He was very good. He inspected additional problems with the gasket and springs. He provided me with a quote for them, and fixed them. He was very professional and courteous.

My garage door was mal-functioning and I called the company that installed my garage door opener to check on my garage door opener. The company that installed my opener insisted on a $139 fee just to come out and look at my system. This was unacceptable to me. I saw Joe Chavez Garage Doors and Gates on Angie's List and called them. They literally were at my door within 45 minutes after I called them and they fixed my garage door almost immediately and the cost was very reasonable. In addition, I got a follow up call a few days later from Joe Chavez to make sure I was happy with their service. That was a nice touch.

I had Joe do a tune up on my garage door in the spring of 2011. In September of 2012, He came back out and replaced a spring on my door when it failed. When I started having troubles again I called him just a few days ago and he said it would be $100 to even come out. I said forget about it and called another company (who were very professional) and when they came out to do the repairs, they told me that the work that Joe Chavez had done was sub-par.

Tech came to our home and identified cause of problem with garage door opener. Was able to replace door opener and align door in about 2 hrs. Very professional and cleaned up after.

Everything went perfect. Very responsive, professional and accommodating.

The door in my garage got misaligned and stuck while being closed. I called Joe on Saturday morning to schedule an appointment to fix garage door. He answered the phone and promised to call me back with a time when technician can stop by the same day. Joe called back within 30 minutes and gave me 2 hour window (1-3 p.m.) when the technician would show up. The technician showed up within the promised time. He provided the estimate and after I agreed to the quoted price proceed with fixing the door. He did the job quickly. The door is working much more quietly now. I guess the alignment and lube did the trick. I was pretty happy with all aspects of the work: it was done expeditiously, done well and I did not have to wait till Monday :-) P.S. I've called several other companies prior to calling Joe. None of them worked on Saturday.

It worked out really well. It has been working well since. He did a really good job. We have no complaints with them. I thought the Big Deal was a good price for the service. The technician came out and seemed to know what he was doing.

We had purchased a big deal for the service. He left for the day, and I told him that the opener needs to be replaced, and another day his colleague came and replaced that, and it has worked since. They were prompt, the price for the garage door opener was fair. The original service, was for the door not opening at all. It was jamming.

We called for an estimate and got one that was less than half of the next lowest, so we set an appointment for that same day (Saturday). Umberto arrived within the given time-frame and got right to work. We are new homeowners and made the decision to turn a partially-converted garage back into a garage and needed the original Chamberlain Liftmaster to be installed. It turned out that the sensors we had were faulty but Umberto attempted to make them work by replacing the wiring. This did not prove fruitful but we truly appreciated the effort to save us money. He replaced 3 broken hinges on the garage door at no extra charge and lubricated the works on top of installing the opener. We are very happy with the work, their quick response, punctuality, and low price. We would recommend Joe Chavez Garage Doors and Umberto to our friends and neighbors in the future.

Good service. Guys showed up on time and were very professional. Appreciated the follow up call from the main office to verify everything went well.

His guy came out to do the estimate, measure the door and provide me with a list of options. I went with a non-insulated door, but I did add windows to the top row, which added an extra $200... and an outside lock for another $45. Certain window choices can only be matched with specific door designs. The estimator told me I could mix and match from different sections, which my fiance and I did and were happy with BUT the next day the company called us and said the estimator gave us wrong information. It was pretty frustrating because we had our hope set on a specific style. But honestly... it's now 3 months later that I'm writing this review and I don't even remember what other choice we wanted... so... whatever. Joe's did a fantastic job on the install. The guy was on time, only 1 worker, took about 3 hours if I remember correctly... the door works great. He hauled away our older door.

I bought a new house where the garage door opener was broken. I am not living on the new property yet. Since I have a daily obligation to pick up my grandchildren from school, I was perplexed as to when I could schedule the service. Denise, at Joe Chavez Garage Doors was able to help me. The technician went to the property and fixed the garage door opener and I did not have to be on the premises. Denise sent me the proper forms and I was able to pay for the services online. The one small problem I had with the service call, was my fault. The seller of the property did not provide a remote to open the garage door. I did not think to mention this to Denise when I scheduled the service call. I called her to tell her of this problem after the technician had completed the job. I was able to purchase the remote by adding the cost to my original credit card billing. Since Joe Chavez Garage Door Company is many cities away from my property, Denise sent the replacement remote via USPS. I am very happy that I was able to get this garage door problem scheduled, completed and paid with very little effort or time expended on my part. The plus side? The low cost! Many thanks to Denise, the technician and Joe Chavez for a job extremely well done. Wish I could use this company for everything else I still need to do to my property.

Ishmael and his co-worker did a superb job of installing the variety of items we presented. They were extremely careful and meticulous, they provided all the parts needed (bolts, etc.), and they seemed to genuinely care about the quality of their work. I would definitely hire them again.

My experience was top notch from beginning to end. Got same day service and door was fixed and ready to use within 20 minutes! I found the price to be very reasonable and though I was informed of the price of a new door, I did not feel at all pressured to buy one. Nor was I made to feel like my old door was not good enough, worker informed me the door was good to go as long as I wanted to keep it!

Overall experience was great. Encountered a little bit of frustration early on with callbacks, phone tag, and when calling, calls usually roll over to an answering service during business hours. Other than that everyone from the office person, to the installer were very nice and professional. There were no hidden fees and everything they promised to do was done. I am very happy with the garage doors.

This job went fine. The technician they sent was great and he got my door working again. He also answered my questions about replacing two sections. The B grade is due to the service at installation of the door. We live in Sylmar and the wind hits the garage door hard. We replaced a wood door that we couldn't get open when the wind was strong. My complaint is that we hired a person from our area who was familiar with the wind our door would have to deal with and he did not suggest reinforcing the doors at installation. After cracks started to form Joe came out and they put reinforcing struts across the panel. Now we have another panel that is cracking. When we replace the doors I will definitely look at other companies and I will know enough to make sure that the doors are reinforced to handle the wind. The tech who came out this last visit told me what should be done to prevent the problem. He is the only reason I may call Joe Chavez doors when we are ready to replace our current door.

There was an issue where they had to come again the next day due to power outage and yet they did at no extra charge

They were able to come out to give me a quote the same afternoon I called. The service man showed up exactly when they said he would. He was extremely thorough in assessing the situation and explained everything to me in detail, answering all of my questions. The quote for the service was almost $200 under a quote I had received earlier in the day from a company we had used 10 years ago (and who did not have a very good Angie's List rating.) They were able to come back the next day to replace the door and service the garage door mechanisms. Once again the service man arrived exactly when I was told he would arrive. The work was excellent! The door has never worked this well.

The garage door springs had been mostly neglected since I moved back into the family house 7 years prior to this service. Therefore, it was time for a maintenance check and the Angie "Big Deal" offer ($69 for nonmembers) seemed reasonable. No repair was required. Joe showed his knowledge of my garage door's parts, describing the part number and color number of the springs for future use when replacement would be needed. He made it sound like I could do the replacement myself, but since I felt it was a job for a professional, he quoted material and labor. At my request, he offered a verbal quote for replacing the worn-out bottom gasket. Joe also advised me on the frequency of lubricant spraying the contact points and which areas required the spraying. Additionally, he gave me a sheet with the heading "Joe Chavez Jr. Enterprises," which described him as a construction and remodeling "specialist."

Slightly over the estimate. But I can't fault them, our garage door had a few other issues. Total cost was reasonable.

Joe came out to replace the spring and the hardware mechanisms in the garge door. The follow up was excellent. He continued to call me back and I knew he really wanted my business. The prices were very fair. The garage door works really, really well. It's a heavy old garage door. I highly recommend him.

Needed to replace an ANCIENT tilt up garage door. Picked Chavez based on reviews here, and longevity in the Valley. Anyone still in business from 1967 is doing something right. Estimator showed up on time, took very careful measurements. My garage is on a slab, but the rest of the house is on a raised foundation, leaving not enough clearance for a roll up door. Estimator was very clear on my options, and the need to specially fabricate the tilt up door. The price was reasonable, and I booked the installation. The installer arrived on time, installed the new door and hauled away the old one on an hour. Everyone from the office staff was nice, professional and helpful. Could not be more pleased with the results. Thanks!

The service was good, the communication was good as well. They subcontracted the gate work. In the end everything was done correctly.

I called this morning at about 11am to inquire about getting our single garage door converted from a manual lift up to an automatic. Our door is still in pretty good shape, we're just tired of lifting the darn thing. Unlike one of the previous reviews, I had a great and pleasant experience on the phone. She was able to tell me about a deal they had and make a same day appointment on a Friday afternoon! I'm astonished. As I sit here writing this review at 3:59pm, I now have an automatic garage door! Woo-hoo! It's like it has been that way all along. They gave me a two hour window and not only came during that time but quickly and efficiently finished the work, too. I would definitely call them again in a heartbeat.
