 + -1 moreJust had a fantastic experience with Sunshine Boys yesterday. We had a somewhat complicated move to do, relocating our personal possessions from our three story condo in MDR to a new home in Westchester and then also moving tons of artwork and about 30 HUGE lateral file cabinets (which were crazy heavy...these guys are supermen) from a storage warehouse to the condo in MDR immediately afterwards. Joe was great at recommending how to tackle the project, and Titus (foreman), Jericho, Dennis, Conrad, Alex and Jermaine executed it beautifully and had great attitudes to boot, despite rainy conditions and backbreaking labor. I truly cannot recommend them highly enough!

 + -1 moreThese guys were great! They worked really hard, quickly and competently during my relocation from Van Nuys to Pasadena, CA. A couple years earlier when I moved to Van Nuys from Pasadena, I used a different moving company and they were lazy, slow, and consequently expensive. I saved about 60% when I had Sunshine Boys do the work - they are just that fast and that good (some of the savings were due to an Angie's List coupon but I still credit Sunshire Boys for the bulk of the savings). Additionally, the cost estimate for my relocation was spot on! Because of work, I've moved 7 times in the last 10 years (mostly interstate, but 2 international relocations) and these guys were simply the best movers I've ever encountered. I will use them again and recommend them for others.

 + -1 moreThis review is very long overdue. I used Sunshine Boys last summer to move the contents of our two bedroom house in Hollywood to another two bedroom place in Santa Monica. FIRST let me say that the movers were amazing. We hired three for the job and they were all very professional and personable. All of them had a great sense of humor and were very careful packing and moving our belongings. The names of the guys we used were Dennis, Jericho, and a third whose name I can't remember because it's been so long and I didn't write it down. We did a lot of packing ourselves but the guys covered all of our furniture really well, packed all of our clothes, and easily packed a lot of little odds and ends that were awkward for us to pack (a guitar, free weights, vacuum, etc.). SECOND, they were fast. I actually can't remember how much the final bill was, but I believe it was around $600. In any case, the final bill was $100-200 LESS than the quoted amount because the guys we had worked efficiently and quickly. Not an easy task if you're moving things carefully, which they did. If we ever move again I will definitely use them again.
Description of Work: 3 movers moved contents of two bedroom house from Hollywood to Santa Monica. House included a couch, dining room table, several chairs, two beds, flat screen TV, and lots and lots of boxes.

 + -1 moreThe movers Dennis and Daniel were great! They showed up technically early (by 2 minutes), I walked through and pointed out the items to be moved, they got working right away and even moved a few more large items that I failed to mention on the estimate. Not only did they haul a giant fridge from a 2nd floor kitchen, but after they moved me over, they did a second trip with other appliances and had to haul a different fridge up to the 2nd floor! The whole time they worked quickly and safely. Dennis even gave us some advice on the fridge hook-up and Daniel noticed the dryer venting line was old and advised we replace. The only thing that didn't happen was on the reminder call the day before I asked Grant to call me back with the names of my movers so I knew who to expect. I think Grant forgot to call me back. Overall, best way to move and I'd gladly recommend them to anyone!The

 + -1 moreFANTASTIC! They made our move really easy. I would say these movers went above and beyond what I was expecting of them. They even packed up stuff that we hadn't had a chance to put in boxes yet. We went with the option of having 8 guys for about 4 hours (as opposed to less guys over a longer period). It worked out really well. They were efficient and did not waste any time. Had our old house loaded into the truck in 2 hours, and then unloaded into the new house in about the same amount on time. I also noticed that the guys were all very polite and professional. The final bill was right on target, even coming in a bit below the high end of their own estimate. And overall, the price was very reasonable. We were very happy with the whole experience. The next time we move, we will call The Sunshine Boys!

The only negative was that I wasn't expecting to be charged for every box and roll of tape that they used to move the goods. Some of the boxes had been used many times, and because I couldn't unpack them quickly and return them right then, I got charged. The price seemed to be that of a new box, when in fact, some were old and very damaged.

 + -1 moreWe are a busy family with 2 little children with loads of STUFF. No time to really organize or to prepack. I spoke with Joe on the phone and his was the only company that could offer packing/moving in the same day. He sent 12 guys who arrived on time at 730 AM and worked non stop. They were courteous, enthusiastic and incredibly efficient. They had completely unloaded me in my new home with the large furniture pieces in place, beds assembled, etc by 2:30PM. I had expected the move to not complete until much later in the day. We were so pleased with their service from beginning to end. Just like Joe said, doing the move with so many guys saved me money in the end (compared with most companies who would have packed me in one with 3-4 guys and moved me the next day) and saved me loads of pain.I highly recommend the Sunshine Boys and would not hesitate to use them again in the future.

 + -1 moreThe guys were real nice and showed up on time and ready to go. There was no standing around, they took a look around got a game plan and ran with it. They got everything loaded very quickly but were careful to take the time to wrap all items with blankets for protection also.Unloading went even faster at the new place. We were just staging everything in the garage mainly with the larger items moved into the house. Very impressed with these guys and would not hesitate to give them a call again.
Description of Work: Moved contents of a 1 bedroom 2nd floor apt to a single story home. We had a majority of our small items boxed but they wrapped the larger items with blankets very well to keep them from being damaged. The larger items included a frig., queen size bed, 2 dressers, a sofa and a recliner. Everything had to be moved down the stairs as there is no elevator.

 + -1 moreThe move wasn't too complicated. We had a storage unit and a two bedroom apt moving into a 4 bedroom house about 70 miles away. The foreman Ron and his team were first rate. They moved fast and were very helpful. We didn't have any damage on our goods just on our house because the fridge was too big to fit in the door pretty minor stuff. The only issue I had was that even thoug we told Joe that the amount of stuff we had and he recommended a 26' truck we filled up the truck and had to rent a uhaul. We were worried about this during the week and Joe assured us that the 26' truck wasn't enough. It wasn't a huge deal and probably ended up costing us less in the long run but we were lucky to be able to rent the uhaul last minute. I can't fault Joe or Sunshine boys we just had more stuff than people in our case usually do. Joe was very helpful, communicative, and pleasant to deal with. I highly recommend them.

 + 0 moreThe piano received expert care through the entire process. The men worked very fast and were very coordinated as a team. I could have save $100 going with someone else who would have tried to do the job with only 2 people, but I was glad I went with the Sunshine Boys and would instantly do so again. They did a great job and provided an Angie List discount as well.
Description of Work: The Sunshine Boys moved a Baby Grand Piano from a hillside location, 25 miles to a Beach City. Although the Sunshine Boys were not my lowest cost estimate, they seemed to have the best approach to moving a Baby Grand Piano. They provided a 4 man fully trained and expert crew, were on time, had no problem navigating the steep LA hills, had excellent equipment and carefully disassembled the Piano legs, top and music stand, carefully wrapped each element with moving blankets, tape and shrink wrap, and then transported, reassembled and positioned the piano.

 + -1 moreI called and spoke with Joe the "Manager/Dispatcher" at the Sunshine Boys told him all the information, needed 3 men to move my furniture to storage for 3-4 days and because I was moving out of a tri-level condo it would take 3 men. I informed him of all the furniture that needed to be moved and that the furniture was heavy. On 6/27/12 only 2 movers arrived at 8:10AM very nice and explain to my husband and I that with only 2 men the move would take up to 8-9 hours. My husband proceeded to call "Joe" to discuss this and he became very rude and would not listen to any thing he had to say. The movers called the manager over Joe and he arranged for the move to be done the next day. I call the company at 7 PM to confirm that the move was scheduled and "Joe" answered the phone and proceeded to inform me that no move is arranged without, everything goes thru him. I ask to speak with the manager he said he was the manager and I explain I wanted to talk with his boss because everyone has someone over them. He ask what was I going to talk with him about he need to know before he called him because he might be out to dinner with his family and I could not get to except thru him. Because I was on my cell phone we got disconnected I proceeded to call back on the 800 line and his 310 cell phone which he did not answer.This is the worse customer service I have every received from any company and if Joe is all they to represent them they need to fire him.When he talk with me he was rude and he would not let me finish what I was saying. My impression from the conversation with "Joe" was that he made all the decisions and every thing had to go thru him and we would not get moved on 6/28/12. Because we had to be out of the rental by 6/28/12 it left us trying to find some one to move us at the last minute. This company should be taking off your list because it does not represent what Angie's List is about and that is good customer

 + 0 moreI called a few places on short notice to move us because our escrow finally got a firm date. The owner/manager I spoke with was very knowledgeable and over the phone recommended 6 movers as opposed to 4 like the other companies had. His rationale made sense and on moving day I couldn't have imagined it with less movers! We still had some packing to do which the movers helped us with. Ray lead the crew with Andy, Jermaine, Izzy and two more (I forgot the other two names). They were all very professional and hard workers. I was very pleased with the job and highly recommend them to anyone. They actually came in under estimate!!
