He showed up on time. Began to work right away after I described the problem. He was very organize and neat. Even better than all of that, he was a great teacher. He was very willing to share his knowledge of his craft, which I could tell was very extensive. He had to make a trip to the hardware store for parts. Ross is a kind person with the best work ethic I've seen in a long time.
Description of Work: Had 2 plugged drains, one in kitchen sink, the other in the main shower. Ross was kind enough to come out the day I called to fix the plugged pipes. While removing the 55 year old pipes to work on the kitchen sink plug, the metal pipes essentially disintegrated in his hands due to over use of Draino. He had to rebuild the kitchen sink pipes after clearing the plugged lines of both kitchen and shower. Oh, I forgot, he also worked on a dripping facet in the basement bathroom.

Russ suggested Pipe Spies to locate, mark and inspect my sewer line. Turns out THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH MY SEWER LINE! The company that told me it was leaking was being dishonest. None of the other contractors who came to give an estimate made this suggestion. Russ and Warren from Pipe Spies saved me thousands of dollars. You guys are the best! I will always call Russ first from now on with any plumbing concerns.
Description of Work: I called Master Blaster to give me an estimate to repair what I was told by a different contractor was a leaking sewer line. Russ was very thorough and professional. He suggested I have the line located before any work was considered and boy am I glad he did!

Excellent. Master Blaster is a pleasure to deal with; not surprisingly, we are repeat customers. Ross was punctual, professional, and always puts himself in the shoes of the customer's budget. His first visit was to diagnose the problem. The second trip replaced the vacuum breaker. The repair was done quickly and on a timely basis as we plan to start up our sprinkler system in the near future. We never hesitate to recommend his capable services to family and friends.

Ross was very professional, he gave me a call 30 minutes before arriving so I could meet him there from work. He gave me a very honest analysis and afordable solution to the problem, he also looked at almost all of the other pipes in the house including good advice on my maintaining my wastewater line
Description of Work: I Had a leaky water valve - It was very corroded and when I tried to turn the bolt on it, it only started dripping more. I figured I needed a new valve. Ross took one look at it, said the Stem nut needed tightening, did the job in a few minutes and only charged me for the service call. I was prepared to have a whole new valve installed, but this saved me A LOT of money. I highly recomend Master Blaser!

Ross and the Master Blaster crew did an excellent job of replacing a section of our sewer line. The work was scheduled and completed within a week of contacting them. Once he had dug up the area needing repair, Ross discovered that the repair was more difficult and extensive than the original report from an independent inspector had indicated. However, he only charged $150 extra for the additional materials, and nothing for the extra labor, which was considerable. They kept the dirt on a tarp and hauled away the extra. During the process of the repair, Ross kept in touch to inform me of the progress, and he called me back promptly the couple of times I called him with questions. Master Blaster was a bit more expensive than the other companies we got bids from, but we decided to go with them because of their professionalism and high reviews. Well worth the extra money and we will most definitely be calling Ross at Master Blaster in the future for all of our plumbing needs.
Description of Work: Sewer line was replaced just outside of house where the line goes from cast iron to clay. Installed new clean outs. Required digging a 2.5 foot deep hole.

A few weeks prior I had 5 total quotes. A few did not een bother to come by the house to see what the job entailed and quoted me over the phone. Ross Whitesel came right out and gave me a quote that was only a few dollars higher than what others had quoted for the job. When I scheduled the replacement of the water heater, he was busy with another job and said he would call me back which he did a half hour later. When Ross came out for the replacement, he origianlly quoted me the price for a water heater with a 12 year warranty but found that it would not fit and promptly called me to let me know it what was going on but he had a 9 year warranty unit that would fir perfectly. He found a gas leak in my house as well as replaced the hot/cold water shut-off and gave me a discount thank s to Angies List. that came below many of the competitor's quoted prices. I would definitely recommend Master Blaster again and again. Ross is a professional, who does quality work and is more than happy to take calls regarding any questions.

Summary: Excellent service quality from Ross Whitesel! Detail: Ross was punctual with returning calls prior to the appointment. He arrived just outside of the appointment window but he had called me earlier warning me that he would be a few minutes late. I appreciated his call - it was clear that he takes punctuality seriously. Ross did an excellent job at evaluating the work to be done, writing up a work-order/contract, and going over the details before starting the work. I was clear about what he was going to do and how much it would cost. He gave me a carbon copy of the signed work-order before starting work. He explained that this was protecting me from changes to the work-order that I didn't agree on. The quality of work was excellent. I hung out with Ross for a lot of the day and he knows what he's doing. Ross is very willing to explain and teach about what he's doing. I'm an engineer so I was more than willing to listen and learn. Throughout the job it was clear to me that this guy has quality as his priority - quality of work and quality of customer service. He was very clean and arrived with plenty of floor mats and towels to protect the work area. He carried out all of the waste including the old water heater, cardboard boxes, etc. His truck was very clean and organized. Pricing was very fair for the quality of work and there were several points at which he could have charged me more but didn't. One example was a leaking gate valve on the main water line - it's a convenience valve close to the crawlspace entry so you don't have to go all the way into the crawlspace to shut off the primary valve. I hadn't been in the crawl space for a few months and when we looked in we noticed it. I had a similar leak in the primary gate valve several years ago and I called one of the big plumbing companies out to fix it. $500+ later I had a new ball valve. So now with Master Blaster, Ross says, "Oh yeah, you just need to tighten up the lock nut. It's part of normal maintenance on a gate valve." He grabbed his wrench, showed me how to do it, and it was done. He could have made a few more bucks off of me but instead he's got a customer who trusts him. Clearly better for both of us in the long term and Ross understands that. Awesome. I look forward to working with Ross for all of our plumbing work.

I am sure that this gentleman earned his money this day. He was very polite and left me feeling that I had been given my moneysworth, unlike most of the other plumbing repairs I have had done for me.
Description of Work: Drain in basement laundry room was plugged, also the floor drain became stopped up. Due to the condition of the plumbing, the drain overflowed and flooded the basement floor. The basement is crowded with boxes of clothing, and miscellenaeous things belonging to my daughter, and is very messy. However, the plumber cleaned up the mess, and repaired everything to my satisfaction. Unfortunately, I had to make an emergency trip to the hospital, due to a heart condition, and I have just now been able to complete this report. I intend to ask this plumber back to complete some other plumbing problems I have, as soon as I become well enough.

He was very good and efficient. My wife was the one who dealt with him while I was at work, and she said he was very professional and a nice guy as well. He left us a free drain cleaning 'tool' for small issues with toilets or drains. I will use him in the future for a number of plumbing projects I need to finish around the house.

I called Ross when my gas/CO detector alarm went off in my home. I asked him to repair a drain in my basement at the same time. Ross returned my call immediately and offered to come over and check out the gas leak even though it was 9:30 p.m. He determined that there was a leak, turned off the furnace, and assisted me in opening the doors and windows for a short time to make the home safe overnight. He repaired the drain at the same visit. When the first furnace repair person did not identify a leak the next day, Ross encouraged me to call another company for a second opinion. When that company identified the leak, he stayed in touch with their repairman and me throughout the two day process of the repair (A part had to be ordered and send by FedEx). It was an extremely cold period of time and I purchased a portable heater for our bedroom areas. Ross insisted on bringing me two additional heaters the second night for the other two floors in my home in order to assure that we would not have problems with pipes freezing. He made an extra trip without charge to deliver the heaters. All in all, Ross went above and beyond to be sure that our home was safe and that we were as comfortable as possible throughout the repair process. This is the second time I have called MasterBlasters and I will continue to use this company!
Description of Work: 1. Confirmed that I had a leak in my gas furnace and assisted me in getting the repairs completed by a heating company 2. Opened a drain in my basement.

Ross is Master Blaster, and he does good work. We bought a house last year that was equipped with water pipes in the attic, which froze and broke of course despite that we thought we had them turned off. We turned them off harder and drained them better, but they froze and broke again. We scheduled Ross to come repair the problem, but when they froze a third time and would not shut off he adjusted his schedule to address our problem first. We combined a couple other less pressing plumbing problems into the work we asked Ross to do. Ross designed and installed an elegant solution to the attic pipes that combined replacing the faulty valve, adding a siphon valve, and changing piping elevations so that the water can be shut off and effectively drained to prevent future freezing problems. By the time that work was done and we turned back on the water supply we found that a leak had developed in the ceiling in the basement. A weakened spot where two pipes were touching, with resulting electrolysis, had given out as a result of the work twelve feet above it. Ross moved immediately to locate and repair this new leak. He then replaced and improved the installed sump pump in our below-grade garage. Throughout all, Ross was prompt, cordial, professional, and incredibly hard working. He made a point of educating us about our plumbing and pointing out what we could do throughout our house to reduce plumbing problems in the future. We have long wanted to know of a good plumber who we could call when we needed one. Now we know.
Description of Work: Replaced frozen attic water pipes with new valves and copper in siphon draining configuration. Repaired leaking interior pipe. Replaced sump pump for sub-grade garage.

Our 50 year old shower faucet developed a leak and I expected the entire faucet would need to be replaced which would have involved removing tile and possibly cutting into the drywall for access. Ross was able to remove very corroded parts, track down the store that carries the replacement parts, and now we have newly rebuilt faucets that should last another 50 years.

Master Blaster (Ross) was amazing. I called with a problem with the valve in the toilet to get an estimate and instead, he walked me through the whole replacement process over the phone! For free!!! He even told me what I needed to buy at the hardware store. He was friendly and very competent. This didn't cost me anything but the parts. I finally found a plumber I can trust! Next time he gets my business hands down. No need to look further.

First off - This review is way overdue and I owe MBlaster an apology as they certainly did a great job and deserved my review in a timely manner. Ross was very good to work with right from the beginning. He came out and reviewed the situation - Low water pressure. He checked certain things to see if there were other contributing factors. I had been through all of this already - so I was hopeful he would find something less expensive causing the problem but was not counting on it. In his review Ross provided a number of other helpful suggestions - and how I could take care of them easily myself. Just an overall good guy to work with. We had numerous phone discussions leading up to the day the job was done - preparing what would be needed - permits from the city etc. I had a total of three companies review the situation and provide a bid. As anyone who has contemplated replacing a fresh water line knows - there is a great deal of uncertainty in what will be found and thus how the job will proceed. This was reflected in the intrepedation and pricing I saw from the other plumbers. Regardless, of advertising- its clear to me - not all - and in fact not many plumbers actually have experience replacing a fresh water line to the street. Master Blaster on the other hand - was much more aggressive about their approach - removing much of the uncertainty in the process and providing an estimate ahead of time that was clearly explained and already incorporated certain contingencies in the estimate. The installation proceeded smoothly. I made it a point to stay out of the way but kept my eye on what was happenning at each point throughout the day. The excavation, installation, working with city, and clean up went very well. It was clear I was working with a professional organization. When connecting to my line in the house - the installer noticed an elbow needed in the line - which would allow his connection to perform better. He pointed out this was not something that was part of his plans. He found the part in his collection and installed it. I was not charged additional money for this. - A small thing but still meaningful to me.
Description of Work: New fresh water line installed from house to the street. - 1/2 inch copper run from inside house all the way to the connection in the street. Including installation of a new meter pit.

I have used a lot of plumbers and this is the best plumber in town, bar none! This guy is honest, hardworking and cleans up after himself. The first time I called him, he came out in a blizzard. Most plumbers would have been worried about the drive. He was worried about whether I can flush my toilet. He is very dependable and I will continue to use him in the future.
Description of Work: I hired this company to put in a restaurant sink and look into a leak from a prior company's work. The other company assured me that they can do the work and that I didn't need a plumber. The "other" company did the work all wrong, and that is when I called Master Blaster.

He was exceptional. In fact he told me how to fix it over the phone and saved me about 150 bucks. He walked me through everything I needed to do over the phone because he felt that I could do it on my own and I did. He was terrific. He recommended that I go to Home Depot and rent the snake. He taught me how to do it and told me exactly what to do. I got it done. He didn?t charge me anything for that. His advice and the things that he told me to do worked exactly how he said they would, so his quality was pretty good. He was very responsive and called me within an hour or so after I sent him an email. He was right there to take my calls when I called him a couple of times after that. We are very pleased with the professional services provided by Ross at Master Blaster Plumbing and Warren at Pipe Spies. Both men definitely know what they are doing and do their jobs in a timely manner -- we highly recommend them.
Description of Work: Our home's clay sewage line (installed in 1939) was blocked by tree root growth. Ross cleaned our sewage line and cut out the tree root growth that blocked our line -- total cost $230. Ross also referred us to Warren, at Pipe Spies, who, for an additional cost of $169, used a camera and provided us with a DVD of our clay sewage line that confirmed the tree root blockage that Ross diagnosed and dealt with. Pipe Spies was well worth the additional cost because it provided us with the visual proof that our 1939 sewage line was in great shape in all other respects (besides the root growth) which was a great relief.

Ross came and gave me an estimate after diagnosing the problem. He was quick and competent and even fixed a couple of things that he noticed then(tightened up an outdoor faucet that he noticed leaked a little bit). When he came to do the agreed-on work he was punctual, clean, tidy and very pleasant. He treated me as an intelligent non-plumbing human being and answered my questions well. He worked like a dog a good deal of the day and didn't seem to mind if I watched occasionally. I was very impressed.

When Ross looked at the condition of the plumbing under the sink he asked me to look at what had been done in under my sink (it had just been remodeled 11 months ago). EVERYTHING was LOOSE! The handyman who claimed to be a plumber had not even provide a proper clean-out. Ross gave me an estimate and stuck to it even though after he got into the job, it took a lot more than anticipated. When he completed that job, he went downstairs to my studio and plumbed in a large industrial sink for my studio. His explanation of what it would entail to place the sink where I wanted it led me to change location which saved me a great deal of money. Ross even worked over the weekend to complete the job! HE EVEN CLEANED UP AFTER HE FINISHED!!!!! If you are looking for a true professional who knows what he is doing, if friendly (to my dogs as well) and gives honest value for his work.... look no further.

Ross, the owner, came over the same day that i called and found the problem (the upstairs shower was leaking through the downstairs ceiling) within the first five minutes that he was here. A plumber that we called prior to this charged me $250 and didn't solve the problem, but cut three holes in my ceiling. Ross was not only extremely knowledgable, but a very honest guy. I will recommend him to all of our friends and will definitely use him in the future!
