Teak Master

This is an excellent company. The owner, Tim, came out promptly after I contacted him and was very knowledgable about the wood decking. He advised what work needed to be done and, also, what he didn't think was needed at this time. He said he could do the larger job, but it wasn't necessary. I appreciated the honesty and integrity. It was a two day job which Tim squeezed in this week as a courtesy to accommodate my schedule. Raul washed down the decks on the first day. He was careful and thorough, the two words I'd also use to describe the second day's work by Indy and Edwin. The second day was sanding and refinishing and, again, the work was detailed and professional. I am very happy with the very high quality work done for a very fair price. I look forward to having them back as a regular part of my home maintenance.

We are so happy with Teak Masters and the amazing job they have done. We had a couple of bids from other companies that were a bit dodgy, we have a lot ( a lot!) of rails that seemed to discourage everyone. Not Tim, the owner of Teak Masters, he walked in with a smile, said "this is going to look beautiful" and a few days later Indie and his team were at our door. Over 3 days they power washed, sanded, brightened and sealed every bit of our decks and railings. They were careful with the plants and respectful of our property, cleaning up every night before they left. Tim was right, the decks are beautiful now, the old redwood stain is gone and they are clean, smooth and bright. We will defiantly be using Tim and his team for maintenance form now on.

Tim came out to our home over the weekend (which was very convenient) and provided us with a reasonable quote to power wash, sand and seal our redwood deck and teak table. We were provided a variety of colors and options of stain and felt that a honey shade would best suit our deck. The crew foreman, Misael, was prompt, courteous and ultimately did a fantastic job on the deck. He and his team had exceptional attention to detail. They went above and beyond. I'll use them for regular scheduled deck maintenance from this point on.

TeakMaster brought my grey teak deck table, chairs and lounge back to original color. The gave all furniture a good sanding so there are no more rough surfaces. I had a watermark on my fence and TeakMaster sanded and restored the redwood fence to its original color. While another contractor I solicited was uncertain of the outcome, TeakMaster expressed no doubts and produced great results. There were some rotted boards on my deck. TeakMaster replaced them and sanded and stained them to all boards matched. So, before you consider replacing your fence or deck, let TeakMaster refurbish it."

It was amazing. They were were very professional. The crew was on time. They were not messy.

First, I called two Angie's List companies to get quotes. Both were similar in price but Tim (the owner) of Teak Masters personally came out to my house and answered my call and any questions I had instead of the receptionist who answered the phone at the one company I called. I was moving and explained to Teak Master it would be about 2 months before I would be ready to have the set back. He picked up my set and held it for that long without any storage fee. When I was ready to get it back, within 2 weeks it was back to my new house, in PERFECT condition. Teak Master gave me a very good price to come back yearly to keep it in the shape it is now. I have other wood products at my home that I'll have him treat on a yearly basis as well. The staff who picked up my set and the ones who delivered it back to me were friendly, professional and careful! I would highly recommend Tim and Teak Master....a family owned business!

Tim and his crew were amazing. Indi (crew leader) and the guys were all very polite and protective of our plants and surrounding hardscape. They transformed our fence and deck from weather worn brown black back to it's red brown natural color. All in four days! They cleaned up every evening and came on time each day. Highly recommend for anyone considering fence maintinence.

It went very well. They picked it up and brought it back when they said they would, and did a great job.

Tim and his team did an excellent job of restoring our Cumaru wood deck. We live near the ocean so the sun and ocean air takes a toll on the wood. First they sanded the wood, then they cleaned and brightened it, and finally they applied a protective oil that sealed everything and made it look brand new again. The whole job took only 2 days. It was amazing to see the beauty of the wood's natural colors and grains that had been hidden under all the ingrained dirt. Tim was very easy to deal with and answered all of my questions very patiently. He also stopped by several times to check on the progress which I much appreciated.

I will never look for another deck maintenance company again! They are the best!

Our home came with an 875 square foot deck, we were that was teak wood. The surface had become increasingly worn poorly over the course of just a few months. Protecting rather than replacing became our priority. We interviewed several contractors to help us diagnose our deck situation but never felt confident we were speaking to the right person for the job. Of the contractors we interviewed, it was clear that Teak Master was the real deal and extremely knowledgeable at what they do. Raul was our foreman for the project. During our walkthrough, he sanded a small portion of the deck to show us what the deck originally looked like. He confirmed the deck was in fact made of solid teak, which rare according to him. Our bid was submitted and received via email the next day. The job was performed and managed according to the expectations communicated by Raul. Teak Master crew was on time, detailed and highly skilled at what they do.

Tim and his crew did a great job for us. He came out to our home, gave us an estimate for free, and stuck to his bid. His crew was punctual, very friendly and extremely hard working. We could tell that everyone really took pride in the job, and were meticulous with every detail. Our deck was in bad shape after two years of neglect, and in three days they restored it back to it's original luster! If you take pride in your deck and want someone who isn't going to cut corners and really knows what they are doing, use Teak Masters. They were great for us, and we would highly recommend them for any deck project.

Quoted an estimate on the phone. Set the date, the workers showed up on time. The job was finished in six hours. Our furniture looks brand new. I would definitely use them again.

Our experience with TeakMaster went very well. Tim Gilliam was friendly, professional, knowledgeable and punctual for our initial consultation. His crew of two who performed the work a few weeks later were very friendly and extremely hard-working. The sanding was very noisy, of course, but well worth it. Our redwood deck looks beautiful again!

Tim, the owner was responsive in answering questions and came out to give us a bid which was fair and his crew were punctual,polite and we are very happy with their work. We plan on doing business with Teak Master in the future since they will handle the yearly maintenance of our deck to help keep it looking good for years to come.

Let me just say, Tim and his crew are outstanding! I can't believe the magic they performed on our 9 year old, brown, weather worn, and sun faded outdoor furniture. I actually forgot what the original color looked like. Teak Master completely over delivered and we love our furniture and can't wait to show it off to our friends and family. I needed to have my wood fence around my yard refinished as it had become weathered and unsightly. I used Angie's List to get several options for the work. Teak Master and Tim was a great choice. The work done was exactly what I wanted and needed and the price was very competitive. I am very happy with the work and the price was great. Overall, a great experience from start to finish.

We recently purchased a new home in the Pasadena area a year and a half ago. What attracted us to this property was the outdoor living space and amazing view from the enormous 2700 square foot deck facing downtown Los Angeles. our agent had told us that the deck was made of hardwood and that it would need eventual maintenance. Soon after we moved in, about 4 months to be exact, the deck was black in color. We turned to our contractor who remodeled our last home for advice and he suggested we varnish the deck. We began to search online to see what are options were for caring for our hardwood deck and what similar experiences people may have had with their decks. After reading countless blogs and sites claiming to have the best products and knowledge to care for decks, we realized varnish was an absolute no-no in the decking community. We started to research online companies to take a look at our black deck. The first contractor we talked to on the phone swore up and down that he knew what he was doing and that it was "no problem", he could fix it. The date and time came for him to do an onsite estimate and he never showed. Another company from San Diego tried to quote me over the phone without even seeing the deck. No way, we had enough. We turned to Angie's List for help. We came across Teak Master, read reviews, and made the call. I talked to Tim, who is the owner, and he explained that he needed to come out and take a look at our deck to properly diagnose the "black" issue. Tim showed up on time for our estimate. Even though the deck was black, he explained to us that our deck was very valuable and made of Ipe wood from Brazil. He said the deck had changed black in color because it had attracted mold and dirt. He then asked us if the deck was sticky or tacky when we moved in and we explained that, in fact, it was slightly sticky. He didn't know for sure what product was used, possibly linseed oil, but he did say that it was think in texture and probably over applied. This is why mold and dirt had stuck on our deck, turning it black. Ultimately it was a bad finish. Tim let us know that he needed to take the current finish and mold off of our deck to restore it back to new again. He walked us through their process of cleaning the deck to get off surface mold. They would then sand and coat the wood with an Ipe specific oil that would hold up for 8-12 months. Tim took measurements and pictures and emailed us a formal bid the next day. We reviewed the bid, took a look at the before and after pictures on their website, and made the deal. The work took place over the course of 4 days. Each day the crew showed up at 7:30am sharp. They were kind and courteous and were very careful with our plants and walls that line our deck. Two crew members came out the first day to wash the deck. Isaac, introduced himself to us as the project foreman. He explained the process of cleaning and made sure we understood that they would be cautious of our plants and landscape. Issac and 3 employees arrived the next day and began to sand with a floor sander and small sanders around the perimeter of the deck. They were relentless with their techniques and rarely stopped to take a break. The following day, they returned to finish sanding and apply a brightener that Isaac explained was to promote color and prevent mold. The crew applied the coating the final day of the project. Each and every stroke was carefully hand applied. The crew worked as if it was their own deck they were working on, with such patience. Each day all work areas were swept, cleaned, blown off, and hosed down. Our deck looks better than it did when we purchased our home. Tim and Isaac returned the following day to walk us through the care and maintenance and what we should expect over the course of 8 to 12 months. We are extremely pleased with the outcome and service we have received. Tim and the crew are honest and true craftsmen, highly recommended.

Everything went perfectly. I had been overwhelmed researching the best options for staining my new redwood deck and was so relieved to talk to Tim. He was knowledgeable, patient with my questions, and was able to come out quickly to give me an estimate. Once we'd decided to hire him, his guys came out within a week (could have been faster but we had a lot of rain) and were very polite and fastidious. Tim also called to check in and make sure I liked the work, before sending an invoice. I will definitely be calling him again when my deck needs to be restained (he explained proper maintenance to me as well, going to make sure the deck lasts a long time).

Perfect experience. Great communication from the beginning. Wasn't sure what my deck needed, so I asked for a range of options. Got a great bid on the spot and agreed to the work. Was sent paperwork promptly by email and scheduled for the next week. Even though I was pretty sure about keeping the paint color, the owner made sure to show me other options before they started. Great phone communication including one heads-up about being slightly late for one start time. Totally professional attitude and good craftsmanship. The owner is personable, knowledgeable and has the time to get into detail about what's going to be done and why. His men are clean, courteous, timely, quiet and efficient. I'd hire them again anytime.
