Axium Inspections & Radon Mitigations

From booking through the inspection, the Axium team was very helpful and prompt. Brian walked us through the main areas of the inspection and answered all of our questions.

This review is to supplement the "F" rating given earlier. A representative called from the company today and offered to send an electrician to fix the problem.

The inspector broke six outlets and then the company refused to help fix the problem they caused. This is unacceptable. All of our electrical outlets were working well prior to their inspector coming to our house. Now we have six outlets not functional and the company will not help fix the problem.

First home buyer and it was such a detailed report. Happy I paid for all the extras that I would have never thought I needed at first . Jeff Krause did such a thorough job, if I bought another house I would request him. A really cool added extra was the thermal camera, it can see all the cool air and heat in the walls. It can show walls that are hot, meaning the insulation is to thin, also found missing insulation in the attic that was warming up the house. This is definitely with the extra money.

Well, but I thought more items would be inspected such as the swamp cooler, boiler, sprinkler, attic. All good, guess I should have read the fine print more closely.

An inspection was done by Axium, where a few minor items were found, such as an outlet was listed as inoperable, however, we were later informed by both a contractor and electrician, that several visible electrical issues were blatantly ignored. They also ignored a missing carbon monoxide detector and did not include it in the report. When asked to add that, they refused. Immediately following our closing, we hired a contractor and electrician to come fix the few minor items. During their assessment, they pointed out several visual issues surrounding the electrical system (live wire zip-tied to a water pipe, the entire basement wired through one single outlet leading to the upstairs, incorrect grounding, electrical panel, etc.). When they began their work, it was discovered that the basement was done illegally, was a complete fire hazard and deemed unsafe for occupancy. All work had to stop until the illegal electrical set up was removed, and a safe system installed. The scope of the electrical issues continued to grow as they worked to correct it. The amount of work involved forced us to push our moving date, twice, causing additional storage fees, and extraordinary stress on our family. The cost of the electrical fixes rose to approximately $15,000. The cost to fix the drywall associated with the electrical work was approximately $3,000. The additional cost of the painter to fix the drywall associated with the electrical work was approximately $1,700. We approached Axium to help make this right. They gave us the run around for awhile, then finally sent someone out to the house to see first hand all that was missed. They agreed that some major items were missed, and yet did nothing. After a few months they offered us a refund of $750 for the cost of the inspection. If we accepted that joke of an offer, we were not allowed to ever speak of our encounter with them to anyone. Not allowed to leave a review at anytime or anywhere or they would sue us for $5000. This is a life-changing amount of money for us that we absolutely did not anticipate. Prior to our purchase of this home, we were staying with family (for a little over a year) in order to pay off large medical bills. This amount of unexpected costs has put us back into debt, making it very difficult for our family to thrive, and causing an enormous amount of undue stress on all of us. Had these issues been disclosed to us prior to closing, we would’ve had the opportunity to negotiate a fix with the seller, or had the option to walk away. Unfortunately, we were not given either of those options.

Well. Report is exhaustive. Much of it seems cookie cutter, but the meat of it was spot on, and specific to my home. So many things in the report are referred to as "Seek additional guidance from a licensed professional it drives me nuts . But - understandable from a generic response. But ... that comment for a need to change a light bulb - really!

Jim Hardin was extremely professional and knowledgable and gave us great feedback on the property he inspected .I would definitely use him again. I always use Axium for my inspections.

They were great! On time, super friendly. My husband likes to shadow and be involved in our home inspections and they did a great job answering questions and addressing any little issues that was there. This was our second time using Axium and each experience with them is phenomenal.

He did a thorough job but I was disappointed in the appointment people - 1st time - they didn’t contact all parties involved of a reschedule and then the reschedule happened one day earlier than was scheduled. The first time the owner had to wait for 3 hours and the second time the seller and I were both taken by surprise. Also I am still waiting for the receipt for my cash payment.
