Top Shelf Delivery and Moving

They shrunk wrapped everything and had enough people to move the items without incident. They did a great job and I would definitely recommend them.

I think it went well. The guys did a good job and moved everything in the time-frame I asked them to. There was nothing wrong with any of the work they did.

It went great. They were on time and careful with our items. We are not in their territory for the delivery, but they made an exception for us. Very reasonable on the cost that took them 4 hours round trip out of their way for a small move.

Went smooth and guys are always helpful and on time

This is the second time that I used Top Shelf Moving. The truck showed up on time and also called ahead to let me know how far away they were. The moving team worked quickly but handled everything very carefully. I am so impressed with the men that worked on both my moves. They were professional and checked with me to see what went where. I would hire them again in a heartbeat! Thanks for all the hard work.

I had three pieces of furniture damaged by the movers. One was a very expensive dining table that was left with several deep gouges - one being approx. 6 inches. One damaged piece I caught right away and the mover "repaired" it that day. The other pieces I didn't discover until the next day when we started moving stuff out of the way. I immediately called to report this to the owner. He seemed responsive. I then got two halfhearted phone calls back from the lead mover as an attempt to fix the problem. It has been almost 4 weeks and nothing has been done. I paid in cash and generously tipped the movers. I have no other recourse than to leave a negative review.

Great, Roy was super professional. He handled all the details of our office furniture move great. Scheduling was easy and his movers showed up on time and worked efficiently to get us set up in our new office. I would recommend Roy and his company anytime.

Bizarre. Was talked into a crew of three. They arrived complaining about the guards at the gate. As I showed them around the house, they rolled their eyes at everything. They worked in the bedroom for quite some time. Then the owner, Roy, called and said he was pulling his crew because the house was covered in feces and urine! I asked him in what room was this so-called feces, and he said "in every room." Such an outrageous and obviously false accusation! I asked the worker who seemed to be in charge where was this poop, and he pointed to a spot in the kitchen where the trash can and recycling cans had stood, and there was a slight discoloration. We said that is from the trash, and we wiped it off, obviously not poop. So I asked him where else was this poop, and he said "that's the only spot." A far cry from "in every room" as Roy had claimed, and it didn't look anything like feces. Then the guy says "you were not ready for us, call us when you are ready." Well, why would he want to come back if the house was a health hazard? And if you are billing so much per hour, you would think that you would welcome that extra time charged, doing the light work. When I called another moving company (Joe Movers), because of our horrible experience with Top Shelf, we told them there was lots of heavy furniture and the piano. They said no problem, it would only take two men (Top Shelf talked me into 3 men). Rather than a (rather immature) crew put together, these two men have worked in the moving business all their lives. They were fast, professional, and knew the unique features of many of our antiques. When they moved the bedroom suite, Joe showed me that the previous mover had broken the bed, but they were able to, using great care, preserve and move it. All we can think of, as far as the Top Shelf fiasco is that those young men were intimidated by the job, perhaps the stairs, and that, having spent a very long time trying to take the bed apart, and possibly being the ones who broke it, did not have the wherewithal to know what to do, so they did the only thing guaranteed to get them off the job, and that was to make up a story. Why else would they do it? We were so impressed with Joe Mover. If you want movers who have worked in the business for many many years (their family owned the #1 moving company in San Diego for many years), who like their job and appreciate furniture, hire Joe Mover. If you want to get a crew of inexperienced workers seemingly put together at the last minute, who roll their eyes at the job, call Top Shelf. I don't see how they stay in business.

I had booked with Roy for a local move, and he stated he would contact me a few days out of the move date to confirm everything. I never received a call, so I contacted him the day before to ensure they were still planning on moving us. Three guys (Angel, Gustavo, and Jameson) showed up on time. They were all pretty friendly. However, my dissatisfaction stems from the fact that on arrival to our new place, I noticed almost all of my wood furniture had been damaged in the move, along with my upholstered couch. Aside from not using moving blankets for transport, I'm unsure what the problem was, as our family has been forced to move long distances twice before in the last two years without a single piece of furniture sustaining damage. Upon contact of the owner, he was unapologetic and stated I could file a claim if I would like, but I must have receipts and before and after photos. How a former service member leaves an active duty military family high and dry is beyond me. Thanks for instilling an overall sense of distrust in all future moving companies. From now on, I'll be sure to have 360 views of all of my furniture. If you care about the condition of your furniture, you probably will want to use a different company.

They were so professional, friendly and on time. Careful with my furniture and when one knob came off, they were honest and told me right away. I would definitely use them again.

Have used them a number of times with great results

The movers came on time and was quick and hard working. All they had to do was load and unload anyway because I already packed and ready everything beforehand. The voucher was honored and kind of worried that because I used a voucher, they will try and do the work slowly to get more hours and money but that was not the case. Done in 3 hours per voucher with a little bit of overtime. I just wished they had tried harder to protect some of my stuff, although none was damaged, I just wished they used protectors, furniture pads or shrink wrap of some kind on some of my stuff that I could not put in a box. I had a lamp that they said will get damaged if not put in a box and I asked them if they had a box and they said they didn't have any to my surprise. All in all, it was a good move.

Outstanding! Roy was very professional in getting the move set up, handling the contract, and answering all my questions (and there were many) since we hadn't moved in 17 years. On the day of the move, the 4 man team with two trucks arrived on time and got right to work. We thought the move would take two trips, but the excellent loading skills of Leo fit everything in one trip. Angel, Josh and Anthony were pleasant and efficient in loading and unloading.

Very disappointed in this moving company. I hired them to move a 2 bedroom apartment and they took 8 hours to move!!! I moved from Oceanside to Scripps Ranch. They have zero regard for their customer's time and they even left items behind for me to move the next day. When I sent a bad review through the app I hired them through, I got an apology and excuses. When you hire and pay by the hour, understand that they will drag out the hours in order to get paid more. I am 44 y/o and have been moving since I was 2. This was by far the worst move I have ever experienced. I did my research and thought I was reading honest reviews about how quick they were, but I still cannot believe they would take 8 hours to move a 2 bedroom apartment. We had everything ready to go, the only thing they did that was extra was remove the legs from the couch to get it out the door. They didn't break down any other piece of furniture, I broke them down myself. Don't hire this company.

• I was very disappointed and angry by the misused of my personal information by one of their employees. One of the movers used small conversation to ask me to join him in a pyramid style business. He was very persistent throughout the 3hours it took for the move but the worst part is that he kept my cell phone number and called me a week later to follow up! He even said he could come over to my apartment to talk about the business!!! I provided my number on the contract as a way for them to contact me regarding the details for the move; I did NOT give my number directly to this employee. • They worked fast but were not careful with the items. One piece of furniture (a desk) was damaged/broken and most of my other furniture now has very noticeable scratches. • Even the boxes marked as "Fragile" were not handle with care. At least 5 boxes had broken items even though they were labeled as fragile and were well packed. • The movers were about 35/40 minutes late, but they did call me to let me know they were stuck in traffic; which was not a big deal to me but worth noting. Not to mention this was a proper use of my cellphone number.

They arrived early and moved even more pieces than I needed. I would recommend these guys to family and friends.

Very well. Roy, Owner of Top Shelf, cared about our needs. Extremely reliable and trustworthy. Co. brought wardrobe boxes on request and moved our upright piano. Movers were hard working, kind, respectful and reliable. All you could hope for in a moving experience. Would use again.
