He arrived on time and worked diligently.
Description of Work: This was a special Angie's list deal price. Rigoberto came over for four hours to repair plaster on my kitchen ceiling and wall. He was very professional in the way he prepared for the job so that all the mess and debris was contained for easy clean up. I was quite surprised at how much he was able to accomplish in just four hours and what a great job he did. My house is 100 years old and is in need of TLC. He gave it some and my ceiling looks beautiful again and the wall is much improved.

Eric and his team are fabulous! We interviewed multiple GCs for the work we needed to be done. Eric immediately struck us as the most solid, knowledgeable, and creative. We came to him with the idea of a bedroom addition. He found a way to reach our goal of adding a bedroom within the existing space, thereby, significantly reducing the overall price and headache of the project. His price for the final project was in the mid-range of the other estimates we received. What is really great about Eric's estimates is that they are delivered fast (generally within minutes) and are all-inclusive. He does not breakdown an estimate into every detail of work to be completed so it takes a little leap of faith but we are glad to have taken the leap with him. When work began, everything moved quickly and orderly. Eric was always quick to respond to our questions (whether we contacted him by phone, email or text) and his assistant (a really great young man) checked on the project's progress everyday. I work from home so I saw the work unfold everyday. The workers were always punctual and diligent. We will certainly stick with Eric for any future remodeling projects.

FINAL UPDATE: These guys came back and made everything more than right. Even though I was a little down on them in my initial review, I am highly impressed by the efforts shown to make sure I was satisfied. I deal with contractors fairly regularly and it is rare to find one willing to take responsibility in the event that they blow it. If you're thinking about a job and you're nervous about getting what you bargained for, I'd give these guys a call. They'll make sure the work is done, even if it takes a revisit on their dime. I now plan to use them again in the future. TEMPORARY UPDATE: The owner contacted me and is looking to make it right. Seems sincere. Since everyone else is giving him A's and I can't switch to N/A for the moment, I'll go with A for now. Be back next week for real update after his guys come back. INITIAL REVIEW: Had a water leak in my laundry area. I began the project of replacing the wet drywall myself - moving/disconnecting washer/dryers, cutting out and disposing of the damaged drywall pieces, drying the studs behind, and purchasing replacement drywall and texture. Later that day, I saw the Angie's List Big Deal for Drywall repairs. Since my taping and mudding skills are suspect, I jumped on it, figuring that 4 hours of work would be plenty for tacking up some drywall, mudding, taping, sanding and re-texturing. The job was literally 18 sq. ft. It took us three weeks, three emails and three phone calls to finally get the job scheduled, but it was a Big Deal with significant traction so that wasn't too bad, I guess. When the guy showed up (not the owner), he came with two workers and claimed that they would then work for 2 hours instead of 4. That would normally be fine, except that drwall mud takes time to dry. So, one man in 4 hours isn't the same as 2 men for 2 hours in this particular case. When I asked the guy about it, he said not to worry as they were using quick drying mud. I was skeptical, but whatever, as long as the job got done. Long story short, the two guys worked for 1.5 hours for a total of 3 man hours (instead of 4) and then left telling me that they wouldn't be able to sand, texture, or re-tack the trim because the mud needed time to dry. If I wanted them to come back to finish the drywall job, with some white paint added, the guy quoted me another four hours at the full price, which I politely declined. Overall, the actual work that they did was really good. It didn't take much elbow grease for me to sand it down. I would just say that the small job that I wanted done seemed doable in the four hours time that I had purchased, and it didn't get done. Plus, the guy (again, not the owner) tried to upsell me for another $350 if I wanted him to finish the job. That wasn't too cool.
Description of Work: Job requested - 18 sq. ft. of drywall repair, with light texture. Job performed - 18 sq. ft. of drywall repair, without sanding or texture.

It went very well. They arrived on a Tuesday to measure and returned on Friday and Saturday to install. They cleaned up before they left, and did no damage to anypart of the house. (They even replaced a worn hinge on one of the toilet seats!) They were courteous and friendly, and the finished product is beautiful. I would definitely recommend their services, and I will consult them for any future home improvement projects.

The told me it could not be done in a day so I was told to buy extra time, which the work done the second day was all of about half an hour. They told me I did not have the right things so I bought more, they then told me I had bought too many things so I had to return them because they did not inspect what I had bought. I was charged for a restocking fee.The morning of they show up and they tell me I can't have done what I needs to be done. They stood around while I was talking to the company and Angie's List and they did nothing while I tried to figure out what was covered under the Big Deal that I had purchased. After an hour and a half they finally put a dead bolt on because I had purchased extra time, so I had them do this project. They hung a picture for me above the couch which was terrible, they left a huge hole and pencil marks and a plaster mark on the wall. They did offer to come paint the living room for me, but not for free, this was just to get more money out of me. It was a horrible experience from one of the highly rated service providers. I have to re-do the work they did. The ones that came back the second time to put the fixture in, those guys were excellent.
Description of Work: I had asked for a light fixture put up and move the heating and a/c vent.

It was a Big Deal for 2 painters for a day. It went okay but it could have gone better. I had no problem providing the paint but my time got used up because when they came they had to assess the job so my time got used up while they were assessing the job. I think it would have been better if they had come out to look at the job when I called. I bought the guys lunch so I lost a little time there too. The price was good; it couldn't be beat. They did a good job. I would consider using them again.

I'd been considering a complete kitchen remodel for the past 6 years, and decided to invest in the improvements when I reviewed both the kitchen remodeling deal that Skyline Construction had posted, as well as the extremely positive reports submitted by this company's clients on Angie's List. When i first contacted Eric, he was amazingly responsive and punctual. Upon meeting, I explained to him some of my ideas regarding the overall design, he listened intently while interjecting with his input as well. Eric incorporated everything that I had asked for in my wish list and within only 2 days, submitted to me his 3-D computer-rendered designs, making it incredibly easy for me to see exactly how my kitchen would look after the remodel. Once the work began, it was one of the most painless processes I have been through. Well managed, well orchestrated, and well supervised.....I'm not sure that I could have asked for more, especially when considering such a major remodel. Both he and his project manager Ron visited my home routinely to ensure that work was proceeding, but more importantly, proceeding with quality. From the demo crew, to the plumbers, electricians, painters, dry-wallers, and cabinet installers, every single team was professional, on-time, and extremely skilled. Each team thoroughly cleaned up after each and every job. The final result was nothing short of amazing......and with a custom kitchen installation, I think 4 weeks for completion was extraordinary. With such a sizable project, I absolutely could not be more pleased with Eric and his team's efforts, and ultimately, their level of professionalism. As such, I've begun discussions with Eric and his team to start drafting plans to redo two bathrooms, my hardwood flooring, and the entertainment area just off my new kitchen. This is one contractor that I am proud to endorse, and will continue to do so by hiring him to do more work in my Tarzana home.
Description of Work: My kitchen was completely remodeled with the complete removal of all cabinetry, appliances, and tile. Custom cabinetry was installed with granite countertops.

I originally filed a negative report on this company. I have been in touch with Eric and it has become clear that my earlier report was the result of miscommunication and misunderstanding. Eric has done everything possible to rectify the situation. I would like to withdraw my earlier report completely, but, unfortunately Angie's list will only allow me to update it. Flashing was cut to size and nailed in place. Plastic was cut to size and taped over windows. Chicken wire was cut to size and put in place. Stucco was mixed and applied. Stucco took about a week to dry. First 3 windows had some cracking when dryed around entire window. Last two windows had much cracking all around the windows. About 17 cracks just on the top part of living room window and a single line crack all around windows where new stucco med old stucco. I will have much stucco patching to apply before painting. Application of stucco was pretty good (blending it to the existing stucco pattern).

Updated: We did call Skyline for our next project and it was a disappointing experience. I got a Big Deal for two painters for one day for $440. I asked them to prep and paint an 15x20 living room (flat part of ceiling and walls and fireplace mantle only) and when they came by they said they didn't know if they could finish it in one day as the walls needed patching, so we agreed on a priority of what would get done. In the one day, the two guys mostly prepped the walls, painted one coat on the fireplace and painted the ceiling. My husband said it was more like having one painter and one assistant because one guy was using a heat gun while another one did patching, so less got done than expected. I was not too upset with that, because I understand it's important to prep well. But I wasn't happy with the end result - after the guys left my living room was a mess - the walls weren't fully prepped, they had slopped ceiling paint on the trim, the fireplace still had paint chips over which they had painted.. it wasn't finished but it also wasn't a quality job of prep either. Their estimate to come finish the job? $800, a whole day's worth of work for two people. My problems with their work: First, if my project was really two full days of work, they should have been able to tell me that before they started, rather than saying they didn't know if they could do the "whole job" in one day. So poor communication. Second: they didn't do a great job of prepping, even given the slow pace of work. Third, the job cost tripled between the initial "we might not be able to do it in one day" and ending "needs two more people for a day". I didn't like the feeling of being given a bait & switch so I called a contractor I know and trust and he had two guys come in and finish the job in 4 hours. I think Skyline uses the Big Deals to get new customers and I understand that as a marketing strategy. But if I pay for two guys for a day, I expect they can get a certain amount done. I don't like the feeling I got that the initial day was a "bait" for them to get more money by returning to finish the work. I won't hire them again and I would caution Angie's List members to make sure your "Big Deal" doesn't turn into a Big money sink by limiting what you expect them to do in one day to very small projects. Previous Review: Got the Big Deal on Angie's List from Skyline so the project had to be one day's work for two painters. The painters were great, got right to work and did a very good job. I am really happy with the results and happy I tried Skyline. No complaints at all, we will definitely call Skyline for a quote on our next project.
Description of Work: First time: Prep and paint 4 exterior wood windows (mostly original 1940), some needed a lot of prep work. Second time: Prep interior room for painting.

The worker arrived on time. I let him know what I was hoping he would be able to do. I took him around the house to show him where things needed to be done. He immediately started to work and completed everything. He was very professional, knowledgeable and very neat. I wish I would have planned better to have more for him to do but we are happy with the work he did and will call Skyline Construction again. When we remodel, we will call them for their estimates.

The gentlemen, Eric's workers, from Guatamala did a good job in prepping two interior doors. It took them over three plus hours each on one side of each standard interior doors. Eric, the owner, failed to record our appointment scheduled 1 month in advance and was unapologetic for not having done so. I purchased two coupons for 4 hours of painting/ prep. I was told, when scheduling the appointment with Eric there would be 2 guys for a total of 8 hours. He sent two guys, who arrived at 11:30am for four hours. They left promptly at the fourth hour. I would not recommend the company because when I was initially trying to schedule the appointment I had to leave multiple messages and received no return calls. Finally, I called and was connected to Eric, the owner, who gave me a date and did not show up as promised. The day of I had to leave several messages before receiving a return call...unprofessional...poor follow-up...dis-interested...kirt...not a service-oriented operation...customer service needs a lot of improvement...dishonest.

I'll be brief, it went very well. The two painters that the company sent over were excellent, punctual, and just very nice people. The came exactly when they were supposed to, their painting was professional, they cleaned up, actually put books back on the shelves when they were done. I wish they had more than 24hrs, but they got done most of what I had hoped they would. In any event, I intend to use them again very soon. Great company, the owner Eric is very reasonable and very efficient.

They had a special with 7 hours of handyman work. I was very happy and they did good work. I used the Angie's list special. They are very punctual and they communicate. The foreman came and understood everything I needed. I had a list and he left behind a workman who did all the work and he followed up on me with a couple of things that needed to be done for the house. If I end up doing what he suggested I would use them. They went above and beyond. They were trying to match the paint and I had so many different shades of green paint in my garage and the workmen spent a lot of time making sure he found the right shade of paint that would work. They are very thorough and detail oriented. I would recommend them. He gave me a quote for some other work and I haven't shopped around to see if the price is high or low.

He arrived on Tuesday to give us the quote. We asked when he could start, he said he'd call us that night. He called the following day and said he was starting the next morning. He recommended Dunn Edwards paint which was fine but they close at 5pm and I work so we had to rush out at lunch the day they started to select paint. Normally I would have tried samples to be sure but they needed our paint choice that day so we picked one. We don't like it but that's not his fault. I haven't used a contractor for this sort of work before. My husband had bad experiences in the past and so he prefers to do the work himself but the wallpaper removal was more than I wanted to tackle. When I got the quote I asked for the wallpaper to be removed and the bedroom painted. The painters started and on day 1 told us they weren't going to paint the wall that was all painted closet, in other words, 3/4's of my bedroom. I called the owner, he told me, "don't talk to the painters", made them paint the closet and didn't charge more but I learned you need to be very specific and check the contract closely. "paint all the doors in the hallway" apparently means only one side (they did both on request) and "replace the baseboards" didn't specifically include the dining room on the quote, they didn't do it and wanted additional money if we wanted it done. (we passed). Most of the painting was done reasonably well but there were a few paint runs, not everything was taped so there were small amounts of paint on door knobs and the dining room floor. The texture in the dining room looks great. The last room painted was bathroom and it was pretty sloppy because they were in a hurry to finish. We had to touch up the paint around the window. All in all the paint looks nice and although I probably wouldn't hire him again because I didn't feel I got a $3,000 paint job I wouldn't say don't use them. I would just say make sure you are clear at the outset, in writing in the contract, what you actually want done. He did what was in the contract so he fulfilled his part of the deal but in a very average way. He gave us ballpark estimates on some other work we want done and his prices tell me he is probably used to doing much larger, expensive work and not little houses like our place.
Description of Work: Remove wallpaper in bedroom and dining room, texture dining room, paint dining room, bedroom, 1/2 bath, 4 doors in hallway, replace baseboards in bedroom and bathroom.

I had signed up for the" Big Deal" ---one day with 2 painters for $399 for one room. I needed to paint my guestroom. The contractor determined I would probably need more time than one day for all the trim, patching etc. I also had previously painted over wall paper, and the contractor (and I) thought we could do this again. However, after 1 1/2 days, I could see we had a problem. The contractor came, and we agreed that the walls needed to be stripped of wall paper, then patched and painted again. This took several more days, but I was thrilled not only the results, but how fair the company was in making the room and job right without charging extra. The room is beautiful---it looks brand new, and has far exceeded my expectations. Thank you, Skyline Construction (and Mose) for all you did. The painters who worked on the job were very accommodating, and hung in with me on the job. I wish I could afford to have you back to do the rest of my house! I will definitely call when I can start my next project.!
Description of Work: I needed one room, a second floor guest room painted. Wall paper was stripped, walls patched, gaps in ceiling filled in, cupboards, doors and window seat, as well as window trim were all patched and painted. If you plan to paint over wall paper---you might want to reconsider.
