A Better Plumber

Everything went very well and the owner was very responsive. Identified that there was a simple cause for the leak and was able to save me quite a bit of money. I would definitely use them again.

They did a good job. They came out pretty quickly. My only complaint was that there was some confusion with the coupon on Angie?s List. When I spoke to a guy on the phone, because I didn?t purchase the coupon right away, I wanted to make sure that they were going to come out and do the job, so I did not have to worry about a refund or anything. When I talked to the guy on the phone, I asked if they charged for an estimate or if they had a service call fee for coming out and he said they didn?t, that they only charge by the hour and charge for parts. I was okay with that, so they came out and did the work. While his guy was doing the work, I purchased the coupon from Angie?s List and gave it to him. The coupon was like pay $25 and get $75 worth of work but I wasn?t quite sure of what the deal meant and the guy that drew up the invoice just assumed that the coupon meant that I would pay $25 to them instead of a $75 service fee. When I called the owner, I told him that I paid $25 for the coupon and $25 to his guy and he told me that they had all this expenses of getting out here, so they charged the service fee but he didn?t say that to me the other day when I talked to him about it over the phone. He said it was a mistake but they did charge a service fee and that he will write me a check. He finally said that he would mail a check but I never got a check from them for $25. It was not worth going all this trouble for but I was not happy with the situation. The work was good, they came on time but there was really a bad communication when it came to what the coupon did and what the expectations of the charges were. He gave me an attitude that I was trying to rip him off when he specifically said over the phone that there was not going to be any service fee or estimate fee. He made me feel like I was some ungrateful customer. Update: I finally received the $25 check (for the service fee refund) late September which was almost 3 months after he agreed to send it. I am still out the $25 that I spent for the coupon that he refused to honor.

What was a rather flimsy and leaky little valve was replaced with a full size valve handle and really professional copper pipe work. Water can destroy a house, now I feel very confident this water line is solid. Rich from Lord & Reiser is a real pro. Great communication and "makes it right" like Mike Holmes.

Rich was able to schedule me on a day I had off (I contacted him about a week and a half ahead of time). He called me to discuss what parts I would need (I emailed a laundry list of things I needed to have done), so I was able to get some of those before he arrived. He called me on the morning of to let me know his timing and approximately when he would be arriving. We went through the list and he started with the PRV replacement. (Advice to others: check your water pressure to see if your PRV still works! High pressure can damage your hot water heater.) After that was done, he went through the list I had and explained what needed work and what really didn't yet. He suggested maintenance tips for valves and what to be aware of as potential problems in the future. Rich is very generous with information, so it's great to ask all the questions and learn. He got the tasks done very quickly (less time than either of us guessed.) And he remembered about the Angie's List deal for me at the end (I had forgotten the discount, I was so happy everything was done)! I have already given his name to two friends of mine needing plumbers. I would not hesitate to hire Rich again for my plumbing problems!

Rich Reiser is awesome -- very nice guy, honest, got the work done, and showed me what he could do at different price points so I could choose how much I needed from him versus what I could do myself.

Chris installed a new toilet in our basement and did a hot water heater flush. Chris was prompt and courteous (he even hauled away our old toilet). We've L&R repeatedly since they know our house and water system inside and out. They warranty their work and even provide tips on how to perform DIY plumbing tasks without flooding your house. For example, there was air in our hot water recirculator pump after Chris did the flush and Rich quickly explained over the phone how to get it working immediately and what to look for in case it were to happen again. This shows me they respect their customers and are willing to help without making (or charging) unnecessary service calls. Rich and his team are our family's first choice for any plumbing needs.

I purchased an Angie's List Big Deal for this service and it worked out very well. They came out shortly after I purchased the Big Deal.

They returned calls promptly, showed up precisely when scheduled, and met me at the door with business cards and introductions. Very professional, courteous, and hard-working. We were very pleased with the quality of the work. We would use them again, no doubt.

L&R Plumbing will always be my first call with any plumbing problems! Honest, friendly, knowledgeable, and kind. Sometimes it's so hard to find business that are run as respectably and you would run your own, but this is one of them. I cannot say enough good things about Chris.and L&R Plumbing. I've been extremely worried about how much this was going to cost and how bad the damage would be. They called me back promptly after I had to leave a message and they were able to get me in the following weak (it was not an emergency). Chris arrived during the scheduled time and I showed him upstairs and ran the water so he could hear the leak. He tightened up the overflow cap, but it was still leaking and said he would need to cut into the wall. He cuts in and looks around. It's completely dry with no signs of water damage, though he does find a nut that was a tiny bit loose, which he tightened. We go downstairs and listened again and still hear the noise, so he says he's going to need to cut it where the sound was downstairs which had easy access through the closet. He gets in there, looks around, again, it's totally dry and no signs of any sort of water damage. He said there was a creaky board that he could feel that might be making a noise. He said the only other option would be going in through the kitchen. At this point, I'm actually rather annoyed and doubtful, but I say ok. He gets in there and spends time looking around and can't find anything at all. I'm skeptical (and so is he), but he said that I can look myself. So he goes upstairs, fill the tub, run the water and look around. I can hear the noise as usually, but seeing all of the pipe, there really was no leak. We went back over to the closet and he showed me the creaky board. He said if the noise bothered me, I could probably put a little insulation around it before putting the drywall back. Since he had been here for 2.5 hours, I was extremely concerned about how much this was going to cost and all of ultimately finding nothing and having 3 holes to patch, but to my delight, he came back and just charged me a $25 service call charge and said he wouldn't be able to sleep tonight if he charged anything else since he ultimately didn't find anything. I was so unbelievably relieved. While I don't love my three holes to patch, they were well worth the peace of mind knowing that he looked along the entire pipe and didn't just stop and tell me it was all fine. He also was very considerate with cleanliness and covered the area he was working in with a big plastic sheet I had and made sure to go out and shake off the dust. He also offered to come in and vacuum the areas he was working in, but I declined, just because I would already be vacuuming the rest of the house that day anyway. I asked his advice on cleaning up after mold (I had had a leaky dishwasher before) and he cheerfully took a look and made a suggestion. It's not as common these days that a business values you as a customer for the long term and has the integrity to put you first. Above and beyond., L&R. Thank you so much!

I did get my questions answered but since I am out of their "area" (I am too far North), I did not want to pay the extra fee. The company was very quick to return phone calls.

A bathroom faucet was dripping - again. I had another plumber fix it TWICE so this was the 3rd time this faucet developed a drip. The appointment was confirmed prior to the arrival day, the guys arrived on time and quickly found and fixed the problem.

My experience went okay with Lord & Reiser Plumbing. They charged me more because I had the drain elbow underneath the sink. The washing machine is in the basement. It was backing up into a bathroom sink in the basement. We have tried to clean it up ourselves and it cracked the elbow in the drain and pipe below in the sink. I paid another $50. It cost more than I thought it would. They were a little bit more than I thought they're going to be. They did a good job. They were very clean and very nice, very polite people. They were very communicative. They called and sent emails.

I gradually lost hot water pressure. My hot water heater is about 8 yrs old. I had the water heater flushed, but that didn't solve the problem. After reading about a similar case that was resolved by repairing a check ball, I called Lord & Reiser plumbing. I used a coupon from Angie's List that saved me $50 on a service call. The plumber arrived on time and quickly found the problem and repaired it, saving me the cost of replacing the water heater. I highly recommend Lord & Reiser plumbing.

I called on Thursday and Rich was able to work me in to the next day's schedule even though they were booked. The communication was good. The price was reasonable. Will use this company again when I need a plumber.

I have a heighbors tree root that grows in front of where my main line drops into the city. Thatis why the sharpened blades are important. i do this twice year..

.Woke Monday morning to find a leak coming from somewhere in my kitchen that I was not able to find. Called Rich and he was able to make it over within 3 hours with his partner Derek. Rich quickly found that the leak was coming that a tube that had been improperly discovered underneath my dishwasher. He was able to stop the leak and install a new tube quickly. Meanwhile, I had Derek address a faucet leak under a sink upstairs which he was able to fix in minutes. After fixing the leak, Rich performed a whole house plumbing inspection for free. While over I also had them install a water pressure valve to protect the plumbing of my new home. Overall, Rich and Derek were very friendly and quick and efficient when it came to their work. If I have any plumbing problems in the future, I will be giving them a call first.

When I called on May 6, Rich was able to schedule service for May 8. He gave me a hour window of time and said that I would receive a phone call a half hour before they would arrive (which did happen). Rich and his partner were very friendly and professional. They asked if I would like for them to remove their shoes before entering the house (as it was raining outside), which I thought was very considerate. They began work immediately, turned off the water to the house, and opened the faucet and shower downstairs to release the water in the pipes (the leaking faucet was upstairs). They worked very efficiently, disassembled the tub/shower valve, rebuilt it with new bib washers and seats as needed to eliminate the leak, and restored the water. Rich asked me to try the faucet handles to make sure that they worked comfortably for me. He also explained that a drip would happen for a short time after turning off the faucet. The bill was very fairly priced. I was impressed with their professionalism and would use them again when I have a plumbing issue.

It all started with a plugged toilet. I was able to personally snake away that problem. Then i notice the flopper valve holding water in the tank wasn't holding water. So i went to a hardware story for a replacement. It didn't work---wrong size! While trying to personally fix the problems, I tried to shut off the water to the toilet tank so i could work on it,. The shut off valve began leaking and spilling water all over the bathroom floor. I called five companies before I got these guys. No one could come quickly to help solve my problem. The quickest time was the next day, with one company trying to schedule me five days away. These guys came with two hours, fixed the problem completely, did not charge me with an emergency fee and loved my dog! All things considered, this was perhaps the most pleasant experience i have ever had with a plumber!

They did the install a few days after Christmas and were very prompt and courteous. While there they recommended i also put in an emergency shutoff valve since i told them about a flooding incident i had several months earlier regarding a burst pipe. They called me when the part was in and promptly came out and installed it along with replacing an aging pressure relief valve. Overall it was a great experience and i would hire them again in the future.
