Joe from Master Blaster is the best! He was prompt, courteous and patient with all our questions. Being first time home owners we really were clueless. I would definitely have him work on our plumbing again if needed.
Description of Work: We just moved into our new home and the garbage disposal made a strange noise and stopped working. Joe from Master Blaster came and fixed our problem. It was just a jam - but we didn't know. He was able to fix it without replacing it.

bad experience and a waste of money
Description of Work: Purchased an Angie's List deal for a drain cleaning service from this company. Printed off the coupon and thencalled the compnay to schedule the service call. It was scheduled for just a few days out. When the service tech arrived and we told him we had a coupon purchased from Angies list. He immediately told us that the coupon only covers the cost of the travel to get to your house. We told him this is not what the coupon says, and told him to leave and we would seek a refund. He then came back shortly later to our house and said he had it wrong. He did perform a some sort of "service" that took all of 5 minutes and said nothing was clogged and the toilet is fine. Sure enough, we tried flushing it later that day and once again it backed up on us from a clog.

They were okay but they were a bit pricey. I think their prices are a little high. I don’t have the information about their charges right now with me. The quote for installing a toilet turned out to be really expensive.

The hot water heater was leaking at the faucet. We're able to fix it ourselves, but just didn't have the time and we wanted it fixed sooner then later. When I called, I asked them about any Angie's list customer offers. I was quoted a $19.99 trip charge for Angie customers. They said they could give it to me directly. So, based on this and their rating, I made the appointment, which was to be the next day. Mater Blaster Plumbing called about an hour later and said they could not honor the $19.99 service call because they realized that we live outside the E470 corridor. I was taken back a bit because they should have looked at my address and told me when I first called. So, that was an oversight on their part that I feel they should have honored. But, I was willing to let it go and pay a bit higher. What I wasn't prepared for was the trip charge going from $19.99 to at least $120.00!!!! We don't live in Colorado Springs or in the mountains. We live in Roxborough near the shopping center (not in the park area). We aren't that far from 470 that warrant " at least $120.00." From $19.99 to at least $120.00 is ridiculous and it's poor customer service to not offer a middle ground, which I would have been opened to. They didn't even offer a compromise. I'm involved in two businesses myself so I know about making a mistake that favors the customer. We suck it up and fix the mistake even if it costs more on our end. We want happy customers who we can develop a long-term relationship with and will come back to buy our product and recommend us. This is also the kinds of businesses I want to give my money to.
Description of Work: I didn't get a chance to experience their service. Just made a call for an appointment to fix a leak at faucet on the hot water tank. I was quoted one price for the trip charge then they called back and quoted me a much higher trip charge.

Master Blaster provided an excellent experience from start to finish. The repair work was done quickly with the possibility of future work clearly identified. I'd highly recommend them for the small jobs as well major installations of new house drains.
Description of Work: Tod from Master Blaster was quick to respond with several service appointments. His team ran a cable camera through my house drain access points to diagnose and locate blockages in the outside drain lines leading to the city sewer. Beyond the usual diagnostic tools, Tod also used his intuitive professional experience to further identify the drains' path through the yard to the alley. His team was completely knowledgeable in outlining the possible repairs indicated. Tod and crew were excellent!

The plumber was very courteous and professional. I just can't help thinking that I was unfairly charged an hour's labor for what was a 15 minute job. The refrigerator deliverers and "installers" from Lowe's refused to hook the refrigerator to the copper connection because of liability of any future leaks or breakage of the copper pipe. So I thought I needed a professional to make certain things were done right. I purchased the Master Plumbing $19 travel coupon and made an appointment, telling Master Plumbing the sole purpose of the trip. An appointment was scheduled (they left a message on my phone to move the appointment back an hour). The plumber arrived on schedule and assessed the job and told me the hourly fee. I accepted the terms (and wish I wouldn't have) and don't deal with plumbers everyday but am I unrealistic to expect a price break for a simple job that clearly was not a full hour's worth of labor? Add in their usual trip fee of $60 my fee would have been $246. Despite being satisfied with the job performed I would try another plumber the next time and ask more questions up front.
Description of Work: I needed to have my water hooked up to a new refrigerator. The copper pipe was already installed and had been hooked up to our old refrigerator.

Outstanding experience! From the initial evaluation until cleanup was completed after the installation. Peter and Alonzo completed the initial evaluation, including using a camera to view the length of the existing line along with assessing the depth of the existing line using their instruments. Alonzo was the supervisor for the actual work; everyone I worked with was professional, knowledgeable, and delivered what was promised in the timeframe proposed. They made sure my sprinkler system was repaired if needed, and worked before they left. This was one of the best home maintenance experiences I have ever had!

I brought him into the master bath and showed him the toilet and then brought him down to the basement where the leak was coming down. He noticed the pipe leading to the toilet wasn't sealing properly so he suggested replacing it. It has worked well ever since.
Description of Work: The plumber was a very personable guy. I got along with him great. I invited him in, he diagnosed the problem and took care of the issue. I think their standard service fee seemed a little high, but I was pleased with the service overall. The water connection to the master toilet was leaking which was leading down to the basement. He discovered the issue and replaced the pipe along with the valve (at my request).

Hello Member, Thank you for putting aside the time submit a report on our service. I did talk to the veteran plumber that provided your service. I have a sewer line that is beginning to deteriorate and part of the old clay piping needs to be replaced. I joined Angie's List to find a few companies with stellar reviews so I could request 2-3 estimates before I paid to have the work done. Master Blaster Plumbing & Drain LLC was one of the companies that stood out to me based upon all the glowing reviews. Much to my disappointment, my experience in trying to get an estimate has been terrible. I called the main number on June 20, 2012 and spoke to Tarese, she took all my information and advised an Excavation Supervisor would be in touch to schedule time to come to my home and do what needed to be done to get an estimate. On Friday, June 22, 2012, Peter called me and confirmed he would be handling my estimate and that someone would be at my house on Monday or Tuesday of the following week. An entire week went by without any type of confirmation that anyone had come by or that an estimate was being prepared. I called the main line again on Monday, July 2, 2012 and spoke with Tarese again. She looked up my information and had Peter call me. He called and admitted that my request had been lost while he was in New York and no one had followed up to see if my estimate was being done. Peter also assured me that he would be to my home FIRST thing on Tuesday, July 3, 2012 to take a look at what needed to be done to replace my sewer line and would call me. By 3:00 pm on July 3, 2012, I had not heard anything from Peter. I called him, his voice mail box was full. However, he called me back since I work for the bank he uses thinking I was calling about his account. When he called, I had to go through my story AGAIN and answer the same questions I had answered on two other occasions before he recalled his commitment to me. He then stated he had several emergencies today and could be to my house by 5:00 today. I told him to not worry about going to my house, that if it took three weeks and this much of my own effort to get an estimate, I was not interested in doing business with Master Blaster at all. So, I am on to researching other companies to ensure I get a fair quote with a company that will want my business and I will not have to do all the follow up on my own. Very underwhelmed with Master Blaster, especially since there are so many good reviews. Shocked and disappointed.

Hello Member, No excuses here and yes this was a time when we were unusually busy while having Pete himself also overwhelmed before he left to New York. I'm sure you can agree after missing your appointment window nothing might set well with regardless. For this I do apologize. Though Pete did go out of his way to stop by in person to apologize It was clear with the unfriendly welcome our efforts to redeem ourselves were not appreciated. This will be the last you here from us unless you can accept our sincere apologies allowing us to redeem ourselves. Just a note, when considering the value of a company for service, how a mistake is handled is just as important as any other value consider. Another-words always consider how will you be taken care of not IF but WHEN a company makes a mistake. Sincerely Ross Whitesel President/CEO

As far as the service call went, it turned out great. They worked with us to figure out the best time for an appointment, and they showed up when they said they would. In that regard, they were very responsive. As a result of the service call, it turns out we need to have some work done which seemed to be extremely high priced. That was the only down side. The service call was great.

The bid from Master Blasters was $209.00 for a "re-do" on 3 leaky toilets. That was IF he could get all the parts necessary for the re-do that was never fully explained. They might have to order them and that would be more money.Or he said we could buy 3 new toilets and they would install them for $300. each and it would probably 'take all day to install them". My husband laughed when he say the estimate, went to Home Depot, found all necessary parts. The fill valve cost $10 and the flapper cost $8.00. It took approximately 1 1/2 hours to complete all 3 toilets. I would call this fraud, but I unfortunately did not keep my copy of the estimate. These guys are complete rip offs and I am wondering why I even joined Angies List?

The events: 06/21/12: Thursday (at my house for 2-2:30 hours)The technician (Joe) showed up around 11:30 AM on 06/21/12. It was apparant that he was unfamiliar working on the water heater when I went to check on his progress and he was on the phone with the manufacturer having them walk him through "how to fix the issue" via phone. When he left that night, he charged me $200.00 and told me that he was not sure he corrected the issue, and to call him if he did not. He also mentioned that he did not understand the directions that the manufacturer was giving him via phone. 06/22/12: Friday MorningWe discovered he had no hot water at 7:00 AM. The same error code had been thrown, and was able to go reset the hot water heater. (apparant Joe did not fix the problem). Called Master Blaster to come back. 06/22/12: Friday Afternoon (at my house for 4 hours)The technician (Joe) arrived back at my house around 2:00 PM. Again, he called the manufacturer back to try and "locate the problem". After 2.5 hours of trying to fix the problem, he called in another co-worker to help him. The second technitian showed up at my house around 4:30-4:45 PM. At 6:00 PM, they both informed me of the following. 1. My hot water heater no longer worked (it would not even turn on) 2. They "tried" to order what they felt to be the correct part, only to have put the claim into my warranty company for an incorrect part. (which they informed me they could do nothing about). Please note that the (incorrect) part they ordered did not arrive until 06/29/12...7 days later! 3. They recommended I get a brand new water heater 4. Informed me they "thought" the manufactuer was sending out their own technician but was not certain 5. Left my house Friday evening, leaving my family without hot water, and NO resolution. 06/25/12: Monday MorningI called the office manager first thing in the morning to find out what was going on. After a few hours, I received a call back, informing me that he had set up an appointment with the rep for my water heater (a company which was NOT part of Master Blasters) - and that they would NOT pay for the additional service of this new company. 06/26/12: Tuesday MorningRod from TM Sales, Inc. showed up at my house. In 45 minutes I had hot water. Rod replaced 3 of the 4 parts that the Master Blaster employee broke on my water heater (one of the items was cosmetic and so he used "duct tape"). In addition - the INITIAL PROBLEM WAS THAT I HAD MOTHS BLOCKING THE OUTSIDE VENTS. Once Rod cleaned out the moths...I no longer recieved my error code.
Description of Work: The service call was for a State water heater. That was only 2.5 years old. We were receiving an error code indicating that there was lint/dust was the issue. At the time of the call, my water heater was working. Occasionally, the water heater would "trip", give us the afore mentioned error code, we would go reset the water heater, and everything would be fine. The technician that showed up broke 4 parts our water heater and left us without hot water for an entire four days. I ended up paying for their mistake - as a second company was called to fix what they broke as well as my initial problem.

Hello Member, I'm truly sorry how the turn of events unfolded here, no excuses. I'm sure the refund I placed in your mail box will not remove the bad taste in your mouth. I also understand not taking my call when we agreed. I do sincerely thank you for the report you submitted. This has been eye opener regarding specialty water heater training classes needed for ones such as yours. This has been address and will not happen again. ***July 1, 2012 update: Master Blaster came out to properly fix the original plumbing issue, no questions asked. They also tested their fix to ensure it was done properly and thoroughly. Therefore, I have updated my overall rating of the company. I would have preferred the right thing done at the start, but I am very grateful they fixed the issue at no additional cost to me. Thanks. June 29th original review: I needed two repairs performed- a swamp cooler startup, and a main/secondary clean out to undo a blockage that also required a pipe to be capped off. I was quoted $210 for a swamp cooler startup, and $280 for the main/secondary clean out and capping of a secondary pipe. I called Master Blaster to come out and give me an estimate, so that I could compare with two other plumbing services. They did not tell me beforehand that there was a non-refundable charge for the estimate (however, it was applicable to the actual repair...but typically the purpose of an estimate is to get more than one and then decide...no other company charged me for an estimate). Then, when they came out to actually do the work, they did not have a long enough ladder and could not get on the roof to startup the swamp cooler. It was the hottest day of my life (over 100F), so I was not happy to hear this. I had to wait 4 days for a startup, and ended up calling another company who ended up being cheaper anyway. So, they could only perform one of the two services. And, the one service that was performed was not even finished- the guy said that he didn't have a pipe cap and that I would have to buy one and install it. The cap was only $4 at Home Depot, but I'm not sure it fits correctly, so it will take me a few trips back and forth to figure out which one is the right one. I expect that when I have a service/repair done, that it be done to COMPLETION. I am living on my own right now, while my husband is stuck in Ireland trying to immigrate over here. When I hire someone to do something, I expect it to be done properly and thoroughly. I feel that this is a reasonable expectation, don't you? So, to summarize--- I was not told of the estimate fee until when the guy came and already did the estimate, and then I was informed of the $60 fee.-- The estimate was obviously not thorough, because it did not specify that the swamp cooler was on the roof (i.e., the need for a ladder), and it also did not specify all of the parts required.-- So, I paid for an estimate that was not thorough or accurate.-- Then, I had a miserable weekend with no cool air, and had to wait for the startup. So, instead of wasting my time once to have someone come out, I had to arrange for 2 separate times to wait around for someone (i.e., time off work for the second time).-- And now I get to try and find the right cap, while there is a moisture problem in the meantime and I will have to cut the drywall away and throw it out so I don't get black mold. Awesome guys, thanks. So, based on my experience, I would not call them again. There are other companies that provide a better service. On a positive note, the appointment taker was good about scheduling and communication.
Description of Work: I needed two repairs performed- a swamp cooler startup, and a main/secondary clean out to undo a blockage that also required a pipe to be capped off. I was quoted $210 for a swamp cooler startup, and $280 for the main/secondary clean out and capping of a secondary pipe, for a total of about $500 for both services.

Manny was terrific. He helped me diagnose the problem on a leaking sink overflow drain and a broken tub drain. I bought the hardware myself for the repairs, and he came back and fixed the issues in a reasonable amount of time. The hourly rate did seem expensive, but I have not had a lot of experience with plumbers so I'm not sure how to compare it. The company was able to schedule me in quickly both times I've called. I would certainly use them again.
