in a nut shell, work was excellent, the paperwork part was not efficient.not "user friendly as no follow up calls were made"

tomo came, as promised, and did the job quickly. good at explaining what he is doing, and i appreciate that.

My overall experience was great!

I called Spectrum because it had high ratings on Angie's list only to find that they behave unlike any other vendor I have encountered in the over $300,000 worth of renovation we are doing on our house - Spectrum demands to be paid to provide a bid for their services. Their claimed "reasons" for providing a service fee is that they often find people looking to "compare prices" or "find out how much something would cost." To be clear, I am looking to buy a heater, variable speed pump, repair a broken skimmer, and will need installation and piping for all items. My guesstimate is that my work will be at least $6,000 and I have already torn out my decking in advance of doing my pool repair.

Just started using their service, but so far, its great! They were very responsive to come quote, very reasonable, and altho outside the area they currently service, added me on without any issue. ;)

We called and I forgot his name, but he came out the next day. Told us it was a pine needle that was stuck in our filter that was tripping our breaker and shutting down the filtration. Honest. Prompt and a good job. Very pleased. Thanks!

I had Spectrum come out to clean our spa. Chris was on time, and even came out a day earlier when I let him know my schedule had changed and I was available. The cleaning was great. The only thing I would like to suggest to Spectrum is that they use some sort of product for shine up/protection and detail the spa cover as part of the cleaning. This is the only reason I didn't give them an A for Quality and Price. It was all good though, Chris did clean off the cover and I knew this wasn't included when I made the appointment. I told Chris about an ongoing problem we've had for years getting the heater to stay on after refilling the spa. After he was done cleaning the spa he showed me how to blow water into a few of the jets, then down through one of the filter cartridge areas and the darn thing started without a hitch! Oh my gosh! All those years of running back on forth from the circuit breaker to the reset button on the spa! Another company I used to have clean our spa evaluated the same heater problem back in July and they said that the heater pump needed to be replaced at a cost of $480.00! They said they couldn't be certain until they actually installed the new heater pump if that was in fact the problem. Not knowing if it would work or not, I decided not to have them do the job and keep the $65.00 they charged since I didn't have them do the repairs. I haven't used them since and never will. I'm so glad I didn't spend that $480.00 and I'm really glad I found the Chris and Spectrum!

The pool cleaner is always polite, if I ever have any questions he happily answers them. The last company I hired started slacking which is why I decided to give these guys a try. Glad I did, no regrets.

They were highly responsive and professional and did exactly as they said they would do. I find many service companies to be disorganized. It is refreshing when you find one that actually calls you back and takes care of your problem with ease. I definitely recommend Spectrum.

We had a wonderful initial experience and continue to work together. The technician who came out to give us the quote was very professional and answered all my questions. We set up a date for the deep clean to happen...They were offering a coupon on Angies list that made our first visit a smoking deal. The pool looked great after the deep clean as the home had been on market and not serviced for some time. After that service the weekly upkeep has begun and we couldn't be happier with the services.

The company and its owner, Larry, respond very quickly to all communication. However, that's where the positives end for me I'm afraid. From the very first week of service, I received constant pressure to resurface my pool (even though the pool was staying clean with the weekly cleanings). The constant pressuring was bothersome, but the reason I finally decided to end my cleanings from Spectrum was when a whole week passed without the tech cleaning my pool. It was very obvious because the same algae buildup on the stairs remained all week -- something that'd easily be gone with one brush sweep. I told Larry the tech did not come. He responded that he spoke to the tech, and he did come, and said my pool needs cleanings twice a week (for $185). When I told Larry it was IMPOSSIBLE the tech had come (and explained the algae on stairs), he responded that he and the tech would be out in the morning. No apology was made whatsoever that his tech lied and did not perform service I was paying for. I have since been cleaning my pool myself, but if I go with another company, it will be a smaller company where the owner knows what's going on and has dependable employees. Very disappointing.

My parent's pool in Westside LA was installed over 20 years ago and while the pool and spa were still ok the equipment was not hanging with the times. I called several pool companies to bid to install new heater and pumps and the bid from Spectrum was fair and it was clear they were capable of doing a full change-out. During our discussions we opted for an automated controllers and salt based chlorine instead of the bleach based, both of which my parents love. Brad was the contact man and ran the job. I live out of town so could not be there for all the installs but Brad was very kind to my parents who are now very happy with how it turned out. We also used Spectrum for new railings which were handled by Tomo and who did a fine job. There were a couple of hiccups such as the variable pump not working out of the box. I contacted Brad and he arranged for the manufacturer who cam out, replaced the pump. Finally we hired Spectrum for regular pool service and that is now ongoing. I am writing this review as a recommendation for all of the phases described above.

I was pleased with the service. Initially, there was some confusion about the time of the appointment, then I found damage in the area around the spa. The company was immediately responsive. I learned from my handyman that the damage to the decking was due to improper staining by another contractor - and not the fault of this company.

Tomo and Spectrum Pool are awesome! I just purchased a new home with a pool that needed some major work. Tomo stopped by to give me an estimate and I immediately felt like I could trust him and I decided against getting additional quotes. I turned out to be right and Tomo was the right call. Tomo got to work almost immediately. Tomo did a great job and I can't say enough about the quality of his work and his integrity. I would recommend Tomo and Spectrum pool to anyone!

The technician called me back within the hour and told me they couldn't but he gave me the name of another company that he though could help me. I really appreciated the call back and the referral since I've been calling around for a year and no one has ever called me back! This company is very professional and knowledgeable.

Our pool heater died at the end of last summer so we decided to wait until this past spring to have it repaired since we weren't going to be using the pool through the winter and spring season. I called Spectrum and left a message. Amanda promptly returned my call and told me how their repair service worked. There was a set charge for the labor ($145) and then additional cost for any parts supplied. A serviceman named Brian came out on May 15th to give us the estimate for the heater repair. We were happy with the estimate and agreed to move forward with service. Our heater is ancient so of course, the part had to be put on special order and would take several days to arrive. Brian stayed in touch as we waited on the part. Once the part was in, which was roughly a week later, Brian called to set up a time to come repair the heater. He was punctual, professional and worked diligently. Our heater was repaired within a couple of hours. It is working beautifully! So, it was approximately 10 days between the time that Brian gave us the estimate and the heater being repaired due to having to special order the part. We didn't mind the wait. We are very pleased with Spectrum's repair work and certainly wouldn't hesitate to use them again for any future pool repair needs.

We changed to Spectrum Pool Service after our previous pool serviceman was no longer going to be servicing our area. We were given information over the phone by Amanda who was very helpful and professional. Brian came out and assessed our pool and spa. We were quoted $105/month which was about $20 more than we had been paying with our previous company. Mind you, the previous company had been servicing our pool for several years with the previous owner of our house and was kind enough to keep the same rate for us for the two and a half years he serviced the pool for us. We are very happy with how the pool is being serviced by Spectrum. The first time out, they had to use an algaecide because there was a few weeks lapse in our service as we transitioned. They also said they had to "shock" the pool as it basically had no chlorine when they came out the first time to service it. I have to admit, our pool has never looked better. They do a wonderful job. They always show up on the scheduled day. The two servicemen who come out are very polite and work efficiently. I have only one gripe... I wish that they could come out on a different day to service our pool. They come on Tuesday and our gardener comes on Wednesday. As careful as our gardener is, there is no way to keep some debris from entering the pool. I really don't want to change the day he comes as he has always come on Wednesday and it is what works best for him. So, I guess we just have to grin and bear it for now and hopefully in the future it will work out better one way or another. We are so satisfied with Spectrum that we'll just hang in there!

BOTTOM LINE - Spectrum Pools stands by their work and does everything in their power to make the job right for their customers. I am so thankful for Chris. I now feel like I will be able to enjoy my spa for many years to come because I have such a knowledgeable professional to keep it running in tip-top shape. Chris showed up for the estimate. Very nice, knowledgeable and professional fellow. After receiving my estimate and ordering the work done, I decided to look online for a new spa cover and found a company that does not only the covers, but motors too. They the EXACT match for my motor at $150 less (34% less) than what was quoted by Spectrum - AND it would have a 2 year warranty as opposed to the 1 year Spectrum's offerred.. Since Spectrum had already ordered the motor from their distributor, cancelling would have incurred a 15% restocking charge - over $60. I knew there was nothing that Chris could do about it, so I took my concerns about this extreme discrepancy directly to Spectrum. They lowered the bill by $100 and matched the 2 year warranty from the alternate provider, so Chris installed their pump that they originally ordered. This truly demonstrates what a quality outfit they are. Once installed I immediately noticed that the pressure coming out of the jets was not near as strong as with my original motor. Chris came back to check for malfunctions but said everything worked exactly as it should be. Both motors were rated 2 horsepower. Chris surmized that perhaps the spa's manufacturer modified the original motor to make the jets seem more powerful, but that in and of itself was not going to solve the problem - there was noticeably less jet pressure. So then Spectrum - VERY NICELY - offerred to reinstall a 2.5 horsepower motor (at no additional charge) that I was certain would solve the problem. Chris then showed up with a 4 horsepower motor instead. I expressed to Chris my concerns that this 4 HP motor might be too much for what my spa and its systems were designed to handle, but he assured me it would be no problem. The 4 HP motor is markedly and quite noticably MORE POWERFUL than what had been in before. However, the spa began leaking immediately after its installation. Chris came by and repaired it twice - at no additional charge - and that stopped the leaking. Everything is now working perfectly and I enjoy super-strong jet flow in my spa thanks to Chris and Spectrum. Thanks, guys! (By the way - Spectrum would have installed the motor I found that was $150 less; next time I might try to find the motor on my own and just have Chris install it. Spectrum said that they would be fine with that!)

Great experience. Chris came out and fixed my pool immediately. Followed up the next day and made sure the pool was in perfect condition. It has never run better or been cleaner. Thank you.

They are always very helpful and make time for me. I can even call them on the phone and they will give me advice at no charge. I already have them scheduled for my next job with them.

Chris installed all new equipment for my jacuzzi. He was very professional and did not start work before inspecting the tub and sending me a detailed estimate. The installation was done well. Everything works as it is supposed to and He got me equipment that was right for my budget and my hot tub. I'm giving "B"s because of two reasons: 1. It took a long time for him to come out and get started on the job. Apparently he was going out to Malibu and Palisades then back to the Valley for more jobs during that time, and it sounded like a crazy schedule. It took some time over a week for him to get to our place.I think he's being overworked for sure and it looks like Spectrum will be able to benefit from hiring more employees. 2. The final estimate, right before he finally began work, had more than a $1,000.00 increase from the very first Original Estimate (3,210.00) because some things were forgotten to be included in the first estimate. Of course, it's not that serious of a problem because in the end I am paying for what I am getting, but I just personally greatly dislike it when things are not thoroughly inspected and laid concrete from the beginning. I like to be able to plan ahead in terms of finances. Good thing though, is that they accept credit cards. Many places that provided these installation services did not accept credit cards. All in all though, it was not a bad experience, and I am satisfied with the work that was professionally done.

They returned our calls, and came out for both the estimate and the work at the time they promised. The work was completed timely and well and they did a professional job.

called Spectrum because of the decent reviews and they were in my area. The person I spoke to on the phone was courteous, told me the cost to have someone come look at the pool and give an estimate would be $165.00, parts and repairs would be extra. He was able to make an appt within a couple days of my call but told me the technician, "Brian" would call me that SAME day to schedule the appointment time. I never heard from Brian until the day of the appointment, he gave me a 2 hour window, but he ended up being late, causing me to miss an appointment I had later in the day. Before looking at the actual issue with the pool, he told me "it was going to be expensive". He eventually did look at the equipment, and he told me he would send an estimate. A couple days after, I got a message asking to text me the e-mail address that he wanted to have the estimate sent. I did so, it's now been almost 2 weeks and I still haven't received the estimate for the repairs. I would not recommend this company. We didn't get anything for the $165 fee. a
