Overall, it went very well. Eric was very knowledgeable and easy to work work with. The office called before the appointment to let me know of any updates to the schedule. I'm very pleased to have the problem solved so quickly and easily.
Description of Work: The laundry drain had been backing water into the nearby shower. Eric provided down to earth advice on possible reasons and in the end it was the simplest to resolve: a partial blockage in the laundry drain. Eric snaked the laundry drain. He also did the main line as a preventative measure.

On the day of the initial repair, the plumber replaced the old toilet with the new toilet seemingly with no issues. Shortly after installation we noticed that the interior water pipes were rattling with pipe hammer and was very loud. A few weeks passed and I called the plumber early in the week and scheduled an appointment the ensuing Thursday for a two hour window between 1-3pm. Unfortunately the plumber did not show and I was told the appointment didn't make it to the schedule. I rescheduled the appointment for Saturday and was told the plumber would show up at my house at 11:00am on the dot as the first appointment for the inconvenience of missing Thursday. Unfortunately this did not happen. At 11:30 I received a call from the dispach inicating the plumber would was running because he was at another costumers house but would definitely be at our house before 1:00pm. At 1:15 still no plumber, so I called dispatch and was rudely told "I told you he was running late, he's on the road, should be there any minute". One hour and 15 minutes later the plumber showed up. Just before the plumber showed up I called to say that I could no longer wait, and that I needed to run out. The dispatcher had the nerve to tell me I would be subject to the service charge if I "canceled" the appointment. I asked to speak to a manager and was told there was none available. The dispacher was incredibley rude, unprofessional and lacked the type of customer services I woud expect. At one point she asked me if I was a "paying costumer" almost to imply that the issue they caused was a lower priority that new clients. When the plumber finally arrived he looked at our issue and actually laughed, "this is really bad, I've never seen anything like this"... And then handed me a quote for $450 worth of repairs. All in all, this company lacks professionalism and I would expect much more given their high ratings on Angies List. They are very high priced and don't seem to have the "can do" attitude. If you like unprofessional plumbers that lack professionalisim and are over priced, these are definitely the plumbers for you.

Thank you for your review, Firstly let me apologize for any negativity you received from our dispatching staff. Please be aware this has been addressed and we appreciate your feedback. Anytime a customer has an issue please feel free to call 303-761-1211 or email service@masterblasterplumbing.com. Our goal at Master Blaster is to provide outstanding customer service. I can not make any excuses about what happened with our dispatching only that we will analyze the issue. Then take steps to improve. No customer should ever be spoken in this way. Nor is it ok for our Technicians to be late. To be fair it is also not ok mistreat service people who are attempting to help. However it is understood by our experienced staff that having a plumbing problem is frustrating. We do try to set up jobs with ample time to drive from one place to another. However we do have a small staff and plumbing jobs can take longer than planned sometimes. We do our best not to overbook so each customer is given as much time as needed before we move on. I did want to elaborate on the potential issue with the piping in this house. From the descriptions in this report and talking to the plumbers who diagnosed the problem I can explain why there was a new quote. When a home is supplied with water from any city the pressure will fluctuate. For example as a city grows many times a pumping station will be added to keep pressure up at the farthest areas. When a home is close to a station like this pressure can become very high. This is just one example of how pressure becomes elevated and there are other causes. The effects are the same, pipes rattle and bang when valves are opened and closed. You may ask how does this apply to a toilet replacement? The explanation that comes to mind is that when the old toilet was in place sediment had built up in the fill valve. The partially clogged valve was now helping to regulate pressure. When the new toilet was installed the fill valve was nice and clear. This allowed the pre-existing condition to show itself. I do recommend having a PRV or Pressure Reducing Valve installed as soon as possible. This device can compensate for most high pressure situations. There are several reasons to have these installed among them the most important is 1. vibrations on copper water supply pipe with soldered joints can leak. 2. Most fixtures (faucets, toilets, etc) are only rated for 55 to 65 psi. To all readers feel free to call for water pressure testing if you feel a similar situation is taking place in your home.

Bottom line is that we believe we were WAY overcharged. Early in the week, we ordered service for a two toilets, one of which was running a leak that was damaging the ceiling of the bathroom below. We could not get service for several days, which should have tipped us off to problems. When the assigned day came, a Friday, they called and postponed to the following Monday. (Another tip off?) When the plumber arrived on Monday, we described the problems with the two toilets---a leak in one and water running in the other. The plumber fixed the leak but not the second toilet. When we discovered the oversight, we called back, and the plumber paid a return visit. The work on these two toilets was relatively minimal and the need for the return visit was the plumber's fault, but we received bills for two separate visits. The total was, to say the least, very steep.

The plumber came on time and cleaned out our drain in about a half hour. He was very pleasant and did a great job. We have had no issues at all with the drain. I would definitely recommend them again. The only thing you need to know if you use the coupon is that the company will not call you to set up the appointment as stated on this website; you need to call them to set up the appointment.

At my request, they came to service my toilet which was constantly running and making noise. They replaced the inner workings of the toilet and at the very end said, "This may not fix it, if not you will have to replace the toilet and I can do that for an additional $350 if you buy the toilet." It would have been nice to know that fixing it was not the best option before I spent $236.53 on a fix that he had no confidence in.

Requested plumber come out to inspect floor drain in my 60 year old home before I attached a humidifier drainage tube to it. The service provider looked through the grate and told me it was probably broken and recommended replacing, and provided an estimate for approx $3000. He did not even bother to take the cover off the drain to inspect completely. I have since determined the drain is functioning properly, and am glad I didn't take the advice of this supposed professional.

I can certainly understand a response like this to a professional opinion of this kind. Perhaps this is a good opportunity to share a common troubleshooting method among professionals from many disciplines. That is asking questions and listening to responses, for plumbing this is much more important and with issues we are not there to witness was have to rely on information we gather from residents. For many experienced plumbers a few questions can lead to an effective game plan for resolution. One issue I am aware of when dealing with a condensate line that is draining into a floor drain for several years is an erosion of the trap. Condensate from a furnace for example can be corrosive and over several years in combination with subtle ground movement the bottom of the floor drain may no longer be there. In my experience they can become filled with a sandy substance which may be cleared by cabling with lots of effort and possible damage to equipment. A replacement is a real alternative because if cabling does not return the results desired or only offered a temporary flow then the problem can be much worse. After doing some research on the actual estimate to replace this floor drain it does appear the numbers provided by the customer were not accurate. We do wish to address any issues our customers have. Please feel free to contact us with any questions service@masterblasterplumbing.com

Two old, non-standard external faucets had to be replaced. Because they were so old, the plumber had to go to a local True Value to get replacements - nothing in his truck even came close. Then, when he tried to remove the second one, the pipe broke - INSIDE the wall! So he had to go back for pipe. I do not blame the plumber for these things - this is an old house, and was pretty non-standard even when it was new. In replacing the pipe, the plumber also insulated the portion of pipe that stuck out of the wall, without being asked. He also positioned the new faucets in a much better way, making them much easier to use. In short, he was courteous, professional, and never so much as blinked at the various problems as they came up, just got them fixed. My only complaint is that the $66 discount I had purchased from Angie's list apparently did not apply to the service performed . On top of which, the price was a little high. However, knowledgeable, professional plumbers are getting very hard to find. I will definitely be calling them back. I just won't buy any more "discount coupons"...

Was having issue with toilet running and making noise. Had them out to confirm what my problem was. Did confirm the problem was a bad flappers on 2 toilets. Said they could do a "partial re-build" for $350 total. Went to home depot myself and bought new flappers for $6 each. Took 5 minutes. Problem solved. Saved $337.

Member your comments on this service call are appreciated. It is regrettable you did not have a good experience with Master Blaster Plumbing & Drain I hope that you will allow us another chance in the future. We do our best to be upfront with pricing and your integrity of rejecting the estimate rather than having work done and attempting to negotiate price after the job is done is a credit to your character. Anytime you need confirmation on a plumbing issue please feel free to call or email us. We will do our best to get you the answers you need. For Angie's members reading this response we invite you to call or email also with any questions. There are some things to keep in mind when you are troubleshooting your own toilet. I have found during my time spent repairing these fixtures, that the flappers can become curled up on the edges over time. Many homes that do not have filters or other method of prevention do built up minerals which can cause the ball cock to become stuck. I have seen them cause problems where they stick in the closed position and the toilet tank does not refill. I have seen them stick in the open position where the tank does not ever stop filling. On occasion I have witnessed them operating intermittently, those of you who hear the toilet flush every 10 minutes know what I am talking about. The point of sharing that information is to be clear that the minimum work we can offer on a rebuild is replacement of fill valve and flapper. To perform this service on 2 toilets with parts the offer is than fair. I suggest getting quotes from similar companies to Master Blaster to get a true idea of what we are bringing to the community. Of course if you have the ability to make repairs yourself, if that is the case I take my hat off to you sir and please make use of our offer to call or use email with any questions.

There were a few minor inconveniences and issues with the job itself, but I don't have huge issues with the work which was performed. I'm glad I had a ladder that Master Blaster could use, along with an extension cord, and some soapy water, since they didn't have those things and needed them to perform the job. In addition, when they finished the job I had some clean-up to do, they got some paint on my door, they didn't replace the cover of our fireplace (which was a bit of an issue with a toddler running around and only my wife at home), and they failed to light the pilot on our hot water heater when they finished the job (so I had to venture to my basement at 5am dressed in a suit and after taking a cold shower, so my family would have warm water on a very cold day). All of these were inconveniences that led to B grades in the categories of the work performed (instead of A's). They did get the job done though, so I didn't have a real issue with the work itself. However, the biggest complaint that I have is the cost, which is an issue with Master Blaster (the company). I knew it was going to cost some, but I feel I was grossly overcharged. When I asked for a quote over the phone and/or from the technician, I was never told that their hourly rate was $209 per hour. $209 per hour! That would equate to a $435K salary! My doctor and lawyer don't charge me that much! After the job was finished, I called around some more, and found out that independent licensed plumbers charge closer to $100 per hour, which is much more realistic. So while I was told initially that the work was going to cost $836 for labor, I wasn't told that the estimate was only for 4 hours of work (they made it seem like it was a really big issue, which led me to think the $836 estimate for labor was more like 8 hours). Halfway through the job, they had to tack on another hour to the estimate, which is where I saw Master Blaster's hourly charge of $209. So in the end, I paid $1,045 in labor for a 5 hour job (that probably took a bit less than 5 hours). When you add on the service charge of $60, that's over $1,100 for 5 hours of labor. I didn't have a big issue with the $400 in parts (they probably marked those up some, but that's not a huge deal to me as that's expected). But over $1,100 in labor for 5 hours of work is a lot. I will NEVER use Master Blaster again. Next time, I'll ask around for an Independent Licensed Plumber, and find a much more reasonable hourly rate. Because any plumber could have done the work that Master Blaster performed (and maybe someone else would have even lighted my pilot light so I didn't have to take a cold shower). But they definitely wouldn't have charged me so much money. It's a shame that Master Blaster showed up first on my Angie's List, just because they're a corporation versue individuals. I won't make that mistake again.
Description of Work: I had a small hole in a gas line that I had stopped (with steel putty), but I wanted a more professional fix and repair, so the entire section of the line needed to be replaced.

All of us at Master Blaster Plumbing & Drain would like to thank you for your review. The points you have made will be addressed within our company. We always regret to hear that a customer has had a bad experience with us. There are a few things that may make you feel better about the pricing. Typically each plumber on a job will cost $129.50 per hour. There were 2 plumbers on this work site for 5 hours which would equal $2,072.00 before materials cost. The actual invoice cost was $1517.18 which saved you $554.82 on labor cost alone. Regrettably that is only a justification of the pricing and not the other problems. Our field technicians are instructed to work as cleanly as possible in notably one of the dirtiest industries. We will always do our best to clean up after every job and to leave things as they were found. Sometimes there are oversights and we will not make excuses simply attempt to correct the problem. We sincerely hope if you have a plumbing problem in the future you will give us another opportunity to prove ourselves. Please feel free to call us anytime with comments, concerns or questions. We also offer an email for your use or anyone who has a question for us thats service@masterblasterplumbing.com

He did not get back to us as promised with a bid for work he recommended (up to $10,000) to replace pipes he said were very damaged. Upon review of video he provided the problems were minor and we actually needed to just a few pipe replaced. Even with that work, it could awhile (2 years), I was disappointed that he did not follow through and recommended very expensive work. I would not call them again.

Kitchen sink was draining very slowly and leaking from drain pipes under the sink. The plumber snaked the drain and removed the grease that was clogging the pipe. He showed me where the plumbing had two right angle turns that appeared to be the location of the clog and explained how the plumbing could be altered to make the angles less sharp. No pressure, just information. He resealed the pipes under the sink and cleaned up after himself.

It was a great experience. Eric came over on time and ready to work. I did not have a problem with anything but the cost. It was a set amount without regard to the time actually worked. It did take longer than I expected but i still had sticker shock. I asked what the coupon applied to and was told that it covered him coming to my house whereas I had expected the value of the coupon to be deducted from the bill. It made me feel like the coupon had no value.

I had previously used Master Blaster when my water main broke! I did not know I had a water main break; I only knew that my water heater was shaking loudly and my sprinkler system control was gushing water. A disaster. I called Denver Water, and they came looked at things and had nothing to say except they could turn off the water. I called my sprinkler guys and they suggested I rely on a good plumber, not Denver Water. Master Blaster came and they examined the problem. They explained everything that had happened by pointing evidence on my front lawn. They explained what they were going to do and gave me a price, which I later found was completely competitive and reasonable. They worked neatly, without damaging my lawn. They kept their work area small. In a couple of hours, they had pulled a new copper pipe through my old galvanized and lead (!!) pipe, to completely upgrade and fix my water main. I was very happy with Master Blaster and would recommend them wholeheartedly for small and large jobs.
Description of Work: I needed to have a new shower head and detachable shower installed. The Master Blaster plumber arranged to come the day after I purchased the item, he was right on time, and did the work in short order, neatly and properly. He deducted my Angie's List coupon for a "service call" from the full cost of the installation, and the final price was very fair.

I called this company because they were so highly rated on Angie's Listed. We had a musty/bad smell coming from the plumbing in our bathroom and we needed someone to explain to us what the options were for troubleshooting the problem (e.g. scoping the pipes, etc). After telling us someone would be there in half an hour (which was a pleasant surprise), the guy showed up after an hour and a half. The guy then walked in and said he couldn't really smell very well and had no idea what the problem could be. After 20 minutes on the phone with someone, he had some suggestions to smoke test the pipes or scope with a camera. That was helpful, but the cost was very high ($800 for a smoke test, $79 to scope with a camera, which was probably reasonable). The guy was nice enough but did not seem to know what he was doing and the responsiveness from the company overall was disappointing.

Response from Master Blaster Plumbing & Drain LLC
We can certainly understand how annoying an odor problem can be. Everyone at Master Blaster Plumbing want to ensure a good customer experience. Please accept our apologies for failing to deliver that and we would like to do what we can to correct this. I think its important to know, firstly that you are not alone. Many people have called in with similar problems. We have even invested in equipment to help diagnose these types issues. I would also like to share with you, Ann and anyone else reading this report that there can be many causes for unwanted odors. From mold to cracks in vent pipe and it is a good idea to get professional help in diagnosing these problems. Adding to the difficulty some of these issues are not easily identified as they are hidden behind walls. Many of these do not emit a continuous odor making them more difficult to locate. The Plumber on site did call into the office to make check on the options available for this situation. The services offered are Camera Inspections and Smoke tests. When mold issues are suspected there are Specialized Remediation companies which we work closely with and can refer you to directly. Of course our plumbers are experts in making repairs once all the problems are found.

When I called it was almost an emergency because the sewage was overflowing out the vent pipes on to my lawn. I had contacted several other companies and Master Blaster answered right away and had some one at my door in less then one hour. The two guys were very professional and really cared about solving my problem. They spent an hour or so cleaning out my super blocked main line. They had to use a 3 inch blade to cut through the roots that had grown in the line. They fixed my problem and were very clean and left no mess which I feel that is amazing. They also advised me of a product to get to help with the roots which was nice.
Description of Work: Cleaned out our main sewer line and cleared it of all the roots and debris.

There was confusion on the window of time that the technician was to arrive. I requested 8-10 am and received email confirmation prior to the appt. I specifically requested that window as I knew there were multiple issues to be addressed and had to take someone to a doctor's appt at 1. At 10 am I was just about to call when a woman called to tell me that the technician would be there at 11. When i mentioned that the appt time was for 8-10 am, she was adamant that this was incorrect (despite my having email proof). No apology for any miscommunication. I do understand that mix-ups and miscommunication can happen, but an apology and appropriate tone of voice can go a long way. When the technician arrived, he was great and did absolutely everything he could do to make sure he was finished in time. He did a great job and was very diligent in answering questions and really hustled to get the job done without compromising quality. He made sure I was aware of the cost involved and that I approved each item. He more than made up for the confusion surrounding the time crunch.
Description of Work: resealed kitchen sink drain; snaked and cleaned master shower drain; rebuilt toilet flapper, etc.

Overall. my service went well. We had a bit of a "rocky" start as my original appointment was scheduled earlier in the week. Joe arrived at the initial appointment approx. 1 and 1/2 hour late. Originally, I was disappointed but Joe explained that when he is with a customer, they require his full attention and sometimes the task goes longer than expected. He treats customers with attention and respect. I appreciated his candid and honest response and the fact, that the customer matters. We rescheduled for Friday, October 19th. Joe was near to on time and performed the services requested. He was informative and thoughtful about my concerns and questions. He explained everything thoroughly. The work was done timely and done well. What really bothered me about this situation is I bought this home brand new seven years ago. Being a grandma and the only human in my household (LOL, LOL) I expressed my concerns about the potential for future problems (as I am known to be a worry wart from time to time). Joe calmed my worries and concerns to include stating his work carries a one year warranty. Although I have not been able to use the shower just yet because of drying time for the caulking, I am confident everything will work just fine. I would strongly recommend this organization and if possible, ask for Joe.
Description of Work: Services provided: 1) Replacement of my master bath drain unit 2) Replacement of my master bath shower head and unit that is connected to the shower turn on/off lever to the direct water from the pipes to the shower head 3) Caulking of the 3" x 3" master bath shower stall 4) Check the toilets for proper bolting and "tork"

Our kitchen sink was backed up and my husband was going to rent a drain snake from Home Depot to do it himself. I went on Angie's List and found Master Blaster--Home Depot would cost us about $50 for the rental; Master Blaster was $79--we decided it was well worth the extra $29 to know it would be done the same day with a guarantee and my husband would not have to make a mess or get frustrated. Eric came out on time and was done in less than an hour (maybe even less than 30 min). Our drain is clear and works great. Thanks and we will call again for our main drain when the roots from the tree out front clog it.
