The Sunshine Boys Moving & Storage Co

I called and spoke to Richard a week before the move was to happen. He was very honest about his prices and gave me his price per guy/per hour so that I was able to determine the price of the work myself. We were able to schedule the exact day that I was hoping to move. On the day of the move four guys showed up about 15 minutes early and I walked them around the house to show them what was going. My wife and I had already moved clothes and everything that would fit into boxes in order to reduce our costs. What remained was LOTS of very heavy furniture: a piano, a very large teak bed, a teak bookcase, a monkey wood bookcase, another ten foot long bookcase, and lots of little stuff like chairs and tables. They immediately went to work and wrapped everything with padding. Any time they had a question they asked me instead of just assuming and making bad decisions. It took about 3.5 hours to load the condo into the truck. The only problem, which was probably my fault, was that their truck was almost too small. They packed that thing to the gills with no room left for anything else. (I initially told Richard that we only had about 25 pieces of furniture...sorry Richard.) The guys then followed me over to the house and immediately started unpacking. We told them where to put every piece of furniture and they worked quickly. The entire job was done in 5.25 hours with no scratches or dents. At one point while unloading a dining room server, one of the casters broke off of the bottom of the piece. But they immediately came to me to show me the damage instead of hiding it like other companies have done. I told them not to worry about it since it was originally just glued on. It was an easy fix and not a problem. The guys cleaned up after themselves and I paid by check. These guys are great. I can't recommend them enough. All four guys were courteous, friendly, clean, and professional. On top of that they were the happiest moving crew I've seen, laughing, singing, and humming as they work. These guys are the BEST!!!!

They were very professional. They were very friendly and direct, they did a great job, they were on time and did everything that they said they would do.

Steve, Damien, Lance and Justin showed up early in the morning as requested and were incredibly fast and efficient. They wrapped up all our furniture and were really careful with our stuff. Of course it turned out to be an extremely hot day. It was close to 108 degrees in Woodland Hills (where we moved to). Despite having to move heavy boxes and furniture up different flights of stairs, in record temperatures no less, the guys were GREAT and never once complained. They were really careful during the move, no dings etc. This was an extremely easy move for us and I only wished we found the Sunshine Boys earlier for all our previous moves. We really dug Richard's truck as well. =)

Finally, I said I had a minor issue that I hesitated to mention because the guys worked so hard. I found a soda can I d given to his guys in front of my place and I was disappointed that they would litter in my neighborhood. I suggested he mention to his crew to take their trash with them. I expected him to say that he doesn t condone littering and perhaps sorry. He told me that if that was my only complaint (which it wasn t remember how we just talked about the fees?) then I was lucky. I was shocked and he seemed stunned that I would complain about it. He told me they probably didn t even think about it because they were working hard and just threw the can on the ground. I said yes, that s what littering is. I knew it wasn t malicious, but it s about respecting people s homes. This is where the conversation broke down. He flew off the handle when I suggested it was disrespectful. He said he could tell I hadn t moved a lot and that I should consider myself lucky nothing was broken. I told him some things actually were broken (nothing of great value) and I hadn t mentioned it because that s to be expected in a move. Then things got really crazy. He got very emotional and kept repeating that I was hurting him. He said my call makes him want to forget about running a good company and hire criminals like all other moving companies. I was speechless. He kept repeating that I was hurting him and that I was being defensive and this was all about my ego, etc. He offered to refund the fees. After trying to make him understand my point and explaining that it wasn t about the money, I realized this wasn t a rational conversation and told him that I needed to end it. All he had to do to make me a very satisfied customer was say I m sorry about the miscommunication, and I will mention the littering to my guys. He was incapable of acknowledging any fault. Rather he accused me of being naive, nit-picky, defensive and unreasonable and kept saying I was hurting him. It s obvious that many people are satisfied customers. It wasn t until I was hit with unexpected fees and then my bizarre and pointless conversation with Richard that I soured on this company. The low marks apply strictly to him.

They were less than what I expected and some of my items were damaged during the move. They also brought 4 guys instead of 2 to move my very large TV and furniture. Also some areas of the laminate floor was tore up. I guess I expected perfection and with the grades this provider has on Angie's List. I guess I was upset that some of my stuff was damaged. 3 of the 4 movers were great but the fourth guy had an attitude and was unresponsive to my requests and questions. The whole reason I hired movers was to help with the large TV and to find damage to the TV and have a wheel fall off was disappointing but they did but the wheel back on for me and hopefully there is no long term damage done.

I needed a high boy dresser, nightstand, king-size brass headboard and hall tree -- all family heirlooms -- moved from a family home in Lakewood (Long Beach) to West Los Angeles. Based on the Sunshine Boys' ratings here on Angie's List, I called and spoke with Richard Wayne for an estimate. Richard was relaxed, professional, and very accommodating. At that point, I already felt as if I had called the right company, even without having yet worked with them. We scheduled the move for a Sunday about two weeks ahead. However, just a few days before the date, I had to call Richard to reschedule because of a funeral. He was again accommodating, with no problem changing the dates under my circumstances, so we picked the following Friday morning at 8 AM. Richard called the day before to confirm, checked to see how many workers he should send (we both thought two would be fine), and he said that he would send two of the best guys for handling vintage furniture. The next morning at the Lakewood address, I received a call from the guys in the truck, saying they were about 5 minutes away -- and they were. They arrived on time, were professional and friendly -- couldn't ask for better. They loaded the items into the truck and wrapped them with blankets and plastic as if they were museum pieces. Then they met me up in West L.A. and unloaded each piece carefully. Three of the pieces had to go up a narrow, turning flight of stairs, and they accomplished the move with accuracy and without damage to items or walls. The job was finished well within their minimum three-hour time frame, so the charge was $297 (first three hours) plus $35 for gas (a bargain!). These furniture items were among the last vestiges of my parents, who had recently passed away, so I really needed a company to take good care of them. I could not be happier to have found the Sunshine Boys!

The Sunshine Boys arrived on time and worked very expeditiously. They were friendly and professional. They took care to protect the furniture by wrapping each piece. They asked where the items that weren't labeled went and they didn't break anything.

Very professional and reliable. They called when they said to set-up a time. They called to advise that they were running late - which was not a problem for us - showed-up and moved her quickly and efficiently to the new place. The total amount of time to pack-up, transport and unpack was within the 3-hour minimum that I was quoted.

Very well, I called several other movers and when I reached this one, I was lucky, he didn't have a job that day and was able to pick up and deliver immediately. He arrived at the stated time, and I met him at my home, the move went very smoothly. It was a small move of bulky items.

Richard responded immediately to our last minute request. His team of six arrived precisely on time, were more than courteous; they were friendly and nice. They moved extremely swiftly. The estimate was for eight hours; the job was done in six and six was all we had to pay for. Richard likes to overestimate and come in under, a wise practice. We could not have been more satisfied. We will always use these guys.

The move started with several large pieces of furniture from our small condo in Playa del Rey and then the total evacuation of two storage units in West Los Angeles and Culver City. The Sunshine Boys then moved the contents to our weekend home in Murrieta, Ca and unloaded the partial truck in the garage, neatly stacking a book inventory on racks. Then they moved the rest to a newly rented storage unit in Murrieta and consolidated the remaining truckload by emptying the contents of a smaller storage into the larger. Overall, the job was one where I did not have to lift a finger. I was extremely pleased with the job.

Called Richard on a Saturday based on Angie's List reviews. Told him all I could, he gave me an estimate, I called back on Monday and made the reservation for the following Thursday. His crew showed up on time, with fantastic attitudes, and great work ethic. The move ended up being twice as much as was originally estimated, and took an entire day longer to complete, but I have NO complaints. Everything they moved arrived intact. The crew never stopped, never refused a request, and never gave me any concerns about the safety of my stuff, or whether I was being taken advantage of. I've never had a better move. These guys are the best at what they do, and they make a truly awful chore somewhat easier to swallow.

Prompt, courteous did work quickly and did not harm anything. Packed and unpacked boxes. Would definitely use again.

Richard returned our call immediately & I offered to come out for an estimate & packing suggestions. In hindsight, we would have better served to utilize that service, but instead did it ourselves. Nonetheless, the experience was great. Richard & his Sunshine Boys were absolutely awesome! They made the moving process very easy & fast. They were all professional & thoughtful & made the day go very quickly. Each one was very helpful & we can't give them enough compliments. If & when we ever move again, we would use them in a second & would also use their White Glove/Golden Glove service as well!

These guys are awesome. Professional, respectful, careful and fast. Steve was extremely polite and led an efficient team. Will absolutely call them again next time. Worth every penny. Richard was responsive with the estimate and checked in the day before the move.

I found the Sunshine Boys here on Angie's List and emailed Richard on a Saturday night. Sunday morning he called and came by a few hours later to do an in home estimate. He was very quick with his estimate and came up with a huge range ($2000-$3000) and only did a verbal estimate. A few days before the move, Richard called to see if he could pack us a day early and I said no. He and his crew came on the preassigned day and packed us in 3 hours. They moved us the next day in about 5 hours. They did not organize the house. They took things out of boxes and took the boxes away and put some things on shelves and in drawers. I found some broken things (mostly sentimental or inexpensive items: a soup tureen, a piggy bank, a lamp, a baking dish, etc.), but since he came in under his estimate I did not press the issue. An apology would have been nice, though.

Went perfectly. Loaded furniture and brought it to new location and unloaded efficiently and carefully. Not a single scratch.

These guys were truly unbelievable. Not only did they pack up my apartment in less than an hour, but I have never seen such eagerness to do any project as I saw from these people. I now live up a very steep flight of stairs, and my couch is huge. They were so ingenious about how to get the couch up, etc. Three of them did a really difficult move in under 4 hours, and charged me between $100-200 dollars less than the estimate. They are totally amazing.

I chose this company because it was the cheapest. What a mistake!!! I was told that the cost would be $1400. The real cost was $2339. I was told that the goods would be delivered on a particular day, that they had been loaded on to the truck. That was a lie. The goods were delivered 41 days after they were picked up. Several things were broken. There are 3 things that are missing: my TV stand, the top to an outdoor table, and a roller. I am older and wiser now. I would never recommend this company to anyone.

The move went perfectly, and as planned. Richard and two teammates arrived exactly on time, were polite, professional, and moved quickly while taking care not to damage or break anything. We finished early, and the work cost a few dollars less than expected. We gladly tipped them $20.00/person in addition to the fee.

WOW!!! What a great thing to call someone in the morning and have them there in the afternoon. Very polite and easy to employ.

They were amazing from start to finish. They were totally on time and completely friendly. Their attitude was great. It was raining and they were perennial professionals. The couch I bought was very long and getting it inside was not only a priority because of the rain, but it was also very difficult because I live in an old building. Their attitude was "if there is a will there is a way" and they made it work. I have not a single complaint and nothing but praise. They knew exactly what they were doing and I would highly recommend the Sunshine Boys. I will be using them for all moving or hauling I need from now on.

Richard and his crew arrived on time and worked very quickly and efficiently. We were less than well-prepared, but the guys packed up what we hadn't managed to get to and got the truck loaded in about 3 hrs. The unloading was uneventful and fast. The only damage incurred was a small scratch in the hardwood floors at the new house. In all, the experience was as pleasant as could be hoped for.

I called three moving companies for estimates, including Richard at Sunshine Boys moving. He immediately worked out a detailed estimate based on real facts: truck rental, fuel, labor, etc. I received one estimate lower than Richard's but the confidence in Richard's voice assured me that the few dollars more would be worth it. And I was so right. His two men showed up at the storage space, took complete control and carefully loaded the truck, about two hours. They promised me that they would be at the Las Vegas location at noon the next day. They showed up at exactly that time. They unloaded, set up the beds, unwrapped the furniture. Every minute of contact with the Sunshine Boys was a very, very nice experience. They were hard working, serious but friendly. The entire experience was just perfect. Absolutely no overcharges, no complaints, no damage, everything happened just as promised. I am happy.

Richard is great. He gave us an estimate over the phone and there were no surprises on moving day. He went out of his way to make sure things went smoothly. I have used another moving company listed on Angies List but went with Sunshine Boys because of their higher rating. I was not disappointed. The last movers were slow and at times unproductive. Sunshine Boys were cheerful and moved quickly and were very easy to work with. Any requests we had were met with "no problem" I will use them again, but not looking forward to packing and unpacking anytime soon!
