It took a while to get an appointment because we needed it to be on a Saturday. We scheduled a month or so in the future. The first appointment had to be rescheduled by them so it was pushed back 3 more weeks. We met with Eric who was quite professional and nice at the meeting, seemed quite knowledgeable, and took time to understand what we wanted done and make recommendations. The bathroom falls under the 5 x 8 size for the small bathroom project (close to 4.5 x 5.5 with an additional 3 x 3 shower area). We also looked at pictures of previous work he had done which were quite impressive. Eric explained that the shower would cost extra since the deal includes a bathtub rather than a shower and that a hot mop shower pan and special waterproofing material would be needed for the shower that were not required with the bathtub. We expected some additional cost for the shower. He also suggested we move up the shower head about a foot, and we discussed putting in a niche in the shower wall to hold shampoo and soap rather than mounting one that sticks out from the shower wall. We were to get the floor and shower tiled and the total amount of tiling came out to a little more than the 100 sq feet included in the deal so that would be some additional cost. The walls in the bathroom also were not looking very uniform from patching that had been done over time so he suggested we have them float the walls. We also wanted a glass door installed in the 3 x 3 shower and he was going to include that door and associated hardware and labor in his price. We asked for him to itemize all the additional items so we would know exactly how much each item costs and could pick and choose to make it fit our budget. Eric then deducted the 1200 for materials included in the deal and told us we'd just purchase all our own materials (except for the glass door with hardware and hot mop shower pan and associated materials) and pay his company for the labor and materials for those two items. We knew the fixtures and materials we had to purchase would come in higher than the 1200 -- tile, grout, vanity, small linen closet, light fixtures, new fan, mirror, etc. He also said he could not cut the linen closet to fit into the corner as his company would not do work like that in this bathroom remodel. He then gave us a price. At the time, it was hard to figure out what the bottom line would be and we signed, but after he left and we looked at the pricing and had no individual line item pricing for the additions to the remodel, we were confused on why the cost went up that much. We felt that it was much higher than we expected, being $6011 extra above the cost of the deal ($750 down with a $4799 remodel) bringing the cost without the $1200 for materials to $9610. This put the cost of our bathroom up to $10,810 not including materials (except the shower door and hot mop shower pan and surround protection they would provide). We thought we were going to spend $7,000 to $9,000 on this bathroom with the special deal, and this would bring the cost of this bathroom up to $13,000 to $15,000. It was hard to see any discount in this price for such a small bathroom remodel. We voiced our concerns by email to Eric, created and sent him a spreadsheet with extra items included and requested that he provide us an itemization of the prices on the additional items so we could better understand the price increase and could pick and choose which items we ultimately needed to try to get the cost back to within our budget. He again sent us a list of the extra items and stated that those were necessary to complete a quality bathroom project. We were confused as to why he refused to provide the individual prices for the additional items as we requested. At that point, I called Angie's List to find out what we needed to do to cancel the project and also sent an email to Eric to let him know we would cancel. He sent a nice email saying he was sorry he could not provide us with the beautiful bathroom we wanted. We signed the cancellation line on the contract and mailed it to the company's address. We requested a refund from Angie's List. We left this experience feeling annoyed and frustrated. Now we are back at ground zero after months of time gone. It feels like a bait and switch to us.
Description of Work: He came and gave us an estimate for bathroom work on a small bathroom with the purchase of the Big Deal for half price bathroom remodeling.

Hello Member, i am sorry you feel like this, but the coupon you purchased is very detailed as to what's included and what not. i came over for no additional charge, and gave you a very good price for the additional work you wanted, the price i gave you was LESS than the original full price of the coupon for a bigger job than it included. a day after you signed the contract you decided that you can not do the project and canceled it, and you received a full refund, no charge to you. i wish you good luck with your project.

They did one room. There was a wall that needed to be redone. It was quick. They did what we asked them to do. The person was knowledgeable about what he was doing and the wall looked great when it was done. They were not trying to sell us anything extra. The knew what we needed and they were efficient. The price was good.

The work performed was not to my satisfaction and I really wouldn't use this specific service again. For the price you have to provide the materials like the grout and they will bring tools. This seems fair for that price. Don't expect 3 hours to cover it or at least it did not with Skyline. Some of the issues I found with the service are below: 1) The tile person that came was nice but it took him all 3 hours to regrout the floor of my walk in shower (4' x 7') area and a few upper tiles. 2) When he was done I questioned him about the color of the grout because it looked white in some areas, he said that's because it is still wet. Once it dries it will look like the rest. The grout did not dry the same color. In fact the new grout that he mixed was darker in some areas and lighter (nearly white in others) I thought this was because it had not dried completely. Shortly after the work was performed we went on vacation for 10 days and when we came back the grout still had this random color pattern, so we're sure the grout was not mixed properly. Not good! 3) the grout line he made on the floor of the shower where the floor meets the sides was nearly twice as thick as the other grout lines, so not only did we have discolored grout the thickness stood out. 4) He said he couldn't finish because he didn't have enough time, but in 3 hours all he did was the floor...buyer beware. For $89, I was not about to call and go through it all again. They are not easy to reach and you usually need to leave a message for a call back. Lessen learned...if it sounds to good it is too good. My suggestion, hire a skilled professional, have him give you a quote for the work and don't pay more then 10% until the work is done to the scope you provided.
Description of Work: Skyline basically provides you with the labor for 3 hours to clean and replace grout.

Service provider was courteous. The job was performed in a satisfactory manner, however, I requested a 'mildew inhibitor' be used with the caulking and offered to purchase any additional supplies. I also offered to pretreat the area if necessary. The provider assured me that they would have all the required supplies, that I need not purchase any additional mildew treatment products. They said pretreatment would also be unnecessary. Consequently the caulking became discolored only about 2 months following the replacement. The mildew issue is not the fault of the provider. 2 months may be the expected lifetime of a re-caulking job. I am unsure as to whether or not I missed an opportunity to get better results or whether the provider missed an opportunity to better suggest better repair strategies and maybe a future or extended job.

Unfortunately, I was not able to be there when the work was done, but my niece was. She said he was nice and quick. I paid for 4 hours of service and he finished in less than an hour.. I wish I had more for him to do. I have a second bathroom that needed some work, but I couldn't be without both of my bathrooms. I may call them when the time comes to do that bathroom.

Love this company! As always, they arrived on time. I explained all the areas in my bathroom and kitchen that needed caulking and grouting. I had paid for 3 hours of service, but I had no idea what he could accomplish in that amount of time. But he worked carefully and quickly and was able to finish everything. He also cleaned up nicely.

At first I rated this company a "B", but my opinion and rating have now changed to an "A++++". Let me tell you why. I hired them on an Angies List special...4 hours of plaster work. I had a few areas that needed to be fixed and re-patched in my home interior. The plaster man was on time and was competent, but the job was not done or completed to my satisfaction; The plaster did not have time to dry and I was left with having to sand the areas myself. I was not happy about this and should have called the office to complain and work something out. But I didn't. Instead, I gave them a "B" rating on Angies List. Then I got contacted by Eric. He saw that I had given them a "B" rating and wanted to find out why and what they could do to satisfy me. I explained why I was not happy with the job and without hesitation he sent his plasterer out to complete the job to my satisfaction! WITH NO COST TO ME! This is the first time a company has contacted me on their own to make me happy with their work. I didn't give them a "C" or "D" rating, this was for a "B" rating. But it bothered them so much that they reached out to me and fixed things. I think this speaks volumes and would use Skyline Construction again in a heart beat! I highly recommend!

The service didn't go went at all. They actually never completed the project. We had to meet with them and agree to just let them go and they won't charge us anything because it was just a horrible experience with them. They didn't know what they were doing. They didn't finish the project in time so we gave them many extensions. They gave us some granite countertop that was all cracked up and they tried to convince us with things and they finally replaced it. There's was one person who put the cabinets in the kitchen and did not complete them. It was a half-finished job. The owner of the company let the project manager go because it was just not working out and he wanted to apologize for all of that.

Response from Skyline Construction & Remodeling
This project, along with few other projects we had with this supervisor in 2012, was managed by a former field supervisor of ours named Moshe "Moses" Ovadia. Mr. Ovadia was fired from our company over 6 months ago , after working for us for about a year, due to poor project management and customer relations skills. after learning about the issues with this project, I met with the home owner in an attempt to resolve the issues they had, and decided to replace the whole granite counter top that came with some hair line cracks from the stone supplier, with a new granite counter, for no additional costs to the home owner. I am very happy with Mr. Ovadia's replacement whom has a much better skills in managing projects and communicating with customers. Thanks, Eric, Owner.

I last worked with them last summer. I did end up paying them more but taking the deal I understood that it was a way to get in the door and that we would pay for upgrades and that was okay. However, I think that buying the coupon aspects of it limited us because we didn't go through a formal quoting process as a result. I would do the coupon again because of that. When I bought the coupon it didn't give me an opportunity to do competitive bidding. That one aspect I’m not crazy about of that thing so I don’t know if I would do that again. It became a much bigger project than what the coupon quoted. The work they provided was very good. The craftsman they brought in was very good, we’re happy with the work that was done. I was not particularly thrilled with the communication aspect and the planning part of it. I project managing for living so I maybe more critical than most people. The work was very well done. We were very happy with the quality of the work.

The guy that came out is Julio. He made the grout look very nice. He was a very nice man and he did his thing, and when he left I was very pleased. The remodel was purchased as an Angies, "Big Deal" and the best thing was working with Eric from Skyline Construction. The other thing about Skyline and Eric is they will communicate via email with response times usually in a few hours even during weekends. Eric asked and I stated I preferred email. I guess the first question is how did our $9000.00 deal turn out to be a $22000 project. Part do to kitchen being 10X20 instead of 10X10 quoted in the deal, then the addition of the window replacement not part of the deal. We received credit for flooring and lighting included in the deal which we used to upgrade the cabinets. The cabinets were changed to solid maple replacing lower cupboards for pull-out drawings, including pull outs in the pantry. Even added a lazy susan for that cabinet with the blind corner where your pots are lost forever. The job wasn't without its problems but they were all addressed and fixed by Skyline Construction. I will list the problems below and the solutions provided. 1. Demolition. The demolition was done while we were on vacation. This was our choice and when returned the kitchen was bare but one of the water lines was leaking, not enough to cause an issue but an annoyance. An email to Eric, and a plumber was here the next day to fix the problem. 2. Cabinet installation As the lower cabinets were being installed, it was obvious that they were too tall as they did not line up with the garden window and would have been several inches higher that the slide in stove which we did not replaced. Contacted Eric, he stopped the installation and was out the next morning. Eric was willing to remove the garden window and move it up or rebuild the cabinets. My idea was to compromise, Eric put 3/4 plywood in the garden window to raise it a little and they removed the cabinets and lowered the toe kick area. Wife was happy as none of the drawers had to be made smaller. 3. Staining We had some issues with staining, partly because of our mis-understanding. The color was right but the consistency was not to our liking. The stainers worked with us until we were happy. Kitchen is done and we are very happy. Of course my wife decided to move stuff around so I still open the wrong cupboard door to get a glass.
Description of Work: Almost a complete kitchen remodel. Did not include changing flooring or ceiling lighting. The lighting had been recently upgraded and we wanted to keep the original oak solid wood flooring. The kitchen was gutted, new custom wood cabinets with granite counter tops and tile back splash were installed. In addition the garden window was replaced with a new garden window. We did not change the configuration of the kitchen although we made the pantry a little wider with expense of loosing counter space. This required the refrigerator to be moved slightly.

Eric was wonderful. I met with Eric after work and felt he would give me the kitchen I wanted and he did. We had previously been ripped off by a contractor. But I trusted Eric and he did a wonderful job. It's hard to believe he was able to turn a horrific kitchen into a kitchen I'm proud of. It was worth every penny. This was not a simple makeover the kitchen had to be started over. The house was built in 1924 and nothing had been done since then. New drywalls, paint, fixtures, everything was replaced. I would definitely recommend Skyline Construction and will use this company for my bathroom remodel next year. (April 23, 2015 update) I have since sold that house but one thing I really miss in my kitchen. I didn't realize how much I started enjoying that house after I moved because of the new kitchen. Thanks Skyline Construction.

Description of Work: I recently had my entire house rewired leaving significant holes in every room. Also, since my drywall is textured that added to the complexity of the work. Below is the work that I had completed 1. Patched and textured all of the opening's through out the house (approximately 5 areas in each room mostly around the outlets and light switches) 2. Repainted the entire interior of the house 3. Crown molding installed in two bedrooms 4. Removed an old phone box on the outside of the house and repaired the stucco where the box was
