It was good. It wasn't what I wanted but it had to be done. He did a good job and fixed it the day I purchased the deal. Everything was fine. He was courteous. There were additional charges beyond the big deal amount. I spent almost $1000.

Thank you very much for your review of Master Blaster. We appreciate our Angie's List customers, and want to offer them the best deals. You purchased the coupon for a Water Heater flush, which couldn't be done because of the condition of the unit. We did reduce your final price by the amount you paid for that coupon. When it comes to Water Heaters, since there installation could have been done years ago, there is always bring them up to compliance when installing a new one. Those charges are in excess to the cost of the Water Heater because more work needs to be done. We hope you would call us again in the future. Lori

I haven't answered any e-mails because I really hate bad reviews. The people I talked on the phone on were wonderful and doubled hate them because I bought the coupon from Angie's List. I wrote the service guy a check. They gave me back my check. The man who painted the house I would never use them again because of him. I ended up fixing the water heater myself. He told that some cup couldn't be changed on the water heater and I knew that was wrong because I had already read the book that goes with my water heater. I went to Home Depot and spent like seventeen dollars to get a thermos couple and fix it myself.

The provider was very clean and very professional. We had a specific problem with the garbage disposal. They provided an estimated price for the services. We thought that the problem would have a simple solution, but it was not. However, that was not their problem. They arrived at the scheduled time.
Description of Work: The provider provided an appraisal and provided a fair estimate for the costs of a problem that was related to the garbage disposal.

The $20 big deal was not a deal at all. If you know that you need the services performed, just have them come over. I wanted for him to just uninstall the garbage disposal but he wanted to charge me for the whole install service. I agreed to it and he did a great job. More than I would have liked to pay, but I would have lost $20 for nothing had I declined.

The technician that showed up acted like they didn't want to do any work. He tried to charge me double for a part. I was so mad, I was trying to get my money back. He just stood there and talked to me. He checked one sprinkler head, ran to Home Depot to get the part, and then tried to charge me double for the part than what he paid. The Big Deal was a good price, but the part was being charged to me for over $20. I could have purchased the part for $9 on my own. He came in, turned on my sprinkler system, looked at the one that was bad, that I pointed out, and then he ran to the store to get the part and tried to double the price. When I told him I wasn't paying double for the part, he said he wasn't going to do any work, got in his truck and left. He had a snotty attitude. They will never get my business again!

It didn't go. I asked Angies list for a refund and to remove Master Blaster's Big Deal offer...
Description of Work: I purchased as an Angies Big Deal a "$899 Rheem gas water heater." When I called to scheduling installation and asked what Rheem model it was, they said it was a GE Smartwater heater. I said the ad clearly stated that it was a Rheem unit, not GE. They stated that the unit was manufactured by Rheem but was labeled and sold as a GE. Of course, there is no way for a consumer to verify that, and when I pointed out that the ad CLEARLY stated it was a Rheem and I wanted a Rheem installed, they said all they have is GE. So, does it seem to anyone else that it is pretty amazing for a company to actually do a "bait and switch" on Angies list? And the interesting part of it, is that the company seemed absolutely clueless that what they were doing was unethical if not illegal. I wouldn't want them to even enter my house let along install anything!

The bathroom sink I primarily use was leaking about a 1/8 cup per hour. Nothing major, but it was only going to get worse over time. I purchased a $100 for $49 coupon from Angie's List and gave Master Blaster a call. I had a pair of guys show up the next day (earlier than scheduled, but they called to confirm that would be okay) and the labor quote was over $300. I immediately felt it was steep, but I had already purchased the coupon for repair work and had a strong feeling I would have had to pay a show-up fee. Parts ended up being an additional $180 or so for apparently a pair of stems that they didn't know beforehand would be so expensive. They did offer to simply replace the faucet and the faucet on the second sink for "about the same cost," but I already have enough mismatched faucets in the house and I had no interest in faucet hunting at this time. The entire service took about 3hrs considering they had to make two trips for parts and there was a lot of complaints about the quality of the sink setup, which doesn't surprise me knowing the previous owners of the house. In all, the guys were helpful, friendly, and professional, and the leak is gone, but I'm not impressed with the price of the service. I chose this plumber based on reviews of good work and good prices. It's more of a "Maybe" that I'll use this plumber again, not a definite "Yes."

My husband and I are do-it-yourself kind of people. When we realized one room in or basement had a large amount of water leaking into it, we pulled out the soaking carpet and pad, and investigated all of the hidden plumbing that runs through that part of our house. After eliminating the indoor plumbing, we cut the wall paneling and discovered the water was coming in at the foundation. After a call to the local water company confirmed our final suspicion that our main water line had likely ruptured and was soaking our foundation. We decided this was one project we were not reasonably going to be able to do ourselves and started looking for reliable plumbers. After searching Angie's List, and reading reviews, we decided to try Master Blaster. They were able to send out someone the same day we called. When Manny Garcia (Master Plumber) arrived at our house, we walked him through our problem. He immediately understood the situation and, after taking some measurements, was able to provide a cost for replacing the entire main water line with malleable 3/4in copper (approximately 60 feet, half of which runs directly under our 1925 brick bungalow). He also walked us through the procedure, which involved digging holes at both ends of the line and using the old water line to pull the new line through. He was very knowledgeable and straight-forward so we went ahead and hired Master Blaster on the spot. His team arrived when they said they would, and they set about putting down plastic to protect our floors/stairs and carefully removed the paving bricks that sit around our cities water main connection. They were all very polite, happy to answer questions, and were not bothered by our curiosity in the work. They tried their best to do the job as cleanly and carefully as possible, which isn't easy when it involves removing old flooring and digging into concrete. They removed only the minimum amount of materials to get to the old line and started to pull the new line through. Their first attempt failed (they had told us it might) when the lead pipe broke (our old line was half lead, and half galvanized). They dug another hole, this time in our yard, and they were able to pull the new line through and connect it. The city inspector was happy with their work and they were gone by 3:45PM. When they left, it was almost impossible to tell they had been here. The bricks had been neatly replaced and the sand swept back into place, and there was only a small patch (2ft x 2ft) of dirt where we will re-seed with grass in spring. Inside our house we have a small patch (1ft x 2 ft) of concrete drying. As DIY people, we almost never hire out work on our home. When we have, we are frequently disappointed, but that was not the case with Master Blaster. They were on time, did exactly what they said they would, and were all a pleasure to deal with. The work cost us $5460, which given they pulled permits, had 6 people here, and a back hoe/loader for 7 hours, we believe that is very fair. We did not get any competing bids, so we do not know what other companies would have charged, but we are completely satisfied with Master Blaster's work and happily recommend them.

Everything was excellent, from start to finish. The original call was answered by Mary-Beth, who was friendly and helpful, and assured me she could have someone at the house the same afternoon (despite the fact it was Martin Luther King Day). She told me about a relevant coupon for the job and that it included the total cost, travel as well as getting the job itself done. Since previous plumbers have charged $75 just to travel to the job, a total cost of $99 to get to the job and complete it seemed to me to be a very fair and reasonable price. Eric arrived on time. I explained the job for which I had called and also some other jobs that we could possibly attend to. He then got straight on with the unblocking job. Within 30 minutes he had achieved what was needed. He worked well and cleanly and with no fuss. I was encouraged by Eric's approach and decided to ask him to carry out the shower repair. He quoted me a total cost of $250 to include everything that was needed to identify and fix the problem. This involved checking the problem, stripping down the control/mixer device and removing the cartridge, driving to a hardware store with the existing cartridge in order to ensure the correct replacement, returning with the right parts, fitting them and getting everything as it should be. The cost included time, labor, driving to and from the store, and parts. There were no unexpected extras - the price was exactly what Eric had said it would be. I could see for myself when the cartridge was removed that the decision to replace it had been the right one: the existing one had broken springs and parts that had failed. Eric's assessment had been accurate and his recommendation correct. Of course I would rather not have had to spend $250 on an unanticipated plumbing repair, but the job was necessary and the price was fair. Eric was friendly and efficient. I would recommend him to anyone needing plumbing work done. Most homeowners worry about plumbers - after all, plumbers have a bad reputation and often they deserve it. So I am very pleased to write a positive review of Master Blaster and sincerely to recommend them to other homeowners who need a plumber.

I needed a plumber to connect a vessel sink and cabinet to the existing plumbing and drain lines. The plumber came out around 3:30 PM as scheduled. The plumber looked at the sink and connections for about 3 minutes and announced thatthe job could not be completed becasue I bought the wrong sink (whatever that means). I truly believe that the plumber simply did not want to work anymore that day and made up an excuse to get out of my house, let the chips fall where they may. Specifically, the plumber complained that the project could not be completed because I used an IKEA cabinet but did not use the IKEA sink. Instead I purchased a marble top and vessel sink. The plumber informed me that I must use the IKEA sink that matched the IKEA cabinet we used. None of this made sense because the sink and countertop were already installed! I just needed someone to connect the drain pipe to the wall. I had a drain pipe, I had a service pipe coming out of the wall. I told the plumber that his explanation didn't make any sense because the countettop and the sink were in place I just needed to connect it to the drain. The plumber told me that it could not be done and that I should go get a second opinion. At this point it became pretty obvious that this plumber did not want to do the work and that he was desperately trying to come up with excuses so that he could go home for the day (probably). After listening to him try tto talk his way out of having to do the work I felt that the plumber could not be trusted to do a good job. First, because he just told me repreatedly that the job was impossible (so how could he possibly do it after telling me it could not be done so many times)and second I didn't want anyone who wasn't excited about the project to work on it (if he doesn't want to be there then I don't want him there). I thought having a disgruntled plumber in the house was likely just asking for trouble. After it was clear he didn't want to work I dismissed him and called Master Blaster to see if they could send someone else out (after all I had already waited two days or so for their company to come out the first time and had waited all day waiting for him to come on that particular day). The person I spoke with on the phone said that they would send someone but I got a call 15 minutes later stating that no one would be coming and that there was nothing that could be done because I had bought the wrong sink. Master Blaster told me that they were going to take the plumber's word over mine and that they had already made up their mind when they called me to cancel-there was nothing I could do to convince them otherwise. Unfortunately for Master Blaster, I believe their plumber likely did not tell the complete truth about the situation or how his generally poor attitude made me skeptical about the quality of work he would perform. Not only that, I went to home depot and found an adjustable down pipe and "P trap" and had the sink fixed in about 5 minutes for about $5- so apparently the job was not "impossible because I had the wrong sink" but it is more likely that the situation was as I expected all along -the plumber simply did not want to work after 3:30 PM. I guess I can be thankful of the plumber's laziness because I likely saved several hundred dollars doing it myself. Master Blaster should be ashamed of the quality of the "professionals" they send to people's houses and they should give the customer the benefit of the doubt because had they sent anyone else to my house they would have seen that the job was in fact possible, that their plumber was probably experiencing some sort of issues not related to the work assignment, and they would have won back my respect and my business.

Dear Angie's List Member, I appreciate you taking the time to write this review and want to apologize for any frustration we caused you. Please allow me to explain the decisions we made that day. Our Service Technician called the office and let us know that if he installed a proper P-Trap it would interfere with the cabinet drawer's operation. We are aware that the flexible P-Traps are available and it is our opinion that they do not meet a professional install standard our customers rely on us for. There was little option for us at that point. I hope it is understood we did not wish to offend you in any way but we stand by the decision. Wouldn't you agree if we can't do a plumbing job in a way we feel is proper we should walk away? As for the willingness to work I can not speak to that and I would offer you a sincere apology. We intend to present ourselves as highly skilled and excited to share what we know. Please let us know if we can be of further assistance in the future. Thank You. Gregg

Their scope man is the worst. He is surly, combative, lack punctuality, acts as if he owns to outfit (because no sane company could hire and keep him if he was not an owner). The work men were not supervised and the job was only half done and when other personnel sought to evaluate and satisfy me, the final suggestion was to return and redo, for an exorbitant additional price. With candor, I think highly of the other company persons with whom I dealt but the one miserable scope man totally ruined the experience. I will avoid them all in the future.
Description of Work: Scoped sewer-line and then "repaired" problem by redoing part of it.
