Bruce from Champion Window was very upfront in letting us know that it wouldn't be cost effective to use their company for the work we needed to have done. They provide a very high quality product that makes more sense when having multiple windows installed and we needed more of a builder grade window to help meet the agreements in our home sale. Bruce put us in touch with another company that could help us at a more affordable price point. We greatly appreciated the honesty and information provided by Champion Window and wouldn't hesitate to use them in the future.
Description of Work: We scheduled an appointment to get an estimate on a window that needed to be replaced to complete our home sale.

Received quotes from 5 window replacement companies including Pella, Anderson and Home Depot. All came with their display windows and examples of what made them the best. All were .energy star compliant, double pane and U factor between 0.28 & 0.32. Needed to replace 8 windows of various sizes and replaced a French patio door for a sliding one. All were vinyl. After doing much research on line on the various "factors" the salesman and brochures hit you with came to the conclusion that the minor differences in the factors of windows didn't have a performance negative. All were excellent and exceeded energy star requirements. Decision was made on price, installation crews and made in Colorado aspect of windows and the lifetime guarantee including what no one else offers glass breakage even if it's your fault.. All research I had done indicated that the biggest problem people had was the installation and relayed this to the salesman. He assured me that most of the installers have been doing jobs for Champion for years and the job would be done correctly. Windows were ready in about 4 weeks and the 2 man crew got everything done in about 6 hours. Now a word on the installer. Paco was lead and he was great, said he has been installing for Champion for 12 years and planned to continue to work for them till he retired. Was very professional , cleaned up afterwards so you didn't even know he was there and just a overall great experience. Were so pleased with the windows that in March we contracted with Champion to do the rest of the house 22 windows and requested Paco as the installer. Same great results. You can feel the difference in the house both when it's hot and cold out and one thing we didn't anticipate is the outside noise reduction. Overall a excellent experience and should be a good investment.
Description of Work: Replaced all windows in house 30 and a sliding patio door. Patio door and 8 windows were done in Oct 2012 and liked the results so much contracted to do rest of house 22 windows in March 2013.

The process went very smoothly. We met with the sales rep on 04/30. He was very knowledgeable, answered all our questions and worked with us to get the best deal. About a week or so later we had someone show up to take measurements. The guy was in and out in less than 10 minutes. Each door is custom built to the exact measurement of your needs (which is great for people like us who have older homes where nothing is 'standardized') and the factory is right here in Denver. When we purchased the door they told us it would be about 6 weeks before the door would be ready for install. The called us 5 weeks later to schedule the install. On the day of installation, they installer showed up on-time and installed the door in about 2 hours. Very courteous, efficient and knowledgeable. Will definitely use Champion again if/when we need doors or windows.

I bought my house 3 years ago. At the time I was told the windows had a lifetime warranty on them. Today I tried calling Champion to get some warranty work done because several screens are broken and one window is cracked (it was a hard winter). I sent an email through their website and got a response within about 15 minutes, so they were very prompt. When I spoke to the gentleman, I let him know that my understanding was we had a lifetime warranty on the windows and that I needed some repair work done. He proceeded to tell me that because we didn't transfer the warranty within 30 days of when I bought my home, they wouldn't honor the warranty. At no point during my closing, did the closer stop and ask - "Are there any warranties to transfer?" - and I haven't had any contact with the seller since I bought the place. When a consumer buys a major home upgrade and they're told it has a transferrable warranty, we don't expect to have to jump through hoops to transfer it to the next owner...and we shouldn't have to. Any company that's willing to offers a lifetime warranty (or any transferable warranty) should be willing to stand by their product without expecting their customers to jump hoops in order to keep the warranty in force. I would not currently recommend using this company since they don't stand by their products without expecting the homeowner to take unnecessary measures to keep the warranty active.
Description of Work: Spoke to Champion about warranty work on my windows which are supposed to have a lifetime warranty. They would honor the warranty because I'm a new owner, even though the warranty is 'transferable.'

Champion was were helpful in desgning the doors (entry way had stained glass inserted). They sent over 2 crews, one for the front door and the other for the patio door and windows. Both teams did an excellant job. We had just had the entryway painted about a month before the entryway door was installed, they didn't hurt the paint job on the woodwork (didn't even have to remove it!). Excellent job. The patio door and family room windows are also excellent, very effiecient.
Description of Work: We had a steel entry door installed, 2 windows in the family room, and an oversized patio door replaced. The patio was not standard size, the builder had installed 8ft high doors. This was replaced with a standard hight door 6 ft 8 in, with a transom over the top.

My main concerns with Champion Windows are the following: 1) Their price was nearly double that of the company we went with, however, the differences (if any) in quality of the product were indiscernible. As we were looking for replacements for the original (1950s) windows almost anything we put in would be better. We felt that we could save some money by not getting the "top of the line" windows and using our budget more wisely by doing other energy efficiency projects also. I feel that the Champion Windows are "top of the line" but maybe above our needs for our very inefficient home. 2) While the sales representative did a fantastic job informing me about their product, its quality, its efficiency, and its warranty, the sales representative is just that. A sales representative. They are not installers. The company we went with was an installer who works with different manufacturers. Therefore, in addition to learning about the windows themselves, we discussed a variety of options for installation as well as other options for energy efficiency. As I feel that most modern vinyl windows are of good quality, we felt that knowing more about the installation and knowing the installer himself was the most important factor.

I purchased the window because they advertised that they make them themselves here in Denver and their windows are guaranteed forever. However, I was disappointed in the window. Part of the window did not work. Most sliding windows have a safety catch so that it could not open too far and those safety latches on this window did not function properly. They did come out twice after the installation, but the repair was never correctly completed. They said they would be glad to replace the part that doesn’t work right, but at this point I no longer care for their services. Since that window did not properly work, I would not purchase additional windows from them in future.

After our initial in-home consultation, we decided to purchase windows from Champion. Every person we dealt with at the company was professional and responsive. They called to let us know our windows were ready for install (ahead of schedule) and offered us an install appointment the very next day. Our crew leader Paco was awesome. He and his partner completed the work efficiently and professionally. They were very nice and a pleasure to work with. We will definitely use this company again. They offer a quality product and we are happy with our windows. We are already telling a difference in the temps in our house.

I needed to replace my old wood frame windows with new, energy efficient ones. I got several bids, and chose Champion based on the reasonable price and promise that they did everything in house, including building the windows to spec and installing them. I did not want to have to deal with a different manufacturer, seller or installer if there were problems. I was also told there would be an on site supervisor to make sure the job got done correctly. In spite of their advertising and verbal promises made at the time of sale, Champion DOES NOT use it's own installers. They sub it out. The guys who arrived were in an unmarked, rented truck and didn't speak any English, which made communication difficult. They underestimated the amount of time it would take to do the job, they said one day when it took three. They broke several walls while pounding and kicking out the old windows. They tried to get away with not spraying in the foam insulation around the installed windows; when I discovered this, at first they tried to say they did it but after removing some flashing it was clear they had not. I bought a rather expensive bay window for the kitchen which they did not know how to install. At first it was so crooked it was leaning out of the house like it was about to fall out! They tried to use caulk instead of a frame and nails to build the soffit box; they were actually trying to glue it together with caulk! To repair damage to the sills they used more caulk instead of wood filler, which is unpaintable and hard to sand. I resorted to calling the company repetitively, and tried to find out who the owner was. They would never tell me how to get hold of anyone in management. Finally someone (a supervisor?) came out, after proving to him that the foam was not installed, and inspecting the precariously installed bay window, he had the crew redo much of their work. They tracked in glue and mud, banged up my walls with swinging tools from tool belts, and generally did one of the worst install jobs I've seen. These guys are apparently paid per job, and the quicker they can "bang it out", literally, the quicker they make their money, return the rented truck, and get on to the next job. Through my broken spanish I was able to learn that the install crew was not "factory trained" as stated by the sales rep. They have NO construction skills, limited tools, and apparently no pride in their workmanship. While they told me I didn't need to be home for the one day job, I ended up missing three days of work to supervise the poor job these guys were doing. Champion would not take responsibility for the disaster occurring at my house until I started calling around to the national company trying to find the local owners/managers and threatening to hire another company to re-install all the windows at their expense. I am satisfied with the quality of the windows, but the custom sizing for two large picture windows was off (too small) and they had to fill in the gaps with lots of aluminum flashing and foam. Stay away from this company!

Response from Champion Windows and Home Exteriors of Denver
While we strive to achieve 100% customer satisfaction, it is clear that we fell short on this particular installation. While the installation is nearly 16 months we take all of our customer's concerns very seriously and an immediate attempt to contact the customer will be attempted in an effort to correct any and all outstanding issues and collect any information that will help us continue to improve our quality and procedures.

They showed up when they said they would and did exactly what they said they would do. They had their own electrician. When I made a change to the plan they worked with me without a fuss. They got the permits necessary for the job. The employees have been there a long time and are very experienced. The quality of the work was fantastic. We had no problems with them what so ever. The salesman, Jay, even gave us his cell phone number and was easy to get in contact with. They even told us that the windows have a very comprehensive replacement warranty, so if they break for any reason they replace them for free. The new windows seem to be doing a great job keeping in the heat and keeping the cool out. We are so pleased with the finished product.

I?m extremely pleased with my new Champion windows! Everything from the buying experience to the final installation was done professionally and on schedule. The staff treated me in a friendly, helpful way, always meeting commitments. I had a followup warranty repair of a screen that a child damaged, and it was done promptly and at no charge. And I tell you, the quality and function of the windows, doors and screens are excellent. The home is quieter, draft-free, more energy efficient and more comfortable. I would recommend Champion to anyone.

Install process was reasonable. Came out in the AM and was finished by mid-day. However, our big bay window was a problem taking out. They did not clean up all the broken glass. With kids in the house, this was a concern & frustration as there were some tiny shards left in the carpet. Overall the windows are good. They did have to come back out to replace a window that they had mis-ordered (swapping out the window just took a couple of minutes).

I received numerous quotes for replacing the windows in my townhome. While Champion was not the cheapest; their warranty and service won me over. Matt Flath was my sales rep...he came to my home and went over the information about Champion. He didn't trash talk the other manufacturers/distributors, but he did talk up Champion. Matt also did not talk to me as if I was an idiot and I appreciate that. He was professional and personable at the same time. He demonstrated the benefits of Champion windows and showed me their warranty. He had no problem giving me multiple quotes including quotes by floor of my home (3 in total) and breaking out the cost for french doors and sliding glass doors. When I was ready to make my decision about Champion; he was ready. The paperwork was signed quickly and the appointment was set quickly for the final measurements to be done before they manufactured my windows. Within a month of signing the contract; my windows were installed. The installation was scheduled and the two men arrived. They were both very efficient and professional. They cleaned up their mess (both inside and outside the house). I was impressed!

They were very helpful in making sure that we selected colors for our awning that would go good for our house. The approached the HOA to get approval before moving forward. They setup the mailing for the HOA to outline the project. We did have one problem with the awning after it was closed for the winter. They were very friendly and prompt with the fix issues needed with their installations. The sliding door that was installed originally had locks that didn't work. We approached Champion Windowsfor a new sliding door installation since we had such a great experience the first time. They came out and measured for the door and a doogy door that we needed for our dogs. They suggested using a door smaller than the 8' since they are easier to close. They added a window above the newly installed door to fit the entry way space that was originally for the larger door. Since we have had the door through one winter at this point, there is a lot less cold coming through since it is a double-paned glass. We have been extremely pleased with the quality of their work and their response to our needs. We will certainly work with them again when the need arises.

Overall, a good product, good service and fair price.
Description of Work: I have hired Champion Windows for a variety of services during the past several years, including windows, doors, siding and an enclosed portch. They are a very good company to work with. Other companies quoted a lower price for the same quality of product, but Champion has a much better warranty...lifetime on their windows. The quality of their sliding screen door could be better, especially the latch. I have had two latches replaced in the past two years. They don't seem to last long. My grandchildren are in and out constantly so the latch gets used frequently. Each time I've called about it Champion responded quickly and replaced the latch without question. I like that kind of service. The siding job Champion did for me two years ago has held up very well. I've gotten several compliments on the quality and workmanship. So far so good. I've also had two insulated steel entry doors installed by Champion. They're custom made and installed and I haven't had any problems with them. The windows have been installed for about 10 years and have held up nicely. It's a good middle of the road window. I'm sure there's more expensive and cheaper ones, but Champion was a good choice for me. One window developed a crack in the top corner, but one call to Champion and they came out, took the part number from the window and ordered and installed a new window. Again, without question. One of the main reasons I went with Champion is their good reputation and guarantee. Plus I know they'll be around for a long time. Overall, I'm very pleased with their product and service, both before and after job completion.

I had one huge picture window above living room (at 2nd story level) that was broken. I called three other companies and was told they could not replace the window in one piece, as it was too large. Since I live in a condo, a 2-section window was not satisfactory. Champion was able to manufacture the window in one piece. I had them replace the big window and the rest of the windows in my house. I'm extremely pleased with the job they did, and their price was almost half of the other companies I called. I cannot believe the job the installers did. I really thought there was no way they could remove the broken window and install the new one without a catastrophe. It was amazing to watch. They cleaned everything up very nicely when they were done.

However, 2 weeks later a large crack appeared in the back family room window glass. I called them about that; a tech came by to look at it. We found that it was a "common mistake" for the installers to install the glass over a bump on the frame, the unequal pressure caused the glass to break. They ordered a new glass and in about 6 weeks or so the window glass was replaced at no charge. They do stand behind their product, and I'm glad to have chosen them. The windows still look great over a year later, they work good, opening and closing them. I've chosen this company over my past companies such as Lowes, Gravin_s, etc. Their product quality, integrity, and professionalism is what I look for in a company. They may cost a bit more than the cheapest windows you can buy, but all-in-all, there is no other company I'd now consider.
Description of Work: We had the rear family room windows replace along with the front living room windows replaced. The window/glass/frame quality is superb; I'd prefer this company over Anderson or Pella, both companies I've used in the past. The work was done quickly by a large crew; professionally with no mess.
