Everything turned out fabulous. I love the dimmer switch with the LED lights. I am very pleased their services. I would use them again in the future and recommend them to others. They were incredibly clean and on time. They were also extremely personable and professional. They had a lot of helpful suggestion and very knowledgeable.

We work late but that wasn't a problem. Al came to the house at 7pm on a Wednesday to provide us a quote to install 2 bathroom fans. Chad (installer) showed us a few days later as scheduled to perform the work. It took him about 7 hours to complete the project, which aligned with Al's original estimate. A piece of the dry wall was damaged during the install, but Chad fixed it without hesitation. I also found a 5% discount from Angie's List, which Chad gladly accepted. Overall great experience. We'll definitely use Gentec again.

He provides all types of electrical services. He is a very honest man and does great work. I have worked with him for many years and he always a great job.

I recently leased a new electric car for my commute woes and bought a level 2 fast charger from Blink. I needed this to be installed in my garage with its own dedicated 40 amp line. Blink recommended an installer who quoted over $600 for what was a fairly simple installation. I called Gentec for an inspection to get a second opinion. Jeremy from Gentec showed up promptly on appointment time and was very professional. Initially he asked me where I would like the charger head to be installed. I had a spot in mind but he went over more options on other spots based on the location of the panel and pros/cons and pricing for each. He carried an iPad with custom software to show me pricing, warranty and other details. Once I decided on the option, he sent me an email with the quote right from there. There was no calling up head quarters, haggling price, waiting for the quote etc. He also handed me a package that had info on some of their other services but interestingly had good dos and donts about some simple household maintenance. They are diamond certified for past straight 8 years. The quote was not only cheaper but he made me feel comfortable about the different options, took his time to survey the area and was not in a hurry to leave. The best part was he offered advice on city permit for a water heater that I had installed but the company had never scheduled an inspection (thanks Mr plumber I need to call the city now!). The package he handed also offered a 15% discount if I chose the SEP yearly plan for Electrical and HVAC maintenance (a value of $300 for 2 times a year visit which I think is good value considering the discount). I took a week to decide and had another contractor come in for a quote. I finally chose Gentec not only for the price but also for their professionalism. Jeremy had said that if I decide to go with them, it will be him who will be assigned for my job and any other job that I will have them perform from now on. This is subtle but important in my opinion - it not only develops a client relationship but also Jeremy will be aware of my electrical configuration so I dont have to explain to a new face everytime. On the day of the installation Jeremy showed up on time and had all tools needed for the job. 3 hours later I had a perfectly working charger in the most optimum spot. I had asked him to position the charger exactly next to the panel and centered along the same axis. I have not seen a contractor that has a better sense of aesthetics. He took all measurements and aligned it perfectly. I was watching over him at times and can say with confidence that the attention to detail was very high. He handled my charger like a baby making sure it had bubble wrap below it every time it was touching the floor. He plugged a new 40 amp breaker and drew a line from inside the sheet rock to come out to connect to the charger with a flex cable. Once he finished he gave me the chance to test and verify everything works while he cleaned up behind him. I am impressed by the job and more importantly their service. Gentec also uses low emission Ford Transit Connect trucks that Jeremy was passionate about to tell me. He showed how the ladder installation on the top had this easy custom pull-downs. I eventually went for their SEP plan and got a 15% discount. This was relatively a simple installation but I am confident that they will deliver on any job. They are a nice total package of service, economy, efficiency and quality. Highly recommend them.

We needed interior wiring to our home that consisted of rewiring outlets that were not grounded, installation of GFI receptacles in both bathrooms and kitchen, and additional outlets. Al and Jaremy performed the work efficiently and quickly. We then decided to install overhead recessed lighting in the living room and upgrade the main panel of the house, which included the replacement of the exterior hookup to PG&G that had deteriorated over the years due to exposure to the weather. All work was of the highest professional level, even correcting the grounding on the water heater that had been through two inspections previous to their arrival. The electricians were both great to work with, as were Eric and Ethan, who performed a furnace inspection and helped with the wiring. We were provided with scheduling time and dates from Tina in the Gentec office. It was one of the best experiences that we have had with contractors --- from start to finish Exterior main panel and ground $2932 Exterior and Interior lighting and outlets $1575

The installation was very efficient and complete. We also discussed possible upgrades and energy conservation possibilities. Great service. Would definitely recommend and personally use this company again.

Jaremy was very considerate, for example he did not need to be asked to put on booties. As soon as he saw shoes by the front door he put on his own booties. He walked through the home with me and I showed him all the problems I had found. He created a written estimate for me based on their $389 flat rate. He found the problems very quickly and replaced several wall sockets and light switches. The replacement parts were all covered by the flat rate fee. I then got more estimates from him for installing two 20-amp circuits upstairs in the computer area so that turning on a hair dryer won't brown-out and crash the computers. I find they are on the expensive side, but have decided it is worth every penny. The previous owner got his handy man Julio to install the ceiling fans and track lights and they were not done very well at all. So Gentec can correct such problems with Do-it-Yourself or handyman jobs. I will be using their service again to install the new power outlets upstairs and to hang my big screen TV securely on the wall. They are a diamond-certified contractor which is a pretty big deal that they take seriously.

Al Moreno came early ... no problem. Installed the plug-in. Al went in the attic and found that we had been sold a used transformer and that it was installed in a dangerous fashion as to be a potential fire hazard. Al fixed the problem (which was a loose wire) and repositioned the transformer. He took pictures of the unit to verify all that he had said and done. Overall I'm very pleased with his work and professionalism. I'm angry at the lighting store in San Ramon at which I bought the fixture who did the original instillation.

I had an electrical problem in the upstairs bedrooms and bathroom that was not resolving. Gentec advised that they would send a representative between 8 and 10 a.m. today. Their representative, Jaremy, came at approximately 8:15 a.m. He listened while I explained the problems to him. That is extremely important since a lot of technicians have a diagnosis before they have heard the problem. He was respectful and very pleasant. He was able to find and fix the problem within an hour. It turned out that a connective wire in the fuse box had come loose. He fixed that and at my request fixed an outdoor plug.

Very well. Jaremy arrived on Friday afternoon, provided the estimate and ordered extra parts for us. He worked on the install over the weekend and completed the installation the following Monday without charging for the extra service time or additional parts. He was very professional.

It went very well. Initially, I had contacted company on another issue, I thought I had an electrical problem with sprinkler, but as it turned out the problem was with the Sprinkler system and had to be repaired by a landscape contractor. The electrical problem was my fuse box. It was unsafe and crackling, it could have started a fire. The wiring in my home was bad, and Jeremy fixed the problem, it took 2 days, but I have been very satisfied with the workmanship, the responsiveness, and the honesty displayed by Jeremy.

They were professional, but their pricing was outrageous. There were only some repairs and some other things we were looking for. They didn’t identify anything new that I didn’t already know, so I didn’t point it out to them.

dimming of lights was found to be caused by new Smart Meter. PG&E found arcing at meter socket. Only PG&E could gain access meter socket.

We had ordered a bedroom set for our master bedroom and realized that our bed won't fit with ceiling fan present in the room. We called Gentec a couple of days before and they were able to come out that Sat morning and replace the fan with a light very quickly and efficiently. We were very happy with their services and quick response and when the furniture arrived, it avoided us a big headache. The bed would not have fit if we hadn't called Gentec in time to replace the fan!

I called on a Monday morning, to see if I could schedule an estimate for that Friday. When I called, I could tell I was speaking to a call-center worker, reading from a script, not an employee of the company that would be doing the work. (Warning #1) Then, after I had scheduled an appointment, the customer service agent told me that the visit would incur a $60 'dispatch fee' which could be "reinvested" towards work, and that it would include a 'safety inspection' to make sure all of my outlets were wired correctly, and that all of my bathroom and kitchen outlets have GFCI's. (HUGE red flag!) Furthermore, when I contacted Gentec to let them know that I wasn't happy with their obvious attempt to upsell me - I got a response from Joe Scerbo that said "At least we answered the phone, some companies don't even do that." Sorry guys, but I'll get three, maybe four estimates on an expensive job, and then go with the one that gives me not only a fair (not necessarily the cheapest) price, but confidence that the job will get done properly, without having to watch out for surprise add-on charges.

This took a bit longer for us because the whole house fan that we wanted was not in stock. Airscape was very busy so we had to wait for a couple of months to finally be able to special order it. I kept in touch with Gentec and told them it could be a while before we could have them do the installation. The customer service manager, Jan, was very responsive. She said as soon as I know when the fan will come, call her right away. She would make sure we could have it installed as soon as possible. When Airscape finally shipped the fan, I told Jan when it would arrive and she setup the appointment for the next day. On the day before the appointment, she called me to make sure the fan would arrive on schedule and she would ask Sean (the installer) to come at 8am next morning. Sean showed up the next day on time. He was very polite and the first thing he did was to put on the shoe covers before he walked in. He looked at the area and explained to me where the fan may be positioned. Then he covered the floor and went to the attic to check. When he came down, he told me again what my options were for the fan locations. He even put tapes on the ceiling so I could see how big the grille is. Once we were set about the location, he then started to cut the ceiling. He made sure all doors were closed so the dust won't get into other rooms. Sean was very professional and the installation went very well. By around 2pm, he was done putting up the attic fan and the whole house fan. He cleaned up everything and then showed me how the fans work. He also told me about PG&E rebate and their referral credits. Before he left, I asked him about a light problem in my house. He explained everything to me. I also knew my other neighbor had a light switch problem and Sean would stop by her house to check for free. The whole installation was a great experience!

We had purchased a new chandelier for our dining room and tried to hang it ourselves. While we were able to hang it, we could not get the fixture to work. We then contacted an electrician who stated that our house was wired improperly and that as a licensed electrician he would not connect. We then contacted another electrician who very quickly connected the chandelier. We turned it on the next day and it did not work. We were then provided with Gentec's name and number from another company doing other work for us. Gentec showed up the same day and promptly diagnosed the problem as a short in the actual chandelier. We took the chandelier back and got a replacement. The following day Gentec again showed up promptly (and much to our pleasure had scheduled for just after 5 PM so we didn't have to miss work) and installed the light fixture without any other problem. Additionally, they covered our floor beneath the fixture with a tarp so that my floor would not get dirty. (This was impressive as there really isn't any dirt/mess when installing a light fixture.) Had I known of Gentec earlier and called them first, I would have had a functioning dining room chandelier a lot quicker and saved some money! Gentec was prompt, thorough and professional and I would highly recommend them.
