One day, without warning, my 8 year old central air-conditioning unit didn't start when I lowered my thermostat. I heard a faint electrical grunt each time the air-conditioner tried to start but after that the only thing that came out of my vents was uncooled air. After checking the breakers and looking to see if there was anything obviously wrong, I checked on Angie's list to see if I could find a reputable company to fix the problem. I called P&M Mechanical Heating and Air Conditioning Service on a Monday afternoon because they had great reviews and ratings. I talked with Michelle who asked a few question who then told me they were available to come out the next morning. The next morning, a very nice repair guy, Jack, arrived on time, asked me a few question then said he had thought he knew what the problem might be, checked out the electrical components of my compressor and found the problem, a failed capacitor, in 30 seconds, which was fantastic and quite a surprise. Jack had the part in his truck, explained that the part was one that frequently failed and quickly replaced it and everything was back to normal within about 15 minutes. P&M Mechanical did a great job and has earned my trust and future business. I plan to call them to do the annual service on my heater/airconditioner unit and will recommend them to any friends that need heating / air service or repair.

I contacted Michelle on Monday morning and she told me that she could get someone out to us between 1 and 3 the same day. She told me that the technician would call us to let us know when he would arrive. He did so and was here before 2 p.m. Jack, the technician, conducted himself in a very friendly, confident, competent and professional manner. He diagnosed the problem very quickly. The compressor and condenser fan motor were not running. Upon further inspection, he found the capacitor was not operating as well. He replaced it and told us the air should be cooling fairly quickly and that he would come in and check it after a few minutes. He then went to his service truck and filled out a sticker with the information regarding what parts he had replaced and what repairs he had made and affixed it to the unit. He came in the house, sat down at the table with us, and went over the repairs again and made sure to give us the 10% Angie's List discount. We will certainly call P & M Mechanical again, should the need arise.

Very responsive -- I called on a Friday morning looking for a second opinion on replacing my furnace and coils as suggested by a technician from another HVAC company (a $6,000 cost). Cynthia rearranged her Monday schedule to send someone over first thing that morning. Jack arrived promptly and asked me some questions. Based on my answers (the unit was giving us cold air, no funny sounds or decreased output), he said it didn't sound like the system needed to be replaced, but he would know for sure after the tune-up. Turned out Jack only recommended additional freon. He set my mind at ease, serviced my furnace and condenser, and gave me great grilling ideas to boot!

We were ready to buy a new one but he saved the old one. The technician was Jack, whom I would ask for again. He was on time, friendly and very knowledgeable.

Paul and Michelle were fabulous. Paul had come out two years earlier for an estimate. He articulated why adding air conditioning wasn't a good value and explained why my roof structure wouldn't make it so. When I called again in 2013, they still had bids from two years prior on file and were able to update them and send them out very quickly. I got confused by some of the options and they didn't hesitate to go through them with me multiple times. The timeline they provided was thorough and work took place right on schedule. Paul realized that there was a cost saving to be had and made sure we got it with no loss in quality and function. They looked out for us.

P&M Mechanical came out to give a quote and go over our options. This went very smoothly and they provided plenty of information. After settling on the details, we were given an estimate we were happy with and decided to move forward. They scheduled a three day period in which to do the work. The workers showed up on time and were very pleasant. They did the work efficiently and did not cause any disruption in our daily routine. After the work was complete, they helped schedule the city inspector. The inspector said they had done excellent work, although there was one issue with the gas pressure. P & M promptly scheduled another visit and a minor leak was found and sealed. After the inspector returned and signed off on the work, P & M did a final walk-through and discovered one other minor issue the inspector missed (a small section that required insulation). This was also quickly fixed, and we have been very happy with the results. We appreciated the attention to detail that went in to the job.

Out of all the business we contacted, these guys were by far the best. They took time to work with us to find the best plan to fit our budget and provided a quote on the spot. Everything is also arranged through the office so scheduling and communication was very easy. And I cannot forget to mention the level of professionalism across the board from the office all the way to the men that came to do the installations. This is a very competent and trustworthy company and I would definitely use them again.

First, the owner spent over 45 minutes with me to assess the airflow issue. He drew pictures and took the time to explain the problem and what it would take to repair. He quoted a two-day job and a two-day job it was. Did I mention that the owner came to the job on day one three times to survey the work and get the team off on the right start? The entire experience was and A++ in my book and I would use them a again in a New York (okay Torrance) minute. The team was totally professional, respectful of my time and clean. During the entire process, Michelle walked me through what to expect in terms of timing, scheduling and inspection. This was a dream team to work with. Kudos to great customer service!

The company was flexible and very accommodating. After their workers removed our old furnace, they gave us a few weeks to paint the cabinet wherein the new furnace would be installed. During this time we also installed the new grates below the cabinet. The new heater installation was completed on schedule. The City's Building and Safety Dept. inspected and signed off on the installation a few days ago.

Made appointment on Friday, technician arrived on Saturday morning on time. Checked the issues and explained in detail the problems and possible fixes. Got the furnace working again and explained no other work or repairs were needed at the time. Wore booties to keep the floor clean (appreciated) Would call them again for any future HVAC issues or upgrades.

Paul answered our urgent call on a Sunday and gave an estimate that he'd arrive the next morning between 11 and 1 and arrived at 11:20. He did some excellent troubleshooting to find our pretty obscure problem and promptly repaired it giving us confidence that the problem would not recur during the holiday. He clearly knows what he is doing. We are totally satisfied and are considering replacing our 25 year old furnace. He will definitely be the one doing the work as he fully lived up to t he excellent reviews we had read on Angie's list before calling him,

Our furnace pilot wouldn't light and since our furnace is at least 25 years old, we wanted to make sure we got an honest diagnosis of the problem instead of just having someone recommend a new furnace. We found P&M on Angie's list with good reviews and when we called they said they did small repairs in addition to bigger jobs. Paul came out and determined that the furnace was in good shape for its age but the pilot assembly and nozzle was clogged. He took it apart and cleaned it and then it lit with no problem. We woiuld trust him with any future problems we have with our furnace. He was on time for the appointment and was pleasant to deal with.

My Carrier Weathermaker 9200 furnace would not start. P&M determined the problem was with the pressure switch. The unit was reset and all is in working order. I'm pleased with the result and would use this provider again.

Paul seems like a good, calm, craftsman and I felt good about his evaluation of the work that needed to be done. His workers were first-rate: they were on time, competent, and left everything tidy (I hate it when workers leave trash for me to pick up). It was not easy to replace the ducting under the house in the crawlspace: tight quarters, and dirty, but the guys worked without complaint and did a great job. All in all, I'm completely satisfied with the work done.

When my house heater broke, of course it was in the middle of a major cold snap. I thought I would be able to just fix a small part. But the price of fixing and reinstalling turned out to be more expensive than just replacing the entire unit with a more energy-efficient model. I went with the full replacement and purchased an earthquake safety valve which was installed at the same time as the new heater. If all my household business transactions could go as smoothly and professionally as this one went, I'd be one majorly happy home owner! Even the city inspector who came to check out the installation after everything was done re-confirmed what I already knew ..... that the job done was excellent! If you're looking for a new heater or AC unit for your home, look no further!! Seriously. This company is hands-down THE BEST!! I love my heater. The customer service and attention to detail couldn't be better.

Paul found the problem immediately (the unit was purchased from Sears and they or whomever they contract to do the actual installation did not do a proper hookup using a fuse connection) and put in the proper connection fuse, etc. and it has been working better than initially installed ever since. I would not hesitate to recommend this company to anyone. If I ever need service in the future, I know who I will be calling.

We are very happy with the new furnace. The owner Paul is very knowledgeable and personable. He was very helpful and able to recommend the best system to fit our needs. His workers were able to finish everything in promised time. We are very pleased with his work.

After considering several HVAC contractors, I chose P&M based on the owner Paul's detailed quote, his attention to detail and their solid reputation on Angie's list. They did an extremely high quality job on the installation. The city inspector was impressed with their work and said he rarely sees installations done so well. They completed all the work in one day and were very diligent to not create any mess or damage. We have had no issues so far after a few months of use. Thank you P&M. On the downside they were the highest bid I received for the job, but I feel they delivered in terms of quality of the install and materials.

My mother's furnace went out two days ago. The company that came out that day to look at it said her furnace was too old, and it wasn't worth repairing, and it needed to be replaced. I called P&M for a second opinion. I live 35 miles away and wasn't there when Paul arrived to evaluate it. It was a simple job, so he repaired it, and it's working great!! P&M just saved us thousands of $$. The furnace is old and we will have to replace it some day, and the company that will do the job will be P&M! The folks at P&M are knowledgeable, friendly and honest. I highly recommend them.

The owner clearly takes pride in his company and performs both the estimate and final inspection in person. He is very knowledgeable, and offers his advice based on product performance and home owner needs. So far, the furnace and its accessories have worked perfectly. I sprung for the wireless thermostat and outdoor sensor, which are fun gadgets, but weren't pressured upon me unnecessarily. I'm going to recommend P&M to my neighbors when their furnaces fail.

This will be our fifth time we've used P&M for our A/C unit, York Luxe Pro. Ever since it was installed in 2008 it has given us nothing but trouble; at least it's still under warranty. This time around the A/C stopped working on a Saturday. I called P&M and described the problem, Luis talked me through the problem and a temporary solution for the weekend. The following Luis he came out and found the problem; the fuse/breaker were not compatible. Thank goodness we found P&M through AL, their service is consistently excellent. Kudos to Paul, Michelle, Luis and the entire staff!

First of all, Paul arrived right on time. He was also extremely courteous and friendly. In a short amount of time he was able to determine the cause of the problem, as well as the solution. The problem and solution seemingly escaped the notice of the furnace repair man that I called last year to fix this problem. The appointment was on a Friday in the late afternoon. He didn't have the needed part in his truck but after making some calls was able to find one. He came back on Saturday morning (right on time again) and installed the part, with no additional labor charge. I now have heat once again and Paul saved furnace, as well. In the future, I will to send all my furnace business and refer my friends and associates to P&M Mechanical. I highly recommend them to those using Angie's List as well.
