Overall, it went well. Mark came out the day after we called, and gave us an estimate for the work on the spot. We agreed to the price, and the work was done immediately, in about the time Mark estimated it would be done. He did a nice job. There were two things that kept me from giving the company an "A". The first was that I would have liked to "shop" for a water heater. I wanted one with an Energy Star and a 12 year warranty. The company didn't provide me with a list of choices. We ended up with a 6 year warranty and paid extra for an additional 4 years from Water Heaters Only, for a total of 10 years. I didn't see any Energy Star on the box or paperwork. So in the end I feel like I had to compromise, and didn't get exactly what I wanted. The second thing was that Mark didn't have the appropriate "Watt 210 Valve" on the truck. I understand that it is impossible for a plumber to have every possible part on his truck. I don't fault him for that. But Mark didn't know that the part he had would not work on the water heater we bought until he tried to install it. We looked on the internet, found the appropriate part number, and Mark was able to go buy it locally. So it worked out in the end.

My water heater was spitting out little chunks of hard stuff that clogged my shower head on a daily basis. I called numerous places, went to all of the home improvement centers and no one had good advice and the time frame to get it installed was too long. I called at least 7 plumbing companies, all of whom were booked up, and charged a bit fee to come out and could not tell me anything over the phone. Then, I remembered hearing about Angie's List and decided to join and try it out. I found WHO on Angie's list. The water heater had gotten really bad on a Sunday night at about 6PM. I saw the ad for WHO, which said that they would return calls the same day - any day. I didn't want to bother anyone on a Sunday night, so I sent an email instead. 15 minutes later my phone rang and it was WHO. The gentleman who talked to me told me exactly what was wrong with my water heater, how much a new one would cost with installation and that he could ahve someone there the next morning. So, I booked the appointment. The person who came was well-mannered, clean and replaced the water heater, just like they said they would. He showed me that the previous water heater was connected incorrectly and fixed the piping. He was done in less time than they told me and cleaned up everything. It was great!

A few bumps in the road at first were replaced by fast on the spot service, professional and friendly attitude and -- HOT WATER! Here is the explanation. Our water heater was not working properly; the pilot light in our water heater went out. When I re-lit it, the flame started right up. But the next morning, it was out again, and would not stay lit. Based upon reviews on Angie's list and their own website, I called Water Heaters Only this morning, and inquired about them fixing my Bradford White 40 gallon water heater. Dave, with whom I spoke, was very nice but advised that they probably did not have the specific parts for my model, as it was eight years old; I was sort of surprised as their site seemed to imply that they could repair virtually all brands of water heaters. Dave explained that they could, but that they couldn't possibly carry all the parts. So he suggested that I contact the company with my model number, and track down the parts. I did that, but was still a tad miffed, as they probably could have done that for me. On the other hand, me doing it probably sped up the process and probably ended up saving me money. In any event, after locating the parts, I called (same morning), and Dave said that somebody would be there between noon and 3. My wife then informed me that she couldn't be there after two, and since I work 20 miles away, I suggested that she call Dave and see what he could do. NO PROBLEM. Dave sent somebody right then! Tony showed up and my wife described him as clean, professional, respectful, and apparently did the job right, as we had hot water pretty quickly! I especially appreciate the quick service and professional nature of the staff. Maybe the only suggestion I would make would to clarify the website to indicate that if they order parts it might take a few days (or something like that). But their responsiveness and professionalism far outweigh that.

I called and talked to Bob at 12:30p and was told someone could make it between 1:30p and 3p, otherwise the next day would be necessary. The installer would take a look for no charge and if we agreed on the job he could get started right away. I was able to get away from work to get this done as the other company was having trouble scheduling me, Tony showed up at 1:30p and was done by 3:30p. All went smoothly and am glad to have hot water back again.

I called the company at 7:00 and had a new water heater by 2:00. Water heaters is all they do. The person on the phone was very helpful and the price quoted was less than the job. They were courteous, on-time, quick, fairly cheap and cleaned up afterwords. They were very sensitive to the environment, did more than promised and left quietly with a smile. I can't say enough good things, such great service is very rare these days. I found them on Angie's List.

I'd spent a few hours doing homework on water heaters (versus tankless heaters and making sure I could upgrade to a solar hot water system). I decided I probably wanted a Rheem or an A.O. Smith. I found Water Heaters Only in the phone book but knew nothing of their reputation. I signed up for Angie's List and confirmed that they had good grades. I called at 12:30 on a Wednesday. Bill spent 15 minutes answering my questions. I ask a lot because I'm an engineer. He was exceedingly polite and professional. He recommended the Rheem (and he waited while I found the right spec sheet online). He said it would cost about $1100 fully installed and an installer could be here between 2:00 and 4:00. I asked if it could be on the earlier side. BTW, this high efficiency unit only cost $125 more than a less efficient GE unit at home improvement store and cost the same to install (after $25 Angie's coupon) -- and I'm sure it was faster. Tony arrived at 1:59! Plumbers are *never* that punctual! Tony estimated the job at $1124 and about 2 hr; later he told me that it would normally have been $100 more because of the stairs but he'd waived that because I'd already drained the tank, saving him time. I asked many questions and asked him to arrange things "just so" (the somewhat anal engineer that I am). He was incredibly polite and never suggested that I was bothering him. His work was very neat and professional. He left at 4:08. It probably would have been quicker except for my questions. A pity that he isn't a general-purpose plumber I could call on in the future!

The rep came out very quickly etc.. I thought he was quite knowledgeable. The price was about $300 higher than a couple of other companies. I am still reviewing estimates but quite frankly have been shocked by the cost of a water heater in general so am still in a holding pattern with regards to whom I will call. After I evaluate everything, I may still call this company but since they came in higher, they are on my more unlike to call list (at this point, I may give up using hot water - am still confused how a $300 item has turned into a $600 item plus $600 installation cost!!!!).

Tony was very responsive. He was here within an hour of being called. He was very pleasant to deal with. He pointed out all the things he did after he was finished. We were very pleased with his work and would definitely do business with Water Heaters Only again. This was actually about the third time we have dealt with this firm.

The mechanic Mark arrived sometime after 8 in the morning. He determined that I definitely needed a new unit. I hadn't been sure how old mine was, but it was apparently original to the building (22 years old!). I'd say that it certainly has served its time, since the average life for a water heater is about 10-12 years. Mark advised that the unit was braced improperly to the wall. For the tank (Rheem 40 gallon) and the labor involved, it would cost about $1000. This seems to be in line with the other reports on Angie's List and also the estimates I received from two other places. I also agreed to pay an additional $200 for him to install a pressure valve outside of the building on the outside faucet, since the heater is too far away from outside for it to be installed on the actual unit. He had all the necessary supplies and equipment on his truck and was done in about two hours. He also was very nice and answered any questions I had. Work listed on invoice: replumbed hot and cold flex lines, ball valve, bonding, gas valve, line, replaced earthquake straps, pan, valve on outside faucet.

Every 10-12 years I have my water heater replaced.

Our water heater bit the dust one morning while I was in the shower. I found this company through the Yellow Pages. I called, was given a rough quote over the phone and was told the technician would be at the house in about an hour. As promised he showed up on time, gave me a formal no-obligation quote and proceeded to remove and replace our water heater. When he was finished he cleaned up after himself. He showed me how to adjust the water heater. He also showed me how to perform the annual flush that is necessary to remove sediment from the tank and extend the life of the water heater. Price wise, they were right in the ballpark with what I expected to pay.

THE COMPANY WAS VERY PROMPT, COURTEOUS AND PROFESSIONAL. ALL WORK WAS COMPLETED IN THE ESTIMATED TIME QUOTED. WE HAVE USED THIS COMPANY PREVIOUSLY AND ARE VERY PLEASED WITH THEIR WORK AND PRICES.

WE WERE VERY PLEASE WITH THE SERVICE BY THIS COMPANY. THEY WERE FAMILIAR WITH THE STATE REQUIREMENTS AND INSTALLED THE HEATER AS NEEDED TO MEET THESE REQUIREMENTS.

PRICE IS AVERAGE BUT PROVIDED GOOD SERVICE. TOOK AWAY THE OLD WATER HEATER.COMPLETED WITHIN 3 HOURS.
