Had very slow computer. He made several adjustments that took several hours over the course of a couple of days to implement. Computer is running much better. I did have to pay more than the initial cost, but it was well worth it. I had to call him again within a week and he quickly fixed my problem. He called me by name when he answered the phone and he did not charge me additional for the quick repair.

Everything went fine until we got to tranferring the email information.. After multiple failed attempts to do the transfer of the email data he gave me the phone number of the Microsoft people and they fixed it.

Although Garry was unable to "fix" my desktop remotely, we were able to save all important documents and start over at my computer's original settings (unusual virus that disallowed remote access and file downloads). Garry was able to figure out a way to save my data on my laptop without wiping it all out. Garry was patient through the process and responsive/thoughtful in the way he handled. He also helped set up some additioinal virus/malware software, so although the help was above my 1 hour at $49, Gary was able to tackle it all in a couple hours for around $100. Money well spent and avoided having to take my computers into a shop locally...

I purchased a Big Deal coupon for My Remote Repair. First of all, in reading the reviews, Gary had suggested that you communicate with him first so that you would know what to buy. My computer was in such a bad shape that you would need to refresh the internal programming right from the very beginning. I called Gary and he logged on right then to check the computer and said he didn't really think it was that bad. He suggested to do something where you start right from the very beginning and just put everything back and do all the updates. It's just like new, the only problem is that it's 10 or 12 years old. If he did that, where would I be at that point? I would have invested all of this and everything was up to date and he said that in his opinion, he thinks that it would be better to just get a new machine. So we did the tune up and it's been working very well. At that time, because of my financial situation, I could not just buy another computer. So everything is beautiful. As soon as I buy another computer, he is gonna be the one to set it up so that I can use it. The thing that I noticed the most was that Gary was trying to help in my situation. He identified what the problem was, told me what it needed, worked around that all within the time and price range. It's just like he was doing everything he could to help. He's just fantastic. I would tell people that he's an excellent person to call and I don't think there's anybody there that's better. If it's something that he cannot fix remotely, he will tell you that he can't help you and there's no charge.

They were unable to find any problems with the computer. The slow working of the computer could not be repaired. Ended up being a waste of money for me.

He returned my call within 20 minutes. He took my information and stated he would call me back in about 20 minutes. He called back as promised and took control of my computer. In about 30 minutes he removed viruses and everything else that was bringing my computer to a standstill. I could observe my computer screen as he was removing these culprits. My computer was six years old, and I almost to decided to buy a new one, but decided to spend $49.00 with "My Remote Repair" as a last resort. It was the best $49.00 I have ever spent. It saved me $600.00 or more. My wife and I have always loved our Dell, and we are glad to have is back in service. Thanks Gary Robinson! Bert and Louise Armin Lenoir City, TN

He found out that the security program that I had had actually deleted the restore partition in my computer. He said there was nothing he could do and that I needed to contact Dell. It left me feeling a little bit abandoned. For someone who's doing this for a living, he seemed either hesitant or like he was trying to take on too much at once.

In perspective this was a free diagnosis. A small percentage of all calls received will ultimately receive the same answer. Today's computers are shipped without a restore disc set. In place. They have a hidden partition. If this hidden partition is corrupt then a call to the PC manufacturer must be made. The manufacturer will then send you a recovery disc set upon purchase of verification.

Garry with My Remote Repair was great! I would totally use him again! He was nice on the phone and very responsive!
Description of Work: I was trying to down load a big file for a class I was taking in Auto Cad. I could not get it to down load. Garry fond all the problems and got the software on to my computer in just about 2 hours...maybe a little more. One of the problems I had was a firewall stopping the down load. Every one at school said it would take at least 3 hours ounce you figured out how to do it. Before I called Garry I spent an entire day trying to do this.

After I purchase the Deal, I rec'd an email to contact provider. I did not receive a response the first day. But when I called the next day I got an immediate telephone response.
Description of Work: My computer crashed-I had a message appear that it had encountered a serious error and shut down, kept getting similar messages when I tried to log on. Upon initial contact provider had me try a couple things to restart my computer to no avail. He determined it was probably unrepairable as it was not responding at all to what he told me to try.

This was my first time getting my computer fixed remotely and it was the easiest thing I've ever done. No need to drive to a shop and drop off your computer, which is nice because the closest computer repair shop is about 12 miles away. The whole process was hassle free and my internet connection was restored. I run a small business from my home and so having this type of IT service is perfect. I recommend this service.

Mr. Garry was very responsive and patient with the work he had to do on my laptop. I've had the laptop about 5 years and it was not updated. Mr Garry had to re-install my Windows Vista and all programs. We even ran into a bump in the middle of the repair; that caused us to start the process all over, but he was just as patient and apologized for the mishap and we started the process over without any complaints. He has the knowledge needed to complete the job in a timely fashion and I would use his services again if need be. Thank you

I was not sure if Garry could help me. My computer had crashed and I could not get my system to reboot. I sent Garry an email explaining what had happened and asked I he thought he could help me. He called me and asked me to try a few things and then told me that he thought my CD Rom drive was not working. So I went to buy one and install it myself. After that I installed Windows 7 and got my system operational. Garry called me to see how it all went. It was getting late and we agreed to restore my files in the morning. He called me and I logged into his web site so that he could remotely acces my computer.Once he had access, he began checking to ensur that everything was working properly. He tried restoring from my hard drive but there wasn't much there. So he tried restoring from my external hard drive. He found my back-up files but could not get them to restore or open. In the process he noticed that my CPU was maxed to 100% msot of the time. My hard drive was not working properly.I opted to replace it and installed it myself. Then Garry worked on restoring my files for about 2 hours with no luck.. So while he did not restore my files I am satisfied with the service because he found and helped to correct 2 problems. As for my files being restored, they are resored now. I went to the website manufacturer and reinstalled the software so I could open my back-up files. So my overall rating is an A- or a B+. I would reccomend and use this service again.

I believe I addressed the entire experience above. It took longer than usual, because in the middle of everything my modem went bad and I had to replace it. The bad modem made the restoration of my files take longer because it kept disconnecting itself before the restoration was complete. Gary stayed with m until the whole process was completed. e
Description of Work: My PC screen was not allowing me to log on or start. I knew I had to get help but I did not know whether to get someone to come to my house or haul the CPU to a repair shop. I did not know what the charges might be or if I could even trust someone to get inside my secure files. I decided to go on Angie's list because I know the service providers had already been vetted and approved and I could see reviews from other users. Also, you know up front what you are going to be charged. I found a list of remote computer repair services with A listed reviews and various prices with a special coupon deal. I chose My Remote Repair in Colorado as the one I wanted to hire after speaking to Gary, as the technician/owner I could work with. I live in Houston and there are plenty of places I could have found, but I always go to Angies List first. Giving a stranger access to your computer is risky if you don't know the background or integrity of the person you hire, but I trust the various providers that I have hired fron the list and I have always been happy with the service. Gary and I started working together about two weeks ago. My situation took longer than usual because I found that I had to replace my modem and my files were up at Carbonite and had to be restored. Replacing the modem took some time and even though Gary had had already repaired my computer, there was still the matter of restoring my files. Gary and I would communicate by phone. He would call and I would give him authority to access my computer remotely and then after a few minutes I would hang up and he would go to work . If I called and he was unavailable, he would call me back promptly. He also gave me a free virus protector as well as a free software application which is similar to Word, as mine had expired. After he finished he told me my computer had been extremely slow and he did several speed tests before and after and brought the speed up considerably better than it had been before. I am not computer literate, but Gary patiently explained the situations to me and what he was doing to bring my computer back to its full performance level. He was very pleasant to work with, very professional, and I would not hesitate to recommend him. I believe I recieved more than full value for what I paid for the serviice.

Garry performed the service I request beyond expectations. He was polite, personable , communicative. I will tell all my friends about is service.
Description of Work: My Outlook email stopped working when Outlook and Hotmail did some kind of a merge. I called Gary at 9:30 AM. He answered the phone and after listening to my issues he took over my computer by remote right then. After only a few minutes we hung up and he called me back in about 20 minutes. He still needed more time so he told me to call him back in two hours. He explained very plainly that it was really Outlook's fault and that they were no longer a very reliable email provider. He suggest gmail was much more reliable and more secure. He set me up with a gmail account right then while I helped and I understood everything he was doing. Everything from Outlook should be imported soon and I should have a complete history and contacts very soon.
