Description of Work: In my Maytag washer hey replaced some kind of seal and put in a new bearing kit. It definitely fixed the problem (leaking under the washer) but I felt it was rather costly.

Description of Work: Replaced Motor and parts in my 25 year old Maytag Dryer. First showed up with an expert and an assistant under training. The assistant finished the job after the ordered parts arrived about 3 working days later. Took rather along time to install (3 hours) and found two additional small value non-working parts which he had in his kit. Dryer is now working fine.

Description of Work: First the service man was late & did not call before he eventually showed up as requested. I was told the parts were in stock & could be installed within 3 to 7 days. After 4 weeks with no call to schedule I finally called & was told parts had to be ordered & were now in. Appt. was then scheduled. New service man arrived & I was told not all parts had been ordered & a new date had to be scheduled. By this time I had had enough & cancelled the entire ordered.

Description of Work: Refridgerator stopped running the day before. Called Allen & Sons the next day and they were able to send a Tech out the same day. Tech arrived about 30 min late. For an emergency repair, I wasn't complaining. He immediately diagnosed a bad controller board, even saw what components were probably bad (bulging capacitors). Swapped out the board and cleaned the coils. Up and running within 30 minutes. Only lost some ice cream, but I was able to salvage the other frozen foods. Dumped some refridgerated foods, since they got too warm but I was thankful that they were able to send someone right away.

Description of Work: The clothes washer did not operate correctly. The repairman came promptly, and after examining the machine, stated the problem had to be repaired by a plumber. Then he proceeded to tell me that while trouble shooting the machine, he noticed it did not spin correctly and that piece needed to be replaced at a cost of $110.00. I mentioned that the machine was spinning correctly and that was not the problem at all.......he strongly insisted. I believe he needed to make his trip "worthwhile". The replacement part did not improve or change the way the machine operated.

Description of Work: They've fixed our washing machine twice. The first time was several years ago so I don't remember the details. But it got fixed and worked for the intervening several years until a couple of weeks ago. A repairman was out the next day and it is now working quite well again.

Description of Work: We had broken a shelf in our SubZero Side-by-side. Phoned them to see if they could help me. They gave me a phone number of a Los Angeles parts supplier where I was able to order the part over the phone, billed to a CC, for over night delivery. Painless. No charge or hassle any where for the service.

Description of Work: I am a property manager. I called to have a diagnosis done on a dryer machine that was not preforming properly in one of our units. The phone technician said I must sign a CCA form authorizing up to $250 work to be done. I told her "I am specifically interested in a diagnosis to be done 1st. What is the charge for a diagnosis?" $45 was her response. I then filled the form out and wrote on the form "please call the property manager when diagnosis is done"... I then proceeded to fax the form in with my credit card info. When they got the form an immediate $250 was charged to my account. I called and explained "I was only interested in a diagnosis, why was my card run for $250?" She explained she would reverse the charge after the diagnosis was done and then charge the $45 if that was all the work that would be preformed. Of course I planned to have Allen & his sons preform the work if it was a reasonable price for what needed to be done. After 3 days of waiting for a technician to go out to the property I see another $243 charge on my card in addition to the original $250. I called and asked "why?" she explained that the work was done and the $250 would be reversed but the new charge is $243. She did not know nor could anyone in the office even tell me what was done to the dryer, nor could they explain to me why I did not receive a call from the technician when the diagnosis was done. The only answer anyone could give me was...."you signed a form authorizing us to charge up to $250. " If you want to be charged $250 for Allen and sons to clean out the filter for you on a non working dryer. Allen & Sons is your company. Horrible way to do business. I will never use them again. HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE!

Description of Work: Allen and Sons is apparently contracted with Samsung to perform their warranty work on their large appliances. After I contacted Samsung regarding a massive leak from the washer after my first load of laundry, Allen and Sons contacted me promptly and the repair person called me and asked to show up early for the appointment which worked out well for me. So far, so good. However, upon arrival the gentleman took the washer apart and we both saw that their was a crack in the plastic of the drum (this is a front loading washer with hard plastic around the metal drum). He explained that he couldn't fix it now and that he had to contact Samsung. He took several pictures of the drum and washer. One of the pictures was of a dent that was in the washer when I took it out of the box and it was so small at the time I took no notice of it. He professionally returned the washer to it's former state and said Samsung would be in touch. So far, not so good, but not so bad either. Now, comes the part that burns me. Unbeknowst to me they took all of these pictures and submitted a report to Samsung that said that the small dent in the side of the washer is what caused the massive crack in the drum and due to this report samsung will now not only not replace the washer, but won't fix it either, because once again (according to the report) the washer isn't fixable. So now, I have a brand new washer that isn't fixable and won't be replaced. All of these actions fall squarely on the actions of Allen and Sons. Had they merely put in the report that the damage could have been caused by any number of things ,such as at the manufacturer or due to faulty installation, I might have had a chance of convincing Samsung that they were at least partially liable and get a new machine. Also, Allen and Sons listed the Appliances as unrepairable without even trying. Lo and behold when I went and got some marine sealant and put it on the crack turns out I've pretty much fixed the unfixable washer. Now, I can't guarantee that this will last, but at least I tried and that's more than they did. As for this mysterious report which Samsung uses as their main evidence as to denying my claim I have never seen it. All I know is that I had to contact Allen and Sons multiple times to have them resend the report and then contact samsung to make sure they received it. In essence I had to act as the middleman on my own claim. Unfortunately, neither samsung nor Allen and Sons felt it necessary to reimburse me for all my time spent on their behalf. The only thing I do know about the report is that it was the sole factor for causing my claim to be denied. The only other thing I know is that Allen and Sons did a terrible job of taking care of a customer. I don't know if this is their SOP (Standard Operating Procedure) when they have warranty work that isn't going to put additional income in their pocket or this is their normal mode of business. All I know is that if you have an appliance repair I wouldn't recommend them even if it's free. Look at me, their warranty service call was suppose to be free and is possibly going to cost me 500 dollars for a new washer! Another interesting fact, if you look at their website it list all the brands they repair and Samsung isn't one of them.
