 + -1 moreHe wore booties in the house so he didn't track in any salt which was nice. He did a really good job and also cleaned up after himself. He knew what he was doing. He did call and keep us informed when he was running late. We have had no problems. Everything is looking really good so far.

Description of Work: I first contacted Rich about a plumbing job and he was extremely responsive and helpful in trying to find the most cost effective solution to the replacement of a double handle shower faucet in my master bathroom. I scheduled a date for the repair. Took time off from work and was looking forward to getting the repair done right. Unfortunately, Rich did not show up for his appointment and did not call me to tell me he was not going to make the appointment due to another emergency. I had to call Rich to find out he was not coming. His time was more valuable than mine. A simple phone call would have sufficed but I guess Rich did not feel it was necessary. Rich did me a favor because I found a fantastic plumber on Angies List, Integrity Plumbing, which I highly recommend over Lord & Reiser Plumbing. Also installed a new faucet- called me from the store to discuss options, etc. Everything about Rich was great, he's a really great guy that does an awesome job. Really seems to care about the customer. Highly recommend.

 + -1 moreWe have a small greenhouse, but did not have water access on that side of the house. Rich did a great job envisioning what we were looking for, and providing several options with estimates. On the day of installation, Rich showed up on time with everything needed to complete the job. He was very respectful of us and our home, and took great care to insure he did not leave any messes. He moved and returned storage bins on the wall he needed to drill through for pipe installation. He even wore surgical type booties so as not to leave footprints in our home. When the work was complete, he had me test the spigot and gave instructions for winter care. Thanks to Rich, we now have water access in our little greenhouse! We could not have asked for a better experience! Thanks Rich!

 + 0 moreRich was quick, efficient , very knowledgeable and professional. He explained the finish connections to the carpenters who will be repairing the drywall and resetting cabinets. He offered to come back if there were any problems, no charge, and offered to help with any other issues. I will be hiring him for some additional remodeling work.
Description of Work: We were having leaks in copper pipes, which required tearing out drywall and flooring. I wanted to redo all the copper pipe rather than have another leak causing major repairs later. I found Rich on Angie's List at Lord and Reiser Plumbing, and from the beginning, he was very understanding and accommodating. He came by the week before and gave me a very fair price and set the repair date. He arrived to make the repairs, completed all the work and did extra work without charge. I had a previous estimate, at triple the price Rich quoted, from another plumbing company that did a terrible job on three leak repairs. The other company charged almost as much for the leak repairs as Rich charged for redoing the entire section of plumbing to the kitchen and the bathroom. I would recommend Rich unconditionally as the finest plumber that has ever helped me with a plumbing problem!

Technician was not only professional and friendly but made smart use of technology. He had me email a copy of the part that had failed (from my camera phone) and figured out what part was needed and brought it with him to the service call. He also estimated future, less pressing services while he was at the house. We would use again.

 + 0 moreRich came out initially to diagnose a crossover issue with our hot water heater. He quickly noticed a temperature control valve that was set too high and adjusted it appropriately. He also diagnosed a temperature mixing problem we had in our shower. After an initial evaluation, we decided to hire Rich to replace our shower valve and the mixing mechanism. He responded to our call promptly and replaced the valve the same day. After careful adjustments, our system is working properly. Plus, Rich gave us advice on how to adjust our hot water heater in preparation for the winter. He goes the extra mile by making himself available for questions as well which we really appreciate.
Description of Work: Adjusted hot water heater temperature regulator. Fixed 'crossover' issues with hot and cold water lines. Replaced single lever shower valve and shower head.

 + 0 moreI chose Rich for our plumbing repairs based on his reviews on Angie's List and I'm glad that I did. Our repairs were for a rental unit that we own and we weren't able to be present during the inspection or actual repair so I needed to know that we could have a high level of trust in the person that we used for the job. Rich was prompt, very courteous and did a thorough job explaining to me what he found and his recommendations for the repair. Based on his findings and recommendation we decided to completely replace our duel water heater/heater (heats our condo as well as the hot water). He gave me a "not to exceed" quote and then completed the repair for significantly less than that quote. He also purchased an upgraded heater unit with a great warranty and actually discounted the cost difference to us so that we would have a higher quality heating unit. I can't say enough about him and will call him for any plumbing needs we have in the future.

He is extremely responsive, accommodating, honest, conscientious and does good work on top of those qualities! I will continue to use him and will recommend him to others.

water heater repair
 + -1 moreI had a leaking water heater that leaked water all over the floor. Due to the urgency, I called Rich at 11:30am. And in one hour he arrived. He inspected the water heater and pressure regulator and informed us that water heater is worn out due to excessive pressure. He suggested to have the pressure regulator replaced too as it was not givings us the right pressure readings in the pressure gauge. He then performed both replacement and the work was complete by 3:30pm. He did a good job - he even labeled the incoming water pipes to remind us to turn them off in the event the other water heater goes out. He also took the old heater away and cleaned up after the job. He was very nice and finished the job in a professional manner. Thank you Rich for a job nicely done!

 + 1 moreDue to a time crunch on my part, service was provided the same day I called, even though it ended up being 10:00 P.M., which I thought was exceptional. The system/process was explained to me in detail and professionally installed to ensure no leaks. My only complaint (which was probably an oversight, due to the late hour) was that the old tank, which was extremely heavy, was left in the basement for me to drag out. Lord and Reiser Plumbing is definitely my plumber of choice.
Description of Work: The old water softener system was disconnected and a new system installed. The hot water heater was checked out and an estimate for a new tank was provided.

Arrived on time, wore boots in the house, assessed situation and then had to leave to buy pressure relief valve, returned and placed valve. Charged me service, call parts , and labor minus 15% for Angies list referral. Very pleasant and polite. I had him return a couple of days later to adjust water pressure and adjust flow in one faucet and there was no charge. On 7/5/11 I developed a leak under my sink, a separate issue and he came over and repaired it and charged me 28.50.
Description of Work: Placed a pressure restrictor in water line and adjusted faucets so they would not squeal and vibrate when water turned on.

 + 0 moreAfter experiencing a rather pesky leak -- a mysterious leak that seemed to come and go -- for a few days, I decided to check Angie's List for a plumber to get to the bottom of it. Because it was obviously coming from a drain, I had no sense of urgency. I tried a few remedies myself, thinking I had licked the problem. Finally I discovered that my garbage disposal was the culprit -- I had ruled it out initially because it was fairly new. I called Lord and Reiser Plumbing based on Angie's List recommendations and the proximity of the business to my house and set an appointment. I inquired about purchasing the disposal in advance and he assured me that the one he was bringing, a high end "quiet-no vibration" disposal, was priced competitively, so I needn't bother. On the day of the appointment, he arrived 15 minutes early -- he was sitting outside of my house waiting for me to arrive from work. He began work immediately and replaced the disposal. Since he was already there, I asked if he could unclog my slow shower drain, which he did. He was at my home for a full hour helping me with a couple of other minor plumbing issues. Mr. Reiser is a friendly independent plumber who takes pride in his work and respects his customers. L&R Plumbing will be my first call when I have a plumbing issue. By the way, I priced the disposal on Amazon -- he charged me a price comparable to Amazon, even though the disposal retails for twice as much.

 + -1 moreCalled Lord & Reiser Plumbing 2 days prior to service to get a quote for service to do a minor repair to a disposal, add a whole house water pressure relief system and fix a leaky washing machine line. Price quoted was the best of several companies contacted. Arrived at the house exactly when he said he would, went over all the repairs that he saw needed to be made, and upon my request, added some services (line cleaning and spigot replacement) to the job. Throughout the day I was updated on the progress of the jobs, and given advanced warning of the water turning on/off. Took excellent care of the house while coming in and out, making sure not to let too much cold air in (it was -11 when the job started) and wore shoe coverings when coming from outside. At the end of the job, calculated price as hourly and on a 'per job' basis, and gave me the better of the two prices, explained to me the entire bill, and gave me the Angie's List discount without hesitation. Wouldn't hesitate to use him again, and have already given his number to several colleagues and neighbors.
