When they delivered the window, we're in the middle of a renovation and that is one of the last things that we're waiting for, they brought it in, they installed it, the window was the wrong size, it wasn't what I wanted, the guy who installed it who had his manager called me, because I'm not happy, I've never heard from him since. I'll never use them again. The communication was horrible.
Description of Work: They're not one of the greatest, let's just put it that way.

Response from Champion Windows and Home Exteriors of Denver
Mr. [member name removed] is correct in that we had to make the garden window a second time for his home. Mr. [member name removed] had new counters scheduled to be installed after the garden window and unfortunately the new counters didn't line up exactly as we had all hoped they would so we promptly built another window. I called Mr. [member name removed] after being made aware of his concerns in hopes of learning more about his experience with Champion. When I reached him, he asked that I call him back at a more convenient time. Unfortunately, I've only been able to leave voice mails since then. We're sorry to hear that Mr. [member name removed] is not comfortable Champion again in the future but Champion will continue to stand by the window and workmanship that we manufactured and installed.

We signed a $58,000 contract, paid $27.500 and months later, we have yet to see a single window!
Description of Work: Scam artists - buyer beware!!! Over promised and never delivered. These guys promised to fabricate and install 64 windows in our house 4-8 weeks after we signed our $58,000 contract, and even wrote on it that they would rush the order to get it to the lower end. They completely missed that timeframe, with no end in sight. Despite multiple requests, and having cashed a down payment for $27,500, these guys have not provided nor installed a single window months after signing a contract and will not tell us when they will actually do so. They refuse to provide us with any relief or to give us a firm date as to when they plan to show up. They have flat out lied about the cause of their delays several times. And Paul Bonow, their Division Manager/ Managing Partner (his title changes from email to email) informed us that they interpret their contract as providing only an estimated timeline that they can completely disregard despite a multitude of assurances of timely performance by their salespeople. So as it turns out, we may not see our windows for years.

When we saw ice forming on the inside of some of our windows we knew it was time to get them replaced. We got a sliding glass door, a bay window, and two bedroom windows. We decided to use Champion because we heard good things from friends and family, and we were impressed with the quality of the product. We just got them installed today, and already the house is quieter and warmer in just 30 minutes since they left. Only complaints are (1) the contractors who installed the windows were pretty late, and I was not called to be told that they were going to be 45 min later than their latest estimated time to start, and (2) I was not aware how much smaller the bay window was going to be than our old one. I don't remember our sales guy telling us that, but my husband does. So I'll give him the benefit of the doubt. There isn't much window seat space in the bay window, and I miss the extra depth it gave the house. But I don't miss the cold drafts blowing right through. Overall, I will get Champion replacement windows for other windows in the house in the future.

It turned out great. We love them. We had them before at our old house. They did a really good job. We liked their products. We were very pleased with the work they did this time. We had special windows put in and they were very expensive but they worked for what we needed them to. I would absolutely use them in the future.

As far as the installation went, they did a great job. The installers were on time. We had an issue where they miss-ordered our windows. We were supposed to get 8 windows and we got only 7. We had one window missing like for a month. The price is a little high but they do good windows.

It worked out good. There wasn't anything I disliked about them. My interaction with them was good. Their windows and installation were both covered under warranty and the warranty was transferrable to the next owner of the home. The work was really good.

Their salesman very graciously made a Sunday appointment to accomodate my schedule and spent almost an hour with me, measuring my house, discussing their products, etc. and then said he'd e-mail me a quote. That was on Sunday, Sept. 28th. On Tuesday, 9/30, I received a VM from someone named Summer at Champion who said she had and quot;really good news about the quote we sent you.and quot; That's great, but I've still not received a quote. I called her back at the extension she left in the VM and got a generic and quot;no one is available to take your calland quot; outgoing message. I left a message with my phone number. Then I called the salesman and left him a message (this was all on Tuesday, 9/30). No response. I've checked my e-mail daily - even my spam folder - and nothing. I called Champion again this morning (10/3) at 9:30. Their outgoing message said that their business hours are M-F, 9-5, with additional hours on Saturday - and that and quot;the offices are now closed.and quot; -- It was 9:30! - So, I left another message. I left another VM with the salesman as well. All just to get a quote! If their follow up on a quote is as good as their workmanship, I don't think I want to do business with this company! No courtesy phone call to tell me that the quote is delayed. No follow up phone call to see if I got the quote (maybe they misspelled my e-mail address???). Nothing. So far, not impressed.
Description of Work: Thus far, I'm having difficulty getting Champion Windows of Denver to follow up on an estimate visit. Their salesman very graciously made a Sunday appointment to accomodate my schedule and spent almost an hour with me, measuring my house, discussing their products, etc. and then said he'd e-mail me a quote.

It went well. The one replaced with two double hung was leaking water inside when it rained. They added some flashing above the window, but the next time it rained the window leaked. I thought it was how they installed the window, but it turned out the window above this one was also leaking and this is where the water was coming from. I caulked the upper window right above the double hung and everything was fixed. This wasn't one of the windows replaced. From what I can tell Champion has the best warranty on window replacement.

My major issue with Champion was with this dishonesty of the sales person, and the unwillingness of the manager to discipline the employee. The sales person that sold me the windows assured me that that they did not use subcontractors. This was not true. Basically champion sells really expensive windows and subcontracts the labor out to other companies so they do not have to pay them benefits. It is a preference of mine to hire contractors that pay benefits to their employees and do not curtail this responsibility by using subcontractors.Champion refused to admit any wrong doing. And basically ignored my complaint. (they did give me Outback Steakhouse gift cert. which was really offensive considering I was lied to in order to get a sale)Buyer beware, if they treated me this poorly, I can only imagine how they would treat a customer with installation issues. On a positive note, the subcontractor was very personable and clean. he did very good work.

Champion did a good job replacing our window. During the initial consultation we received a good understanding of what the final product would be and how the installation would go. The final product and the process to get there matched that. I was disappointed to learn that they only use subcontractors to install their product. That I was not informed of until the installation occurred.

It went great! It has been a really great experience from the get go. It ended up costing me $30,000. I have a lot of windows in my house and they were all builder grade, so they were horrible. But they aren't anymore! They keep their commitment. They give you an estimate and then they keep up with you about how it's going and then when they make a commitment to come in, they come in. They come in when they're supposed to. They were really easy to work with. In fact, I got financing through them, 12 months same as cash. I paid 1/3rd. That was really kind of nice. We found some things wrong with my house that we fixed while we were going through it. They pointed some things out to me that I didn't know about. That was really very useful. If they were going to be a little late or if something happened they always called.

September, 2013 we signed a contract to have Champion install a large 18 x 14 foot vaulted sunroom to match the vaulted ridge line of my home. We paid an initial $14,000 deposit to start the project with another $14000 due at 90% and the remainder after completion. The room was going to replace a portion of the existing deck. The champion foreman came out to measure and mark the location the deck needed to be removed. We removed the deck 6 inches inside of his marks so that the installers could make precise cuts to match the new sunroom floor to blend into the deck. The installers showed up and dug the foundation supports and built the new floor and cut the deck flush to the new decking. So far so good. The next few days, they started the framing of the sunroom and on Friday, finally set the ridge post against our house. At this point the installers noticed the new deck was 4 inches off center. We noticed the error that weekend. On Monday morning, we called the foreman to inform him of the problem. He came out, remeasured several times, talked to his crew privately, then told us he didn't know how it happened and would need to get back to us. He told his crew to continue working. Wednesday, we called him again and asked what the plan was. We indicated we wanted it corrected. He said his boss was out of town and would find out more later the week. The crew was now finished with the framing and installation of the sliding doors and were measuring for the custom glass on top. The crew gave us an invoice for the second payment which we paid and would return 2 weeks later once the custom glass was cut.The following monday the foreman returned and said he would help us with the cost of the floor covering which we were going to do ourselves. We told him no, we wanted the sunroom installed in the correct location. He said he would ask his boss and get back to us. Later that day, we received a call from the salesman offering us a $3000 discount. We said no, we wanted the installation corrected. He responded that the discount was very generous and most of his customers would be happy with that. We told him no, we wanted the installation corrected and we would withhold final payment until it was corrected. The next day we received a call from Paul Bonow the general manager. He initially indicated that we had removed the deck in the wrong spot. We corrected him, saying we cut the deck 6 inches inside of his foreman's measurements. And even if we did cut it in the wrong spot, it was not an excuse for placing the sunroom off center. He then indicated that Champion had fulfilled their contractual obligations. We told him that we were not satisfied and their motto on their website was satisfaction guaranteed. He re-offered the $3000 discount. We told him no, we wanted it moved. He said he wouldn't. We told him we would engage a lawyer which we did. The lawyer reviewed the contract and found a clause about using standard construction methods that was not followed. He however indicated that litigation would be expensive and lengthly and in the end we would be unhappy and bitter. We contacted Bonow again and told him he had three choices, move it, remove it and refund, or give us a 20% discount.A month of phone and email messages between our lawyer, Bonow and ourselves left us with an offer of $4000 discount (10%) and $500 towards concealing the post that was an eyesore. Our attorney recommended we just take the offer and move on. We contracted a stucco company for $1500 to perform the concealment which softens the appearance of the offset but doesnand acirc;??t hide it.In retrospect, we should have stopped work the moment the error was noticed and not allowed the crew to continue construction until it was resolved. Avoid Champion Windows. We paid a lot of money for a poorly installed product and the company was not interested in resolving it.
Description of Work: Champion Windows installed a $45,000 sunroom 4 inches off center from the ridge line of my house. The sunroom was to enclose a gable of our house. The gable has two windows following the ridge line. When standing in the sun room, the house windows would be centered in framing of the sunroom. Being 4 inches off, the post holding the roof of the sunroom is asymmetrical and an eyesore.

The windows are great and the installation was fast and very efficient. I would definitely use them again for my house or one of my children's homes. They would be too costly to put into a rental house or even a house that you are trying to remodel and make money. The windows work very well and block much of the outside noise. Very good!!!!

From the Sales Rep to the people in the scheduling office to the installers, every single person is friendly, knowledgeable and customer-driven. |The fact that they are manufactured here in Colorado is a huge issue. With the dry air, the altitude (thin air), UV rays and the wind we get at our house, Champion Windows were the only rational choice. |LOVE them.
Description of Work: We had replaced about 1/2 of the windows in our house a year ago, but just couldn't afford to do the entire house. We had learned of Champion from my parents and many friends, and we were every bit as impressed as they were. Which is WHY, when we could, we went back to Champion to finish the rest of the windows in the house.
