This company has performed service and maintenance on my A/C and furnace for several years. In recent years I have noticed an apparent drop in the level of training of the technicians who are sent to perform maintenance. Each recent maintenance inspection has seemed to find new problems with the apparently working systems. This year, the technician informed me that my furnace, although only 10 years old, would probably need to be replaced, based on two measurements he thought indicated that the furnace was the wrong size for the house (never brought up before) and aging parts that would be more expensive to replace than just replacing the whole furnace. After expressing my disbelief, the technician agreed to go back and review the service records that he had not brought with him and talk to his supervisors. The company followed up with a call that the furnace performance was within historical parameters and there were no issues. Had I not been skeptical, I might be purchasing a new furnace right now.

Response from Save Home Heat Company
We respectfully disagree with the customer’s assessment of Save Home Heat's conclusions and recommendations. Good faith suggestions were offered regarding the equipment, which we installed approximately 10 years ago. No pressure was applied to replace the furnace at this time. When the customer posted this message, we offered to return to the home and provide a full explanation of the issues, and to potentially provide resolutions at no cost, and they declined that offer.

They were a little late, but got right to work. Save Home Heat Co. thoroughly cleaned and inspected our furnace in a courteous and professional manner. In their inspection, they detected a fault with our furnace bearings which we can still get covered under the furnace warranty. If left unattended, it would have been very costly for us to replace. THANKS GUYS!!

New condo, everytime we turned on heat, smoke alarms went off and the condo smelled awful. They came and took apart furnace and fully cleaned, even taking a huge part outside to clean with air compressor. It was horribly dirty and loaded with dog hair that was getting burned up. They showed us everything as they did and explained allot. Everything works great now, no problems at all. They were very friendly, on time and very helpful.

We just bought the house and I didn't know much about the system so Jason offered to walk me through how everything works before he did our inspection and cleaning of the boiler and radiant heat system. He found a leak in one of our pipes while showing me how everything works and said it was a minor fix and could repair it on the spot. It was a good thing Jason was there because the leak could have turned into not having heat. Price was fair and time spent fixing the pipe was pretty fast. I would recommend this company again.

I used an Angie's List coupon for an inspection of my heating/boiler system. The technician showed up on time and seemed very professional. He answered my questions, and seemed to give my boiler sytem a thorough inspection. He did not release the pressure relief value, which I thought was odd. He said they sometimes get stuck open, so it was best to leave them alone. At the end of the inspection, he indicated that I needed a very expensive spiral air purge eliminator (costing $750). I thought it was curious that he did not release the pressure relief valve, but then said I needed an air purge eliminator. Anyway, I did not completely trust this turn of events, and will definitely seek a second opinion before going forward.

Response from Save Home Heat Company
We believe the customer may have misunderstood some of what she heard from our technician about her boiler (hot water heat) system. It is accurate that an older pressure relief valve often leaks after being tested--sometimes immediately, sometimes shortly after we leave. Because the solution to that is typically to replace the part, we give the customer the option of whether we should test it. That way, if it does leak, they understand ahead of time what the cost/benefit is. The air eliminator is a seperate issue (they are not related). The air eliminator removes tiny air bubbles from the boiler system, to prevent the system from becoming airbound or noisy, and is a recommended part of any modern boiler system, typically replacing older style 'air scoops' that are not nearly as effective. While a few occasional systems are still installed with the old style air scoops (or sometimes, none at all!), it often makes good sense to recommend a modern air eliminator in cases where we do not find one already installed. We attempted to contact the customer to discuss these issues and provide greater clarification, but our calls were not returned. We would be happy to discuss it further with her at any time!

What impressed me was Save Home Heat's rapid response to fix the problem and get their insurance company involved. The insurance would not cover the mold portion of the damage which was over $940, so Save Home Heat paid for it without hesitating. This is the kind of company that we should all like to deal with.
Description of Work: We engage Save Home Heat to service our humidifier, furnace, air conditioner, etc. annually. When servicing the humidifier, the serviceman made an error and didn't properly reinstall the humidifier. The leak, which went unnoticed for two days caused damage to the carpet and pad and some mold. Human error can happen to anyone.

Went pretty well. They returned my call the following day and scheduled my service for that very morning. Steve arrived, analysed the work to be done, and went to his truck to get tools. But when he came back he said he was getting sick from a bee sting earlier that day (he's apparently allergic) and had to go home and medicate. I thought they would call me back to re-schedule, but after waiting a day, I called them and we re-scheduled for the next day, between 10 and 11am. When no one arrived by noon, I called to inquire; they couldn't find my order right away, and while they went to hunt it up, I got a call-waiting that turned out to be from the repair guy (Steve), who said he was running a bit late. Anyway, he finally showed up (a bit late again) and got to work and did a fine job. I got a bit scared the next day, when my lawn sprinklers stopped working and made a terrible racket in the pipes. I called the company, but they're apparently closed on Saturdays ... they do have an emergency number, but I didn't leave a message. Instead, I cleverly used the number from my caller id from when Steve had called, and tried leaving a message on it. I seemed to have gotten cutoff before I left all the details, but Steve actually called me back in just a few minutes. He walked me through a few things to try: first, double check the sprinkler pipe valve -- ok. Next check the main valve - it was on, but not fully open. He told me to open it up fully, which I did. I then tried the sprinklers while he stayed on the line, and all was well again! He apologized for not having fully opened the main valve. I didn't think of trying that seemingly obvious thing, because all my other faucets were working ok (though now that I think of it, a tad slower than normal). Anyway, everyone was happy at the end. Steve was very knowledgable, professional, friendly, and understanding. My only real gripe, was that the price seemed a bit high (even after the 10% senior discount). I had tried to get a quote from another company (Nautilus Plumbing), but they never returned my two calls (one to main number, one to cell number), so I only got the one quote -- right over the phone, because it's apparently a fixed-cost item. That and the fact that they could come over that same day, and that they had a good Angie's rating, convinced me.

This is an accurate post from the customer. Our plumber did get stung in the face by a bee that day while driving in his van and is highly allergic, and so was unable to perform the work as planned. After we did perform the requested work, he apparently did not fully open the water feed valve. As the customer stated, our plumber was helpful, competent and friendly, and worked through the solution with her on the weekend, and we certainly apologized for the inconvenience it caused. Regarding the price, we are as forthcoming as we can be regarding the cost of our work. Unlike most companies that have fixed prices for services, often quite high, we are willing to discuss pricing over the phone if we can (it’s not always possible). In this case we did let the customer know in advance what the cost would be, and it was agreed to. We believe that is as fair as it can be. We are pleased the customer indicated they would work with us again and look forward to doing so whenever Save Home Heat can be of service.

Response from Save Home Heat Company
At our visit to the home, we made good faith suggestions regarding how the problem with the water heater might be resolved without a repair, and the customer was only assessed our minimum diagnostic charge for the visit ($75). When the problem resurfaced several days later, the customer was advised that there would likely be additional costs associated with the return visit, since the attempt to avoid a more costly repair didn't pan out. Arguably, we should have sent out a technician without discussing costs, but our dispatcher thought it would be fair and honest to let the customer know that a more costly repair was now likely. Our dispatchers have been advised in the future to make the second visit as a customer service, and our technician can then make the appropriate assessment on location and discuss with the customer as to whether another billable visit is in order.

They were great - I love them! I love the equipment & they're great on service. The city had to come out & do an inspection. I wasn't aware I had to call them about it - This company got in touch with me to let me know that if I didn't get the inspection soon the city would charge me a fee. The people who come out are also very nice. I always have questions & they're very good about talking to me. I chose them because of the equipment they use & because they offer 24 hour service. Only real problem was that, I said I'd seen an Angie's List coupon & the owner said he was completely unaware of it but he gave me a discount anyway for another reason.

Got an Angie's coupon for this highly rated company. The very next day they had somebody out. This was a pleasant surprise since we were experiencing a record heat wave. I have 2 complaints with Save Home Heat Co. When I first went there 2 years ago, they sold me a $250 plan to check and maintain the units. I never figured out what they $250 was for. The 2nd year I did not buy the contract. I have an older house and I had them come in and check the boiler. They replaced some parts and that was fine. The work they did seemed to be good. It was the information that I got from them that seemed off to me. Many of my questions were left unanswered. One piece of information that they did not tell me but that I got from another professional later was that I had air in the lines which was causing hot and cold spots. I would have expected them in 2 major visits to find something as obvious as that was a disappointment. I will possibly use them again.

Regarding the first complaint, the $250 service plan purchased was for routine maintenance on the HVAC equipment, and that work was performed and included a signed agreement, so it is unclear why there was any uncertainty regarding what it was for. Regarding the complaint that air in the lines wasn't mentioned during two major calls, our work during one of those calls included replacing parts associated with that air elimination system, so again, it is unclear why he believes it was not mentioned. We were requested back for additional service calls after this initial comment was posted, and we would welcome working with this customer in the future.

Just fine. They were responsive and professional, showed up on time . Safe Home was always here in when planned, had reasonable prices and a very direct and simple way to address some of the issues that made plumbing this bathroom difficult. They were very professional, and we will use them again.
Description of Work: We had a heck of a time finding anyone to update the plumbing in our bathroom. Before these guys, we had called in many different plumbers for an estimate and the prices varied drastically, often they didn't show up for the time agreed on, and several didn't ever call back with an estimate. We had and older bathroom which was plumbed in correctly, and not up to code. We needed to install a new shower and move a toilet.

Larry from Save Home Heat showed up on time and was very courtious. He inspected the water heater and quickly determined that it wouldn't need to be replaced, but that it was adivsable to replace the thermocouple. He consulted us before he started the replacement work and provided us with the old thermocouple when he was finished. He also cleaned the dust, etc. out of the remaining portion of the water heater. The work was completed under the estimate we were given when we arranged the appointment (by about 10%).
Description of Work: The pilot on our water heater wouldn't stay lit. We asked Save Home Heat to inspect the pilot to determine if it could be repaired or if we should replace the water heater (if the pilot couldn't be repaired or if it would be too expensive to repair). We've had problems with the thermocouple in the past and the water heater is about 8 years old. While we didn't want to replace the water heater, we were open to replacing it to avoid future problems (and maybe inhance the efficiency of the water heater).

The scheduler called back changing the appointment from Wednesday to Monday due to my medical condition. Over the phone the technician suspected the problem was a blown capacitor. He arrived exactly at the prescribed appointment time. The temperature in the house had climbed to 90 degrees with the A/C being out for over a day. It did turn out to be a bad capacitor. After the repair which took less than 30 minutes, the A/C vents were putting out cool air less than 65 degrees. I am extremely well pleased with all aspects of their service and will definately use them again.
Description of Work: My A/C had stopped working during a record breaking heat wave in the Denver area. This was on a Monday and at first Wednesday was the earliest they could come out. They asked if the outside compressor was running. I explained that I could not get outside to it due to a medical condition.

They were on time and very professional. I like the way they honestly assess your needs. For example, last year they said the filter was okay; if they had told me it needed replacing, I would have been hard pressed to say no. Also, a year ago, I asked if they could run another water line off of my RO water filter. They said they could, but it would be cheaper to have the original provider do it. It's rare to get this candor these days.
