Description of Work: Super great service. Very personable. I called john because my previous pool service company was unable to fix my spa jets. There was a clog. The previous servicer went out three times he went in with a camera scope and his final determination to me was that it was unfixable. John came out and fixed it in 20 minutes. Needless to say he is our new pool guy.

Description of Work: After seeing that last review calling Jeff dishonest, I knew I had to get my act together and write the review I've been meaning to write. After firing my nice but incompetent pool guy, I started looking for a replacement who could get rid of the algae (both black and green) and generally get my pool in shape. The first person I called, recommended by a friend, quoted me an amount to dump a bunch of chemicals in the pool to get the algae under control. Then I called Jeff based on the reviews on Angie's List. He responded to my call very quickly. He did a thorough evaluation, including chemical tests. I told him the pool was leaking, and needed replastering, and that a pool remodel was in our near future. Jeff said he really wouldn't feel good about starting any service until we had the leaks repaired because the chemicals he put in would just be drained away, and I would be wasting my money. I thought this was a sign of his HONESTY and INTEGRITY. He offered to hook me up with a leak detection service (but we already had one we'd used before), and a pool plastering company he recommended. We ended up remodeling our pool now since the leaks were due to the major cracks in the plaster, and although we went with a different contractor than the one Jeff recommended, we appreciated his efforts to help us. Jeff may not be the cheapest pool service out there, but the integrity and helpfulness he displayed is what made us decide to hire him to do our monthly service once the pool remodel is finished next week. I trust him!

 + -1 moreThe pool servicer I inherited with the house I purchase gradually turned my pool into a sewer. He was incompetent. He overcharged, he didn't show up, he damaged equipment, and when algae grew everywhere he treated it with acid that burned our eyes, ruined my heater and filter, and made swimming torture. I fired him and called Best Pools based on Angie's List recommendations. I have yet to go wrong with Angie's List and this was no exception. The owner, Jeff, came out the next day and within minutes clearly explained exactly what I needed to turn things around. It was so clear that he knew what he was doing that I hired him on the spot. He did not push or over-sell, just clearly explained what was necessary. Jeff came out two days later and did the work, telling me that it might take up to two weeks (that's what a disaster my pool was) for it to take effect. It took one day. My pool, which my previous pool servicer told me was impossible to keep clean because of the overhanging trees and a thousand other excuses, was sparkling clear the next day. I dove in and swam for an hour, expecting to come out of the water with burning eyes. How wrong I was. The algae was gone, the PH was perfect, the water was so clear I could see the face on a a coin on the bottom of the pool, the equipment was working perfectly, and my eyes looked like I'd just put Visine in them. Best of all, the monthly fee is exactly what I was paying the guy who turned my pool into a sewer. You will not go wrong with Best Pools.
Description of Work: Cleaned pool coated with algae, determined what was needed to keep my pool and equipment, both of which were practically destroyed by the lazy, incompetent pool servicer I'd inherited with the house I'd purchased, balanced operating perfectly.

 + -1 moreWe have had bad luck in the past with pool maintenance vendors who say they can do the job and then are unreliable and unprofessional. Our pool is old but still in working condition and needs weekly maintenance that we just cannot do ourselves. Jeff quoted us a great rate for weekly maintenance and helped us to problem solve poor suction issues with our pump and fix them too. Not only is he knowledgeable when it comes to pools, maintenance and cleaning, he is a reliable, professional and pleasurable person. It is hard to trust people to work on your home because there are so many vendors out there that just don't stand by their work. So, when you come across someone like Jeff, I feel lucky and will continue to recommend him to anyone.

I had some immediate issues to solve at the beginning including a seemingly dead motor which my previous service took days to deal with and as of yet had no answer. I called Jeff at Best Pools. He was out the day I called him and diagnosed the problem immediately and repaired it a day later for the cost of a service call (I was thinking I had to replace the old motor). He was very accomodating for the time slot we preferred and is actually servicing the pool himself for the time being. He is punctual, the pool always looks great and if I happen to see him when he shows up, he is very friendly and easy to be around yet always respectful. This is perfect! A+
Description of Work: Best Pools was my first attempt at using Angie's List about 6 weeks ago. Its owner, Jeff, is friendly, reliable, incredibly knowledgable and experienced and all that I think a business owner/provider should be. (I should add that, to date, I've contacted and hired 3 businesses through Angie's List and so far I'm batting 1000% !! I love this website!) I essentially was looking to replace our then current pool service which was not living up to my standards. I had employed them for years and and over time, the servicemen became less reliable and the company's responsiveness was less than adequate. I'm very forgiving but I had reached my limit. So, having heard of Angie's List, I decided to find a pool service in my area. I simply found who was closest and had the best grades and reviews. Best Pools topped the list and now I know why!

 + -1 moreBest Pools is the most competent and knowledgeable pool company that we have experienced since we moved into this rental several months ago. We have had a parade of service people (at least 5) that have given us conflicting stories about how our controls operate and how much we had to spend to replace "faulty" equipment. Other companies indicated we must spend over $1000.00 to fix the situation. Jeff Steinbach was the first and only company that finally helped us reach a point where we can enjoy our pool/spa. This was for a mere service call of $85.00!
Description of Work: The owner, Jeff Steinbach, answered all of our questions and concerns about the operation of our 30+ year old pool/spa, in our rental house, professionally and clearly in great detail. One of the issues was that our pool blower was making grinding noises and we thought it had to be replaced immediately. Much to our surprise he did not try to sell us a new blower and actually told us truthfully that it was still operating correctly and we did not need to spend the money yet! He was the first in a series at least five other pool companies that evaluated the operation of our pool, that actually understood the mechanics and could explain all of the "old fashioned" and outdated controls. We were thrilled!

JEFF TOOK CARE OF ALL OF IT FOR US AND IT WAS INSTALLED PROMPTLY AND BEAUTIFULLY. MONTLY SERVICE RATES ARE ALSO VERY AFFORDABLE AND WE LOOK FORWARD TO WORKING WITH THEM FOR A LONG TIME.

Description of Work: I wanted to let other people know that Jeff was the ONLY contractor that did phone us back, (isn't that amazing?!) and was prompt and friendly when he returned my call. Because we are having to choose a different company to service our pool, we felt in fairness to the other company that called back first, to try them. However, if they don't work out, I will be calling Jeff based on how quickly he responded, and the other reports here that confirm what we hope will be a good experience should we use them.

 + -1 moreI received various referrals for pool service. Called various companies. Believe it or not, none responded. So I logged on the Angie's list and saw info on Best Pools. Call Jeff and he responded right a way. Scheduled the following Wednesday to inspect the pool and provide a quote for pool service. He spent quite a bit of time, testing water chemistry, inspecting equipment, toss old chemicals and old equipment for us. He answered our questions in detail. Francisco, his staff, comes promptly every week to clean our pool. Professional and courteous. In addition, Jeff always come by and check on our pool as well, making sure our pool sweeper and equipment is working properly.
Description of Work: Bought a new home with pool. Jeff came and checked the pool water, inspected all pool equipment, provided advice on how to maintain the pool. Quoted price for pool service.

 + -1 morePrior to finding Best Pools were we changing pool service companies about once per year. Many companies will advertise a certain rate and then add in a number of extra charges each month. We also had numerious companies that started out great and then either assigned a new person to our account who had no idea what they were droing, or the route was sold to someone else. Best Pools has been reliable and consisent for 10 years. For the past 10 years our pool has been taken care of in a professional and friendly manner. We get the personal attention we need, when we need it. Jeff has always been responsive and helpful in solving any issue that has arisen. The fact they we are still using Best Pools after 10 years really says it all.
Description of Work: Best Pools has been cleaning and servicing our pool for the past 10 years. They are here once per week without fail. The pool and spa equipment is checked every week and Jeff alerts us to any problems that might need attention. Unlike the quick service companies we have had in the past, Jeff does a full pool cleaning and check each week including chemicals, sweeping down the tile, checking the equipment, vacumming the pool, etc. If we are having a special event or party, Jeff is willing to make a special visit the day before to make sure everything is perfect. We have also used Best Pools for repairs of such things as replacing the pool/spa lights, electrical problems, getting gopher remains out of the pool sweep, and calibrating the remote control spa/pool control system. Another great thing about Jeff and Best Pools is that they are OK with dogs (and we have 2 large dogs). They take special care to insure that our dogs do not get out of the gate.

 + -1 moreWhat a relief to find a very up front pool service. Mr. Steinbach was honestly open with whether I should spend money now or later. He mentioned that I didn't need to spend money on another pump when I had been advised by other pool services that I was in danger of damaging my pool if I didn't change out all the pumps at the same time. Mr. Steinbach informed me that wasn't necessary to spend that money now. He also informed me of some money saving ways to keep my pool crystal clear and free of algie. Needless to say he's my monthly pool service man now. It was overall very refreshing and comforting to have trust in what was needed and not needed especially in these economic times. As a matter of fact I had him tune up my pool with some energy proper equipment and now it runs efficiently. It was also very assuring and comfortable to know that he is a licensed contractor. I might also note how courteous and polite he was explaining it all to my wife and myself. And, when he said he was going to be there, he was a few minutes early.
Description of Work: I had a rattling in one of the pumps in the pool. I had gotten several bids and his seemed the most fair and he was most informative. We also upgraded our heater and filter.
