They were timely. They were responsive. They did a thorough job and cleaned up after themselves. They knew what they were doing. I wanted it done quickly and they accommodated that need in their schedule. They were careful to make sure not to make a mess. They protected the surface area, and they cleaned up after themselves. I would use them in the future.

Showed up on time, inspected the chimney and both fireboxes. He cleaned the chimneys and added a spark screen on the roof. We were worried that our 60year old chimney might be damaged or unusable (recently bought house) but we were glad to find it in good working condition. Felt the technician was professional and thorough.

AMAZING experience. Being from the East Coast, I've had a lot of experience with Chimney companies. How I wish The Chimney Sweeper had offices in New Jersey. This company really knows its stuff. AND, all my concerns about dust and dirt were for naught. Every possible care was taken to protect everything. Truly, one of my best experiences with a contractor EVER. Highly recommend!

I emailed the general email address, and received a phone call within 24 hours. Made an appointment for the weekend, and received a follow-up phone call as a reminder. The technician called ahead of time, and was very prompt. He did a great job cleaning and testing the chimney. We just wanted to know if it was safe to use, as we had just moved into the house. He was very knowledgeable with wood and provided some great advice on what type of wood to use. We also learned that Duraflame logs are horrible and unsafe - lucky thing, we were going to use them! Would definitely recommend, reliable, fair price and good service. Thanks!

I reviewed the companies on Angie's list and I called The Chimney Sweeper on Monday December 3rd to see if there was an appointment before December 25. I was speaking with Chuck and they were all booked up. While on the phone he needed to answer another call. The phone call ended up being a cancellation for the next day Tuesday, December 4. He asked if I could take that one in the morning and offered me a 10% discount from the $165.00 price. I said yes and he booked us for an early morning appointment between 8:30 and 9:30 am. Don Wilson was the lead Technician of the two people. They arrived on time, were very neat and careful not to get anything in the house dirty. After cleaning the fireplace we began the visual video inspection. Don was a wealth of information and was able to describe what we were seeing. We could see a lot of gaps in the old chimney wall, some places where stone should be and decaying mortar. There were a lot of problems at the roof line that he was able to point out. (thank goodness for video these days). It turns out that we have been lucky when using it. He determined that the fireplace is currently not safe and we should not use it. Because of the historical nature of the house, it is not something that their company could fix. The chimney needs to be rebuilt and it is cost prohibitive at this time. Even though this is bad news for us, better to be safe than homeless or dead. I would recommend The Chimney Sweepers again.

Professional, knew exactly what style of old fireplace and how to clean it differentl than others. Explained what wood was best to burn and use our propane gas time starter. I felt very reassured that they knew exactly what they were doing and they were fast.

We originally had them inspect the chimney in 2007 because we were contemplating switching from gas logs to wood fires and found out about the defects then. We didn't use the fireplace since for fear of starting quite another fire. We were so impressed by the Chimney Sweeper's professionalism that we called them back last week. In the meantime, we had lost the original proposal. They immediately looked it up, said they would check with a supervisor to see if they could do the repair at the same price (they could). They then confirmed an appointment with us for this week and asked for a 10% deposit which we placed on a debit card. This Monday, they arrived on time, reinspected everything, and told us that a different technique not originally proposed for relining the flue would be superior to the one mentioned in the original proposal. Although that is normally more expensive, they honored the original contract price anyway. When they started, there was plastic sheeting protecting everything (including a trail to the door), and they were very professional and polite. The job took about half of the day, and at the end, they cleaned meticulously so we couldn't even tell they had been there, showed us what they had done (including pictures of the inside of the flue) and left with cautions about how to treat our newly-repaired fireplace and instructions how to modify the igniter for wood fires. We were delighted in every way, but the price was steep (we don't really have a standard for comparison, though) which is why we waited. Still, having a safe, functional fireplace is its reward for the investment in someone who knows what they're doing.

At this time all I wanted to as consultation from them.

They were very good. There were two people who came out with their equipments and they did a great job. They also sold me some chimney caps. Their price for cleaning was fair but I thought the chimney cap was probably high. However when I researched online for it I realized that including shipping charges for it to be delivered and labor charges for it to be installed, it would have cost me probably same or more, so overall I was happy that I got it done from the chimney sweeper’s.

The guy doing the work was great. Did a good job in a timely manner. The problem arose when the owner no longer wanted to give me the multi-work discount that had been offered on the contract. They had offered me 10% discount on work to be done. On the Angie's List web site, they say that they do offer a 15% off discount for multi jobs/combined tasks. I had decided not to have several minor things done and these were taken off of the contract. When it came time to pay the worker he said that because I had decided not to have the minor things done the owner was no longer giving me the multi-work discount. I told him that the contract that I signed included the multi-work discount and that I should still get 10% off of the total for work that I'd had done. He called the owner to discuss this with her. Standing next to him while he talked to her I could hear her screaming that I was a SOB (the long version of it) and that I was a f-ing a-hole (once again the long version of it). These epithets were repeated several times. I called the place to talk to her about this and she wouldn't talk to me and had one of the office workers talk to me while she stood in the background continuing to scream. Too bad. Her employees did a good job but her going haywire didn't impress me at all.

Overall a great experience, but I feel they are a little pricey.

Called to schedule an appointment and they were available the next day. I scheduled for a Saturday instead. They arrived on time, did the work quickly, and explained everything we needed to know about our fireplace and chimney. This was a house we had purchased over the summer and wanted to know if the fireplace was in good condition for winter use. They recommended no additional work be done and charged us only $150. Much much less expensive than I had thought it would be.

Guy showed up on time, but on phone I told him I only had two minutes to let him in the house, and when he got there he sat in his van for at least 5 minutes, while I waited on the porch. Upon entering the house, I told him the chimney had been smoking but that the fireplace and chimney were put in post-1994 earthquake, and were up to code, and which point he said, "How do you know it's up to code?" I said "Because I know..I had the work done after the earthquake, and I know". He arrogantly again said "But how do you KNOW it's up to code"? At this point, I sensed I was going to be told I'd need more work than I knew I needed (the subsequent chimney sweep company I hired said it just needed sweeping) and I told him to leave. Guy was rude, arrogant and had an attitude.

I think they showed up 45 minutes after I put in the first service call! All time record for response time! Very careful about masking off chimney/flue from rugs/furniture. Recommended covered spark arrester to keep water out of the chimney. I agreed.

I called on Monday, Jeremy and Steve arrived the next day - early. Nice. They were quick, efficient, very pleasant. After they finished, they showed me several problem areas and explained what needed to be done and why. The receipt included a list of needed repairs and estimates should I want the work done in the future.

I contacted The Chimney Sweeper to come service our chimney. They gave us some quotes for further work of what would be needed down the line. They put a cap on our chimney, which wasn't originally there when we moved in. They also cleaned the flues. They gave us some good advice that we shouldn't burn wood in one of our chimneys because it's only for gas.

Chris was very knowledgeable about the work that needed to be done, and even referred me to 2 other companies in the LA area who are licensed to do the same work, re-ceramic-ing the inside of the chimney. I was impressed by that, and while I will probably call the other companies to see what they have to say, will probably end up going with the chimney sweeper. They are a family-owned business for 40 years, and were very professional and courteous, wearing booties inside the house, not getting soot anywhere, asking for paper towels so he could touch the ceiling to get into the attic without getting it dirty. He also called me when he was about 15 minutes away to give me an update about when he would be there.

It went very well. The chimney repair worker, Jarrod, was extremely knowledgeable and informative. He was pleasant, professional and efficient. He was careful to keep my living room covered and clean. I won't know if the living room fireplace works better until we make a fire this coming weekend, however he said if we had any more problems, he would bring in his supervisor to help. He felt that everything was repaired and that the problem should not occur again.

I called the company on Monday and scheduled the service for that Wednesday. A price was quoted over the phone and it was the same final price at the end of service. Company policy was explained before the appointment was finalized. Scheduling the appointment was painless. The company did make a reminder phone call the day before. My appointment was scheduled between 10 & 12, Jerry arrived early which was no problem. I am very happy with the work Jerry completed. There was nothing for me to clean up. Jerry was professional and efficient. He took the time to answer my questions about operating the fireplace.

The technician arrived on time, performed the work well. I had ordered a cap for the chimney but they hadn't informed him but they carry caps with them and he installed one for me. The company later sent me an estimate for nearly a $1000 in additional work that should be performed on the chimney, including the reshaping the slope around the area where the chimney meets the roof, reshaping the inside of the chimney to draw better and an additional fee to clean out any creosote build up. I checked the roof area myself and it looks fine, nowhere that water will build up, I built a fire and the chimney draws fine. I don't know about the creosote. But two out of three costly recommendations that aren't necessary, lead me to question all their work.

Jared came in and fully inspected the chimney from inside and outside of the house. He was extremely professional and put on booties to ensure our carpet remained clean. He also placed a lot of protection items around the work area so that no dirt would get anywhere. The whole area was immaculate when he left. He performed the work as promised with thorough investigations and reports on what he found. He also checked our ducts to see if he thought we needed to get them cleaned at my request. The only negative thing I have to say about the service is that he was nearly an hour late. However he was very good about contacting me to let me know why (another customer had major problems) so it was ultimately not a problem at all. There are some repairs needed and I will be calling them to schedule an appointment to have the issues fixed.

Jeremy arrived on time and was friendly and professional. He performed the work in a timely fashion. I haven't used the fireplaces yet, but they looked cleaner as far as I could tell.

I felt like they were too expensive. They did the estimate while we were gone and left the estimate at our home. I think we are going to hire someone else to do the work.

I thought they did a very good job. I actually needed someone to go outside underneath my house and locate a dryer vent for me and he did it at no extra charge. He just seemed to be really polite and easy going. I felt comfortable with him in my home.
