My Security screen door would no longer open; something was locked in place and we couldn't unlock it. I assumed it was the deadbolt so tried taking it apart to see if I could just replace it myself. But once the deadbolt covering was opened up, I couldn't get the deadbolt mechanism out. So I called Choice Locksmith for help. Jeff came over the same afternoon and determined that the deadbolt was working fine, it was the door handle latch that was stuck, what he called "open latch lockout". The bolt of the latch had broken off from the spring mechanism, and remained in place preventing us from opening the door. Jeff had to forcibly pry the latch out, which he did successfully and with no damage to the rest of the door. He replaced the latch. Then while he was replacing the deadbolt mechanism, he noticed that the mechanism was showing wear with intermittent failure, so he replaced the deadbolt bolt as well. All work was done quickly, professionally. I was very happy with Jeff's work.

We came punctually at the agreed time, quickly determined that a repair was not needed, just dismantling, lubricating and adjusting the mechanism. He also lubricated 5 other locks that were of a similar age and condition, as a preventative measure. He completed all this in about 20 minutes. All six locks now function smoothly. It is great when you find a reliable local business that you can trust to do excellent work at a fair price.

Jeff was great! We communicated only by email (a lot) and he was always prompt to respond. I felt like I was stringing him along with our business (waiting day after day for our new house to close escrow), but he was very understanding, patient and accomodating. Jeff was very responsive and, once he got here, found a way to give me what I needed (good door lock and a way to keep a 3 year old from getting out) cheaper than the original plan of a new lock and deadbolt. When we discovered he forgot my Angie's list discount, he immediately mailed me a check.

Jeff was responsive to my call, showed up on time, did a fair bit of troubleshooting to determine the cause of a sticky front door, and then implemented a good set of solutions. he also put in a peephole that he brought along. He was easy to communicate with and did an excellent job!

Jeff has done locks at our house as well as my In-Laws in the past. I called him to ask about possible keypad locks for our exterior gates. Since he was familiar with our house, he came up with the perfect solution and color of the locks to match our house. He was there the next day to install them. It ended up being a long job of five hours and Jeff worked diligently the whole time. The end results are fantastic and we are very pleased with his work and special attention to detail! Some friends were staying at my home. When they left the wrong door was locked. No one could get in the house. I was out of town for the weekend. I called Jeff from out of town gave him my approximate arrival time. Jeff was waiting at my house when I got home. Great work!! Fast,clean, efficient!! Called Choice Locksmiths in the morning, Talked with Jeff, explained my problem, he said he would be out in the afternoon. Arrived on time, analyzed the problem. Explained my options, quoted a price, I gave the go ahead. Work commenced, Jeff obviously knew what he was doing. put out protective drop cloth to protect my floors, did his work with up to date tools and had the job done in a couple of hours, The new lock set-up is good looking and does the job. He also rekeyed the lock to my existing key so I did not have to rekey all the door locks.. I forgot to mention Angie's List before he wrote up the invoice, when I did, he insisted on adjusting the invoice to reflect the discount. I would definitely use Jeff and Choice Locksmith's services again.

Very well. I called to arrange an appointment and the locksmith was able to come over the same day. He arrived on time, did a thorough and professional job. He was conscientious and courteous.

He was efficient, knowledgeable and he kept me posted on his time schedule so that I knew the time he would be there. I liked him and I would use him again for sure. The thing that stood out was for me, we had a rental house and we had to go and meet him there. He was very good about being on time and that was important to us because we had to sit around and wait on an empty house.

Jeff called roughly half hour before scheduled arrival time, and rang the doorbell promptly at appointed time. We quickly went over what I wanted to do, what the options were, and agreed on a plan of action. Jeff quickly went about his business, but my young son was home and quite interested in all the commotion. Rather than getting annoyed at him standing around/ wanting to look at the disassembled parts, Jeff actually got him involved and had him turn in a few screws (seating them properly afterwards) on one of the deadbolts. My son was thrilled, and Jeff was a real sport even though clearly he could have been out of there earlier... Whole process done in one hour including key copies for all new locks, plus Jeff was generous with his knowledge about security chains/ window rail guards, saying what could easily be bought from Home Depot rather than pushing parts he had in his truck... I'd use Jeff again anytime....

Jeff called before he arrived to ensure I was home. He arrived at the appointed time. We reviewed everything I wanted done, before he began work. He went to work in a professional manner and fixed everything quickly. He checked and rechecked his work to make sure the locks worked properly. He even added a longer screw to my garage door because the original screw was too short and the door was pulling away from the wall. All of the locks work wonderfully and I have only one key for entry to all doors and my front gate. He did everything I asked and more and I am very pleased with the results.

He noticed that a door handle interior metal component was too long, so he trimmed the tailpiece. That door had always been so difficult to lock/unlock, and he quickly fixed the problem! Years ago, our window contractor installed the sliding glass doors into a slightly more narrow space than ideal, so one of the top security bolts didn't go into its hole. He re-drilled the hole, so now we can use the security bolt. He gave me some security tips for some other doors and windows, since I asked. He is a complete expert in his field, extremely skilled, and very pleasant to work with. Highly recommended! |
