Description of Work: My original 1929 kitchen and alcove were transformed into a beautiful, modern kitchen with wonderful Shaker cabinets, high end stainless steel appliances, granite countertops and wood floors. What was started as a kitchen renovation turned into a complete renovation of two rooms, where there were a lot of innate problems along the way. All were professionally handled by Skyline workers. I couldn't be happier with the result and if I need further renovations, I will call Skyline.

 + -1 moreI would normally have done this work myself but I was very fortunate to find this offer as a Big Deal shortly after knee replacement surgery. It was very good therapy. The crew showed up on time, did the work as described (one coat, no trim) and were considerate and friendly. The were careful to get the paint on the walls and nowhere else. They pointed out a small area that would look better with a second coat and applied it. They were done ahead of schedule and they cleaned up after themselves. I couldn't be happier. No mention of prep work was made when I booked the job. If I had been paying full price, I would have expected the contractor to wash the walls first.
Description of Work: A simple paint job. Combination DR and LR in an old apartment about 30' x 12'. I did some prep work before they arrived: took down draperies, moved furniture to middle of room, vacuumed the walls and removed all switch plates.

I had a coupon for 3 hours of work and had to wait a couple of weeks to get an appointment, but the job was good, even though it took longer than expected because old grout had to be removed. (a messy job, which is why I didn't do it myself) Owner of company was amenable to worker staying an extra hour for the regular rate.

He had given us an estimate and discussed our remodel at length. He instilled confidence and right away we knew he was the right contractor. Eric is professional, always available, knowledgable in all areas, efficient, budget conscience, and creative. The entire remodel was finished on time. He was able to problem solve and find creative solutions and still stay within our budget. His team, including tilers, plumbers, and electricians were a pleasure to work with, professional, hard working and knowledgable, and performed outstanding work. His worker showed up promptly and was friendly and courteous. He explained what he could do to repair the grout before he started. He did a great job repairing the grout and educated me on the issue. He completed the job within the time frame he gave me and left the area very clean. I am very happy and would deffinately call them again.

 + 3 moreI am very pleased with the bathroom. We found the workmanship to be excellent. It turned out better than I had thought it would. The workers were always on time and for the most part worked efficiently. I like the smooth finish they put on the walls and their tile work was excellent. It all looks very nice. The only problem I had was the date of completion they gave me . It was twice as long as they told me but part of the problem was city inspector, They knew I needed to have it done on a certain date and after a while I knew that it wasn't going to happen.
Description of Work: Removed everything from the bathroom. We kept our toilet but replaced the sink and cabinet. Replace tub and put the shower head up higher and they installed ceramic tile around the tub and floors. Ceiling lights were replace and the electrician added two switches to control the light added over the tub and to control the fan. Replace medicine cabinet and mirror. Re plastered the walls and painted walls and doors. Added new baseboard.

 + -1 moreThe project was to take 4 to 5 weeks but it took 6 months. Aesthically the new kitchen looks good, but it was a trying experience. I rushed into signing up with Skyline Construction since it was only offered for a limited time at a reduced price. I did not properly check references. Not all t's were crossed or i's dotted in the contract.That is my fault. I had turned down other contractors because they were loacted too far away. Skyline Construction turned out to be farther away than the others. They rushed in after the contract was signed to demolition the kitchen but took forever to put it back together. I always met their deadlines but they hardly ever met theirs. I constantly cleaned up after them. Communication was very difficult at times due to a language barrier.
Description of Work: Complete kitchen remodel that included new porcelin tile floor, bamboo cabinets, replaced flourecent lighting with flat ceiling and 5 recessed 4" lights, relocated sink and plumbing and removed bar to extend counter. Demolition was brutal and started immediately after signup (3/29/2012). They preferred to hammer everthing down rather than take a screwdriver to remove a few screws to remove cabinets. I had to stop them at one point when they were ripping out and pounding with hammers beside the refrigerator for fear the refrigerator would be damaged. After several minutes of trying to communicate with them they removed 3 screws and the pantry lifted right out. Ceiling was redone due to using thicker dry wall thereby causing a non-flat ceiling. They told me my original ceiling was not flat. It still is not as flat as I would like it. Cabinets were supposed to go to the ceiling however when installing the cabinets they talked me into lowering them under pressure. My wife showed up and was not pleased. Cabinets were redone above the stove. Cabinets look OK but workmanship is poor internally due to having apprentice do some of the work. No regard for otherthings. Forinstance during finishing phase some cutting was done above the refrigertor and they went to blow the sawdust behind the refrigerator. Also no bag on the saw, dust went all over the patio and plants. Poor workmanship in reconstructing pony wall. Poor knowledge of other trades. Plumber was very crude probably due to under pressure, worked late without lights finally I had to supply lighting so he could see what he was doing. I volunterred and helped him clean up since he was not going to do a good job. Again no regard for other things forinstance they had cut into the furnace closet to rout the gas to the stove. All kinds of debris was left under the air inlet to heater. I later cleaned this all out. Phone line was cut disabling all the phones, I had that repaired.

 + 0 moreSkyline Construction was one of the most professional business' I have ever dealt with. We were told when they would start and they arrived on that day to begin. They told us how much tile we would need and we had very little left over after the job was done. Each day they cleaned up and when they were done they took all the trash away. Moses and Eric always called us back when we had any questions and we felt we were in very good hands. They were honest and worked hard to give us a bathroom we would be proud of and I still stand at the door and appreciate how beautiful it is.
Description of Work: Our bathroom was very old and had been remodeled long ago by a non professional. We couldn't afford to get it remodeled until we joined Angie's List and saw Skyline Construction's ad for a bathroom makeover. The first day they took off all the tiles. The next day they gutted the room. The only thing we kept was our toilet and bathtub. They were very patient with us as I added things to be put into the shower. They did not charge us any extra. They helped us plan where to put the accent tiles in the shower and put the two shelves and two bars in the right place. They put up the new light fixture, vanity and medicine cabinet. They put in a mosaic tile floor that had a lot of grouting. It looks beautiful. They painted and put up the small fixtures like toilet paper holder and towel bar.

 + -1 morePainters arrived 8am and left at about 3:45pm, with a 30 minute lunch break. Overall, the painters were very pleasant, worked efficiently to get quite a bit accomplished in the time alloted, and did a pretty good job on the painting. My only concerns had to do with neatness, and I probably could have provided better supervision---but a lot of the peeling paint they scaped from the trim was left where it landed all over the patio and around the house. Additionally--one of the painters pulled his car up onto my driveway directly in front of my front door, and after he left I found a saucer-sized puddle of motor oil where his car had been parked (5 ft from entry)---which unfortunately was tracked all over the driveway by my husband--who did not see it when he came in from work and drove through it entering the garage before I had had a chance to clean it up. But, all in all--since I had decided to try out purchasing a coupon for a defined period of work, I was OK with doing some of the clean-up myself; and I think the painters would have cleaned it had I noticed it before they left.. It was great to get the whole job done in one day. However in the future I think I would rather get an estimate for a job, instead of purchasing a coupon for a certain number of hours, so I would better know in advance what to expect.
Description of Work: 2 painters for 1 day. Work entailed touch-up to exterior house wood trim on my 2000sq. ft. ranchstyle house and garage--which had been completely repainted by another company 3 years prior. This included scraping/priming as needed to some areas of peeling or chipped paint here and there on one 20 ft stretch of wood fascia over the garage door and another 8 ft stretch of fascia on a different surface--and then repainting these fascias; with similar touchup to 4 large beam ends, as well as a few spots here and there on a wood-trimmed garden window 2 wooden sliding doors, and numerous wood frame windows/window sills around the house. In addition, a 7x7 ft wooden divider fence between front door and atrium garden was completely repaineted. Also a 5x8ft area of wood siding, that had bubbled paint from excess sun exposure, was sanded and repainted with 2 coats of exterior paint. I provided all primer/paint, which was water-based. Brushes, rollers, scrapers, sander were provided by painters. I had prepped the house by brushing off all exterior dirt and dust and removing all webs/etc prior to the painting.

 + 0 moreI guess I hadn't read the fine print, but I was to supply my own grout cleaner. I find that very strange! I am glad I called for information or I wouldn't have been prepared. I asked which grout cleaner to buy and was told it didn't matter, a strange answer. I shopped around, wasting a great deal of time and I finally bought expensive cleaner that didn't work at all. The worker who came over worked hard and fortunately had some of his own ONE DOLLAR cleaner that worked quite well. But he ran out of it. He also had to borrow a bucket from me. He also had to borrow towels from me. And after he left I discovered he used my kitchen brush that I use on silverware and dishes! Not good! Not nice! He didn't ask (I would have said NO!). He was scheduled to come over around noon or 1 PM but the day before the appointment I got a message on my machine reminding me of my 9 AM appointment. We did NOT have a 9 AM appointment! He worked for the three hours, and worked hard. The job was not done and I offered to pay him to do more, but he didn't have any more of the grout cleaner and he didn't have the time, so he left with the job half done. I'll finish it myself with the cleaner I then bought at the 99 Cent Store (it's called "L.A.'s Totally Awesome"). So this hard worker showed up hours early, unprepared. (What he cleaned he did clean well.) And the man I talked to on the phone had no clue as to what cleaner was good and what cleaner was bad. Other than the hard work the worker put in, and a good job of replacing old caulking (with grout), this was far more aggravation than it was worth.
Description of Work: I paid $89 for three hours of grout cleaning and caulking, a fair price. The worker replaced some caulking and cleaned some grout in the bathroom.

 + -1 moreuThe worker arrived at the arranged time, brought all his own tools and supplies, and was very respectful and courteous. He took his time doing high quality work, and cleaned up thoroughly afterwards. The results were excellent looking. We had numerous areas where due to age and possibly earthquakes tile grout in bathrooms and the kitchen had cracked and/or fallen out. I learned the hard way that you should never let this get too bad or you can end up replacing an entire wall of tile. The repairs made these areas look as good as new.
Description of Work: Regrouting and recaulking of some tile in two bathrooms and a kitchen. This was an Angie's List Big Deal.

 + -1 moreWhen I first called to arrange the service after purchasing the BIG DEAL 2-3 weeks passed by and I had not heard back from the company. I had to call a second time. Once the appointment was made, it all went well. Julio was early -- and waiting for me when I got home! He assessed the project, told me he couldn't promise that the grout would clean up, but rather might need replacement, then he got to work! Time was well budgeted and he seemed to know what he was doing. I had to make a run to purchase more grout, and he was very clear as to what I should get. RESULT: The shower looks great! The kitchen backsplash look much better!
Description of Work: The caulking in the kitchen (behind the sink/backsplash) was restored. Shower floor grout was restored.

The serviceman came on time, was courteous, professional, did exactly what I needed, no more, no less, worked quickly and efficiently and didn't try to sell me anything. All in all, I was very satisfied and would use this company again.
Description of Work: The tile in my kitchen was partly missing in heavily used areas as well as dirty. At this time I didn't want to replace the counter top or spend a lot of money regrouting the entire area.
