A Better Plumber

A Better Plumber tried to rip me off for $1300. They claimed that my water pressure was 140PSI and even showed me a photo of a pressure reading from someplace else as evidence. I thought their price was not good so I called another plumber instead. When the other plumber arrived, they showed me that my water pressure was actually only 60PSI. Incredible that A Better Plumber tried such a tactic to make money off its customer a few days before Christmas.

High 5's and huge thanks to Kyle Bunting for responding to our broken pipe on Christmas Day! He found the break, capped the pipe, and restored water to our tenants, stemming the crisis. Yay Kyle! Thanks also to Dakota who answered the phone when I called -- I mean, who wants to be working the phones on Christmas? She did, and was friendly and gracious. Thanks to all who helped us today.

!!! MAJOR PRICE GOUGING !!!! These guys are crooks! I needed a 3/4" pressure regulating valve replaced. They came out and quoted me $1,437.00!! As an experienced plumber myself, I knew that this price was absurd. Under most circumstances, I would have just done the work myself but I was way too busy with my own business and opted to hire someone. I then hired another local company and they completed the same exact work for $209.00! The valve is not very expensive and the work took about 35 min, yet A "Better" Plumber felt the need to charge 687% more than their competition. The sad thing is, the huge number of people who do get taken advantage of because they don't know any better!

I contacted "A Better Plumber (Formerly A Better Sewer Inspection)" recently and they provided my with text reminders which facilitated and solidified when they would be coming out to check my sewer 3 inch-4 inch drain from inside my home all the way to where the city 10 inch sewer junction was. This was approximately 95 feet from watching the video sewer inspection. KC Collins (Carlton but goes by KC) arrived on time (perhaps even early) and rang my door bell, introduced himself and was careful of his surroundings within my home. KC, from the time he arrived to the time he left, was courteous, conscientious, knowledgeable, friendly and willing to do whatever it took to understand what the issues were and how to correct them. This young man was detailed in his dissemination of information with regard to the concerns he found whilst scoping my drain from the home to the street explaining each aspect and each finding as he conducted his manual scoping. He not only did not rush the work (he did work efficaciously the entire duration of his visit), he truly enjoyed the work he was providing me the customer with. KC even made some friendly small talk while he was scoping and explaining some of the blockage flow issues with my sewer drain 3-4 inch pipe which kept me at ease and made me feel relaxed during this process. KC contacted the office numerous times to communicate and schedule follow up Hydro Jetting in a few days and was able to get me scheduled in quickly without hassle. My only criticism is that your company could not locate a machine with cloning/replicating capabilities to fabricate more KC Collins employees as he was simply the best employee a company can employ with superior work ethic, genuineness, friendliness, sensitive to the customer needs, and present in the moment (he was focused on the work!). Most importantly when I was explaining and going on and on about the issues I was having with pluming, toileting not working right, KC actively LISTENED to me! He let me finish what I was saying and did not interrupt me and then rephrased what I said to clarify to make sure he understood what my issues with my sewer and toilet were. That is a rare thing in this day and age. KC is an excellent reflection of what an employee or representative or even face of a company should embody. I encourage the owners/managers of "A Better Plumber" to do one or many of the following: Give him a raise, promote him, make him a trainer with increased pay for doing so, but most importantly retain him any way you can ethically. I have conducted business with many company's/employees over the years and it is quintessential that your "front line staff/employees out in the field" reflect in a manner that is befitting of your philosophy, credo, motto which KC does in spades. Sorry for the rant/rave, however I feel that if you have read this far please consider this company and KC or KC type employees that this company offers to suit your plumbing needs. -Noah (July 29th, 2022).

I will not do business with A Better Plumber ever again. I contacted A Better Plumber for an emergency water leak of my water heater and my indoor water main valve. They came out the next day to help me shut off the water and started repairs a day after that. The water heater was overdue to be replaced and so was the valve. They sold me a new tankless water heater, a new shutoff valve, a pressure reducing valve, and an inline filter. The total cost was just under $13,000. The installers were professional, the work was good, and the job was done in about a day. I thought the price was a little high but the job was done well and done quick so I let it go. I was a little bothered when they pressured me to sign a document waiving my right to cancel the job within three days but since the job was complete in under three days I let that go, too. I also had a potential sewer issue marked on my inspection (I recently purchased the house) so I asked them to take a look. The person they sent out to inspect the sewer took one look and immediately said all of the cast iron had to be replaced because the additives they put in our food corrode cast iron and if I don't replace it right away it will leak beneath my foundation and cause major problems. He also said the plumbing leading to the cast iron (the "main stack") was outdated and needed to be completely replaced. The estimate he sent to replace the main stack plus 20 feet of interior sewer line was $12,500. I was uneasy with his hard-sell tactics, pushing for immediate repair and pressuring again to have me waive my right to cancel. I decided to call another plumber for a second opinion. The second company says there isn't any clear damage to the cast iron. They offered to do a cleaning for $350 before inspecting again. If it truly needs to be replaced they said it should be around $8000 at the highest. They also said that the main stack was clearly recently replaced and in good condition. They ran scopes around to inspect it as well, which A Better Plumber didn't do. I did some quick searching to find pricing for the items A Better Plumber installed in the first job vs what they charged me. Here's what I found: * Navien NPE-241A2 Tankless Water Heater - Google: $1900 - A Better Plumber: $9599 * Halo 9 Inline Filter - Google: $500 - A Better Plumber: $1800 * PRV-100 Pressure Reducing Valve - Google: $200-$500 - A Better Plumber: $1398.99 My opinion: They did a good job. They charged a LOT of money. They tried to upsell unnecessary repairs. I will not do business with them again.

The were awesome and they came out super quick. They were very responsive. They did a great job.

We're happy with the service. They were very prompt and knowledgeable. We signed up for a yearly maintenance because they were very trustworthy over another company.

Only got an estimate, though I would advise caution with this company. They quoted me $5,500-$5800 to dig down and replace valve. I fortunately got several bids, none of the others were over $1000.

Rich from A Better Plumber came to our home to do a mainline inspection in order to help us sell our home. Rich was fantastic. We had a previous company come out and video the line but we were told if we wanted to hydro jet the line it would cost over $8,000 and would require digging and closure of the alley behind our house, which would be a huge inconvenience for all our neighbors. Rich took a look and said that our line was clean and didn't need jetting for one and that there wasn't a need to go through all the digging quoted by the other company if we had needed to jet the line. His honesty and professionalism were greatly appreciated and we will call this company every time we need a plumber. I'm so glad we'll still be in their service area once we get moved. On top of that, their price to video the line and get the report was significantly less than the other company as well.

Quick to call and come out. Even came back out to fix another project. Extremely experienced. Rustin was awesome.

They were great to work with. I am thinking of calling them back to change the size of the water heater as they changed it from a 50 gallon to a 40 gallon. Also, the water pressure in the kitchen is very low.

Service was, without a doubt, above and beyond. I came home from a work trip to find that my hot water heater had a bad leak and was flooding part of the basement. The day after I called ABSI, Shawn arrived to check it out. He was knowledgeable and polite. The price was lower than I expected, as some adjustments needed to be done to get it up to code (all of which were done for free). The next day Shawn was able to have it all installed and the old tank carted away. I was worried that getting a replacement would take awhile and be a headache, but they really made it stress free. I would definitely use their services again for any future issues!

I spoke with Travis. He knew exactly what I was talking about. I had an appointment two days later. It ended up that the previous contractor that did some plumbing took out the water pressure gauge coming into the house. The pressure was at 100! That is what caused the bladder to go out on my hot water heater and ruined other things. The hot water heater was fixed that day, as was a pressure gauge put on the incoming water to the house. Charged the quoted price, even though he had to go pick up some equipment. Very knowledgeable, professional, friendly and efficient!

After receiving quote we decided to do it ourselves. I was able to do this work for less than 15% of their (quick fix) Quote. I appreciate their timeliness and experience but it did not make sense to spend $750 for a repair we could complete.

They arrived ahead of the promised schedule and completed the job quickly and efficiently including a great cleanup.

We called 3 different sewer repair companies and had horrible experiences with 2 of them. Canceled the third before they showed up. I didn’t like that I couldn’t trust their opinion because they have a $10,000 job to sell. Found this company and they were by FAR the most professional. Did what they said they would, when they said they would and for the price they said. Highly recommend!!

Shawn Anderson fixed our bathroom sink! And he did so great! He put in all the time that it needed to be completed and went out of the way to figure out what the problem was. Not too mention the cost was so reasonable. Definitely will use these guys again!!

The tech (Beau) was able to perform the work the same day. He was knowledgeable, and did a good job. During the project, my main water shut-off failed - and he was able to fix that in addition to the bathroom job. They were very professional and personable, and the price was reasonable and fair. Overall, an excellent experience.

Terrible - they never contacted me. I am selling my home, and the buyer's home inspection report is requiring that the P-trap under the bathroom vanity be replaced by a certain date. I had Lord & Reiser several years before for other plumbing work, and found Rich Reiser to be very professional, courteous, and thorough. Naturally, when this need arose, his is the first company I considered. I went on their website, filled out a service request form, and waited to hear when they might be able to schedule the work. After several days, I had zero response. So I called them earlier today (about noon), but was only able to leave a voice message. I mentioned that this issue was time sensitive, and asked that I be called ASAP to schedule the work. As of this evening, (6:30 pm) no email response, no phone call. I get it that many trades are very busy right now, but it only takes four or five minutes to return a phone call or an email, and suggest a date. I'm sadly disappointed that a company I had been very pleased with a few years ago, seems to no longer care to even respond for repeat business. Their website states: "We know that once you use our service you will be a customer for life." After this experience, I have to say, that will not be the case for me. What a pity.
