This is an update to my previous review. I want to let everyone know Brothers made things right with us. After an AC Tune-up on a rare Rheem unit, a Brothers technician recommended that we replace the fan motor. It was under warranty and we would only need to pay for labor. You'll see in other review that we started having more and more trouble after it was replaced. Several different technicians came out to see if they could find the issue. Finally, I had to contact another company that specializes in Rheem. They determined the new motor had simply been wired wrong. Brothers worked with me to replace the motor correctly and things are working great again!

Terrible experience. I would not recommend Brother's Plumbing. This is coming from someone who truly thought they were a good company and even bought into their Home Care Club. As part of our Home Care Club, they did an AC tune-up. During the visit, we followed their suggestion to replace the condenser fan. It was working fine before their visit, but has not been working since then. We have now been without air conditioning for 3 weeks, in the hottest part of summer. Brothers has been out to our home 5-6 times, and the only solution they offer is spending more money. We have a Rheem unit which is apparently a little more complicated. But we have already spent over $1,500 chasing the problem - which is a lot of money for our family. They have finally suggested a fix, and we waited 10 days to get the part. Just minutes before the technician was scheduled to arrive, the manager called and said the part would not be in for another 2 weeks. That would be over 5 weeks without air conditioning. They simply said "Sorry, there's nothing we can do." That's terrible customer service for a company of this size and a terrible way to treat a customer who has been loyal to them. We have taken multiple days off work to meet multiple technicians. And they don't seem to care at all about the inconvenience and money they've cost us. At this point we are so frustrated, we are calling someone who actually knows what they are doing. Something we should have done a long time ago. If you have a Rheem unit, do not call Brothers. And do not buy into their Home Care Club, it's simply a way for them to talk you into spending more money.

As others have mentioned, these guys are very good at charging way too much for work that isn't necessary. In my opinion, there motto seems to be 'replace at any cost'. The technician who did the work was incompetent and had to constantly call the main office for help. The initial problem was that the cooling fan in the compressor unit stopped working. Instead of trying to debug the problem he started to work on larger items like the entire compressor unit and heat exchanger. What does a heat exchanger have to do with a fan that stopped working? He had the entire compressor and furnace torn apart and then says that those two units need to be replaced without any explanation of the actual problem. We needed to get this fixed, and since they had the entire system torn apart, we didn't seem to have any option other than to have them replace the two units. I will never use these guys again. If you do end up using them, be sure to receive a complete explanation of the problem BEFORE they start tearing your system apart. What is worse is that we had the same thing happen about 2 months later on our other compressor (we have 2 A/C units). I called a local specialist and they came out and just had to replace a capacitor. All for about $150. It would have been nice if Brother's actually looked at the problem as opposed to simply replacing the most expensive pieces of the system.

Told them to not do any work, I'll spend my time on it. They were great for responding but the price was insane.
Description of Work: Called Brother's to install a faucet and garbage disposal and they came out the next day. The old faucet and disposal were removed in the remodel and we had the new parts on hand. We were then quoted $768 for the install. This is an hour job at most for a plumber. They wouldn't have to disconnect anything, just screw a few things in. No way it is worth that much.

Second call for same issue. Technician did a lot of troubleshooting. Notified me I would need to contact the manufacturer who would then send a technician out to determine why the error codes are initiated. Also indicated the gas pressure delivered at the service manifold was 31and quot; water column and spec for the water heater was max 10and quot; (minimum 4and quot;), therefore I needed to contact natural gas provider to fix.Manufacturer indicates they NEVER send a tech to a location- they have customer send pics and they then walk one through the process over the phone.Gas provider came out and indicated the pressure at the street and into the house is supposed to be 2# (or 32and quot; water column) and then is stepped down at regulator, which is inside the room where the water heater is located, and the regulator is not the gas providers responsibility. Provider said I needed to notify a plumber and have them adjust/replace the regulator. They then turned off the gas to the house until regulator is fixed. Brothers personnel should have known the regulator inside the room with the water heater and furnace was responsible for stepping down the pressure and identified that the pressure issue could be resolved by THEIR OWN COMPANY.i have no faith they know enough about overall systems. Perhaps for standard plumbing service issues the company is good, but I have cancelled my Home Care Club membership and will not have them do the work on the regulator.

I should have read the reviews on Angie's List before contacting the provider. The entire process of calling and scheduling the appointment was painless. Their follow up was very good. They called before sending the plumber to the house and he was on time. The plumber was very courteous and professional although i could tell he was immediately working on selling me a check of the water pressure of the house. I showed him what i needed done and he began to quote absolutely insane dollar amounts for the price to be performed. Last week I replaced a compression valve under my sink last week but when i tightened it, it was pointed in a slightly disadvantageous direction. I asked if he could loosen it and turn it. He said he could and that it would cost me $149. I just about threw up in my mouth. This would have taken him one minute. Next, he looked at a drain pipe in my basement. Very accessible pipe that was repaired perhaps 8 years ago. Now it's leaking. Again, it was going to cost four hundred or so dollars to fix this. I value professional work done by a reputable company that stands by their work. What I do NOT value is a company that thinks they can charge me whatever they want because they showed up on time and are courteous and professional. These were very easy fixes (for a plumber) that would not have taken very long at all. Yet, they wanted to charge me nearly $600?? Are you serious? No soldering, no copper pipe, no time consuming laying of pipe or cramped work spaces. I am very disappointed in the state of the plumbing industry and this company is part of the problem. Sorry Brothers Plumbing I am not going to pay for your fancy iPads that provide the unwavering and unreasonable pricing to your prospective clients. I was very happy to write the $45 check for the trip fee (which was actually somewhat reasonable in my opinion) to get the very courteous gentleman out of my house. I will now be an active non-promoter of Brothers plumbing because I think it is very uncool to gouge people like they wanted very badly to do to me and my working class family.

They ended up not being able to fix it and trying to upsell us to a new machine for an additional $5000.00. I felt taken advantage of and that their pricing was way too high. I would not recommend them.

When I called to schedule, they did not mention the $45 service fee for the plumber to come to my house (even though I requested this information) and would not give me quotes over the phone. When they came out to my house, the plumber told me it was going to be a total 750 dollars after just looking at his iPad to see the cost. I would have really appreciated them not wasting my time by at least giving me a range of cost, especially when they guy just had to look on his iPad to tell me the cost when he walked in my door. That is also way over priced and I wasted my time having them come to my house at this point. I WOULD NOT USE THEM every in the future.

showed up on time, was curtious and cleaned up after himself. However the price was ridiculous! I was in a jamb and needed the service done ASAP so I went ahead with the work. He then tried to talk me into buying a new garbage disposal for $600. He told me it sounded like there was a bearing going out, I reached inside and pulled out a lime peal and ran it again and asked him if it still sounded like a bearing was out. His response and quot;nope sounds good now, but I've got a new one in the truck if you still want to change it out.and quot; Seriously?! (By the way a new garbage disposal is $70 new at ACE and the instal to do it yourself couldn't be easier.) Over all he was clean and on time and did a good job but I paid through the nose for the service. I asked the plumer if they work on commission and he said and quot;Noand quot; but that's the way he acted. He was trying to scam me telling me all these things I needed to replace. What a joke. I will NEVER use them again!

This company certified the furnace said it is good to go. Two weeks later said I need a new one. They missed a crack at the first time. The manager will not take responsibility for it.

The following day, the tenant for were the repair was occurring informed me that someone called them and said maybe Thursday, maybe Friday , or maybe a week before the work would be completed. When I called to inquire, Nate told me that a manager called the tenant, and that the tenant had canceled the appointment for Thursday . Yes, the people dying in mid 90's heat canceled the people whom are going to fix the ac. Makes sense. I decided to cancel service because they blew their sales pitch, and that's all it was. A manager, the same one that called the tenant called me. I think he was John, he told me the same thing my tenant told me. He tried to say, I don't know when the parts will be in. How foolish do companies think people are? In this day and age, I can order a toothpick online and track the order instantly, and 99% of the time it's right on. So explain to me why an order for $400-600 dollars in parts can't be tracked and I get 2 or 3 days, no maybe a week? I'll tell you why, because they are pressuring people into their crammed scheduled under the impression that they will get work done before they intend to do.I can handle a wait, but I don't deal with being misled. Guess what, I'm going to say I can order parts myself and have them here by Friday. Would I recommend this company to anyone, OH BROTHER .... NO
Description of Work: The provider had a technician come out the same day as called for a blower issue on a central air unit. The technician, David Freeman, pushed the impression (commission?) that, if I were to pre-pay that the work would be completed 2 days later. So I pre paid.

All the toilet needed was a new flapper. But Brother's has a 'book' and they can't deviate from the book. My only choice was total redo or total redo with a new flush handle. The toilet was only 5 years old. It needed only a new flapper. Have since had another plumber fix a different toilet that had the same problem. Cost of Brother's $350. Cost of other plumber $100 in including a drain cleanout in a bathroom sink. Brother's wears white shirts and shoe covers, but the difference in price pays for a lot of shoe covers.

Way too expensive. I was in a bind as I had not had water for 2 days but $450 for 20 minutes of work is crazy. The guy also wanted to take the extra copper pipe I had stored.

I called several companies and the price ranged from 4000-10,000. I went with Brothers since they had previously installed a new furnace for me. When they said they could start within the hour, I was delighted in that I had been without water for four days. They brought in a backhoe and dug a hole down to the pipe. The hole was right next to the sidewalk and they had to remove some stone slabs and pavers They informed we that they were hopeful they could pull the broken water line out without disturbing some very pricey landscaping. They did have to remove some pavers to be able to do their work, but that was okay with me. They worked until five and told me that the line to my house was lead which had been attached to copper and galvanized pipe. Since the lead pipe was 107 years old, they were not sure they could pull it out using the backhoe. They explained the procedure along the way and if it failed, then they would have to dig up my landscaping, which was a sad thought indeed. The next day, they were successful in pulling out the lead pipe and in a hour, I had water. Hooray. They refilled the hole and replaced the stone slabs that made up the sidewalk. A professional job done by professional people. Thanks Brothers.

They charged us a lot for the service. We just brought them in because the toilet was sort of rocking and it ended up that the floor was rotting underneath from having something done years ago. So, they fixed it and did a good job but I need to call them up because I think that the insides of the toilet itself are not as good as they used to be just like everything that you see in the store. But the service was fine and they were here within a couple of hours on a Sunday and they finished it up. They did a lot of extra work to get the sale. We have had them here for other things too like for a valve or something. The incident happened on a Sunday so we did not really go and price out for the service. The way that plumbers do things is they are going to charge you so much to put it in whether you buy their toilet or get it from someone else. Because it was in the situation that we needed to have it done, we just went ahead but they found the right color to match. They had people to deliver the product. They called up another store somewhere and got the whole thing put together in that afternoon and it was done fine. The quality of their service was fine and everything that they did was fine. I have issues with quality of everything now. I think that you pay a lot of money for appliances and all that stuff that would not last five or six years but that has nothing to do with the contractors. They took care of us. The guys were really nice and they worked hard. We will continue to use them.

Two gentlemen came from brother to diagnose why the A/C was not working as well as I thought it should. Both gentleman were very polite and respectful of my home. They checked the unit, inside at the furnace and outside at the fan. It was determined that my unit was over charged with coolant and the outside unit needed to be cleaned. The overall charge for that was about $500. I have worked on cooling units and cleaning them is easy enough and I really think that the cost to remove coolant from the unit being over $300 is excessive.

We did some research for your call and did find that we quoted you both prices for a cleaning and to remove the excessive Freon. I’m sorry you didn’t see the value in the work that we were going to do. Removing Freon from an air conditioner unit requires training and certifications to make sure that it is done correctly and to ensure that there is not any Freon released into the air. Depending on the situation and how critical the charge is, this can take up to 2 hours. Our technicians have all received training and are certified to do this. They are also background checked, drug tested to ensure that you are safe when they come into your home. We also have insurance (both workers comp & general liability) to protect you as well and we guarantee all of the work that we do. Thank you for the honest feedback that you provided here. On both occasions the techs arrived on time, put on booties so as not to soil our carpets and floors; place a rug near the doorway where they were removing and replacing their booties when they went back to the truck for supplies. The furnace repair was done promptly and done well. We've had no problems with it since. The water heater was replaced with one with a larger tank, it was installed properly unlike the original one that broke. There was also a crack on one of the air ducts so that section was replaced on another visit. Both jobs were done well and we are very happy with the results. We're thinking of calling them to clean our air ducts and service our A/C. They also provide financing, which we needed to replace the water heater. We weren't planning to replace it for another 2-3 years.
Description of Work: first was to repair our furnace when it went out second to replace our water heater and air duct near the heater and furnace Both times the techs did a great job.

Furnace went out, (would not run) in the middle of the evening. Called the next day, at 0700, a crew was on site by 10:00 am that morning. The crew found a bad board and igniter and a small leak in the gas valve. I opted to have board and igniter replaced, and made arrangements for a new furnace to be installed the next day. Price for system board and igniter was $983.00 + show up fee of $ 79.00 dollars. Total was $ 1,062. It was used for less than twenty four hours and was taken out with old furnace. No credit was mentioned for the board or igniter against the new furnace. I believe had a credit been issued for the above mentioned parts, I would have been able to afford the installation of a high efficient furnace.
