+ -1 moreBrad was the individual who performed the service. He's extremely nice and professional. He was on time, fast and efficient. I asked him many questions...and watched out of curiosity...and he was always kind and generously responsive. I very well may use Spectrum for my pool maintenance as well. I would highly recommend this company. From start to finish, they were great!
Description of Work: The flow sensor on my 3 1/2 year old Jandy salt system appeared to be out. From the moment I spoke with Mark on the telephone, I felt completely comfortable that he knew what he was talking about and knew about Jandy equipment. Without even mentioning it to him, he told me what service code was appearing on my system and approximately how old my system was. Now THAT'S product expertise! Since I did the diagnostic work, he gave me a bit of a break on the labor charge, which was greatly appreciated. I would have rated price an A as well, but the Jandy flow sensor is quite expensive (nothing that Spectrum has control over).

+ -1 moreA perfect experience. Our old pool service had gotten so bad, not showing up when expected and not answering the phone, so we found Spectrum on Angie's and called. Mark (who is just great) came out and we discussed monthly service and how to solve a few little ongoing problems. I also asked him to quote me a price on automating our pool and spa system with a remote. I was sick of having to go back and hand open the valves and turn on the heater whenever I wanted to heat the Jacuzzi. He gave me a price, scheduled installation, and the job was done a week later with total professionalism. A night and day difference from our last pool service. We have just started our regular weekly service and our pool has never been so clean and sparkly. Use these guys. You won't be sorry.

+ -1 moreWe are on Angies List looking for a new contractor. The experience was horrible. If you have a small, uncomplicated system that can be handeled by inexperienced workers, they may be OK. But if you have a system with expensive, high quality equipment that you want to keep in good shape, look elsewhere.
Description of Work: This company has been providing monthly pool service for us at an outrageous $500 per month for two years. Simple tasks such as keeping lime deposits off of the pool walls are NOT routinely performed EVEN WHEN REQUESTED. In this 2 year period, we had our first ever major problem with our pool. There was a leak related to the pool equipment they serviced every month. We assumed that they would recognize the leak and effect a repair recommendation. After 2 months of inaction by them, we again complained about the leak. They simply shut off the system and told us it was not their responsibility. We never claimed it was their responsibility. We only wanted a diagnosis. As a result of their shutting off the system, we developed clogs in the pool lines and fungus. They NEVER checked on any of it. We called a leak detection company (note that they claim to offer internal leak detection services in the Angies List ad: Not so from our experience). The leak was found by the outside contractor. We contacted Spectrum to have them assess the leak. They said that because "others" had made the diagnosis, they would have no part of it. Wow. $500 a month and the first problem and they flake out. Beware. The boasts they make of comprehensive services are a farce. The moment you have a problem, expect denial, deferral and a HUGE estimate for repair if they will even cooperate. Ours is a very large system with 10 pumps and a large waterfall. They are simply not up to the job. They begin wth experienced personnel and then quickly change the service people to inexperienced workers. You will never see the owners again. Classic bait and switch. Beware.

Tomo was courteous, prompt, reliable and well-qualified. The finished work shows the pride he takes in a job well done. I can definitely recommend this service
Description of Work: Tomo of Spectrum Pool Care renovated the in-ground spa by doing the following work: Laid and hooked up a new gas line, installed a new heater and pump, and repaired leaks in spa. During excavation for the gas line, he took special care to limit any damage to trees, shrubs, vines and flower beds. He kept me informed on the progress of the work each day. The work was efficiently and expertly done and clean-up was thorough.

They were fast and had no issue with walking me through the steps as they worked so I could take on the job myself the next time around, if I wanted to give it a shot. I'm planning on hiring them to provide regular pool care.

+ 0 moreI cannot speak too highly of this company, they did a tremendous job. Mark responded to my call and visited my house to provide the initial quote during the Christmas/New Year week, when their offices had actually closed for the holidays. The price they quoted seemed competitive, they were willing to fit in around my schedule, and that of other workmen on my property, I liked Mark's attitude and so decided to give them the job. Tomo was on site for most of the time following, even during the bad weather patch we experienced, doing what he could whenever he could do it. He kept me apprised of everything as it happened, they responded immediately to any concerns I raised. They went above and beyond in every respect, on one occasion during the storms Mark visited the property at a time when he had no need to, without being asked, just to check on something because he knew I could not be there myself, then gave me call to put my mind at rest. The job was completed in less time than I expected, the results are better than expected, and surprisingly within budget given the level of service they provided. I would have no hesitation using these guys again, and have already referred them to two of my good friends.

+ -1 moreThey were good, but they were expensive. They charge you a $125 for the inspection and if you get the work done by them, they tie it. They were way too expensive. They were not reasonable and so I?ll not use them again.

+ -1 moreThey came out and told me that they have to break down the walls of the Jacuzzi and checkout the plumbing. But I wanted them to put the grout and see if that solves the problem. But they wanted to do it their way which would have costed me lot of money. So, I paid them their service charge and did the grout myself and I fixed the problem.
Description of Work: The water was leaking from the wall of my Jacuzzi into my backyard and I had called them to take a look at it.

+ -1 moreWe talked with three companies, and Spectrum was by far the most professional and knowledgeable. First we had their leak detection service, which discovered two leaks -- in the spa return line and the skimmer. There was a little delay in starting the job because another job the company was handling took longer than expected. The repairman Tomo was very careful in doing the work, which involved cutting through a brick and cement deck. He was very self-sufficient: the days were very hot, and he brought an umbrella and a cooler. He was very experienced and handled the job efficiently -- and was a very pleasant, kind person.
Description of Work: Pool leak detection, then repair of leak sources: major leak in spa return line, and replacement of skimmer to handle a small leak.

+ -1 moreSome of this specialty work is outsourced, which introduced some delay in scheduling (1st assessment, ultrasound diagnosis, then the repiping). Once the job was started it was finished within 1 week. Communication with the customer was excellent, the work was extremely professional, the price on the high side but fair, quote matched the price. This was a bit of a tricky job but they gave a clear game plan on how to proceed. Different from the open ended fishing expedition that another company had proposed with vague estimates of nearly twice the price.
Description of Work: Repair of leak found in inaccessible underground area of suction line leading to the jacuzzi pump. Unable to definitively identify leak by inspection or ultrasound test. Decision was made to reroute a new suction line from the skimmer (involved removal of some stone work around jacuzzi and digging a trench through grass).

Description of Work: Pool heater repair and clean-up. Plus re-plumbed main pvc pipes to filter due to water leaks. They did a terrific job. The spa has never worked better. And their rate seemed fair for the amount of work performed. As good or better than advertised.

+ -1 moreSpectrum called to verify work to be done and time their technician would come out At the appointed time, Tomo showed up. He knew in advance what had to be done. He was conscientious, patient and thorough in his explanation, and while the scope of the project grew, there were things he said "if it were my pool, i'd invest the $...on others, it was, "you can wait for that." We have small children who take naps and when I asked him not to ring the doorbell and CALL me when he arrived so i could let him in, he did it each day without having to be reminded. When he was stuck in traffic, he even called to let me know he'd be a few minutes late. He did an AWESOME job and I would recommend both Spectrum and Tomo again without hesitation. They're probably not the cheapest in town, but if you're sick and tired of people showing up at your house who just punch the clock and couldn't care less about your house or pool or whatever, or if you're tired of always having to do things twice because some repairman screws it up, then I would especially recommend Spectrum and Tomo; they know what they're doing and did a great job for a fair price.

I was pleased that they did not push the most expensive solution. I thought that the price was reasonable for the solution that they did come up with.
Description of Work: They came out and I had wanted to reduce the amount of chemicals that I use in the spa. They came up with a less expensive way to do it. They put in an ozonator in the filter.

+ -1 moreOverall the service is fine. I have no complaints with the service. I have a pool and a hot tub. I went from paying $90 a month for service of both to them not servicing hot tubs, only pools. Then the price went to $105 with additional charges per service. There is a lot of bait and switch with them. The work is fine though. I have no problems with their service. I had some tile fall off not due to their fault and they said I then had to go to the tile repair department which would be a separate invoice, separate job, and separate service. If they clean the filter it is another $55. I caught them, they charged $55 for the initial cleaning because they are the new company. A month later they billed me for a semi annual filter cleaning. If someone tells me it is going to be $100 for a service, they do the service and we should be done. Again, the guy shows up and we do not have to call. The quality is so far good.

If something comes up, they arrive when they say they will and take care of what needs to be taken care of. There's no big story to tell. They just do a great job, and I have been pleased for more than nine years.
Description of Work: Spectrum Pool has been keeping my pool clean for the last nine years. They are here once week on schedule without fail. The service is especially prompt, personal, and friendly. I always get a positive response whenever I have a question or request. In addition to my weekly service, they also replaced my filter and pump last year and repaired a leak beneath the concrete patio several years back.

Description of Work: They were friendly and pleasant, but the service man did not come every week, as promised, and my requests to add salt and clean the filter were ignored. I ended up doing it myself. It is possible that they would have gotten round to it before an algae infestation, but they allowed it to get very close. There were also additional charges every month, for services I had not anticipated. I could not verify the necessity of these services.

+ -1 moreI was so pleased that Larry from Spectrum actually went with me to pick out the tile. It is so beautiful, and I really love the turtle family walking into my pool. As usual, Spectrum was timely and efficient in installing the new pool pump, automatic pool cleaner, and the new solar pool cover. I contacted the plaster company and they came out right away and gave me an estimate. I hired them to do the work of plastering and installing the new tile. They did a great job and I am very satisfied. I would highly recommend them to anyone needing that kind of work done. Spectrum also does my weekly pool cleaning and, unlike past pool cleaning companies I have had, they leave my pool sparkling. They also make sure that my dog doesn't get out of the yard, which has happened before with another pool companies.
Description of Work: I needed my pool re-plastered and re-tiled. Larry was kind enough to accompany me to a pool tile showroom and helped me make up my mind as to which tile to buy. He also suggested that I have four turtles embedded in the plaster by the steps. Spectrum also installed an energy saving pump, a new automatic pool cleaner and a new solar pool cover. They then referred me to a plaster company to have the work done. That company was efficient and reliable also.

+ -1 moreEveryone I had contact with was professional, knowledgeable, responsive, helpful, informative in response to questions, and on schedule. Times committed to were kept. We had clear conversations about what the costs could be, and what would cause them to go up or down, based on the findings once a technician arrived to do the work. Since having our first repair made, we've recently had a second issue arise and I immediately contacted Spectrum for help. I look forward to submitting another report.
