It took a couple of times to get everything working as it should, but I have to say it's a big improvement! for an old computer. (I had a tech come to my home previously and he was NOT able to resolve all my issues.) It was great to have this done remotely and Garry was very prompt with our appointment. He was patient in dealing with these problems and able to clean it up and get it working much faster than it was. Since this is an older computer, I found that the memory was much less than what is coming out on the newer ones. He said that the internet protection that I have been using was tying up too much of what memory it had so he downloaded something else. He also suggested that I use Firefox instead of Explorer, which he installed. That has helped a lot and he was able to fix it so I wasn't seeing the hourglass all the time going from one site to another when searching the internet for information. Thanks Garry! That helps a lot until I get a new computer. I would use his service again and recommend him to others that need help with fine-tuning their computers.
Description of Work: I contacted My Remote Repair as my desktop computer was running very slow and having some issues which were making it hard to work on. It would take 10 minutes or more to get it going, and go through several screens when shutting down. It would sometimes just not want to turn off either. I also would get the hourglass a lot either while I was typing or just changing from one internet site to another. It seemed like it took FOREVER to get things accomplished online.

My PC was hanging/crashing and was unusable. I called my remote repair and he was able to connect to my machine. We ended up reloading windows and new anti-virus program. Now the machine is working again.

Garry responded right away with available appointment dates for me to choose from. I picked a date and he was right on time. Garry went right to work and fixed my computer in no time. Description of Work: I had icons on my desktop but when you clicked on them, nothing would appear. Garry cleaned up my computer and put everything back where it belonged. He also added protection and updated anything that needed updating. As someone who doesn't know the first thing about a computer, it was nice to have his expertise to offer advise on what should and should not be on the computer.

Description of Work: My computer was at the point where it was it was beyond repair by any anti-virus system. Garry was able to restore my computer to a like-new state and was able back up all of my files with no problem. The contact with Garry at My Remote Repair went more smoothly than we thought possible for a service of this type. Garry's professionalism and ability to communicate with "computer novices" made the entire experience very pleasant. He quickly figured out the problem, gave us all the steps of how he would resolve it, and kept us updated on the progress every step of the way. My husband sat and watched it all happen as Garry worked on the computer remotely. It was so much more convenient than having to take the PC into a shop, and at a much better price! We will definitely use My Remote Repair again should a similar need arise.
Description of Work: Garry Robinson of My Remote Repair remotely diagnosed and corrected some programming issues my husband had with his Windows PC that we had no idea how to remedy. Garry responded to our initial request promptly, set up an appointment with us for the very next evening and explained to my husband every step of the way what needed to be done and how he was going to go about taking care of the issue. After the work was done, he followed back up with us to make sure everything was working. The call with Garry was friendly, professional and efficient -- and kept us from having to haul my husband's PC into a shop somewhere. The whole job was done in about an hour.

Called and left a message and "MCR" returned the call promtly and we had a few conversations to allow me to answer some questions. Utimately he gave me a way to fix my computer after a few 5 min conversations and sent me on my way with no fee charged. So bottom line - fixed computer, and no money spent. Great Experience.

It went pretty well. It was an old computer with XP Pro. It had a virus. But it also had other issues from what we feel like was the previous computer guy that had worked on our network and then this particular computer.The computer still has a few problems but is much better than before.

Gary was personalble, responsive, and effective. It was a pleasure to deal with him. I will continue to consult him in the event of more computer problems.
Description of Work: My desktop pc was sluggish, very slow to boot, etc. I suspected contamination with viruses. Gary took control of my computer remotely and spent a couple of hours cleaning and rearranging the start menu and other files. It is now much more responsive.

My computer had developed a number of annoying Google problems that I couldn't figure out. I saw the $49.00 special for remote fixing my computer. As soon as I paid for it on Angie's List, I received an email and a phone call from Garry. I called him back and explained my problems. It took him maybe 30 minutes (he had to break away a couple of times) to sort everything out. I am very pleased with his promptness and professionalism. If I have problems in the future, I will definitely use him! (And I didn't even have to unplug my computer or take it anywhere!)

Description of Work: Called Garry for help/advice on how to get data off my laptop that was hanging up on the WIndows startup screen. He not only provided helpful information to my specific issue but also gave additional information to help me on my way to recovering my data. Highly recommended and above all best CUSTOMER SERVICE I've dealt with for computer repair. Didn't charge me for the information even though I would have paid for his advice. Note: I called from Omaha, NE - he's in Aurora, CO. No incentive for him to help me - he just did it. Very impressed. Best of all, he called me back a few minutes later to give me additional information that he looked up for me after the call ended. Call him, you'll be impressed.

I was able to get the issue fixed right away. There wasn't any type of appointment needed. You logged in and a technician called you and then remotely took over your computer.

Garry was fantastic! He figured out the problem with my laptop, which required a complete system restore. He patiently walked me through the process without triggering my usual anxiety attack over anything computer-related! He also determined that my cable modem was faulty and needed to be replaced. He suggested I ask for compensation from the cable company, which I did. The amount I wascompensated fully covered Garry's repair charge! Thanks Garry! I'm your new biggest fan!

I emailed Garry a list of my problems with a 5 yr old desktop. He said that to fix all the issues, it would require to complete restoration of the operating system. Because it had had an operating system upgrade, we would have to go back to the original operating system and go through all of the service updates and then the operating system upgrade. That would involve many hours of computer and internet time. He said if I had the time, I could do it but it would not be worth paying someone to do it. He suggested buying a new CPU with a current operating system and installing it as my least expensive option. He also suggested places I could find inexpensive CPUs.
Description of Work: I ask if he could repair and received advice on how to deal with a desktop computer that was developing a multitude of problems.

My computer was not going very fast so I contacted Angie's list for a computer repair sevice. The Computer and Repair services returned my phone call right away, it was on a weekend. A very nice man asked me what the problem with the computer was I explained what it had been doing and he checked it out remotely. The conclusion he came to was that I didn't have enough DSL power to do the things I was trying to do on the computer to call and tell my provider that I needed the power pumped up. I called them and they wanted more money per month to provide more power. I did nothing as I can't afford to pay them more than what I do. The computer did seem to function better after the computer repair man checked it out. I was well worth the $49.00 ( his minimum charge) I paid. Thanks

My husband was trying to get a new printer installed and we were having problems. So we got online to get someone to come out. We gave access to our computer to the company and they doubled charged us. So then we called and got a recommendation from AL's and we had him check any kinds of problems that the other guy tried. They went through everything and to make it faster. Upgraded us to a new IE versions. I have nothing but positive things to say about this company. he fixed the problem when he said, he was very personable and very knowledgable. I would defiantly use him in the future.

With little fuss and no muss, he solved my problem. Gary remotely connected to my computer to work his magic, so there was not of the unplugging and re-plugging that I so try to avoid. I would recommend Gary to all my friends and enemies. He saved my hours of messing around, with a strong possibility that I would not have fixed the problem at all.

There was some confusion over whether the appointment was scheduled for Central/Mountain time. I was expecting it an hour earlier and contacted the provider 30 minutes after the anticipated start. Fortunately, Gary was free and called me back within 10 minutes to begin the service. He also called the following day after the service had been provided, thinking we had an appointment that day. ?? This issue with our computer involved slow loading of web pages, and occaisional problems with the web sites freezing. Gary performed a speed test and also malware scan using applicatons generally available over the internet, if you are aware of them. Some objects were reported as infected with Malware and removed. I was hoping to be able to review the report/log to know which objects, but this was not available after the service was provided. He also reviewed the computer's firewall and browser configurations, and noted that there were two firewalls running, windows and McAfee. While he confessed to never having seen multiple firewalls running concurrently, he said they appeared not to be in conflict with one another. Gary performed another speed check following his service, but noted that the download speed continued to be in the 1 M/sec range, which is consistent with what we have from our internet service provider. The internet connection speed was not noticeablly improved, nor was the page loading. After the My Remote Repair service was completed, I discovered our internet service provider had a free online repair service specifically for slow internet issues. This service took two actions, it checked the firewall configuration, advised me I had two firewalls running and to turn one of them off, and second it cleared the browser cache. Once these actions were taken, connecting to the internet seemed faster as well as page loading, although the download speed using the same internet speed test site Gary used still shows only about a 1 M download speed. We have not had any problems with sites freezing up since either Gary's service or the actions taken using my internet service provider's applicatoin. With this type of issue it's difficult to know which actions may be responsible for the slight improvement we've noticed. Gary suggested increasing our internet speed through our internet service provider would make a noticeable difference. Our current service is for up to 3 M/sec. Having two firewalls running concurrently does appear to have been part of the problem, and I was disappointed that Gary did not know this. While I had taken the steps prior to clear out most of our cookies, I hadn't thought about clearing the browser cache and was disappointed Gary had not performed this action.

Garry called at the times that he promised, assessed the problem. He worked to find the best solution for our problems. They were that the computer was running too slow and Internet Explorer was redirecting searches to other websites. Garry talked me through reinstalling WIndows 7, which fixed the slowness problem and cleaned up the computer. Ultimately there isn't a soluton at this time to the Explorer issue, but Garry recommended using Mozilla Firefox as a solution and it works well. Overall, I was very happy that I didn't have to disconnect my pc and take it to a store that would have charged me more, kept it for at least a week and would not have really helped. I will call again if I experience issues in the future.

Garry was very punctual. I reported the problem on Saturday night and he called first thing Sunday morning. I was out when he called, but he got back in touch Sunday afternoon. He was patient and professional and even did some extra research for me. It was very nice not to have to take my computer to the shop or to have someone come to my house (my home office is a disaster!). Unlike some technical people, he did not treat me like I was a new computer user. I would definitely use Garry's services again.
Description of Work: Garry remotely checked my computer to make sure my printer driver was installed correctly. He also helped me learn how to create a pdf in MS Word and helped trouble shoot another pdf program I'm using. The problem seems to be with the pdf program and not my computer, which I was glad to learn. Garry offered to answer any questions I had regarding my computer and took a lot of time working with me.

"Remote" work is limited to a degree I dident think of. Ended up doing nothing on this, but want to say that if you cant connect to the internet, this is not going to help!
