Very professional. Very good. It was December the 5th of 2015. There was one huge slip up. The repair man who came to check my furnace and very nice guy named Larry, said he would notify the office that I was interested in a quote on having some additional vents put in and they never came through. I did not follow up, things got very chaotic here and I couldn't have done it anyway. It was a slip up and it wasn't anything I couldn't live with but the follow up was just not there. They could have notified the other department that I was in need of a visit and a quote and it wasn't done. It was a regular maintenance call. I think it was for $175. They are not very far from me and quick to respond and I've never looked for another service.
Description of Work: They put in a cover for the decorative cooler. They put a cover on the outlet of the evaporative cooler. Changed furnace filter and checked it's performance level.

Wow. These folks are amazing. In between the time when I first called to finishing the installation of my order, I felt tremendously cared for and valued. At the first, my options were clearly explained to me, and then refined by the inspector who mentioned that I didn't initially need as much as I had ordered, and so downsized my units. I left a key with them for the installation (as I was going to be traveling on business), and came home to a beautiful installation (well, as much as a furnace and a/c can be beautiful, but it worked properly and looked clean and I had lots of documentation). I also had rebate information provided for me, along with lots of detailed instructions about what I had received and how to schedule an inspection, and received a phone call later that week with questions on if I were pleased or not. Oh, and there are two free maintenance inspections included in the price. I plan to use these folks from this point on, and would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone.

Everything went great. Their quote was very competitive, and they were the most responsive to my questions. Plus another firm insisted I needed a new programmable thermostat, while this one said I could retain my current one. Their quote also included a seasonal discount, a pay-by-cash discount, and a free 1-year maintenance visit. The installers were amiable and professional. They arrived punctually, and performed the install in the time they had said it would take. They hauled all the old stuff off, and cleaned up thoroughly after their work. They explained what I needed to know about the furnace, prepared the paperwork I needed to file to get an energy rebate from Xcel power (all I had to do was mail it, and the rebate came in a week), and helped me getting the inspection all set up. The county inspector came the following week, and that also went without a hitch. During that week, the furnace ran just fine. But, I eventually noticed that my doorbell had stopped working. After checking the breaker box, I saw that the furnace and the door bell were labeled as on the same circuit. So I called the company, and they came out the next day, saw that a wire had already been loose, and probably further jostled when they did the install. They quickly fixed it, apologized for the issue, and that was that. Easy, and again, very responsive.

This is an overall review of my experience with Save Home Heat. I started dealing with them when I selected them to install an expensive Triangle Tube combination heating boiler and water heater unit in my home. The original installation was done in January of 2013. Well, here we are 2 years later and I think I have a pretty good idea of how this company operates. I am a Federal Government Inspector and have been known to be very detail oriented so bear with me please. The new Triangle Tube installation went well and looks very well done. The only error I found was one of the new zone control valves was installed backwards which caused banging in the system. This error was corrected within a week of my complaint about it. Taking everything into account, my first year with the new system was problem free and I was fully satisfied. On the free one year inspection of the unit by Save Home Heat, I was told all is well but I needed a new filter for the condensate that runs from the unit. $300 for a new filter every year? I did not replace this and found later that it did not need replacement - it just needed to be rinsed in water. Lesson learned, request the Triangle Tube expert for yearly inspections. Just short of 2 years with the Triangle Tube the issues began. First, no hot water was discovered on 2 different occasions. Save Home Heat sent repairmen and this was resolved. The Save Home Heat owner agreed to cut the repair bill in half and my cost was under $200. Then, the real issues began. No heat or hot water. As a matter of fact, no heat on several occasions in November when the temperatures were well below freezing. I came home from trips to find the temperature inside my home hovering at 50 degrees. This is when the repeated visits by Save Home Heat servicemen began. They couldn't seem to fix the unit and I actually had to use their portable electric heaters to heat my home one weekend. Major hassle factor at this point. I was poised to demand a new Triangle Tube unit as this one simply did not function. Finally, after a persistence I had to admire, Save Home Heat's expert found the likely root cause of the issues. Many parts were replaced, the expansion tank was replaced, the Triangle Tube sales representative was present onsite, and more. I simply wanted this Triangle Tube unit fixed or replaced. This whole scenario cost me worry and many hours of my personal time. Save Home Heat made it right. It was obvious to me they were not going to give up on it. They called in Triangle Tube experts. They sent their own expert on several occasions. They did what it took to correct the situation. It's been over 2 months now with everything working perfectly. The unit was out of warranty during all of this and I was quite concerned about the cost of all these repairs. I finally received the very thick envelope containing the repair listings and charges. I nervously read through the pages looking for the total charge. There it was, hand written on the last page was "NO CHARGE." Wow, here is a company that did the right thing. Talk is cheap while actions show the real integrity of a company. This company was there to fix the problem and then do the right thing for a loyal customer. Would I buy another Triangle Tube heating system? Absolutely not. Would I use Save Home Heat again? This is the only company I will use for my heating and air conditioning needs for many years to come. They do more than they have to and value their customers. What more can you ask for?

Save Home heat had been doing occasional maintenance on our furnace and we were very happy with the technicians and the quality of the work. When our furnace finally died, on the basis of past experiences with the company, we decided to purchase a new furnace from Save Home Home heat, a top of the line Lennox. We have had the furnace for about a year. We recently had a plumber over to do some work in the bathroom. This work required removing drywall around a pipe chase. Removing the drywall revealed that Save Home heat had not secured PVC vent pipes (they rattled), that the PVC joints were not glued together, and that the firestop had been cut to run the furnace pipes and not re-installed properly. All of these were code violations that the plumber thought represented a safety hazard (and would prevent his work from passing inspection). I called save home heat 4-5 times on the day the problem was discovered and several times in the subsequent days. I spoke to someone in repair department who told me that my problem was an installation issue and that I had to talk to someone in installation. I left messages for the installation manager (Bill) and never got a call back. So I'm leaving this post for other people's benefit. SAVE HOME HEAT DOES EXCELLENT REPAIR WORK BUT TERRIBLE INSTALLATION WORK. The installers had no idea how to operate the furnace. After installation it wouldn't turn on, and the humidifier didn't work. A repair person was dispatched to repair our hours old furnace. The repair person both got the furnace and humidifier working and explained how to use the new digital thermostat and other features. Upon carefully inspecting the work save home heat did in our home I have found many small problems in addition to the larger problems mentioned above. Admittedly, I should have looked more carefully after the work was done but I had confidence in them on the basis of my own experience and other online reviews. I think the problem was just a lack of oversight on a installation crew that really seemed to be clueless, in a rush, and had no pride in the work they were doing. I have photos documenting the problems I've discovered a year after installation but I can't seem to post them in the review.

We’re disappointed that [Member name removed] was not fully satisfied with all aspects of our work. We were unaware of this review until well after the work was performed, so commenting on some of the particular details, such as providing incomplete information to his inquiries, is difficult. As a general course of business, we are thorough in our processes, before and after installation. We pull permits with each installation and they are inspected by the local municipal authorities. Feedback from our customers is overwhelmingly positive, and we invite customers to visit our website to see the stream of comments from our customers after we perform work. We invite you to have one of our representatives visit you when you are considering new equipment, to form your own opinion. We have recently been in contact with the customer to attempt to clear up any misunderstandings and have made an honest effort to make things right with him. We have been assured by [Member name removed] that he is now satisfied with Save Home Heat Company, and he has assured us that he is making attempts to update his negative online reviews of the company.

I called them panicked at noon when I couldn't get our furnace working. They immediately had someone come out and take a look. He got the furnace working, and checked throughout the house for any problems with the airflow, as well as checking the overheating on the furnace itself. He then explained to us what was going on - the furnace was overheating and locking itself out due to low airflow. We opened up all of the registers in the house, and they are going to come back and look at what it would take to putting in another return in the basement. Overall, I was very happy with how long it took, the price, and the professionalism of the repairman.

I needed repair work for my furnace and came to realize the coupon only applied to tune-ups. I spoke with "Gary" from Save Home Heat, he was helpful, but what seemed redundant was having to email my available times and then be contacted by the Company and told via email to CALL the company to set up the appointment. Why not Call in the 1st place. Gary told me I could request this refund.

Sounded good over the phone. Tech showed up and told inappropriate story and in general just not professional. He changed the relief valve but was not careful. He got silicone paste all over the floor and left a bunch on the plumbing fitting that needed to be wiped off. The valve was changed and the leak stopped but I was not happy with the price or the quality of service. I would not recommend or use them again. As a matter of fact, the tech forgot to write down all of our payment information and the office had to contact us to get the missing information. I told them that I was not happy with the service and if they wanted their service manager wanted to hear about it he could contact me. I never heard from them.

Larry found that the collector box in the furnace was leaking water and had to be replaced. The outfit that installed the furnace 8 years did not wire it for two-stage operation, but the thermostat was OK. A few days later the inducing motor failed, so that had to be replaced. Larry knew what he was doing and explained his diagnosis and recommendations clearly. I appreciated his expertise. In the end, I paid a lot more than I expected, but I believe the repairs were necessary; corrosion from continued leakage would have shortened the life of the furnace. After a month, the furnace is working reliabl |ey and smoothly in two stages and there is no more leakage.

When he replaced the water pump, I'm not sure what exactly happened but shortly after the water pump was replaced, our pressure release in our furnace started to leak water. I had a different company (at a different date) come and they noticed that the temperature of the boiler was set way above the standards of boiler systems - which more than likely contributed to the expansion tank blowing out and the pressure release blowing out - leading to water all over my basement. Obviously, we don't know who turned up the furnace but the other company said that it should've never been allowed to be up that high. Not sure why it wasn't caught or done properly on the first visit. Maybe the issue of the temperature being too high isn't an area that is involved with the water pump? I'm not sure - and it could be one company bad mouthing another. Reason for a lower score: when I called to let them know of this issue, without viewing the condition of the furnace, they immediately denied that it was a related issue. The other company that had come in to evaluated said that it might've potentially been related - if the repair guy had increased the temperature, it would've been too much for the system to handle and the pressure release could've blown out. The guy on the phone said "Well, it's not related but even so, it had been a month and three days" (which didn't sit well with me). He also told me chances are it didn't have anything to do with the pump. Additionally, I also told him that I smelled a slight odor of gas in my home and asked them to look into that. He told me that it would be a service charge to look at the leak and the smell of gas. It was also getting towards the end of the day (I think I called right around 3 - 4pm) so they would charge me $175 to come and see the issue of the water and gas smell. So I was upset and called around to different heating companies and what really upset me is that on more than one occasion, I was told by their competitors that Xcel energy will come out and inspect potential gas leaks for free! Of course, I was very upset that I wasn't told this by Safe Home. I didn't think that was fair that they didn't suggest this as a potential option. Here's where I feel like Safe Home really stepped things up. I was really upset and took to Angie's List to describe what had happened. I got a personal phone call from the owner and he explained his side of the story and even offered to try and make things right. He stands behind how his employee that answered my call responded to my inquiry of the water leak and the gas smell - one which I don't totally agree on - but I do understand that if a customer has a technician come out to fix an issue with their furnace - and another issue (totally unrelated arises) and the technician arrives to the home, there could be issues with then demanding payment for a dispatch call on the totally unrelated item. What I still don't think went well (and this is what I expressed to the owner): - The immediate defensiveness in saying "it's already been a month and three days" and without seeing the issue, flat out saying it's not related. Perhaps they could've told me that there's a potential chance that it's not related. If it does end up unrelated, I could be liable for a service call charge. Regardless, it sounds rather bad to a customer that a month and three days should somehow affect how they stand by their work. - Not telling me that I had the option of calling the gas company. It turned out that my furnace wasn't burning natural gas efficiently so my super sensitive nose picked up the gas smell (fortunately it didn't end up being any sort of issue). I think a simple suggestion of calling Xcel (like their competitors did) is the right thing to do. Given all of this, it's very hard for me to assign a letter grade since I would give the owner's response an A versus the guy who handled my inquiry (over the phone) about the leak/gas smell an F.

Response from Save Home Heat Company
After we learned that the customer wasn't pleased with a phone exchange regarding follow-up service, they were contacted to try to learn more and to resolve it. We learned that they were not happy with how our office responded to their concerns. We learned that they then called another service company, had multiple visits from that company, and were not fully satisfied with the outcome. We apologized for the issue with their initial call, and offered to send a tech out at no cost for additional consultation, which they accepted. The customer expressed to us that they were fully satisfied with that follow-up visit. Internally we have discussed how we handled the customer's request for follow-up service. We stressed the need to be cognizant of addressing the customer's concerns first, and of being friendly, welcoming, and helpful. While making sure the customer is aware that certain things may not be covered under warranty is important, we understand that should not interfere with making sure the customer's safety and warranty needs are met. If that had been our primary goal, we may have avoided the circumstance of this partially dissatisfied customer.

I called Save Home Heat because our A/C would stop working by late afternoon. I purchased the A/C Inspection, Cleaning and Tune-up offer. The technician was pleasant and professional. He arrived later than originally expected, but the office kept me informed and since I live way South, and it was rush hour traffic, I completely understood. When he arrived I was on a conference call, so my adult son showed him around and explained what was happening. Basically, the A/C would work well for many hours and then it would just stop working. Sometimes, if I turned it off for a while, it would start working again. When the technician arrived, the A/C had been running most of the day and had stopped working. I finished my conference call and spoke with the technician, he told me that the only thing I could do is to replace the entire outside unit (compressor) for over $2000. I told him I didn't understand how/why that would be necessary when it DID work for so many hours of the day. As we were talking a brief rain shower happened and the A/C started working again. He was amazed and did a little more checking on the A/C unit, but still told me that the compressor needed to be replaced. I told him I'd need to talk it over with my husband. When I realized the next morning that I didn't know if he had cleaned the unit, I called the technician and he replied that he didn't remember if he cleaned it. After talking over with my son what had happened while I was on the conference call, it was clear that he did not clean the unit and at that point, since it wasn't running he couldn't tune it. My hope before the appointment had been that if it was cleaned, maybe it would work a little better. It had not been cleaned that season. It's now over a year later and the A/C continues to work. Even the week before last, when it was over 90 every day, it keeps the house cool. I've found that as long as I keep the thermostat set to 77 or 78 (not lower!) it is pretty reliable. Maybe replacing the compressor would be the thing to do, but it's hard to justify the expense since it does work. I would not use Save Home Heat again or recommend them to my neighbors, but that decision is mostly from the distance we are from their office. Perhaps they should not include Centennial in their service area.
Description of Work: Inspected our A/C.

Response from Save Home Heat Company
This review came in well over a year after our service visit, which is a bit unusual. The employee involved no longer works for us, so we are unable to verify the particulars. The customer stated in their review that, "Maybe replacing the compressor would be the thing to do" (as our technician recommended). Since it is still running a year later, the inference is that we acted improperly. Because we recommend a unit be replaced, yet it continues to run a year later, does not mean that the recommendation is off base. In this case, not being able to set the thermostat below 78 degrees seems supportive of bigger picture issues, which could be seen to support our technician's apparent recommendation. Unless safety is at stake, which it wasn't in this case, it would be typical for us to discuss options, not just provide a 'replacement only' approach. However, because the technician is no longer working with us, providing a more definitive answer is not possible. If we did not offer alternatives to replacement (such as performing routine maintenance), we would be in error. It should be noted that we welcome customers in the Centennial area and are confident we would provide competent, friendly service!
