He was absolutely horrible. It was ridiculous.
Description of Work: They didn't get to the house on time. Then, the guy fiddled around downstairs for an hour or two. He then had to go get a water heater even though he knew we needed one. He took over four hours to replace the water heater.

Response from Master Blaster Plumbing & Drain LLC
Hello Member, 1) Your plumber arrived 45-minutes from the time you called. 2) The 4-hours it took to install your water heater is correct and accurate to the scope of work that was needed and performed. 3) Sending your plumber out to exchange the 40 gal he showed up with for an upgraded 50-gal was your preference. 4) The “fiddled around for an hour or two” you mention was draining your water and retrofitting your pipes and vent to accommodate the upgraded 50-gallon water heater size. 4) A discount of $949. Reading your report while knowing exactly what was needed to provide you the service necessary then knowing exactly what took place regarding your complaints in mention - the only question I have is, what exactly are the real underlined issues? I Ross, President/CEO was personally involved with this call from beginning to end taking your call around noon sending a plumber immediately your way with a 40-gallon water heater arriving at your house 45-Minutes later. I was in contact with your plumber throughout your entire service call until he finished. Your plumber assessed your situation confirming your water heater did in fact need replaced quoting you $2149 ($1789 + $360) under my direction. This price was to upgrade your 40-gal water heater to a 50-gallon advising you that this retrofit would take some time. After 30 minutes discussing pricing you and your plumber you both agreed on a discounted price of $1200 total cost for the installation. Your $949 discount, though agreed upon I was not happy about this - and especially not happy about this now. This alone might you feel better. This is certainly a case of “some people you just can’t satisfy” Best Regards, Ross Whitesel President/CEO

I needed immediate help since its my kitchen sink. They responded immediately. They called about half hour before he came. very efficient and professional. I really appreciated it. and I thought the service was well priced
Description of Work: My garbage disposal had backed up and was spinning uselessly. I had a coupon from Angie's list for Master Plumbers and decided to call them since I couldn't fix it myself. The person that came was conscientious and efficient. (sorry i can't remember his name) He disassembled the pipe to the disposal and cleaned it out. He also repaired the rubber gasket on the drain. It was pretty messy and he cleaned it all up!

We called at around 9:00 AM on Sunday and he arrived within the estimated arrival time at around 10:30AM. He removed the toilet, pointed out a small repair that needed to be done, he offered to do it, but also explained what needed to be replaced so we could do it ourselves if we preferred. He then cleared the pipe all the way to the main sewer line and replaced the toilet. The next day we noticed a slight leak with the toilet and the same person came out on Monday and fixed the problem that was causing the leak. Throughout the whole process they were very professional and on time. We felt the price was very reasonable especially considering they came out on a Sunday of a holiday weekend.
Description of Work: Our sewer backed up and they came out on a Sunday of a holiday weekend and cleared out the pipeline, he had to access it through the toilet. He cleared the pipe all the way to sewer line and replaced the toilet.

Greg in the office called me at work about 45 minutes before the plumber (Manny Garcia) was due to come to my home. Manny showed up slightly ahead of schedule; he quickly assessed the situation, then told me what would need to be done. He very quickly replaced the leaky pipe, all in slightly more than an hour. Manny was very efficient, and I was very impressed with him and Master Blaster itself, and will definitely recommend them to family and friends. I had expected the bill to be much higher than it was, so was thrilled overall by this experience.

in See above. This may all be my fault for not knowing how long my line is, but overall I will stick with the company I have been using for many years. Another case of "you get what you pay for". I might add this for those of you who are going to have a camera run in your line - have them turn on the "locate" feature so that when the line is under your yard and they see a problem area you can go outside and see where it is. I will explain: When they told me I needed a $5000 excavation, we were outside. I asked them where the portion of the line and was directed to a certain place on the sidewalk. In a few days when I had digested what was going on, I called to discuss the matter with the camera guy. It would be his company that would do the work. As you saw mentioned above, he had no referrals. In our discussion I asked him how they knew where the problem line was and he said he had used as a reference an "X" on the sidewalk to locate where the line went into the street. I questioned that because in our neighborhood, the "X" is the property line. I asked him if he could be more accurate and he said that all he had to do was turn on a "locate" feature on the camera. I asked him why he did not do it in the first place he said it was because the sewer cleaner had not asked him to.
Description of Work: I do not know how to fairly rate what happened to me so I am going into detail and let others form their own opinion,. By the way, this is the first time I have not given rave reviews for referrals. I had them clean the sewer (no backups, just preventive) using a Deal for $99. The fine print said that they would only clean the first 100 feet. I assumed this was OK since I never had any problems with the company I usually use. But who knows how long their sewer line is? I live in a modest neighborhood. Man came and did his job. Asked me if I had ever had a camera run in my drain and he quoted a price (which I do not recall). I said OK and a few days later the employee and another man with the camera showed up. I watched as he sent the camera through the system. The camera operator showed me several places where water was standing and he said that was a problem. After a while he came to a nest of roots in the line. I asked why they were still there after the cleanout. The cleaner employee said it was because his line did not reach all the way to the city line. I expressed surprise. He said that my contract only called for a cleanout of the fist 100 feet, and if I wanted him to come back it would be another $150 Anyway, he and the camera operator went outside to talk. They came back and said I needed to spend $5000 to have a section of the line dug up and replaced. After discussions with camera man I decided not to have his company do any work because they had no referrals and had only formed the company recently. I intend to get a second opinion. By the way, I called my regular sewer service company and they said they always use a 110 foot long cleaner. They charge $160. Other problems - tracked dirt into house. Other company puts down runners. Some liquid sprayed onto area around cleanout. Other company puts up a curtain around the worksite.

Everything was explained to me of what the problem was and what it would take to fix it. I was given a cost for this and I accepted the proposal and the Master Blaster Plumber took care of it. He had to snake the lines from my washing machine drain pipe. That was clogged with lint, etc., which was why my sink had been backing up.
Description of Work: laundry room sink was backing up. Master Blasters showed up on time, very friendly and professional. Told me what the problem was and fixed it. Very pleased and would use them again.

My first surprise was when they said that they could make the appointment the same day. After my mistake with my own phone number, they still agreed to come that evening. Joe arrived as planned around 6 PM, with no after hours charges - it wasn't an emergency, but I did want to get this done. As he dug into the work, I became very glad I had a professional to do it, since it ended up involving sweating a copper connection. He fixed it so that the next time (these need replacing every 10 years or so), it will be a much simpler replacement. He was able to use one of the two versions I had purchased and finished up in about 90 minutes. He was very professional, laying out his own work mat and keeping things clean as he went. I then showed him my toilet issue and he discovered a cracked fill pipe that I had not detected - but since he had another appointment (at 8 PM) we made an appointment for the next day. The next day, he arrived with the correct parts, disassembled the tank, replaced ALL the parts (especially the rusty bolts) and the toilet now works great. I definitely recommend Master Blaster and will call them again for plumbing jobs that are over my head.
Description of Work: The Water Pressure Regulator Valve for the main water line in the house was replaced. I am fairly handy, and with an inexpensive pressure meter used at the outside fawcet, determined my water pressure was over 120 psi - the water company recommends around 60 psi. And no amount of adjustment on the old valve made a difference - after 10 years the old one was shot. Some of my neighbors had already replaced theirs, and some had not because their pressure was fine. At Home Depot I had ended up buying two slightly different replacements, because I was unsure which was correct and could take back the wrong one. But after a lot of examination, I was reluctant to break into my main water line and maybe take a day or two to actually fix it. Also, I have been having issues with a toilet that I had repaired but was still leaking. Hence my call to Master Blaster.

The price was very reasonable and it was $4100. We had about 30 feet of back yard he had to go through. What really impressed me was that he was out here every day until the work was done checking on things, even though he had hired a separate crew to dig and all of that stuff. He made sure everything got done right. The crew had a couple of different things like the TV line and stuff that was damaged and he made sure someone came out and repaired them immediately, so we were completely impressed with him. There was a blizzard in the middle of the work and he knocked a $1000 off the price because of the delays. We also used them for some more different little plumbing problems throughout the house because when somebody was building their house through a hole they threw a pipe with nails and stuff. He came out and went through the whole house with us and told us about ways of how to prevent future damage and helped us identify things that we did not see as plumbing problems. He was wonderful and we got it all fixed up.

They did a pretty good job. The brought in a huge front end loader to fix the problem. They did it fast. My only problem was that there was no communication pretty much at all. Once they got the credit card number, they did the job and left and didn’t even say goodbye at all. They dug up some sprinkler piping and left that in the yard so clean up was not very good.
Description of Work: Where sewer comes into the house, the line that comes in is PVC and that had sunk in the yard. They had to raise that up so it would flow smoothly. They had to dig about a 6 foot hole. They came very quickly to fix the problem.

On 12/5 a pipe in our bathroom froze. It was in the middle of a snowstorm, but I called Master Blaster & they had Manny at my door within three hours. Manny examined the pipes, and said because of the construction materials used, he couldn't thaw them, but that we would have to wait until they de-thawed. He walked me through the process I would have to follow, which was rather complicated. Then, because he wasn't able to help, he declined to charge me anything. Later that evening, as I was putting his recommendations in place, it got confusing. I called the dispatch center, and they not only walked me through the process again, but even got online to try & discover more information on my particular plumbing setup, tried to call the water heater manufacturer on my behalf, and conferenced in Manny from another job, then stayed on the line while I went into the basement to try and implement all this. Then, two weeks later, we had Manny come out again to look at the water heater due to possible mis-installation on the builder's part. Manny examined it and talked us out of the money Excel had recommended we spend on changes to the water heater setup. He explained in detail how he could do the job, but also explained in detail why he thought we would just be wasting our money. I appreciated his honesty, and will not hesitatae to call Master Blaster again when & if I have more plumbing needs.

I had them over and it actually turned out to be a really crummy experience. My husband called and complained and said they would fix it for $350. We said "Excuse me?" and they dropped it to $250. Then they dropped it to $180 and we said "Excuse me?" again. They dropped $200 in just a few minutes. My husband called and eventually got the CEO of the company on the phone. He sent out his top plumber to fix everything for free because of our bad experience. I had a really good experience with them, not the first time around, but they ended up fixing both of our bathrooms and not just the one. I would say that they have excellent customer service and very good management.

It was sort of a medium experience with the company. The work was okay for the most part, but one problem I had was that all of their crews were subcontracted and there was only one English speaking person on the crew. When I asked them when they laid the sewer out to the input in the main line, I asked them to make it a certain height and it didn't happen. I think it was because of their language skills.
Description of Work: I used them a couple of years ago to put in a new well in the basement. They dug up my sewer line and replugged the sewer line between the washer and the main drain. Then they put a new sewer line from the house outside to the street.

I came home from work on Wednesday evening and found I had no hot water. When I walked into the livingroom, I also found that the pilot in the gas fireplace was also out, but I did still have the furnance which was the necessity at that point. A friend came and lite both applicances the following evening after work. As soon as he drove out of the driveway and I came back into the house, they were both out again. The following morning because of my concern and being unaware of where to turn, my friend looked at Angie's List and suggested I call Master Blaster Plumbing which I did. The dispatcher was extremely nice and helpful (I didn't get his name). He told me from what I had described that it sounded like a gas pressure issue to the house, and he said he could send someone out, but he suggested I call Xcel to avoid a service cal, which I appreciated. I spoke to a lady who said she would put in a service call. The Xcel repairman was supposed to call me so I could meet him at my house. I had left my desk for a brief time, and when I came back, I had a message. The repairman had been to the house. He said the pressure was fine, that I needed to call a repair company. I again asked if he knew why both applicances would be going out at the same time, he told me that did sound suspicious. He further went on to say he was busy with real gas issues, and didn't have time to go back. He told me if I was still concerned or if I thought there were additional problems, that I should call in another service call to Xcel. He went on to tell me he didn't know if he could get back out to my house before the end of the day, as he was busy. This was a Friday. I said fine, I would call it back in. My prior home was a new purchase and the gas fireplace was installed incorrectly which emitted carbon monoxide back into my home, so I was very concerned about another gas issue. After I called Xecl back, I also decided to call Master Blaster back and see if they could put me in at the end of the day in case I didn't hear back from Xcel. The dispatcher said I don't want you to wait, I'm going to send someone out there right away. He said it was his top person in this field. Manny came out and looked at the hot water heater. He found that indeed the gas was fluctuating into the house. He did also find that the thermocouple was very close to burning through which would have required another service call. He asked me if I wanted him to do that while he was there. I said yes. When he was leaving to go get the part, he met the Xcel repairman. He told him the gas pressure was fluctuating, and he started to challenge him. Manny said he could come and look at the testing meter himself if he would like. Needless to say, the Xcel man finally changed the gas meter which was at fault. All of the gas applicances now stay lite, including the furnace. If Manny wouldn't have been there to convice the Xcel repairman that the meter was indeed the problem, I probably would have been without hot water the rest of the weekend until I could have gotten someone back out. Manny was extremely courteous, professional and explained everything to me. I felt very comfortable with him and am extremely confident in his work. In fact, he even told me to feel free to call if anything should arise, which I knew it wouldn't. I would highly recommend Manny Garcia and Master Blaster Plumbing & Drain any time and intend to do so. They listened to me and knew there was a problem. Service provided for Judy A.
Description of Work: Manny Garcia came out to my house to find out why the pilot on my hot water heater and my fireplace went going out at the same time. He found that the gas pressure into the house was fluctuating, which required Xcel to change the meter. After diagnostic testing he also found that the thermocouple was almost worn out. So, he replaced that part for me saving me another service call in the near future.

.After noticing the leak in my ceiling, I called MasterBlasters right away expecting to make an appointment with them for the next day. However Joe came right over to my house, found the problem in my ceiling and, needing parts, suggested we wait until the next morning so he could get the items he needed. He temporarily stopped the leak that night, then promptly returned the next morning at 9 am and replaced the broken section of pipe that was causing the problems. On Saturday night he professionally told me their charges, what he would have to do and how he was going to do it. After all was done (close to 3 hours of work counting his visit on Saturday night), he charged me for 2 hours of work that was very professionally and skillfully done. Joe was not only very professional, and a skilled plumber, but was extremely personable. We were able to talk about football the whole time he was repairing my pipe. P.S. He knows his football as well as he does his plumbing. :)
Description of Work: I developed a leak in my basement bedroom ceiling on a Saturday night. Joe from MasterBlasters came out at 8 pm that evening to check it out.
