+ 0 moreThis, as with my prior experience with this company, went very well and the men they sent were thoroughly professional. In fact, Mr Reckon himself called me the following week to make sure the job had been done well and that I was happy with their work. I was and am and would recommend them.
Description of Work: My sewer backed up on a Sunday morning and foul, disgusting liquid flowed out of the drains in two showers, and even pushed past the wax seal in a toilet on the high side of my home. It was a real emergency, and because it was on Sunday so I did not have the option of looking around. My regular plumber didn't get back to me. So I called Reckon & Reckon, whom I had used on an exterior drain problem a few months before. One of their guys, named Mike, answered immediately and showed up in little more than a half hour. He is a smart, experienced guy. He had a well-equiped truck. But upon checking the clean-outs on my drain, it quickly became obvious that the clog was somewhere under the house. So the only way to rooter it out was to remove the toilet. The access through the shower drain was too narrow to get the big rooter in. Mike told me how pricy that would be ($530) and I said go ahead. He did the work quickly and professionally. He was as neet as possible, given the mess that the clog had created, and did the work. Everything was then okay, save for the cleaning up, which took days.

Description of Work: We had slow leaking valves, nearest to the main. After watching them a few days hoping for celestial intervention, late at night on 10/31/12 I went to Angie's List and found a highly recommended company, Reckon & Reckon Plumbing just about around the corner from us. I went to their site, and there was an option to contact them by email, which we did around 1 AM or so. By 8:30AM the next morning, we received a phone call that they could come by the same day between 12 and 3 PM. They arrived at about 1:30PM, took one look and knew right away what had to be done, and went to get new valves. They returned 20 minutes later and while shutting off the H2O and bleeding the lines, my husband, who has very acute hearing, mentioned that sometimes during the night one of our toilets flushes just by itself. I said: NO NO, thinking that's going to be another ??$$ amount, but the Reckon Man said: is something else wrong? And when my husband told him, he checked the toilet and said, I will get you a new flapper at no charge. Ten minutes later we had some new, robust looking valves installed and by a little after 3PM all was done. We got a coupon for a $30.00 discount from Reckon/Angie, We thought the cost was more than reasonable because we don't know plumbing and very little water was wasted and a possible pipe blow up prevented at this pressure point. But the attitude of the two men who showed up, who were kind, explained what had to be done in laymen's terms, and treated us to a free crapper flapper, with the advice to check those things at least every five years (ours had not lasted that long)... wow, priceless! Definitely will call them again! Thanks Reckon Guys!

+ -1 moreI called two local plumbers and explained the symptom - pilot light would not stay lit. Both companies set appointments for that afternoon. One company gave a cost for replacement of the water heater. Reckon and Reckon arrived first. After a quick look at the age of the water heater, a replacement was recommended. He had a replacement on the truck and they would match the cost quoted by the other company. 2 hours later the new water heater was in place and working.

+ 0 moreI called for water leak detection. Steve and Victor came over the investigate a mystery water leak. They are very professional, they bounce ideas with each other, making sure it wasn't just one person's opinion. After a thorough investigation, they found the leak was from the AC unit, not a plumbing problem. Steve and Victor did find the problem, but since the repair was not plumbing related, there is no repair done and hey didn't even charge me for the service call. Surprisingly honest people!! Then on the second service call, I have them checked on an old irrigation system. I called the office and schedule an appointment and Victor shows up right on time, and the work was done quickly. I asked Victor to break down the cost for me and he explained it to me clearly, nothing hidden. They are very professional, very open and honest. I will definitely hire them in the future.
Description of Work: Water leak detection on the first visit, and lawn irrigation system on the second visit.

Description of Work: I had a problem with a drainage pipe that was leaking behind drywall. The plumber had to cut a small section of drywall to get to the leaky pipe. He sealed and clamped the hole in the pipe...fixing the problem.

+ -1 moreI bought the faucet that I wanted from Lowes, then called around for estimates. Reckon & Reckon came shortly after I called. They gave their estimate then left. I then called back to see when they could do it - later that same afternoon, and also inquired whether they would honor their $30 coupon on the site. The dispatcher checked with someone then said they would. I scheduled the job for later that afternoon. They came back, and within 1/2 hour, they were finished. I was floored. One other company on Angie's List with great reviews estimated the job would take nearly under 2 hours and cost a little less than twice what I spent (pre-coupon). I was shocked that this other company had received such high marks. They were very cordial, but their prices were way too high. Instead, I would recommend Reckon & Reckon.
Description of Work: I needed the kitchen faucet replaced. The old one taken off and the new one installed.

How nice to get a follow up call from the owner to check that everything was done to our satisfaction. The work was performed at my parent house in West Los Angeles, California while I was visiting them.
Description of Work: We first called them for an estimate on changing some of our old galvanized pipes to copper plumbing. My husband was so impressed with Michael and their quote that he hired them on the spot. They did an excellent job of changing the pipes and even through in a couple of other things they saw were needed.. They also replaced our pop up assembly in one of our sinks A few weeks later they came our to fix several of our toilets that had been giving us trouble for years by not shutting off completely. They looked at all of them , we have eight, and fixed several. They charged us $225. We were very pleased with their professionalism and quality of their work. We also have a dog that doesn't usually take to strangers but they were very comfortable working with him around. They are very dog friendly.

+ 0 moreThe utility bathroom tub backed up and we consulted Angies list for someone to clear the drain. We called Recon and Recon who sent two guys within the hour. They cleared the drain efficiently and polietly. Other plumbers had suggested that the drain needed to be repaired to keep it from backing up again and again. We had been quoted as much as $1500 to fix the problem. I asked the guys at Recon and Recon what they would charge to repair the problem. They quoted around half of that amount, and said they could do it the next day. They were back the next day and quickly fixed the problem on time and on budget. I know we will use Angies list and Recon and Recon again,
Description of Work: Our plumbing on one side of the house backed up, and when we called the receptionist was polite and the men were out within an hour took care of it, gave us a suggestion of what would stop this from happening permanently and we were impressed enough to book that as well. The price quoted was way better than Roto Rooter and we are happy and would definitely use them again.

+ 0 moreThe work was completed on time and at the price agreed to. The plumber rebuilt the three valve manifold to exactly match the old one. My error, I wanted a slightly different arrangement, but did not provide that instruction. It will work as is, however. -Do provide complete description of the work needed, with sketches and/or written instructions if possible. -Do inspect the work in progress, if possible. -Don't assume the contractor or workmen can read your mind. -Don't attempt to direct the workman on the job. If changes to your work are required, contact the office. I will likely use this contractor again when I need additional plumbing work in my home.
Description of Work: I had the contractor replace and reroute an underground high pressure PVC water line with copper and replace three PVC vales with brass ones.

+ -1 moreWe didn't find them on Angie's List. We liked their services like we've liked them for the last 20 years. They are great. One of the neighbors probably recommended him. He's basically the neighborhood plumber and everybody in the neighborhood uses him. While the system is flushing, he goes through the house, checks all the faucets, checks the toilets and adjusts things. He also adjusts the shower heads. He does all the minor things and fixes whatever problems we have with no extra charge. He'll say that he's got an hour while this thing is flushing and ask us if we have any problems and goes around and checks everything. He's happier to do that instead of being bored out of his gourd. He's unlike most other plumbers. He's very responsive. It doesn't matter what part of the week it is. If we have a problem he's here within an hour or 2.
Description of Work: We used the services of Reckon & Reckon Plumbing Co Inc, in the fall. Michael came by and did the yearly maintenance for eternal tank type water heater.
