Larry and his helper were professional and helpful, giving us all the details of what they were going to do. Our old Bradford White 75 gallon water heater was removed (haul-away was included in the price.) Installation went smoothly. Larry upgraded to code, all the connections that needed upgrading and strapped the water heater. Our water heater closet was left cleaner than when they first arrived. We were very pleased.

My service technician was on time and very personable. ?My issue was not a major one (thankfully) and he was able to do the repair quickly. ?I used my home repair insurance, so I only paid a flat rate for this visit, but I would use them in the future for work that was not covered by my insurance.

This company called to my rental property and they were told clearly not to talk with the tenant at all. The technician, Mathew,came and look at the tankless water heater. He DID NOT open it or even touch. The first thing he said " you need to install a new unit". After i told him that i asked for service only, than he sold me $400.00 in service and a kit to flash the system. I approved it. Signed all the papers, gave him my credit card and left the rental property let him do his job. About an hour later, i got an email from my tenant, panicking, saying, that the technician told them that that tankless water heater was not installed properly, the installer cut corners, and many other hazard issues that put my tenant in a panic feeling that the water heater might explode one day. This technician, try to sale an additional unit without know anything else. My tankless water heater installed by a licensed contractor, passed all public and safety inspection by the city and work great. I just asked for service the unit for maintenance. Dont use them at all. They are not cheap and they only want to sale you a new units. BTW, the price they want for new units is DOUBLE from another contractor.

Incredible how great of a job was done. They went over and above the normal service to replace and made sure everything was installed up to code. I would highly, highly recommend you use them for your needs. The technician was top notch with his abilities and knowledge. He did a pristine job. The clean up afterwards was impeccable. He even fixed something that was not required with out me having to ask him. Four stars!

The technician/salesman announced that we needed a new water heater practically before he had even looked at it. He immediately tried to ?sell up? to a tankless model for substantially more money. This job was referred by a home warranty company; the upgraded unit would have been partially covered. But he was fast and loose with a lot of price numbers, including tax credits and rebates, and wouldn't write anything down. I did the research on the web and found that at least one of his numbers was not accurate, because the federal tax credit has expired. He also told me that they basically don't repair anything. They don't stock the parts. He didn't do any testing and wouldn't even try to light the pilot. Glad I told him ?I'll think about it?, and called another vendor (which had better ratings on Angie's List by the way). They've got you in a tight spot when you have no hot water, and these guys know it. I say, try someone else.

** Note that the price depicted above is a reduced sum because this water heater was covered under my home warranty.? The warranty people called Payless out when we called the warranty number due to a leak in our tankless water heater.? The rep diagnosed the issue as a failure to maintain by the previous owners (our home was purchased this year).? He recommended replacement and upgraded us to a new Novitz tankless, which was installed cleanly and professionally.? No issues.? Would definitely use again.

Diagnosed our faulty water heater and replaced it with an excellent model. He also upgraded all it's connections to code and did a professional job.

My old hot water heater finally broke down. ?I called my home warranty and they sent out a service call the same day and Payless was the provider that the home warranty company used. ?The installer inspected the old unit, determined that it needed to be replaced, and scheduled a time to replace the water heater the next day. ?They couldn't do it on the same day because there was a delay getting the necessary approvals with the home warranty company. ?The installation went smoothly. ?The water heater has been working great for the past few months and hopefully for many more. ? Payless installed a Bradford-White 40 gal water heater. ?I don't know anything about hot water heaters and the only advice that I found on Consumer Reports was the longer the warranty then generally the better the water heater. ?I did not have a choice on the brand, and it really didn't matter. ?It has a six year warranty. ?I would have preferred a water heater with a 9 or 12 year warranty, but it was covered by home warranty so I'm not complaining.

Not well. First he was crazy late. Of course he looked at my heater and very dramatically said how broken it was. Then after much discussion he said he'd call tomorrow. He didn't. I called him to tell him I called my manufacturer and the part in question was under warranty and they were seeing to me. Then he gave me an astronomical price to replace a small broken piece. Was on hold forever while they discussed. I finally hung up and called my guy Rick Campos (love them!!!) and haven't heard from Payless since. SHADY SHADY SHADY!!!!! I had a bad feelin and I was very right.

Technician came out to my house in a timely manner, inspected the job and gave me a reasonable bid for installation of tankless water heater and hauling away old water heater. He was thorough and courteous while doing the job. I am satisfied with the product offered and installation services.

I called them yesterday and they came out promptly and let me know that I needed a new water heater (which given that it was leaking badly, was expected). After they took a look at it, I talked to a manager and we came to a fair price. The next day Matt H. came out and did a great job installing it. He was very knowledgeable, thorough and easy to talk to. Then he went over all of his work at the end. I would definitely use this company in the future. Great experience.

My husband gave Payless Water Heater & Plumbing a call about our non working water heater. He received an estimated cost of 850.00. on the phone. When the contractor arrived ( don't know the name) he proceeded to add all these unnecessary cost. When he was done he gave a price of 1200.00 plus. My husband asked him to put it all on paper and he refused to do so. He said it was against company policy to put a quote on paper. Needless to say we did not call them back. 2 weeks later we received a call back from them and we told them we changed our mind. The guy on the phone tried to lower the price to 1000.00 but we refused. If he could offer us 1000.00 now for service, how come he did not offer it then? I saw they had a bad grade already and I should have taken that as a warning.

Perfect! ?On time, professional, took care of it, AND was clean and neat.

PG&E was unable to relight my hot water heater due to an improper installation. My home warranty company put me in touch with Payless who promptly scheduled time to fix the ignitor and relight the pilot.

Payless was the first company that came to do an estimate and I scheduled for them to come out and perform the work. In the meantime I did get another estimate which was considerably lower and after presenting that to Payless they honored the other lower estimate from a competitor. When they arrived they did not have the type of water heater on their truck and had to return the next day - and when they came back they did all the work, as promised, and did a very good job. There was one item that needed correction after the inspection and they came back promptly to do that repair. The inspector commented that they had done an excellent job on the fix. So all in all I was pleased with the outcome. The only complaint I had was the I felt the guy who did the estimate was trying to nickle and dime me for lots of extras that the other company included with the total cost of the installation. But since the company made good on the competitor estimate it at least worked out.

It went great the guy showed up on time he replaced our 50 gallon water heater in about 2 hours. Job was done clean he picked up after himself. I feel like it was a fair price for the quality. Larry said the water heater they use is superior to the one sold at home depots etc.. We now have hot water everything is going back to normal! We are very satisfied.

See above. In summary, it is my opinion that Payless over charged and made a functioning water heater non-functioning.

The Payless technician, Mike, arrived on time and went to work right away. He made accurate and professional recommendations and worked very hard to make the installation go smoothly and correctly. This was in opposition to the Sears recommended installer called "Plumbing Installers" Lic.# 915215 who on an earlier day tried to force me to accept installation of items not listed on the Sears installation document or that were double listed on the Sears installation document and the plumbers work description document. They stated that to get the installation started I would have to pay for all items listed. I challanged the need for the items in accordance with the permit and they cancelled the install whan I refused to accept the additional items as required. Additionally, they would not communicate in a language that I speak when speaking to each other. I sent them away and called "Payless " who did an admirable job. Kudos to Mike of Payless. P.S. Sears has refunded the installation costs listed on their document as they should have. DougM

Their service was great! They were punctual and the people on the phone were very nice. The workers explained things to me, and they let me know what was up to code and then let us make the decision as to whether or not to put it up to code. They were right up front and they were very very nice people.

I have warranty from the Home Warranty. Most of the cost was covered by the home warranty. They were very friendly. They came when they said they were coming. They set up a good time. They took out the old water heater. They were careful while doing the work. They cleaned out everything. They did a good job. They were really nice.

We called PayLess Water Heaters, based upon a referral from the website of a manufacturer. To their credit, I heard back from them almost immediately on a Saturday. They arrived at the appointed hour the following Monday, scoped out the job and gave me a quote on the spot ($3,495 for a Noritz 98-OD). Prior to giving me the price, the rep/plumber from PayLess said "If my price sounds good enough, would you be prepared to install today?" I should have taken that as an omen...sort of like walking into a new car showroom and hearing "If I can get you this car for the right price, would you like in your garage today?" Just smacks a little of pushy sales tactic. When I responded "no, I'm getting a couple of quotes" he said "OK" and began to stress the benefits of dealing with their company, which is fine, except I believe that he mis-represented some of the facts. Specifically, he said that their company is the only one that Noritz (manufacturer) calls to "clean up the messes that some other companies create with their installations." I actually called Noritz and they said that was not the case. In any event, he left and said that his company would beat any price that we got. Later that day, I got another quote that was more than $1000 less. Towards the end of that week, I called PayLess and told them that we had received a lower price, and they said that they'd beat the price by $100...okay, so you're lowering your price $1,200?. Obviously, the first visit from Payless would have "CostMore." I then told them I needed a couple of references, as they had miinimal presence on Angies List, and so I had nothing to go on...they assured me that they would email me references by the following Monday. That email never came. Hence, I decided not to use them. Advice: I think that PayLess needs to provide real pricing on the first visit (i.e., their real best price), and be prepared to provide the names of a few happy customers that prospective customers could speak to...otherwise, you're shopping in the dark.

I walked out into my garage this morning to find my water heater leaking all over the place. So I called Payless Water heaters and they had a guy come by about an hour later. The Plumber guy was full of knowledge & very friendly and he was able to figure out our problem and replaced it with a new water heater! It was done in about 2 hours and I was off to do my daily duties. Payless gave me great service and Im a stay at home mom and they made me feel really comfortable from the office mgr. to the plumber who completed the Job and made it look so easy he said "this is all i do is water heaters So I am very good at installing them". looks Great!
