California Chimney Sweep

Vince, the owner of California Chimney Sweep, and his crew arrived at the time promised and they were very friendly. I called them to place caps on the chimneys but they inspected all the chimneys and fireplaces thoroughly and recommended repairs/services that would maximize the use and efficiency of my fireplaces. Vince was NEVER pushy nor pushed the "hard sell." It was obvious, they were experienced in the business and professionals. I was very satisfied with service they provided and will use them for other services they provide (dryer vent cleaning and sealing flashing).

Very punctual, and my wife stated that they were really pleasant to her, explaining all the cleaning work they were doing and then fully explaining the inspection details. No pressure sales for them to do the work recommended, and in fact gave us information and a pamphlet on how we could do the chimney mortar/brick sealing ourselves. Provided us with additional details on cleaning the interior brick.

They were great. He was very informative. I think he was the owner if I'm not mistaken. He gave me a lot of tips as far as how to keep it clean and how to use my chimney because I really haven't used it before. The price was fairly reasonable for what he did.

They called because they were running late. We were pleasantly surprised when they arrived because Vince was dressed like the chimney sweep man from Mary Poppins, clever! They inspected the chimney and noted that there was some water marks. Upon further inspection it was noted that the grout was old and water was coming in from that area. Tim and Vince showed up on time. They, each, inspected my chimney inside making sure the damper was in good working order. Protection was placed on the floor and the equipment was brought in. The cleaning was done from the inside and from the outside Vince was busy inspecting and cleaning. They were thorough, answered all my questions and left the area VERY clean. I appreciated their professionalism. I'm so glad I used them. I would gladly recommend this company and will keep their card so I can call them again!!!

Vince and his son showed up on time, were professionally friendly, took appropriate steps to keep the interior of the house clean, and took their time to ensure they performed a complete and thorough cleaning and safety inspection.

Tim spent a great deal of time reducing the size of my fireplace opening with a combination of aluminum foil and heat-resistant tape and found the maximum size and shape of the opening that would work. (My fireplace opening is 50" wide.) I will do further experiments to make sure it is drawing well as soon as the weather cools a bit, then seek a custom screen that will block off the proper amount of space.

Very nice and professional. Tim answered all my questions and actually checked another chimney in my house, even though I had only asked him to impact one. I was worried about Tim (and partner) getting soot in my clean house. I shouldn't have worried. They left the room spotless--no soot anywhere! This was a great experience. On a fun note; my kids loved seeing the "Sweeps" in their old-fashioned chimney sweep hats--they thought Bert from Mary Poppins was cleaning their chimney!

The two workmen did a thorough, efficient job. They discovered a flaw in my damper (which I suspected) and were unable to fix it. They provided an estimate for a replacement.

Vince and his assistant arrived on time and went right to work. We expected that both fireplaces/chimneys would need cleaning but were told that only one needed it (so that saved us half of the original estimate). They where very professional. No hard sell on suggested repairs and installation of gas logs. Will definitely have them back to make the necessary repairs and install the new gas log set (they even offered to pick it up and the manufacturer).

Went very well, chimney passed inspection, was cleaned, and we received advice on how to keep it clean (attempt to use 50/50 natural wood vs. commercial logs (Duraflame).

They were fantastic. Two servicemen arrived within the window agreed upon, complete with Mary Poppin's top hat (nice charming touch). They introduced themselves and welcomed our very curious pack of dogs. They told us exactly what they were going to do and even informed us when their vacuum might be loud. They were in and out in about a half hour to 45 minutes and the chimney area was cleaner after they left then when they arrived. They provided detailed information about our chimney and the how often we should have it cleaned based on the volume of wood we may burn a year etc. I would recommend their services (and have already) without hesitation.

It went very well. Vince came and cleaned out our fireplace and chimney. He found a crack that will need to be repaired, but didn't pressure us to do the repair right then. He told us when the crack gets big enough that a dime can fit into it is when it's time to do it. He told us the approximate cost, so we would know what to expect. Vince explained the option of the chimney cap,and I opted to purchase that. It looks nice on top of my chimney. He also took a good amount of time explaining how to properly build and light a fire. How to alternate between Duraflame and wood to avoid a wax buildup. Also what is appropriate to use to satrt the fire, and the importance of keeping 2 large boxes of baking soda on hand if using Duraflame logs. It was firestarting 101. In all, a good experience for a newly widowed woman.

The owner was very flexible on arrival times which made it nice and easy for us to work around our work schedules. Received a call from the office to confirm and they arrived during their 3 hour window. Cleaned chimney, performed inspection and installed chimney cap and explained that we had some repairs to cracks and holes to make. This is a great professional to work with. I would definitely recommend this company to my friends and family.

Tim and Ian were very professional and completed all the work during this one visit. As it turned out, had I tried to install the gas log set and screen myself, I would have run into installation problems that Tim(due to his extensive experience) was able to solve and install everything correctly, I also want to point out that I was squeezed into a very busy work schedule and the folks at California Chimney Sweep called to verify work dates and arrived as scheduled . The service was worth every penny. I was very pleased with the service provided and will use this company again.

I took advantage of the chimney sweep special offered by California Chimney Sweep. I received an email and call verifying my order and scheduling of a date for the work to be completed. The team from the company arrived as scheduled, cleaned the chimney, and conducted an inspection of the fireplace and chimney. The team was very professional and made sure they covered the living room floor before completing the work. They also located an issue with the chimney cap; I have scheduled them to repair the cap and install a gas log. I was extremely pleased with the work, and as can be seen above-had the confidence in the company to have them do some additional work.

Tim and Vince arrived on time and listened to my explanation of the condition of my fireplace and chimney. They explained their business process that would solve the condition and offered ideas that would enhance my future remodeling project. Tim and Vince were expert professionals providing a fast, clean and efficient solution for my fireplace and chimney.

Vince and his brother Tim were very careful removing furniture and a rug and neatly prepared the area around the fireplace. They did an excellent job inside and out. They also educated us on the components of the fireplace, showed us how to take and put back the glass doors. Vince advised us on which products to use to clean the glass of the doors and how to update the brass on the doors with barbecue spray paint. Both of them were friendly and we were pleased with the finish work.

All three of the staff (Vince, Tim and Doug) were very friendly and professional and had a high craft standard. They let me know about options along the way without pressuring me to expand the job. I expect to call them back in the future to install a new firescreen.

They were great. They were not only 100% professional, but they also went through great lenghts to explain to me what was happening with my chimney, and what they were going to be doing, and what preventative steps I could take to maintain my chimney. They also gave me a number of options and walked me through it, and we are in a situation here where there is a 3rd party involved, and they need to approve any work that is done on the house, and they were so good at explaining to the 3rd party as well.

After making an appt I received a confirmation call a few days before. The arrival time was right on. The entire process ran about 1 1/2 hours since I have a two story house. I was told about work that needed to be done at the top of my chimney and I fully intend to hire this company to come out in February to perform the work. I have referred them to my niece and would recommend them to anyone who is looking for an honest business who can be counted on.
