This deal is really a $50 discount. The deal only replaces the water heater, there additional surge charges that are not disclosed. At the end of the day they sold me the "Bronze" package which 1900 (this is a fixed price) they took deal purchased through Angies list and credited me $900. I called them before I purchase the deal they did note there maybe some incidental charges to get my water heater up to code. (note I remodeled my house four years ago, and move the water heater but choose to keep my existing waterheater) But all the water hoses and gas hoses needed to replaced. Even though they are four years old they would not reuse. Fine. My biggest compliant obviously they know what they are going to charge, but didn't disclose upfront. I wish the deal would have noted a $50 discount. Misleading deal you will pay more out of pocket.

Jacob came to replace my leaking water heater today. He was even earlier than promised. He knew exactly what to do and helped me save money. It took him less than 2 hours and says only another hour for hot water. It was so fast! The new water heater looks great and the new plumbing he replaced, a lot safer! Thanks Jacob for being so easy going, nice, and proficient! It's not fun to spend a big chunk of money around the holidays for this but at least I got the best deal and didn't have to suffer!

Woke up Saturday morning to no hot water and discovered older storage tank water heater heavily leaking from the bottom. Had it in mind previously to replace with tankless but never got around to it. Compared some vendors on Angie's List, called one and got a quick response, technician came out and delivered a recommendation that was more expensive than hoped. I also was unsure about the direction the job was taking (Placement of heater, recommendation of equipment, etc). Just a gut check. They left and I thought it over. Called Payless, got a quote over the phone a few hundred cheaper than the first place, they sent someone over in about an hour. Matt the technician for Payless showed up, checked things out, asked questions, listened to answers, and made a recommendation on placement, equipment, gave me a straight-forward all-in quote and went to work. The job was not easy. Hot crawlspace, some older funky plumbing, re-routing of gas, and creating a new electrical connection. Matt did an amazing job, we hot water in about 7-8 hours and 3 days later could not be more pleased with decision. I've had numerous plumbers at my house over the years and Matt at Payless is hands-down the one I've had the best experience with.

Called Payless and got a rough quote over the phone. Gal told me that it was going to be $979 to remove and replace hot water heater and that included tax and disposal of old heater. Their service technician arrived on time and tried to do a bait and switch. Wanted to sell me a new furnance and air conditioner, water conditioning system, tankless water heater, etc and wanted to put me on this HERO program which rolled everything into my property taxes. I just wanted a new hot water heater and then he tried to sell me all these different programs that were financed. I again told him I just want a basic hot water heater and informed him that I was told it was $979. He tried to tell me it was going to be closer to $1800 because all of this other crap, including new straps, gas line, water line, city permit, etc. Nothing was wrong with the water line, gas line and straps. He finally wrote up an estimate for $1682. What a rip off. I priced that same Bradford White hot water heater and it is a $500 heater. So Payless wanted to charge $1182 for the install. I think they need to change their name to Paymore not Payless. This company is a complete rip off and Angies List needs to be ashamed to have them on their list.

MY WATER HEATER WAS HAVING PROBLEMS OF DIFFERENT KIND SUCH AS PILOT NOT STAYING LIT, AND DEPOSITS INSIDE. BRANDUN OF PAYLESS STOPPED BY AND REPLACED THE WATER HEATER PER CODE IN AN EXPEDIENT MANNER AND REMOVED ALL OLD PARTS AND MADE SURE EVERYTHING WAS WORKING. HE GAVE ME THE COMPLETE INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE LEAVING. HE DID THE WORK PROFESSIONALLY AND HAD A VERY POLITE AND PROFESSIONAL ATTITUDE.

The technician arrived during the designated time frame. He was able to determine there was not a problem with the water heater and the only thing that seemed to not be working was the recirculating pump. Even though the water heater was out of warrant, there was no attempt to sell me a new heater, and when it came to the pump, it was completely my decision to replace it, without any influence from the technician.

My water heater went out and I called Payless Water Heaters to replace it and was very pleased with their work. My wife wanted me to buy it at Home Depot and install it myself to save money. but after watching Martin disconnect the old tank, take it out, put in a new tank and hook it up, and take the old one away, it made me realize how worth it it was do have them do the work. Martin had the tools and the no how and a great personality . Also, I didn't have to worry if I did it right or screw up my back trying to lift the water heater in place. Thank you Martin for doing such a great job on the installation and educating me about water heaters. I feel I have a friend in the in the water heating business now. All is working well! I am happy!

I believe I was charged to much. The technician was nice and did a good job.

Juan was the service technician. He came on time. He thoroughly reviewed the situation and determined that the leak we were seeing was due to an aged water heater that was no longer functioning properly. He removed the old water heater, cleared out the damaged plaster in order that the new one would be on a level. He was very neat and efficient doing his work. I was pleased with his depth of knowledge and how he was able to help us understand the problem and how he was going to fix it. We would definitely use Payless Water Heaters again if needed.

I woke up one Saturday to no hot water. I called Payless and they had someone to my house that afternoon. Scottie correctly diagnosed the issue and ordered a replacement part under warranty. He took the time to show me exactly how to "band-aid" the problem by re-lighting the pilot light. I called back when the part arrived that Tuesday and they worked around my schedule to get Brandon back to my house to install the replacement part. He was quick and friendly. I was very happy with the service I received from the technicians as well as the people who handled the scheduling. I would use and recommend this company again.

Work was performed with professionalism. The new HVAC system was tested and permit passed with no issues. Matt Renshaw worked on the tankless system, he was very knowledgeable and answered any questions I had. The work is very cleanly installed and works perfectly.

The quality of work is not in question; that is not the issue. Rather, the quotes to replace and upgrade an existing device were far above prevailing costs easily found online by some $600.00. Do your homework and don't accept their initial quotes. You can find realtime retail selling prices online for everything they sell and use these figures to bargain for what should be an acceptable rate. Their price kept changing as i brought up objections, comparable prices, reasonableness of their quotes, etc. I thought that based on their claims of doing more of this work that anybody else, their experience, being family owned, and caring for their customers would yield a different outcome. Instead I felt bullied, like they had the upper hand, and were happy trying to get the highest rate possible without regard to a sense of reasonableness. They will push you, but push back. Get their work, but don't pay their initial asking price. It will be too much. Lastly, I would refer them to a friend, but only with counsel with the above.

Initially purchased an Angie's deal for $150.00. I called the provider and got voice mail. No return call. A few weeks later, I called again and someone did call back and set a appointment during the week during 8AM - 10AM. Waited and was a no show. I called a week later and got voice mail again and said this was the last time I would call. The plumber / owner did call back and apologized for missing the appointment. We set a new time and this time the plumber did show up and performed the work. He said he needed a new appliance cord which he was able to supply. Work performed was satisfactory and plumber did clean up after himself. Downgrade on rating primarily due to communication issues with company.

They walked us thru how to stop the water leak and shut off the water the night before. The following day they came on time. Performed the job in less than 2 hours. A little pricey but this water heater does not have any plastic parts like our old one. Used copper pipes instead of plastic which can break. Great service and I would recommend them to friends.

Previous water heater had been installed incorrectly, and was leaking and no longer working. ?Showed up on time (actually called and came earlier than scheduled), explained in detail all that needed to be done, and did a great job on installing the new water heater. ?During the installation, noticed the hot water recirculating pump was broken. Removed old one and replaced with new one. Danny (the technician) did a great job. ?I would definitely use this company again! Price reflected the additional parts and work to bring up to code, as well as a much better water heater and recirculating pump.

Payless was fine. It was definitely too expensive but when you have a problem like that, they get you. What can you do? You're not going to shop around. Their service was good. They were very professional, they were courteous. I just thought they were expensive.

Pros We got a new water heater, same day our old one broke Surrounding pipes and valves were replaced Work was done in a timely manner New water heater is working well & more energy efficient (according to the labels) Cons Probably overpaid Lack of professional courtesy I think we probably paid too much. When the water heater is leaking and you're worried water damage, you are under a lot of pressure to do something fast. I think this company like many others knows that and so your cost goes up because they know you don't feel like you have the time to shop it around. They showed up on the same day we called but 30 minutes after the time window in which they said they'd be there. They quoted the work. We shed a small tear but said ok. They did the work and disposed of the old water heater. The part the showed a lack of professionalism was that they took NO efforts to protect our carpet. I provided rags to sop up water that was dripping from the old unit as they carted it down the hall and out the door. They put nothing down to cover carpet in the area they were working and did no clean up afterward.

It appears it has corrected the problem however technician stated if I had to bump up heat again to call them immediately and they would come back out. Very professional, great attitude, and would use them again even if NOT under home warranty.

They worked very h****** installing our new water heater.? I would recommend this company to anyone in the area. I will be using them again in the near future.

I called at about 9:30 in the morning and they were at my door by about 11:00! This was an insurance visit, so they inspected the heater and called in to get approval. He replaced the heater, upgraded the gas line to code (I had to pay for that). He helped me remove the wet material underneath the old heater. Everything went well.

I ended up calling them four times before the work was done. I called them because our water heater outlet was going out and that’s just the company that could respond that day. They were nice guys. They handled work that comes through the insurance company differently than doing the regular stuff. I feel their work is a little more conservative for the insurance company and that’s the way they sell. It is $60 per service call and within 30 days if you call on the same thing you don’t have to pay $60. They came out several times and they charged us $60.

This company sent out a technician on the same day we called them. This technician, Kester was very courteous and explained what he was doing every step of the way. He carefully investigated all the possible locations and causes of the leak in our garage. He also asked very intelligent and pertinent questions so that he could fully understand the situation. He worked in a very steady and methodical way and we never felt pressured or rushed to make any decisions. We were particularly impressed with his patience in answering all our questions Based on our experience with Kester as well as the phone staff, we would recommend this company to our family and friends.
