Overall the job went pretty smoothly, however there was a delay while waiting for the correct tile to be delivered.
Description of Work: We had Skyline Construction remodel our master bathroom in February and were so pleased that we had them remodel our second bathroom as well. Again, the work was performed very professionally with very friendly and competent workers. The work consisted of a complete remodel including all new tile, tub, toilet, shower doors, vanity, medicine cabinet, mirror, lights, and exhaust fan. They also raised the shower head in the shower requiring breaking open the shower wall. We ran into a couple of problems during the remodel such as touching up some paint and the tile company sending the wrong tile. Eric's attitude was always "Don't worry about it, we'll take care of it." His philosophy seems to be that he will do whatever it takes to make the customer happy. We definitely recommend him and would not hesitate to use him again.

The time Skyline was here was probably the worst experience I have every had in my own home. Moses "the salesman" was very nice and accommodating during the initial visit. Everything was "No problem. We are here to give you what you want." Moses "the contractor" Not so much. During demo they put a hole in the bathroom window screen (repaired - if you call a totally out of square screen repaired)and snapped the legs off my patio table(not fixed or replaced). Then Moses came out once there was a giant hole where the bathroom was and told us it would be an additional $3050 to reframe the shower area (see above - price includes all repair in "shower area").During reframing they broke thru to the bedroom(They replaced the existing 2x6 with 2x4 so when they "fixed the wall it walks 2" over 2 feet) and the outside of the house*not fixed).during plumbing and electric I was told my circuit panel needed to be replaced and the house rewired ($9,800) enable to have the shower light and outlet connected ( I had it done for $350.00 but when the inspector came to check the job he found they had not done any venting on the fan - so it was sucking steamy air into my attic - another $125 to have this vented.) During tiling the poured the left over concrete and grout in my lawn and on the new mulch in my flower beds(not cleaned). During re-plastering they did not cover the tile so my brown grout is part white ( not fixed). When they painted they got primer on the tile, the bathroom window(acrylic textured panes-un-cleanable) and my hardwood floors. I also had wood shelving I wanted untouched - it was sanded randomly and had paint splatters all over it (not fixed). During fixture install - the lights, mirror and vanity were not centered (not fixed) the vanity drawers did not close due to the misplacement of plumbing(not fixed). We also found - before they left- that the tile is set so the water pools on the bench and runs into the room off the top of the dividing wall. When the 30th day came (end of job per contract) and I was crying in frustratiion tell the tile guy we would fix the grout and everythign else in small claims court - instead of offering to make the above right - Moses offered to buy and install a flat screen TV for me (never happened). They also left a large pile of trash(old doors, toilet). In the 2 months since the job the new dividing wall is cracking where it connects to the existing wall, the grout is cracking and falling out around the window and is washing away with regular cleaning from the vanity backsplash. Also any light bump takes the paint off the wall. When I covered the shelves they damaged with Contact Brand paper (over 30 days after painting was done), if it even touched the wall the paint came off in sheets. I did not pay Skyline our last scheduled payment of $960 because of the above. I have spent that plus more repairing and replacing behind them. And now I am pretty sure we will have to have major work done on the shower because of the poor drainage and cracking. I did a photojournal of this project to share with faraway family and friends on Facebook. I photographed the room daily. I believe this is why they did not push for the last payment as they knew I had the evidence to sue their butts off. So if you have questions or want to see the work they did - contact me - nawniebee77@yahoo.com
Description of Work: We had a complete bath remodel. We chose this company because of their high rating and the Big Deal they were offering. We had some serious water damage and wanted the tub/shower replaced with a larger shower. The deal was $4749 for the entire bath. Moses gave us an estimate of $7660 which included all repairs "in the shower area" and anything to be repair outside that area was to be extra charge. They did the demo, repair, electrical, plumbing , tile and painting. The upcharges were for water/ termite damage repair and installing a fan and venting to the outside.

For the most part, everything was great. Both men were very very polite, and always went right to work. I love the ceilings.. and also how my daughter's room looks with pink on the walls. House keeping is a different story. On that part, Ron reimbursed me for $75.00. Under the stair way was a pile of acoustical ceiling remnants. Some of the carpeting had paint on it (I'm planning to replace the carpeting in a year anyway.. so that didn't bother me). The cement in my patio had white paint drops on it. Still not able to remove that.
Description of Work: Ron came to my home the week prior to discuss what I wanted done (removal of acoustic ceiling and molding in the kitchen). He gave his recommendations which I considered strongly. I found Ron to be a various nice and very attentive young man. Services started the first week in April. Ron arranged to two workers to come and do the job. These guys worked really hard (coming in at 8, than leaving at 3:30). They scraped all the acoustic stuff of the ceilings (this took about 8 days to do. Out of generosity, they also painted my daughter's room a soft pink (she was very very happy about that). Plastic was laid everywhere. The men also plastered and painted the ceilings.'

The supervisor seemed to keep a pretty close eye on things and he was very reachable; he gave me his cell phone number and anytime I needed to ask him a question or anything, I would call and he invariably almost always responded. There were some details that kind of bothered me; I paid them as the job went along and as the job got more and more finished they seemed to lose interest in the details and it was harder to get their attention.
Description of Work: I used Skyline Construction & Remodeling for extensive remodeling work in my house; they completely redid my electrical in my home and they repaired and actually renovated my kitchen and the bathroom shower.

Eric and his team helped me repair and renovate a small master bathroom from a broken eye sore and potential hazard to a beautiful and relaxing space. They completely gutted my space and made structural repairs and additional reinforcement due to past termite and water damage before proceeding to the rest of the job. Once they had ensured a solid foundation to work from, they installed a new tile floor, a tile shower with custom glass shower doors, a new vanity, mirror, recessed lights, new hardware and paint. Eric's team also took care of picking up supplied and materials, all I had to do was either pre-pay for materials or tell them what store and part numbers. Skyline Construction was right on time with their time estimates and worked weekends to meet their deadlines. Eric's staff was very professional and took extra care to keep clutter and debris outside of the work area to a minimum. Moreover, Eric told me once a client, always a client and told me that I should contact him in about 4 or so months to have his team out to re-access the tile work as second floor restrooms will flex over time and minor cracking may occur in the grout work. He would do this for no additional cost as well.I will definitely be making Eric my first call in the future for quotes and additional work as needed on my home.

I contacted Skyline on the recommendation of ADI Electrical as they had installed new panel on back of house and had to remove stucco and frame area to do it. I had Skyway come out for this and while they were there asked about a couple other items that we needed to have done - gate on side of house was old and torn up by the wind we have had this year. Mirror in bathroom had come unglued and was kept up with corner barckets. So we had all items done by Skyline as we felt it was easier on us to do them all at once. Stucco repair took two days - plus extra hour another day to paint after all dried. Day one was frame repair and concrete. Day two was the actual stucco itself. Later the area was painted with some left over paint we had that matched the house. Gate repair was completed mostly in one day - they brought redwood boards and reconstructed a gate similar to the broken one but with stronger supports. Old gate was cut up so that we could put into trash as we had room (very nice touch). Mirror re-glue was done quickly and left to dry with the brackets back in place and I removed and repaird holes and paint myself. The workers were very professional and kept their areas clean. We were very happy with the work they did and the way they worked together to help one another. My grade B on price is not for the actual price but for the way the cost was quoted. Once we had a cost and agreed to a price, I asked about credit card and was told this would add 2.5% (or something close to this) - I paid down and forst pay with a check. Meanwhile I did research online to find that in California there is a code (Civil Code 1748.1) that does not allow a surcharge for using credit - BUT you can give a discount for cash. The quote should be given to accomidate this code and then if the person wants to use cash/check then a discount can be given. For the last part of the payment I paid by Credit card with no surcharge as I brought this code up to the company and he seemed surprised by this code - should not happen if you are doing business - he agreed to no surcharge.

Bought the deal for two painters for a day (7 hours + lunch). I had to book about a month in advance since they have business. It was worth the wait. I had to supply the paint, and caulking but they did the rest. On the day of the job the two workers, Miguel and (forgot his name, either Javier or Jose) both arrived before the appointment and got to work right on schedule. They were knowledgeable, friendly, and fast working. About an hour or two after they started, their project manager, Ron, came to check the place out and instructed them on what was to be done (which I'm sure they already knew). Ron was friendly and seemed like he knew a lot for being such a young guy. I am overall happy with this experience and would definitely use them again.

I think the supervisor name was Ron, he was one of the nicest guys on the planet, and he was very professional. They cleaned up after themselves, and they were very neat, it was overall a good experience. We would use them again, as they were close on the bid for the bathroom, but they are way far away, and we found a local guy we felt really comfortable with. They were not the cheapest, but it was not a deal breaker for me, and we were happy with their work, and they were on time, every time.

Ron was very professional and responsive. He just could not promise the job would be completed by last week of April. Since this is a vacation home for me and it is located 2500 miles from my primary residence, I had little flexibility regarding time of completion. THat is why I went to the competitor.

After many years of procrastination in updating our kitchen, my husband and I decided it was time to do so. Angie's List sent an offer for Kitchen Demolition and Remodeling including Labor and Materials through Skyline Construction Company as a Big Deal and we purchased the Big Deal in October, 2011 for $9,999.00. Not long after purchasing the Big Deal we received a phone call from Eric Saida. We arranged an appointment time that was convenient for all and Eric arrived promptly on that day and the plans were made. We told Eric what were wanting to see done in the kitchen which was to update the entire room, in addition to adding laminate flooring in the kitchen, laundry, and dining rooms. Eric went into the kitchen and immediately shared ideas and recommendations like moving the refrigerator to the opposite end of the kitchen and moving the stove thus giving the illusion of a bigger kitchen, in addition he showed us samples of cabinetry, floors, and granite to choose from and described features of the cabinetry like soft-close drawers, pull-out shelves, and spice rack as suggestions to include in the design. He also suggested using a microwave hood rather than a standard exhaust hood, thus allowing for more counter space. We explained we didn't want to begin any demolition until after the holidays and we made a follow-up appointment in January. Eric gave us an estimated price for completion of the remodel deducting the price of the Big Deal. Prior to drafting the contract Eric described the overall process in detail as to the length of each stage in the process, what would happen and who would be doing the work. We did have three questions we needed answered before we could go forward. One (1) what was the estimated time frame from beginning to end of the job. Two (2) what would cause the job to take longer. And three (3) what would cause the price to be more than estimated. Eric said the job would take five weeks and would only take longer if we could not make the house available to them. The price would only increase if they ran into something that neither of us could foresee, i.e., cracked drains, or holes in the floor. We also requested that we be notified the day prior as to what time they would arrive and what was being done that day. Eric agreed to provide us that information the day before and the contract was drafted and signed. The contract included a detailed description of the job including price allowances for each of the new appliances we were including in the remodel and price breakdown for the overall project. We settled on a start date and Eric assured us we could call at anytime to ask questions that we may have forgotten during the appointment. Eric called us at the end of January, we met with him and Moses and they took measurements reconfirmed the design and said the demolition would be begin the following week. Before Skyline could get started with the demolition however, we had to ask for an additional two days to clear out the drawers and cabinets, and Eric was more than accommodating. The job began on a Wednesday and it proceeded as Eric had described to us in our first meeting. We did have an unforeseen problem with our main drain that had to be replaced, not too surprising since it is a mid-century house, but we did get an estimate right then and there from Eric of the cost to do the drain replacement which was reassuring in our maintaining near the cost estimate. Moses introduced us to Ron who was the project supervisor who we could also contact at any time with any questions concerning the remodel since Ron was assigned to the Lakewood area and was a delight to work with. Each night Eric and I would exchange details of what time the workers would be coming and what they would be doing the next day just as we asked. This became our routine daily throughout the remodel. We couldn't have been more pleased with our Skyline Construction experience and we highly recommend them! Our kitchen was completely gutted from a vintage 1955 era kitchen to a new modern beautiful kitchen with custom cabinets, granite counter-tops, new wood laminate floors, various accessories and built-ins all within budget and specifically on-schedule! Eric told us five weeks and it WAS five weeks, amazing! We had a previous remodeling experience 9-years ago with a different contractor that was unfortunately stereotypical for this industry, the job took significantly longer than promised, it went over budget and towards the end we had trouble getting them to come back and complete the job, ugh! We had a completely opposite experience with Skyline, they came in on-schedule and within budget. Skyline's teams were professional, clean and came on the dates and times promised. Our contractor worked with us around our schedule and really tried to meet our every need, including getting our kitchen back to us as quickly as possible!. I would definitely use Skyline again in the future and I highly recommend them to anyone contemplating a major remodeling project! Our thanks to Eric, Moses, Ron, Alex, Javier, Ernesto and to the other members of the Skyline Construction team they are truly a professional and reliable company. It was a pleasure doing business with them and would not hesitate to call them again in the future.

We are extremely pleased with the way everything went. Eric's focus was on quality and customer satisfaction. He made several suggestions which resulted in a better finished product. The work progressed smoothly and all of the workmen were very professional. We could not be happier with the way the bathroom turned out.
Description of Work: We had a complete remodel of our master bathroom and powder room. We converted a sunken tub to a walk-in shower. This necessitated raising the old floor, ceiling, and shower head. They also built a stucco wall where we had a large glass window previously. The shower included a niche and a built in seat. We also put in a frame-less shower door, new tile throughout, vanities with granite counter tops, and a new toilet, sink, etc.

I responded to an Angie's List Big Deal promotion for $120 for 4 hrs of drywall repair. These guys were great. They showed up promptly on their promised time. Ron and Julio were very professional and efficient. They got a lot done in the short time window and the finishing work looks great. No complaints. Just high praise for a solid 4 hrs of contracted work. I am pleased with the workmanship and I will consider them for other projects.
Description of Work: Drywall repair. We had a series of holes in our drywall that measured average from 1 ft to 2 ft openings due to repair work we needed to do from behind the walls. 1 was a ceiling drywall patch, 1 was a wall patch, and we had to replaster a 4 ft x 2 ft section of wall before we can repaint the room.

Eric came to my house to give me an estimate on my downstairs bathroom. I asked what it would cost to have the tile removed from the kitchen and replaced with granite and have the tile replace on the fireplace. Eric gave me a deal on the three items. When he came with sample granite and suggested I consider replacing my cabinets as they were 25 years old. After seeing the sample cabinet I was hooked. My kitchen is now a showcase.

The coupon was basically for a deal for $799, they removed my existing linoleum tiles and replaced it with ceramic tiles. While they were here I spoke to them about doing my kitchen, which a very similar size. For $900, a $100 more than the bathroom, they did the same tiles and did the same thing with my kitchen. Actually while they were here doing the bathroom, I asked the guy, who was like a supervisor, if they could do the kitchen along with the bathroom. He ended up quoting a price and we had a contract. He did the bathroom and kitchen back to back. The guy, who did the tile work really enjoyed doing his job. He does it very very carefully and precisely. Actually in my bathroom it was straight line tiles and in the kitchen he suggested that we do it diagonally. I thought of it and I didn’t know it was an option. I thought it was going to be like the bathroom ones. He recommended and I liked it. It’s exactly the same tiles but it looks nicer it gives the effect of widths rather than length. He recommended that and he said it was an option; he would do it either way. He said it would be the same price and it was more work for him. They actually came on a Sunday because they ran out of time. It is very hard to get old tile up and put the wax ring so I could have the toilet Sunday morning, rather than wait till Monday. We cannot do work at my cottage on Sunday. He came on his own on the weekend just so that I would not be inconvenienced without having a toilet and I thought that spoke very well of him. The guy who did most of tile work was Eli. Everyone that came to work, worked really hard and they cleaned after themselves. They were very professional and very courteous. He was the main tile person and you can tell whether someone enjoyed what they were doing or are just doing it. I want to give a feedback to his supervisor that he really enjoys what he is doing and wants to do a precise job. I appreciate that. The pricing was excellent. It was a little frustrating because they did not communicate
Description of Work: Skyline Construction & Remodeling removed the existing linoleum tiles and replaced them with ceramic tiles in my bathroom and kitchen two weeks ago.

I do not plan on doing the work at this time.
Description of Work: Requested an estimate to use the Angies List coupon for a 10X10 kitchen for $9999. Very professional when they came to meet with me. Final estimate was in line with other estimates I have received. The $9999 is an incentive--it only includes certain things, so when they added up the other items (electrical, plumbing, etc.), the price was about double that. Still a good price. However, I won't be doing the work at this time.

These guys were great. Brought two painters and foreman. Got two coats done in about 6 hours. Trim and other non-painted surfaces were taped and protected appropriately. Work area was completely cleaned up afterward. Would definitely use again.
Description of Work: Painted a 14 x 12 bedroom, walls and ceiling, including slightly vaulted ceiling ridge.

We dealt with Moses, who was very professional throughout and only explained our options without being aggressive or pushy. Our experience was most positive, despite spending way more money than initially planned for bathroom flooring (due to discoveries made when prepping the floor...one suprise led to another, however we chose to replace fixtures and shower/tubs completely on our own). We recently had a leak one month after project completion and Moses arrived within hours to repair the problem, not even a charge for parts! Considering this company is in the Valley and we are in Orange County, I was very impressed...we would use them again without hesitation.
Description of Work: Started as a ceramic tile bathroom project, however numerous plumbing defects became obvious when floor was exposed, and we ended up performing re-models on 2 different (though connected) bathrooms.
