had and did a great job of being in contact and keeping us up to date on the progress of the project. The work completed is absolutely beautiful and we get complements from everyone who has come over and seen our "new" back yard. We began with design services. We worked through preferences, and I learned a tremendous amount about possibilities I had not considered. As this process progressed, I was pleased with the way the design came together, from landscaping through lighting. While there were some bumps in the road, there was always a complete and total commitment to making things right in the end. The quality of workmanship was excellent and the custom design work was beyond expectations. I experienced expedient responsiveness when a concern was expressed, which was very important to me. The fact of the matter is that things don't always go as planned; however, a true dedication to resolution is what ultimately matters. I was able to count on that. The final outcome is truly outstanding.

Cedric designed and his firm built a paver patio, retaining wall, and concrete sidewalk in the previously nondescript backyard of our ranch-style home in Broomfield. Design Exteriors put in new landscaping around the patio, and re-planted existing plants and shrubs to conform to the new patio and yard reconstruction. They rebuilt the sprinkler system to service the new landscaping configuration. They installed low voltage lighting in and around the patio and along the new sidewalk. We couldn’t be more pleased with the end result, as well as the process throughout. We are comfortable that the patio and landscaping will add significant value to our home. Further, we are comfortable that we will enjoy it for many, many years. As background, we had interviewed several firms before we found Cedric and Design Exteriors. The other firms had given us scrawled drawings (or no drawings) with their “proposals” and quoted prices that they could not support or break down. Cedric worked with our requirements, came back with a very complete and detailed plan with complete cost details. He talked us through his proposed landscaping design and showed us photos of the flowering plants, shrubs and trees he was recommending on an iPad as we spoke. When we subsequently unrolled what was essentially an architectural drawing for the HOA approval committee, it was obvious that they had never seen anything even remotely as professional. Cedric assigned an onsite foreman who was with us daily as his crew worked in the heat of July-August. Onsite foreman Eduardo was supremely capable and became a friend as he and his crew worked. One of his team members spent four full days individually cutting the rectangular stones that were subsequently stacked and cemented into the round patio. His team continually used a laser level to ensure the patio was the right size and leveled such that rain and melted snow would run down into the drainage system. Now finished - the seams align, the stones fit, the joints are solid. When we asked Eduardo to do what he could to prevent damage to our lawn as they brought equipment around from the front of our house to where the patio was being built, they brought pieces of plywood that they laid atop the grass every morning so that wheelbarrows and foot traffic would not damage the lawn, removing and stacking them at night. When we expressed concern that the dumpsters that would be placed on our driveway might damage the concrete, they made a platform, two plywood layers thick on the driveway to prevent damage. Finished in September, the sprinklers work perfectly, the lighting adds much to the overall design. The umbrella they recommended and installed is perfect (see photos). When we have asked questions and/or expressed concern about some of the plants that were installed, they have responded quickly and made the necessary changes. I presented Cedric with a fairly unique problem with rainwater drainage on my property, and he was able to work with me on a plan that has solved the problem. From start to finish, Cedric provided extreme detail and transparency in all facets of the project. Along the way, I was given updates throughout the project. All work was performed in a timely, professional manner. I would absolutely hire Design Exteriors for any outdoor/landscaping project on my property again.

This is the second time we've used Design Exteriors (first time was for front yard landscape and porch remodel) and we've been very happy both times. This company is extremely professional and easy to work with. We were kept updated as to the progress of the project along the way. Anytime an issue came up, we simply sent an email and we usually got a response the same day, if not the next addressing the issue. Overall, we were very happy with Design Exteriors and would recommend them to others.

Overall, everything went pretty well. The few glitches or misunderstandings that happen were addressed quickly and were acceptable. Though there may be some tweaking in the Spring, I'm satisfied that the result gives my home a new presence on the street with much improved curb appeal.

This is the second time I have used Design Exteriors for work on my property. Last year, they helped me with a patio - which receives rave reviews from all of my guests. This year I had them work on my very tired front yard. Again, I am receiving great compliments from neighbors and friends. They took a very tired yard and made it fresh and appealing. They also helped me with things that will make yard maintenance much easier. Sonny and the rest of his team are the consummate professionals and a pleasure to work with. In particular, Sonny was sensitive to my own design ideas and budget. There is no doubt the work done by Design Exteriors has helped to raise the curb appeal of my house and its value.

Sonny was very receptive to my questions and suggestions. He and his crew were professional, punctual, offered helpful suggestions and finished the project in a timely fashion. The lawn looks great and I have a some beautiful plants that will really give our house some curb appeal.

We needed the ends of our rain gutters extended underground away from our house. And we wanted to redo our front yard. Sonny and his team were great. Sonny listened and took into account all our preferences when designing our front yard. The work was done quickly and professionally. And the new drainage is very effective and unobtrusive in our small yard. We would definitely work with Sonny and his team again.

They were very good. They aren't cheap but others can be more expensive. I'd give them an "A" overall and I'd use them again.

Overall, the project went great. There was one wrinkle in the plan in that the mulch that was originally delivered and used was the wrong color. This honest mistake could have created a difficult situation, but the staff at Design Exteriors handled this wonderfully--they apologized and switched out the mulch at no cost. After our project was complete, I asked to have Enrique come back to adjust a couple things to account for some settling of the land that had occurred after the project. With no cost to us, he did more than we had asked and left the project looking better than ever. We will definitely use Design Exteriors again.

Their proposal was way over my budget so I'm not going to use them. The designing fee was $720 for 10 hours of his time. He did a beautiful job of the design but when the designing was all done the amount of the proposal for the work was way too high for me. The price was the only reason I didn't go with him. With the property values in this neighborhood, the price was way out of proportion.

The entire process of getting a new patio from Design Exteriors was amazing! We were kept informed of every step, such as when to expect the delivery of product, dumpsters, dirt etc. The crew were very neat and professional too. They took extra steps in protecting the rest of the yard and did a good job of clean-up. Design Exteriors owner was on-site daily to over-see the production process. We also felt very comfortable calling his assistant with questions and always got an immediate response. Working with Design Exteriors was a dream... So unlike many other companies we have contracted with in the past.

I was willing to wait to get a contractor that would do an excellent job and it was worth it. They did an outstanding job and were willing to work with me, to get the look that I wanted. But of course I needed to work with them as well and that's what made it a great project, both sides respecting each other. There was give and take on both sides. In the end they restored my faith that there are still good contractors in Denver! I give them my highest recommendation.

Perfect - all cuts are very clean, and the result better than I thought possible. Prompt communication at every point, and work was finished on-time.

With apologies to Sonny for posting this review more than a year after the work was done, Design Exteriors was a delight to work with. A family reunion was scheduled in mid-June last year (2015). I hoped to have the project completed by the end of May to allow time for new plantings to mature a bit before the event. We were expecting 40-45 people of all ages to gather under a rented tent in the back yard. Sonny spent an hour or more that first appointment, measuring and stepping out my back yard. He came back a few days later to check some measurements, etc. After delivering preliminary plans, my son and I discussed options and Sonny delivered final plans in the fall of 2014 and, on my computer, showed me pictures of the various plantings I could choose from. I scheduled the work to commence as soon as the weather warmed up enough the next Spring. Spring arrived and with it the monsoon. Sonny kept a close eye on the project throughout that wet season. His crew worked tirelessly to meet my deadline even though pressure was building from all his other clients. As a rainy May turned into a rainy early June, I panicked. The guys kept at it under unpleasant conditions and spent many late days as the deadline loomed. On June 20th, all was beautiful and cleaned up before the first guests began arriving the next day! I love Sonny’s thoughtful design. I appreciate that he accommodated my desire for xeriscape and low-maintenance plantings. My budget was limited and he patiently told me options to consider and advised me where I could save without compromising style. As the work progressed, he paid attention to every detail, including things I would probably never have noticed. I couldn’t be happier with the whole process of working with Design Exteriors.

The owner Sonny is very responsive and professional. He took the time to listen and help come up with the best option for my needs and budget. Abby in the front office is very kind and professional as well. I highly recommend them!
