Ace Appliance

Called during xmas holiday not expecting to be able to get an appt soon and was pleasantly surprised they could come the next day. Appt was to be between 9a-11a and the technician arrived at exactly 9am. Repair took less than 30 minutes. Very friendly staff, on the phone and the technician.

We bought a refrigerator on Craigslist and it didn't work when we got it home. We called several appliance repair shops, and it sounded like very bad news: we probably needed a new compressor, which was going to cost us $300 to $500 plus the service call. Tom came by, asked if the refrigerator was under warrantee. I had no idea, but assumed it wasn't because we'd bought it used. He checked, turned out it was under warrantee and it didn't matter that we'd bought it used, the entire repair was covered. I'm sure it took a bundle of paperwork on Tom's part, but the repair cost us absolutely nothing and now the refrigerator works great. He saw that we're in the middle of a remodel and gave us a great tip: don't let your refrigerator sit unplugged for very long, newer compressors can't handle it and tend to stop working, which is probably what happened to ours. I don't think any of the other repairmen we talked to would have ever checked to see if there was a warrantee. We were beyond thrilled with Tom.

It was great. They came out, diagnosed the problem, and fixed it within an hour.

When I called They told me that my area had been experiencing some very hard water. They told me to run some vinegar through. I did and it is working fine. Their honesty saved me a service call. When they repaired the dishwasher they did a very thorough job.

Great experience, quick service...serviceman also advised me on the purchase of a new dishwasher in the future.

Tom came exactly at the time promised. He was very pleasant and efficient. He found the problems immediately and had both appliances fixed in about 1/2 hour. The price which included a new starter for the stove, was very reasonable. We would absolutely call him again!

You get a very professional friendly person on the phone when you call. I got a call back quickly from the repairman to set up a time. The repairman came on time and was also very professional and pleasant. When he determined it would not be cost effective to fix the washer, he declined payment for a service call which was very nice as I had to buy a new washer. I recommend this company without any reservation and will use them again myself when the need arises.

Extremely happy with this company and the service was terrific! Gave us an initial window of 9-11am, but showed up just after 9am. Took out our old range microwave, installed the new one and even took the old one away for us. No hassle or fuss at all. Tom equally had quite a bit of information for us for future microwaves, what to save, how to get a cheaper magnatron, should this new one fail, etc. Didn't think great people like this existed in the Bay Area, very encouraging and would definitely call them again.

I called Ace Appliance on Monday morning, 7/13/09. An appointment was scheduled for 7/15/09. The repair man arrived within the 1 hour scheduled time period, performed the work within a short period of time. He was very courteous. I would definitely use them again.

Tom arrived on time, fixed the problem and a burned out connection on site and guaranteed his repair- in case his repair didn't completely cure our problem he wouldn't charge us labor on a possible return to instal that replacement controller. In 45 years of home ownership my wife and I have never had such superb service and repair. Tom's knowledge and courtesy were fantastic. It had turned out that a burst pipe repair under our kitchen sink which flooded our lower floor about 18 months previously had resulted in a plumber installing 2 hot water valves under our sink. One of those valves controlled the water to our dishwasher. The plumber must have opened that valve just a little, for whatever reason, and it gradually closed, making our dishwasher die of thirst. Tom spotted that right away and then checked that controller board to see what damage had been done. A component that controlled filling the machine with hot water had gotten so overheated while trying to squeeze water from that line that a contact had burned a portion of the controller board. That's what Tom fixed with his soldering iron instead of simply ordering a new board. Can you wonder why I praise this truly exemptional repair service? Walt Grueninger

They were extremely helpful, and I had an excellent experience with them. They told me a visit would be $60, and I told them that it was worth having them come out. A guy came out. He was timely and helpful. He immediately took a look at my washing machine and told me that unfortunately he didn’t think it could be repaired. He would look at getting the costs of the parts for me, but he thought that that was pretty much more expensive than buying a new one. I was having trouble finding a new one, and he gave some hints on what I could look for that would fit my needs. Since he looked so quickly he asked me whether I had any other appliances that I wanted him to have a look at. I thought he went above and beyond in providing his services. He did look at one thing for me, told me what the issue was, and told me to be on the lookout for a recall from that company. He charged $50 instead of $60, so I was extremely impressed with them.

I called on May 28. The gal on the phone was very friendly. She explained that the minimum service call was $64 but until the service tech saw what the problem was she couldn't really say what the final cost would be. She was able to schedule a visit the very next day. I appreciated that it was only a 2 hour window of waiting instead of the usual 4. The next day the service tech called me. He was about 1 hour early and asked if it was ok if he came early. I said not a problem. He diagnosed the problem quickly. The spray arm needed cleaning/unclogging. He showed me how I could do this myself in the future. He also showed me a hose under the sink, that leads from the dishwasher to the trash disposal. He noted that this hose should hang *above* the trash disposal as much as possible. Otherwise debris from the trash disposal could drain into our dishwasher. That plus the spray arm were the reasons our dishwasher wasn't working as well. This took all of 20 minutes or less and cost only the minimum service call, $65. Well worth it and I would call them again.

I called on a Friday afternoon-they had serviceman out the next work day. he arrived on time (10 minutes early of the scheduled 3 hour window). our refrigerator ice maker was not working. he quickly disassembled it, found the broken component, got the part from his truck, reassembled and tested it---ten minutes. he explained what was wrong. he then noticed the filter was not correctly installed and reinstalled that. very efficient, professional and friendly. definitely use them again (support the small local independent business)

I called Valerie mid-day on a Monday and explained the situation with my oven. She called back later that afternoon, as promised, to indicate what two hour window a repairman would come to my home the following afternoon. They called me the next day with 20 minutes notice, as requested, and I raced home to find Monty the repairman already waiting for me, slightly earlier than our two hour window. He worked on my oven for about 30 minutes, testing and resetting the computer in it, to reactivate the sparker. It befuddled him at first, but he got it working. It only cost $75. I would call on Ace Appliance again... they're great.

Thursday washing machine gave up. Ace appliance showed up on time Friday. Took machine apart and put back together. Turned out the main tub bearing was shot. He explained the cost of the repair was almost as much as a new machine. We talked about the virtues of various machines. Seemed honest and friendly.

Great. Tom diagnosed the problem, told me what it would cost to fix ,and had the parts to do it then, all within 5 minutes. We discussed the cost of a new one, the expected life of this unit, and the buy new versus fix decision. I decide on the fix and he was done within an hour for a reasonable price. One of the best experiences with an appliance repair I have had......better than some factory reps that have done work for me on a warranty basis.

I called about a washer with an unhappy noise. The woman who answered laid out the possibilities, and was warm and compassionate.

The compressor broke on my Jenn-Air refrigerator. Fortunately it was under warranty. They were quick to respond, prompt, friendly, professional and did an excellent job. They were careful not to leave a mess, too, which I greatly appreciate.

I spoke with Valerie on the phone; she needed to check with the tech to see if they could repair it. An hour later she said they could, and we scheduled it. Tom came out, and it was immediately obvious that he knows what he's doing, that he's careful and thoughtful, and also informative. The parts were ordered. He came out again with the parts and voil ! Problem solved. I can't say enough about this company, they're great.

What an excellent company. Originally called appliance store's appliance service to fix broken ice maker in 2 year old refrigerator. The appliance store gave a quote of over $800, basically to replace the entire mechanism and electronics. I decided I could live ice trays. Later, dishwasher was not cleaning top rack. Called ACE Appliance based on Angie's List recommendations. Explained both issues, and they sent service person who knew both issues. He replaced a stripped gear in the ice maker (not the whole thing!!), and fixed the dishwasher - and explained how to prevent dishwasher issues in the future. All of this ran a little over $200. He had done such a good job, I asked him to look at my microwave which had a broken plastic frame/door. I had purchased a replacement frame door, but it was a snap-on fit and very difficult to break or do incorrectly. He confirmed it was difficult to do, but having done it before he know how to do it. He offered to remove and replace - and did this. I was expecting a charge, but it was free. This took a bit of time - maybe 20 minutes, so it was not like a quick adjustment. This was few months ago. All things work great, the price was great, the service and knowledge outstanding. I cannot believe that the other appliance store contracted service wanted to replace the whole assembly of the ice maker for over $800 (I have the quote). I got three appliances fixed for one-fourth the price. Just excellent. Highly recommend.

They did a good job. They came and needed to get a part and came the next day to finish the project. The price that they gave me was reasonable. I would recommend them to others and I would use them again.

The failure was difficult to diagnose and it took 4 visits to completely fix the problem. Ace kept me up to date and did not charge extra for the repeat visits. Very professional and a delight to work with

My dishwasher would not drain. It is 25 years old. Tom came out to diagnose and give me an estimate for repair. In discussions while it could be repaired, new pump and motor, it might be best to replace. I went looking for a replacement but due to some custom cabinetry and some tight physical requirements I had not made a decision yet. Tom called me and said to his surprise the replacement parts had been reduced in price and he revised his estimate. There was no pressure to do the repair, he simply wanted me to have all the details to make an informed decision. That tipped the scales to the repair side and he was back on Monday and the repair was completed. The wood custom cabinetry and the coving were put back into place and you literally cannot tell they had been removed. I am very happy with the outcome and highly recommend this contractor.
