Skyline Construction & Remodeling

I had a really ugly experience with contractors in the past so I had been very careful who I choose this time as my contractor. For you who had construction in the past probably knows what I'm talking about and for those who hadn't have one consider yourself lucky. Someone I trust had recommended Eric's company to me but I still worry about getting another nightmare construction, so I wanted to start with my bathroom before getting into something bigger. Initially he said it won't take more than a month but depend on inspection which I understand sometimes couldn't schedule inspector to come right away. It actually took them about 2 weeks of full work to finish the job and the whole process was smooth. Couldn't believe how efficient their crew was. It's very organized, never waste a day as the crew work from 7.30 - 5, carefully lining and protect the floor and other walls, always cleans after each day and the quality of work is excellent. I'm not gonna lie of course there was a bump along the way but what impressed me is how Eric handles it. Once we encountered a problem with fabricator, he did good job but the opening cut for sink was a little bit to small for my sink size. I called Eric and told him the situation, right away he had the fabricator came the next day and had them fixed exactly what I wanted. Without hassle. You know a lot of contractor would try to get away with it or try to convince you that it's okay so they don't have to do extra work but Eric always make sure I get everything exactly the way I wanted. I'm very pleased with Eric and his crew. Never imagine that doing remodeling could be this easy. Now I'm not hesitate to have him do the job for the entire house. I'll keep you guys update once they finish the next job.

The outcome was amazing! We love our new home. Our vision came to fruition. Very pleased.

Initially it looked great. But after about a week, the paint started peeling. I went to the local hardware store and told them about this. They advised the paint I supplied needed a primer. I am disappointed that the painters did not say anything about needing primer or using a different kind of paint. I never contacted them after that and counted my losses. I would not use them again.

The deal covered what they did. In my bathroom, they did some drywall patch that had bubbled. I would say a professional would have painted trim with the semi-gloss that I sent out and not the flat that was set out. I would have chosen a different drywall patch for the bathroom that didn't bubble so they were probably at the C level, but in terms of their behavior, I would say they're professional. I would use them for certain things. I left out semi-gloss and flat paint. The trim looks great but they painted it with the flat.

Communication with Skyline was easy and pleasant. Roberto arrived on time and did an outstanding job. He covered the furniture with plastic, and at the end cleaned up so there was absolutely no mess anywhere. I could easily tell from watching him work and from the end result that he is highly skilled at what he does. I would use him again in a heartbeat.

This was my second time using Skyline and couldn't be more please with the end result. We decided to remodel our bathroom to create a true master bath. But as with everything relating to our house many structural issues were discovered and thankfully discovered before any serious incidents occurred. There was no framing of the walls so the stucco was basically holding up the room. Skyline completely reframed the walls, installed supports under the house, and redid the subfloor. The custom shower is a real showpiece and impresses everyone who sees it in person. It's almost like we have a new addition. Eric and his team always responded promptly and were there every step of the way. No question was left unanswered. We're so pleased with our new bathroom that we're going to go ahead and update our guest bathroom.

I am not certain of the date and it took months longer than original estimate. I originally posted a D in Angie's list and was contacted by the company asking me to remove the D and they would come right out and correct the problems. They came right out and said they would be back to complete the job correctly, I removed the D, and never returned. I could not find them in my services to do another review. Today I located the company while I was checking for different services. The company made custom cabinets and a re-finisher had to come out 3 times. The painter for the walls came out two or three times to correct the paint job. The finish was never really sealed well. I had custom quartz counters made to go with the custom cabinets. The measurements were short and the dishwasher, which had a cabinet panel on the front, stuck out about an inch from the other cabinets. I was told it would be too expensive to correct the error and told to buy a different dishwasher. The panel for the dishwasher was not installed correctly and has since fallen off the dishwasher. There is still wall paint on the bay window that I have not been able to remove. The ceiling cabinets did not meet the ceiling and the filler used was applied incorrectly and does not look straight. I had many electrical outlets installed.....one no longer works. The pantry had pull out drawers and the hinges have broken. The sub-contractors were terrible and, although the additional subcontractors that come out to fix the original problems were better, they recommended paying more to properly perform the remodel. I am very unhappy.

Eric and the Skyline Construction team are very reliable, honest and fairly priced. They remodeled 2 bathrooms for us and the quality is top notch. Communication is always a big factor for us and Eric is easy to reach via email or phone. This is our 2nd time using Skyline and we would not hesitate to use them again for all future projects. I highly recommend them. 5 stars!!

This is the second time with Skyline. The first remodel was for a bathroom, and that went sooo well, we hired Skyline to remodel our kitchen. Both experiences were "over-the-top"! When Eric at Skyline estimates a completion date, he does EVERYTHING in his power to get the job done on time. (In both of our jobs Eric was able to complete the jobs on-time and actually completed them early). Family and friends have told my wife and me of nightmares with home remodels and completion dates that are 1-3 months late. Not Eric at Skyline. From the demolition of the kitchen to final touch-up (electrical/cabinets/tile/countertop) Eric responds to issues and concerns almost immediately. Eric's assistant (Kristina) called regularly to let us know when and approximately what time workers would arrive AND what they would be doing. Getting the calls from Kristina was assuring and confirming about work being done. Each worker that arrived was clean and professional in every way. I once asked one of the sub-contractor about what he thought about Skyline and Eric, his response brought a smile to my face, "Good Company, but Eric like, wants to have the job completed yesterday!" What every home owner is thinking. We L.O.V.E. how our kitchen looks (tile floor/custom cabinets/quartz countertop/tile backsplash, nice touches on the lighting, and completed ON-TIME!,... Thank you Kristina and Eric...

The painter was on time. He covered my oak cabinets and painted the kitchen following my requests. I had two colors and where the colors came together the painter had very straight lines. When he finished painting he cleaned everything up and replaced the light fixtures and outlet plates.

The young lady answer the phone was very professional. She called the day before the scheduled appointment. I had to reschedule once but that was no problem with them at all (how nice). The painter arrived on time and went right to work. He assisted me with removing the mirror and light switch. He did a fantastic job painting the walls, cabinets, doors and frames. I am quite pleased and will use them again.

It went well. Skye performed the work as agreed, and was imaginative and helpful with extras and ideas to correct issues that naturally come up. I will use him again if another project arises.

This is the second time we have hired Eric and we are so pleased we had to write another review. This time he has tiled our backyard and it looks beautiful. Eric and his team are professional, knowledgable, and creative. Our backyard is exactly how we were hoping it would look. Eric is always available and his estimates are fair and reasonable. We are now hiring him for our third home improvement project. We are so fortunate to have found Eric and his team.

Eric was with us every step of the way. He's a very very nice man and very comforting when going through something large like this. If we needed to talk with him, he was on the phone in a matter of minutes.. questions were answered in both phone and email. He made everything so easy and his manner is easy going. I can't think of having anything done with anyone else but Eric. Working with him was effortless and painless. You won't find a better man to work with . I'm only sad that we won't be seeing him anymore , I consider him a friend.

I had to reschedule a couple times and they were very accommodating. I ended up not using the service it was a last minute scheduling conflict no fault of the company. The gentleman who showed up said it would take more than one day at more cost which was completely understandable but couldn't come in two days in a row. The fee was refunded to me even though Angie's List wouldn't honor the refund as it had gone past the 30 days. The owner Eric could have given me a hard time but personally followed up with me and issues a company check in a very timely manner. I am extremely impressed with their professionalism and follow-up.

Excellent work, excellent workers, excellent communication. Did repair work in both bathrooms and kitchen. Would reccommend!

I cannot stress how great our experience with Eric and Skyline was. We had a horribly dated 1950's bathroom that we desperately needed to update. He came over, examined it, measured it, and sent us a very specific quote that was very detailed and thorough. We interviewed four contractors and Eric was our first and best choice for professionalism, timeliness, and general competency. Skyline was amazing to work with; Eric stuck to his timetable, even when unexpected issues came up (like massive water damage to the wall and bizarre DIY plumbing issues from the previous owners), didn't try to upsell us, and was a man of his word when it came to everything. We ripped out everything in the entire room except the window, and he was there to explain what was happening and what would happen next every step of the way. He took care of EVERYTHING we needed- even the random and unexpected bits!! The bathroom looks amazing, is an absolute pleasure to be in,and definitely adds value to our house. I cannot possibly express how happy we are with Skyline's work. We will definitely be calling Skyline for our future remodeling and construction needs!

Well, it was very easy to book the appointment within my framework! The painter, sorry, I forgot his name, was very prompt, eager to work, efficient, amazingly clean. I was so impressed. We had one worker for a day. He did drywall repair in all the spots around the house where we indicated it need it, then painted two rooms (except for the closets and trim, which we didn't ask for). The work was good. We're happy with the results.

I was so glad that they sent Roberto to work in my home. He's a lovely man and a hard worker. He arrived promptly and got right to work. He was respectful, courteous and very focused. He actually finished in less than 8 hours because he was so focused and hard working. The paint was only where it was supposed to be! There were no spots of paint anywhere! He cleaned everything before leaving and even wiped up my floor. My bedroom and bathroom area are now beautiful!

Skyline completed a transformative remodel of a kitchen, master bath, and second bathroom at my mid-century modern home; AND Eric, the owner, oversaw the job while my family and I were long-distance in a remote part of Vermont with spotty cell service. Of the five contractors I?ve employed on major remodels, Eric excels at scheduling, communication, fairness in price, and the tight operation of his working crew. I would hire him again without hesitation (and, indeed, already have--Skyline did an expedited bathroom remodel for me in Dec. 2012). Cost of the project was $57,000 for Skyline, not including materials such as cabinets, countertop, tile, and appliances. Here are the top reasons for my rave review: 1) The job was complicated and Skyline excelled at handling the unexpected. Several structural complications arose due to the unique build of the original house. For the master bath, we knocked down a closet wall to enlarge shower stall and rerouted air conduits. For the kitchen, we annexed a separate laundry room and sealed off an outer door to the kitchen. Once beams were exposed, it became clear that certain walls couldn?t be taken down, even with the addition of headers. Our selected design had to be readjusted after we were long-distance. Eric worked closely with Julia Spillman (co-owner and designer at Kitchen Warehouse) to resolve the structural issues and consulted with us regularly by skype. Skyline had architectural plans drawn for the application and approval of permits for an addition of two headers and a support beam. 2 ) Value: Skyline?s prices were reasonable and included the handling of all permits and inspections. Eric also negotiated adjustments fairly and went the extra mile?installing the range hood gratis. If you see the before and after photos, you?ll see too that Skyline did a beautiful job. 3) Flexibility with unexpected delays in materials: our backsplash tile while promised by an outside vendor in 2 weeks took 6 weeks; our cabinets (manufactured by an outside vendor specializing in low-emission boxes) were delivered with the incorrect color veneer. This meant that the job was stopped awaiting these deliveries. That?s a contractor?s nightmare. Eric readjusted and worked with these snafus. He didn?t disappear, however, as some contractors do. 4) Care with worksite and dust mitigation. Our budget required keeping certain big appliances. These were handled gently and stored safely (on site). Plastic sheeting sealed the work sites from the rest of the living space. 5) Demeanor: Eric conveys a calming, unflappable presence, handling the unexpected with utmost professionalism. At the outset and across the changes that arose during construction, he gave us various scenarios and price points. He?s also a warm, affable person and a great communicator.

As far as we are concerned, this Angie's Big Deal was a big ripoff .We signed up for an all inclusive bathroom remodel that was suppose to cost $4749.00. Skyline ended up charging us over three times more than what was advertised. We realized that our bathroom was bigger (50% bigger) than what was covered in the deal, but 300% more?!? Our plumber later said Skyline had done a slipshod job on the bathtub plumbing and our roofer later told us Skyline had vented the ceiling fan into our air conditioning ducts...And I had specifically asked them to vent it outside! We were very disappointed by the entire experience!
