The office is very good and they came the day after a holiday. He prepped the area well before he started work. They were responsive and professional but the gentleman was also supposed to send me an estimate of repairs I needed that we never received. I was just disappointed that we didn't hear back from them.

It was excellent. He got very dirty and looked like a male Mary Poppins afterwards.

They were good and efficient. They did their job. Their price was better than the other companies. They were very responsive. They came out as soon as I called them. They were running a little late, though.

He did a good job with the cleaning. He was very neat.

They were very professional and thorough. He went over everything as far as what needed to be done and what can be postponed to later. The price was what they had said it was going to be, the price that they had quoted in their estimate.

So, we bought a house and the first chimney repair place gave us two options... a one-year-warranty repair for about $5500 or a ten-year-warranty job for $9800. I felt we needed a second opinion so called The Chimney Sweeper. They came out and did (another) video inspection and said they could fix everything that was wrong for no more than $1700. Chimney Sweeper was not pushy about the video impection. (Of course, we are all waiting for the day that the video equipment that these chimney places use is nothing special, has paid for itself 20 times over and they just automatically do it without it costing anymore... but having said that, The Chimney Sweeper seemed to be in line price-wise with everyone else.) I think it was around $250 but wouldn't swear to it. But they applied $150 or so to the work being done. The guy (Dan Wilson) did both the initial inspection and the actual repair work. Low key, not much of a BS-er. He kept everything very clean, was on time... good guy.

The service provided by this company was excellent throughout, from the arranging of the appointment through the process of fireplace and dryer vent cleaning. Josh was punctual and very efficient in his approach to the work as well as very personable and responsive to questions which I had regarding what materials are the cleanest and safest to use for fires in order to best maintain the integrity and cleanliness of the chimney. It was an extra bonus to receive a 15% discount as a result of being a member of Angie's List.

No matter who you pick, do your homework online. If you need relining, google the good, the bad, and the ugly - ALL about it.If you bought a new house and got an inspection and it comes out iffy, consider hiring a specialty company like The Chimney Sweeper to have it re-inspected. They also put in a new chimney cap and threw in something else (I can't remember all the names of things - but I did at the time (per the above advice!). I recently purchased a home and was told by the home inspector that I should have my chimney undergo further inspection. I called The Chimney Sweeper to come out, sweep the chimney and provide an estimate for repairs. Scheduling the initial appointment was easy and hassle-free. Jerry showed up for our appointment on time, cleaned my chimney and provided me with reasonable estimates for a chimney crown repair, a new chimney cap and new coating for the interior of my chimney (parge coat repair). He explained each repair in detail, showing me photographs that he had taken on the both the interior and exterior of the chimney and outlining what should and needed to be done to bring my fireplace and chimney to code standards. After meeting with two other chimney repair companies, I selected The Chimney Sweeper to complete the repairs. In addition, I requested information on installing a new fyre glass fireplace system. Josh arrived on time for our scheduled appointment, covered my floors and furniture and immediately got to work. He explained what work he was going to complete and showed me photographs of the exterior cap and crown repairs when he was done and everything looked great. The fyre glass system is absolutely beautiful. I would highly recommend The Chimney Sweeper. He was going to give us an estimate but we never heard from him again. He seemed quite knowledgeable and helpful but we never heard from him.

Our chimeny had not been swept since we moved in 2003. Smoke had started to enter our house. I initally called another company from Angie's List, but they had a 2 week wait. With guests coming over for the holidays, I wanted faster service. From beginning to end The Chimney Sweeper delivered. I only had to wait 2 days and they arrived within their 2 hour service window. They inspected and swept the chimney and said the chimney was in good shape and no other problems were apparent. Their visit was quick, they were clean and professional and my chimney no longer smokes into the house. I highly recommend them and would definately use them again.

Service was great. They were able to schedule appt within 2 days. Our chimney had been neglected for many years and was beginning to smoke excessively. The service technician was punctual and pleasant. He identified our problem (dirty chimney and spark arrestor) and cleaned them straight away. We were so thankful to have our fireplace functioning again for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. The job took about an hour and the technician was thorough and neat. He was careful to seal off the firebox completely and finish the job without making or leaving a mess. He recognized that we had excessive creosote buildup and that we should have our chimney cleaned more regularly. He also made a suggestion for using a creosote removal product so that his next visit would yield even better results. We were very pleased overall and would recommend The Chimney Sweeper to others.

The Chimney Sweeper was easy to reach. Made an appointment during December which is a busy month for chimney companies. They called to confirm the appointment the day before. Josh arrived right on time for the appointment. Josh was very professional. He put down a mat and sealed off the fireplace opening.The work was done quickly and efficiently. He was extremely careful to keep the living room clean. After the sweeping Josh pointed out the cracks and missing mortar in our brick work. He proceeded to seal up these areas. The cost for sweeping the chimney was $155. The cost for the mortar repair was $45. The company provided a 5% discount making the total $190. The price was very fair for the work performed.

Dan was punctual, kept our white furniture clean and did a great job on cleaning our chimneys. Would definitely use them again!

Based on all the good reports that The Chimney Sweeper had received from earlier Angie's List satisfied customers, I telephoned and was immediately impressed by the efficient and courteous telephone manner of the lady who took the call. An appointment was made for the following week and on the dot of the scheduled time, two cheerful guys (Dan and Josh) appeared at my front door. They put on plastic covers for their shoes, brought in their equipment and got to it. There was no mess, no dirt, no disturbance. They just got on with the job in hand, cleaned my chimney thoroughly, sealed off the gas connection as requested and answered a couple of questions that I put to them. I got them as a referral from somebody else. The price I paid was for the inspection and the estimate. They actually did a diagnostic inspection. They were very knowledgeable. They got out there quickly and they provided the estimate quickly. They really explained to me what the problems with the chimney were. It really helped me in the purchase of my home in getting that report.

Don was on time and did a great job. He explained what the condition of the fireplace is and what our options are.

I contacted Barbara after being recommended by my chimney inspector. She has been in the business for a very long time and has an excellent reputation. Don was on-site for two days. He was very professional and kept the job site clean. When he was finished, he performed a draft test and determined that a smoke guard was needed. He came back the following Monday to install it along with the new cap. I would definitely use them again!

Very timely, knowledgeable, and informative, but $140 seems like too much to spend for the half-an-hour of services that were performed.
