Undergoing an ADU Garage conversion is an extremely stressful process. In this case, your contractor needs to be not only a skilled craftsmen, but also a good psychologist to help you when you start to lose faith. Oury is an honest, trustworthy man and I enjoyed working with him over the past 6 months. Now that the project is finished, I am very happy with the results and I am glad that I chose Universal Home Design. If you are looking to do remodeling--small or enormous, Oury is the perfect person who will walk you through each step of the way, communicate regularly, and make sure the work is top quality.

We chose Universal Home Design after interviewing several contractors. We chose them for several reasons - quality of work on other jobs, pricing and also because Ourie was not pushy or aggressive with making a sale and he was very willing to work with us. We did an addition to our kitchen on a two-story house which required a great deal of reinforcement lots of concrete, rebar and beams. We are very pleased we went with them and after hearing nightmare stories from other people we could not have made a better choice. There are many reasons I would hire Ourie and his team again but here just are a few. 1. The finished job is amazing. It is to code and I feel very confident in the workmanship. 2. His crew is clean, reliable, professional and very considerate. They keep to a schedule so you know when they will be at your house and when they will not. I have a 9-month-old baby and every single person that worked on the house was extra careful and went out of their way to accommodate the baby and had true concern for his safety. 3. I made changes along the way and they were very willing to work with me, never once made me feel bad about it and said yes with a smile. They were always very kind. 4. Pricing! Here is a big one. They kept to the budget we set. The only extra charges were things that I added. Even then, Ourie worked to find me the very best pricing on things I wanted to do. This was a big concern for us but UHD came through on their promise to us with the pricing. 5. They kept to the time line, we were only delayed by changes I made but the overall work was done in the time that was quoted to us. 6. Ourie or Alfredo were at the house almost every day to follow up on the work that was done and were in constant contact with me during the remodel. Both were easy to reach by phone or text. My kitchen is now beautiful and I could not be happier with the process it took to get it done. I highly recommend Universal Home Design. Excellent people and truly fantastic workmanship.

His approach is straightforward, comprehensive, and flexible. I have recommend his company services to family and friends and would recommend the same to anyone.

Contractor was willing to provide help as needed and was willing to provide a quote.

We appreciated that Oury was upfront with us and gave us realistic options given our budget for our addition. He also was very accommodating with the details that were important to us and made sure those were taken care of. He was easy to get a hold of during the entire project and was prompt in responding back. Alfredo and his team not only provided quality work but also cleaned up the work area at the end of each day (which is important because we have kids and a small dog). They were professional and courteous. These guys will be first on my list for future products.

The guys were great! Communication was excellent, and the jibe was done very quickly ( as promised) even though there were some unexpected events.

I really like my remodeled bathroom. There were a couple of hiccups, but the contractor was helpful in resolving them to our satisfaction. The work was done very well and the sub-contractors were friendly and very neat.

Ouriel is great to work with. Great listener on this big project I want done. He returns your call timely. They are working on my bathroom right now. I can wait to see the end product.

The work was done on time and on budget. End results are beautiful and better than what I imagined. Workers came when scheduled and cleaned up at the end of each day. I have no complaints and will hire them again for any future remodeling jobs.

If I was to describe my experience doing business with Universal Home Design, it would be "Serendipitous"€. I was doing research for a kitchen remodel job, wall to wall, floor to ceiling total rebuild. I had used another contractor company for three-bathroom remodel couple of years ago. I planned on using the same company again, but I needed to do my due diligence by getting few bids just for my peace of mind. I talked with half of dozen contractor companies, over phone or in person at my house. First impression and my gut instincts are important to me. Oury showed humility, he didn't brag about how many years he's been in business like others, just focused on my project. He was honest about my request to knock down a wall, other companies said "no problem, if it's not load bearing..." Oury went up my attic (nobody else did) and said, "that wall is load-bearing wall and you have sunken living room and...".; "I wouldn't tear down that wall, it's not worth the investment"€ I knew then, he wasn't a sales guy but someone that would partner with me to make my dream kitchen a reality. All the companies that gave me their bids had slightly different scope of work based on their feedback and ideas. Oury's bid was fair and larger scope (more cabinet space, counter top space and tile work). 700+ sq. ft. of tile work, 74 ft of linear cabinets, windows, lights, etc. Work started with prep work, move existing refrigerator to my garage. Oury said 6-8 weeks, during the project I added few changes/additions, such as laundry room (tile, counter top, move water line), rebuild my 24 x 10 wood deck, replace 2 sliding glass doors, run a new water pipe to the back yard near dog run. Based on our ideas/vision Oury helped us pick out tiles, back splash, counter top, paint, and some kitchen stuff and I never had to go to the store, Oury brought all the samples to us so my girlfriend and I can visualize it in the house. Here is the best part, all the work I described was completed in 2 weeks and 4 days!!! I am talking new kitchen, dining room, front entrance, laundry room, and a wooden deck. Another thing, I consider to be a nice feature was his crew was awesome, same familiar faces day after day. Familiar and friendly faces are import to me since my girlfriend and her 12 years old daughter was home during the afternoon. I've worked with bigger companies and plumbing guy, electrical guy, tile guy were sub-contractors and I would go days without any progress due to scheduling. I can't state how happy and satisfied I am with my new house. I communicated with Oury by text or face to face on daily bases during the entire project, either Oury or his crew would tell me what was getting done the next day. My next project will definitely be with Oury and Universal Home Design.

They did a good job and finished on time.

We hired Universal Home Design, Inc. for a bathroom remodel. They did outstanding work! When Lowe's gave us the run around with our kitchen remodel and left us without a kitchen, we hired Universal Home Design to replace the drywall in the kitchen and install the kitchen cabinets. We were so pleased that we hired Universal Home Design to complete additional home projects. We contracted Universal Home Design and their team of professionals to drywall the ceilings throughout our home, install recessed lighting, install an exterior patio cover, and complete a partial re-roof. The GC, Ouri, was very knowledgeable about the current building codes and made sure everything was completed to our utmost satisfaction. The GC was always available and was on the job ensuring timelines were met. All of his staff were courteous and were willing to help out whenever needed. I feel like we were in good hands from the beginning to completion. I will use this company again and refer to all who are considering a residential remodel.

Had to fix previous contractors mistakes and still finished ahead of time.

We are very pleased with Universal Home Design. They built a 17'x18' room addition for us, including a semi-custom window seat with a small closet on one side and shelving on the other side in our new room. Oury and his team did a fabulous job. Our new room is beautiful! Oury is very easy to work with. He is wonderful communicator. If there was something we wanted to discuss, Oury was available to us. We were told the job would take about 3 months, and it did! Oury and his team are trustworthy, reliable and professional. We would highly recommend Universal Home Design.

I had a water damage in my master bathroom. After interviewing few different companies, we decided to go with Universal Home Design. We changed the old tile with beautiful white porcelain tile. We rearranged the vanity and the toilet area. The whole job looks gorgeous. The contractor guide us through the whole process. He was always available when we had a question and he was mostly very clear about the details. Very straightforward company and we will definitely use them again. Thanks Universal Home Design!!

My 45 unit building that I live in originally contracted Universal Home Design to complete a renovation of the common areas and entire inside of the building. Because of such an amazing job they did, I had called and asked them to repair some flooring in the hallways of my unit due to water damage. They did such an amazing job color matching the existing flooring that I had everywhere else in my home as I did not want to have to replace the entire house when just a section of the hallways needed to be worked. They were honest with what options I had available to do this in the most cost effective way...and on top of it they finished the entire work in less than 2 days without removing my existing baseboards or putting quarter round next to them. They really do phenomenal work...I recommend them to everyone!

Insist on seeing everything before installation

They were great with communication, and supervising the job. The supervisor himself was fantastic, and always made sure to clean up before leaving.

Great salesmanship; neither quality nor value backed up the pitch. Have already had to fix two improperly installed bathroom fixtures (one required an expensive weekend call to a plumber). Let the company go before all of the work was complete as the quality was marginal at best; currently in the process of having much of it redone. Be very clear upfront on expectations and deliverables and make sure you write or approve payment schedule language. By the contractor's own admission, his milestone language is "just what I put in the contract." Some elements of the job were adequate but overall, a very costly mistake.

We were very pleased with the work done for us by Universal Home Design Inc.. We had large areas of walkways, stairs and decking in desperate need of repair and resurfacing. We found them to be extremely competitive, very professional and a pleasure to deal with. We will definitely consider Universal Home Design Inc. for all our future projects.

Universal Home Design Inc. is fabulous! I'm a single senior woman and I'd never had remodeling work done before. I was vey frightened of being taken advantage of by a contractor. The contractor Ouriel listened to every word I said. He guided me to get the exact results I wanted in remodeling my bathroom. He is extremely professional and informative. He estimated the job to take 3 - 4 weeks, he was right on. Everyone on the working crew spoke English, and were reliable, efficient, courteous and trustworthy. I could leave them alone in my home and feel completely at ease. Everyday before they left, they would sweep the floor and clean up their tools. Ouriel's patience and talent made this remodel go extremely smoothly. I'm completely satisfied with the results and highly recommend them. If you don't want stress or if you have a fear of price hiking in the middle of your job, make your life easier and use Universal Home Design Inc.

Universal Home Design did such an amazing job from start to finish at the 45 unit condo complex where I own a unit and reside on the HOA board. The inside of the building has not been renovated since the 80's and I cannot express how beautiful everything looks. The contractor Oury and his team were very professional and always available when needed. They completed the entire interior painting of the building, including repairing any crack and water damage on the ceilings and walls (because we are right next to the freeway and the vibrations caused cracks in our hallway walls). In addition, we had carpet replaced on all three floors, vinyl wood flooring in the front and back area of all three lobby floors, our garage level flooring done, recessed lighting for 132 lights, and the front steps of our building were repaired and painted with epoxy paint. You can tell the quality work in the contractors and the pride in their job because they were extra clean, very efficient with their time and accommodating to the hours and requests of the building. This was a huge building and a huge project that could have taken months to complete but in all, this company was able to finish way ahead of schedule. It was all completed in about a month, minus minor setbacks brought on by us being indecisive on paint colors and so forth. Would definitely recommend to anyone who has either a small or big project, they are awesome. thanks guys!

Oury is absolutely wonderful. He is very responsive, and answers all questions and concerns (if any) immediately. He oversees the job to it's fullest. I would highly recommend Oury and his crew. He keeps his word and works with you to find the best solutions. The project was completed in the time that he promised. Definitely a pleasure to work with, and should we need any more remodel or construction, I would absolutely request his service again.

We initially hired Universal Home Design to remodel our kitchen. We took out a load bearing wall, changed the location of the sink and stove, replaced the flooring, added new cabinets, countertops, and sink. We then expanded the project to add recessed lighting through out the home, and paint the interior walls. We were so happy with the results we had them work on our back sun room as well. They leveled the floor, added new flooring, new windows, new sliding door, put up dry wall, and fixed some plumbing issues in the laundry room. We also decided to have them replace our roofing. Everything they did came on budget, was completed on time, and there were no surprises. They did a great job on our home, we will definitely be using them on future projects, and I highly recommend them to anyone looking to make updates to their home.
