I was not happy with them at all. I was really disgusted with them. They said that they were going to turn me over to collections. They said that I signed a contract. I called them for voles. I didn’t want any household perimeter spraying. I didn’t have any bugs or mice. I had voles that were disturbing the landscaping. I had used a vole company before a couple of years ago. I realized that I could see some activity last April. Edge Pest Control came and they said it would be $100 plus if I did all the spraying and everything. But they said that it would be $89 to come out and put those black boxes everywhere with poison in them. I thought that it had to be underground but they said that those boxes would take care of it. They said that they would come out and check on them. I don’t ever remember signing a contract. But it turned out that as the summer came, I got another bill for $89. Then in fall I got another bill for another $89. I called them to enquire about it and they said that I would get charged quarterly because they come out and check the boxes. I told them that I didn’t know about that. That is when they said that I had signed a contract. They said that they will mail the contract for me to see. They sent a contract and it looked like my signature was carbon copied on to that form. I called them about it and they said that they wouldn’t do that. They also said that if I quit them, then I would be charged a 60% penalty fee for canceling early. Then I get another bill for over $200 for canceling and then there was the bill from the fall. So it was $450 for coming four times a year for voles and it was ridiculous. I went outside yesterday in a nice weather and there were voles everywhere and I have tunneling everywhere. I am not happy. They came when they said they were going to come.

This is not being written to make excuses or defend our actions. I understand that when it comes to you and your interaction with Edge, you had a bad experience and we take responsibility for that. You might be thinking this is coming a little too late – I absolutely agree with you. You may wonder, why now, after all this time, why not just let it go and move on? Because we are truly trying to improve, we genuinely want to take better care of our customers, past and present. Apologizing for our mistakes is part of that process. When Edge started in 2009, there were just four guys, a truck, a warehouse, and a handful of customers. We didn’t even have chairs to sit on, just boxes of pest control products. In five short years, we grew faster than expected to five branches and thousands of customers. Along the way, we had some growing pains. We made mistakes and have had to learn from them. While we wish that we never messed up in the first place, we wanted to apologize and thank you for helping us have a learning moment. I wanted to let you know some of the recent changes we have made at Edge to better take care of our customers. We have completely overhauled our customer care program. I also filed the only other report for this contractor about a year ago. They had been coming every three months per the agreement, and I had not seen any bugs or had any problems for the first nine months or so. I began to see ants near the end of May; they were due to come mid-June. I contacted them to schedule the appointment at a time when I would be home, as I decided to have them spray the baseboards as well (typically they only do the outside, inside the garage and the basement). We specified a time of 11 am to 1 pm, since I knew I would be gone from 8:45 - 10:15 am. When I returned home at 10:15, they had already come and gone. I immediately called the office; they were already out of the area and therefore came back another day. I have never had them spray the baseboards before, so I did not know exactly what to expect; I assumed they would just spray the baseboards. They sprayed the kitchen floor up a couple of feet away from the baseboards (I mopped the floor later that day, as I often walk around the house with bare feet. They sprayed the windows from the inside, and nailed a couple of (formerly) edible herbs in the kitchen window. In the basement, in addition to the normal spraying, he sprayed each overhead floor joist. When I decided to go upstairs, I was hit with pesticide that ricocheted off of the ceiling. In the garage, I noticed the tech sprayed everything stored on the floor near the walls. For some reason I thought they would spray around things, and didn't realize that I might later be handling tools that had been sprayed with pesticide. A month later, I found a colony of ants / flying ants at the same place on the back step. I called them, and they offered to send someone out several days later to spray again at no cost to me, but in the end I decided to cancel the contract. Since the infestation was back after a year of regular treatments, and about a month after the last treatment, it didn't make sense to continue. I wasn't getting the results I wanted; no point in doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. A friend recommended ant traps, as a cheaper and safer alternative than spraying chemicals all over the house. I put out a couple of different brands, and within a few days, I saw no more evidence of the ant colony. I have decided to have the crawlspace adjoining the basement sealed for energy efficiency reasons. I've read that it can also eliminate chronic pest infestations that persist despite an extermination program. If I have another pest infestation, I will do more research and may or may not use this company again.

I contracted with this company for pest control because of a recurring problem with flying ants in my basement. They were punctual and performed the work as requested. I gave a B for professionalism because the initial contact told me they had good reviews with the BBB and on Angie's list, but it turns out they were not on Angie's List.
